GM says, "Okay, logging."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yeah, if a hand appeared, then you couldn't retrieve things from small spaces."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "Since you could only reach into places where you could fit your hand."
[Helvetica] Gert says, "Well, the porte hole could morph and surround it if need be or something."
GM cues theme music.
[Helvetica] Gert says, "(which it apparantly does in LucianLand, since you guys grabbed Nicolette's hand that one time ;-)"
[Helvetica] Hans asks, "What *is* our theme music, anyway?"
[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "Ha."
[Helvetica] Gert says (to GM), "(different Nicolette)"
[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "Or so we *think*..."
[Helvetica] GM says, "Uh, I've been playing "Holding out for a hero" before every session, so far."
[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ha"
[Helvetica] Arvid says (to Hans), "Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip .."
[Helvetica] Gert asks (of GM), "Have you heard the version of that song on the Shrek 2 soundtrack?"
[Helvetica] Gert says, "It is pretty cool."
[Helvetica] Hans exclaims (at Arvid), "Jeff already ran that one *years* ago!"
GM says, "Y'all arrive back in Geneva round about noon a couple of days later."
Gert has been adamant so far that the mirror not stray too far from Agathe.
GM asks, "Word must be sent back to Bois-Franc to inform Joseph and/or Dupin about Nicolette's current whereabouts ... did you do that while passing through Bois-Franc, or will you do that once you're safe in Geneva?"
Gert was thinking probably Geneva.
Arvid says, "I don't think we want to stop until we're out of the country"
Cat says, "yeah"
GM says, "Okay. So you arrive in Geneva."
Gert asks (of Nicolette), "So, besides your pocket, have you tried to mark something with a drop of blood so you can get it back later?"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hmm, possibly in that case our theme is someday the mountain might get 'em / but the law never will"
(From GM) Nicolette says, "ew. No."
[Helvetica] Cat asks, "so is there anything else we need to do before we let Agathe summon Raoul?"
Gert asks (of Nicolette), "Would you... would you be willing to try?"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "I don't think so."
[Helvetica] Gert says, "I want to do something first."
(From GM) Nicolette gives Gert a funny look. "I suppose. Though I can't imagine why you think such a thing would work."
[Helvetica] Gert says, "Actually, I want to talk with you all first, but I'll do that in a sec."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "But if we try, the G^H^H^H^H^HFate may step in and make a distraction occur."
Gert says, "Because people who can do your pocket thing can usually do this, too."
Gert asks, "Do you have something you particularly like? Something you always want to know where it is?"
(From GM) Nicolette says, "wellllllll...."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "I never thought I'd see an Eisen commoner teaching a Montaigne noble how to perform Porte rituals."
[Helvetica] Cat says, "hee hee"
[Helvetica] Cat says, "you realise that this won't work"
(From GM) Nicolette shrugs and says, "Well, I have a little miniature portrait of my mother."
[Helvetica] Cat says, "unless we somehow move Nicolette away from the shards while keeping Agathe nearby"
[Helvetica] Cat says, "I suspect the latter's going to get harder in Geneva"
[Helvetica] Gert says, "Oh, right--is this conversation back in Geneva? (that's fine if so)"
GM says, "You're stopped outside the St-Alsace monastery at the moment. Geneva proper is further down the road."
(From GM) Nicolette says, "That's in my pocket, but I haven't been able to open my pocket since we left Mont-St-Gabryon."
Gert wanders off a bit with Nicolette until her pocket works again, whispering to Cat to please stick next to Agathe with the mirror for now.
Gert says (to Nicolette), "Maybe it'll work again if we go away from the group a bit."
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "we don't really have to whisper -- Agathe knows we have the mirror (and is pissed off about it)"
(From GM) Nicolette says, "If you say so. I've got some things in there that I was really counting on being able to bring with me."
Gert says, "Great, let's try it."
GM says, "Nicolette slides her finger through the air, and the hole opens up. She is overjoyed and begins pulling everything out -- she doesn't want to be stuck again with the pocket not working."
Hans says (to Agathe), "I apologize for this. But considering the circumstances, caution does seem necessary."
Gert helps carry everything.
Gert has many many pockets of her own.
[Helvetica] Hans says, "I guess it's probably for the best that Arvid and I are with Cat still."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "So we won't see her pulling out all of her spare underthings and so forth."
(From GM) Agathe says, "You know, I think you're keeping that thing near *me* on purpose. How come she gets to go away and I have to stay nearby?"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "see me tactfully avoid the joke about bloodied underthings"
Hans says, "Because, while we may trust you, we do not know your husband."
[Helvetica] Cat exclaims, "but I thought she was a sans-culotte!"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "Ha."
Gert says (to Nicolette), "OK, now I'm not entirely sure about this, but I think all you need is a drop of your blood on the back of the portrait. When you do it, just think about how much you like it, and how you always want to be sure you know where it is."
[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee"
(From GM) Nicolette says, "You are a very strange person."
Gert says, "I hear a lot of stories."
GM says, "but she does as she's told."
[Helvetica] Cat says, "a lot of long, spooky stories"
Arvid says, "and it's put us in for a lot of bother having to come rescue you when it's really his job"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "And a few other stories that you and Cat probably used to trade back at school, but those aren't really appropriate at this point."
Gert asks, "Now, um. I guess close your eyes and see if you can sense it?"
Gert says, "Let me move it away from you."
[Helvetica] Cat exclaims, "throw it off the mountain!"
[Helvetica] Cat says, "that'll motivate her"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "Ha."
[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "But she doesn't have any ranks in Bring yet!"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "I guess she's probably just earned a few XP by helping with the rescue."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "So she could probably spend them on it."
(From GM) Nicolette says, "Um. I *think* I can...."
[Helvetica] Cat asks, "did you call that helping?"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "time to quit spending all your XP on languages, kid, and learn some real adventuring skills"
Gert says (to Nicolette), "Really? OK, try keeping your eyes closed and point to it while I move it around."
Gert moves away a couple paces, and moves it back and forth.
[Helvetica] Cat says (to Arvid), "I think upgrading from Will 1 should probably be the first priority"
GM says, "Nicolette can sort of get a vague bearing on the general direction of the miniature."
Gert. o O (Well, go for broke, here.)
Gert says, "OK, now keep your eyes closed, and reach out and take it from me. Pretend it's sort of in your pocket still."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "Y'know, this is three brand new knacks you're making her develop all at once."
[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee hee."
[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "Can't hurt to try!"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "True."
[Helvetica] Cat says, "she can spend the points later, this is just the Training Scene"
[Helvetica] Hans asks, "If she manages that, will you make her Walk as well?"
GM says, "Nicolette tries opening up the pocket again and reaching in. Nothing happens. On the third try, you're sure you feel a faint tug on the miniature, as if it's shifting slightly in your hands."
Gert exclaims, "Hey, that's it! Keep doing that!"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "(And then we never see her again, as the Voices beyond the veil lure her away.)"
Gert exclaims, "You're doing it! You're amazing!"
GM says, "Nicolette blushes."
(From GM) Nicolette says, "It didn't really work, though."
Gert says, "But you're really close! OK, so. We'll try it again, but I have to tell you a secret, and you have to promise not to tell Agathe unless I say it's OK."
(From GM) Agathe says, "Can we get going now? I must send word to my father that I am not, in fact, dead."
(From GM) Nicolette says, "yes?"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "the secret is, I'm going to kill that bitch who stole my wedding ring"
Gert says (to Nicolette), "You see, I think Raoul stole her wedding ring from my mother--I recognize it, down to the nick in the side."
Hans says, "Gert should be back any moment, and then we can return to the school. I'm sure your brother and sister will be pleased to see you as well."
Gert says, "I don't know what kind of man Raoul is, and I'm afraid, he might just take the ring instead of coming for her--he's marked it like you marked the portrait."
Gert asks (of Nicolette), "So if I can get her to agree, are you willing to mark her ring so we can know where it is if Raoul steals it back again?"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, that's where this was going"
GM says, "Nicolette is all wide-eyed. 'ooh, of course.'"
Gert hugs Nicolette in a huge bear hug.
Gert says, "Thank you, dear."
Gert practically skips as she makes her way back to the group.
Gert exclaims (at group), "So!"
Hans exclaims, "Ah, good!"
Hans asks, "We are ready to go?"
Gert asks (of Agathe), "I was thinking--what if Raoul thinks that you've died and instead of coming *to* the ring, instead just takes it back, not wishing it to be buried?"
Cat says, "that brought back some memories. Except last time I saw that teaching technique, it was about how to kick a gentleman in his unmentionables."
Arvid says (to Hans), "I should hope so -- all these long nights are very wearying"
Arvid says, "though I suppose my students feel the same about my lectures"
(From GM) Agathe says, "Oh! I never thought of that! It's days past the execution date ... he might not know I escaped!"
Gert exclaims (at Agathe), "Nicolette has agreed that if you're willing, she'll mark the ring herself, too, so we can then go to Raoul, instead of having to make sure he comes to you!"
[Helvetica] Cat says, "sneaky beaky"
GM skips the whole 'you're a porte mage!' 'am not!' 'are too!' discussion.
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"
[Helvetica] Gert laughs.
(From GM) Agathe says, "Fine, do it. But it won't work while the ghost is still here."
Gert exclaims, "Great!"
Gert says, "Let's do it, and head back to the college."
Gert is OK with being in Raoul-range now that we're close to friends and all.
GM says, "Nicolette marks the ring and you continue onwards."
[Setting the zoned flag.]
Gert. o O (I hope this works.)
[Helvetica] Gert says, "We need an @think command for this room."
GM says, "You arrive back in Geneva in time to see the inn window shatter outwards and some guy come tumbling out. There seems to be an all-out brawl going on in there."
[Helvetica] Hans asks, "You mean the 'think' command?"
[Helvetica] Gert says, "Oh, it's just 'think'? Duh."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "(Which the @think channel thing is just a channel-based mockup of?)"
Cat exclaims, "Hooray! Last one in's a rotten egg!"
Cat says, "...or I suppose we could help pacify the disturbance"
Hans asks (of Some Guy), "What's going on in there?"
[Helvetica] Gert says, "(Oh, do you want me to roll Doctor, etc. for Arvid, or shall we just declare he's better by now?)"
Gert jumps down. "Are you OK?"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh yeah, I forgot I was bleeding everywhere"
(From GM) Some Guy spits. "What do you think? It's a brawl. I lost track of who we were trying to put down ages back."
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I guess you probably tied up a whaddyacall on me after we were out of the city"
Arvid says, "good, good, carry on then"
[Helvetica] Gert says, "Bleeding in 7th sea is like bruises in real life. ("Where did I get *that*?")"
[Helvetica] GM says, "This is a New Story. Dramatic wounds go away as being no longer dramatically appropriate."
Gert peers in the broken window to see if anyone she knows is getting beaten up.
Hans heads inside.
Cat deliberates, and decides to stay and keep an eye on Agathe.
[Helvetica] Hans says, "Ah, so he was healed by rescuing Agathe."
(From GM) Some Guy says, "actually, I'd say its that new fellow ... Guy something-or-other. Showed up in town not two days ago, has been causing nothing but trouble since."
[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "Initiative."
[7thsea] Hans rolls 2 dice: 9 3
[7thsea] GM rolls 2 dice: 2 9
[7thsea] GM rolls 2 dice: 3 5
[7thsea] GM rolls 3k2: 7 2 7 | 14
GM says (to Hans), "Someone mistakes you for one of the patrons and slings a tankard at you, missing barely."
[Helvetica] GM says, "THREE"
Hans draws his sword and swings the flat edge into the head of whoever seems to be the biggest troublemaker still standing.
[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Do I see anyone noteworthy inside?"
[Helvetica] Gert asks, "and/or should I roll initiative?"
[Helvetica] GM says (to Gert), "no-one noteworthy, no."
[7thsea] Hans rolls 7k3: 4 3 10+4 7 9 8 7 | 31
[7thsea] Hans rolls 6k2: 5 8 7 2 1 9 | 17
[Helvetica] GM says (to Gert), "also, only if you want to wade in ... but you lose every action that comes up under 3."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "(Attack then damage.)"
[Helvetica] Gert says, "Oh, sure."
[7thsea] Gert rolls 3 dice: 10 1 7
[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "they're all brutes."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "Ah, should've taken two. They're small..."
[7thsea] GM rolls 3k2: 7 1 4 | 11
Hans knocks him loopy across a table.
GM says, "Someone comes at the sword-wielding fellow with a chair, missing miserably."
[7thsea] GM rolls 3k2: 6 4 9 | 15
Hans asks, "What are we celebrating?"
[Helvetica] GM asks, "(does 15 hit?"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "No."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "(20)"
GM says, "Tankards and stuff are still flying all over the place."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "Also, I forgot: I get a free raise against someone who misses my passive defense, if I attack them in this round before they attack me again."
[Helvetica] GM says, "SEVEN: Gert"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hey, that's pretty good"
[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "so we'll call that two brutes taken out."
[Helvetica] Gert says, "Sure, why not."
Gert wades in, flipping over a table at three people fighting in a corner!
[7thsea] Gert rolls 6k3: 6 2 6 6 6 4 | 18
[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ha, or not."
Gert's table rolls neatly between the group and crashes into the wall.
[Helvetica] GM says, "NINE: Hans"
Hans sweeps his sword under someone's feet.
[7thsea] Hans rolls 7k3: 7 6 5 5 5 6 8 | 21
GM says, "Fellow falls head-over-heels into someone else and they both go down in a tangle."
Hans slices off his bootsoles, knocking him backwards into a man trying to shove a table over.
[7thsea] GM rolls 3k2: 6 6 3 | 12
GM says, "A serving platter goes spinning through the air and knocks the clock off the wall."
GM says, "TEN: Gert"
Gert exclaims, "Hey, knock it off!"
Hans exclaims (at Gert), "He just did!"
Gert says (to Hans), "Oh, right."
[Helvetica] Gert says, "(going for three again, what the heck)"
[7thsea] Gert rolls 6k3: 6 8 4 8 8 1 | 24
[Helvetica] Gert asks, "If that's one short, I'll add a dramatic?"
[Helvetica] GM says, "Nah, that's fine."
[Helvetica] Gert says, "Woo."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "The TN is <= 14? Easy brutes..."
[Helvetica] Cat says, "well, they're drunk and not properly armed and have been beating on one another for a while"
Gert, like she planned this all along, backs the three men into the corner against the table, and swings the haft of her axe at them just as they hit the edge, making the group flip backwards over the table again.
[Helvetica] Hans wonders if brutes go down in one hit even when hit by other brutes...
GM says, "Three of the brawlers get 'subdued'. At this point, more than half of the brawlers are out of it. The rest are beginning to come down a bit from the battle rage."
Hans asks, "What, is it over already?"
GM says, "The bartender manages to reach through the mess and pull out a small, rather ugly fellow from the wreckage."
[Crows-Nest] (from Hans) Hans exlaims, "Hey, let go of me!"
(From GM) Bartender says, "Just get this rat out of my establishment!"
Hans says, "Sure."
Hans puts him over one shoulder.
(From GM) Guy says, "(words not fit for polite company.)"
Hans says (to Gert), "We should get back to Cat and Arvid and Agathe and Nicolette -- it's not fair to make them with while we have fun."
Hans says (to Gert), "But it is nice to see the townsfolk getting some healthy exercise."
Cat says (to Nicolette), "This will make an excellent vocabulary-expansion exercise. Pay attention, now."
Gert nods at the bartender, shrugs, and follows Hans.
(From GM) Guy says, "(continues to educate Nicolette)"
[Helvetica] Gert asks, "I assume he's speaking Eisen?"
(From GM) Guy says, "so put me down, ****!"
Gert asks (of Guy), "What was that all about, then?"
Hans asks (of Guy), "What did you do to make the Bartender so angry?"
Cat explains the precise meanings and nuance of the terms
[Helvetica] Gert says (to Cat), "Hee hee"
(From GM) Guy says, "Told him his daughter is a whore, which she is. And what? My money's good as the next [fellow's]."
(From GM) Guy says, "Maybe he's jealous." (bares teeth. Ugly teeth.)
Hans says (to Guy), "Your money may be as good, but it sounds like your company isn't."
(From GM) Guy says, "Oh, [bother] you."
(From GM) Guy glances over at Cat, Nicolette and Agathe, and leers.
Cat says (to Nicolette), "that implies a blasphemous and physically dangerous act performed with the help of a blacksmith's daughter"
Hans asks, "Where did you come from, and why do you feel the need to darken our inn?"
Cat asks (of Hans), "Can we throw him in the lake now?"
Hans says (to Cat), "Good idea. He could use a bath."
Hans exclaims, "To the lake!"
Hans says (to Guy), "You can explain your business along the way."
Hans says (to Guy), "If we like your answers, we'll let you come up for air."
(From GM) Guy doesn't care to explain anything.
Hans says, "If not..."
Hans shrugs.
Hans heads off toward the lake, Guy still over one shoulder.
Cat follows with the carriage, singing an old witch-dunking song
(From GM) Guy mutters obscenities all the way.
Gert says (to Hans), "I'll see you back at the college--we better make sure people know these two are OK."
Gert hops back up on the driver's seat and takes the carriage the rest of the way home.
Hans exclaims (at Gert), "Alright -- have fun!"
[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Who has the carriage, Cat or Gert?"
[Helvetica] Gert says, "I've been the default driver, I think."
[Helvetica] Cat says, "tsk. I'll give it up, but I want to see the dunking"
Cat hops off the driver's seat, handing the mirror-bundle to Gert
[Helvetica] GM asks, "So, Cat and Hans off to dunk the troublemaker, and everyone else heading back to the college?"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "Sounds fine to me."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "Unless Nicolette wants to finishe her lesson."
[Helvetica] GM says, "Nicolette rather thinks she has enough for all the special occasions that might ever come her way."
GM says, "Nobody tries to stop Hans from dunking Guy."
Cat says, "Oh he blighted the sheep and he foundered the ox / If he comes up for air we will pelt him with rocks"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"
Hans asks (of Guy), "Anything to say for yourself?"
GM says (to Hans), "He just spits in your eye."
Hans walks out along the pier and dumps Guy in.
Gert takes the carriage into the college and looks for the Schreibers.
Hans says (to Guy), "You know, this is actually quite fun."
Hans exclaims (at Guy), "I suppose I owe you one!"
GM says (to Gert), "You find Master Bergen before you find the Schreibers."
Hans reaches down and offers Guy a hand up.
GM says (to Gert), "He looks completely harrassed."
GM says (to Hans), "Guy gets up on the pier and runs off at full speed."
Gert asks, "Master Bergen! I have Agathe! Have you seen Erich or Franzisca?"
[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Can I make a Finesse roll to catch him?"
(From GM) Bergen says, "What? Agathe Schreiber? Well, that's something, at least. I don't know where Erich and Franziska are. The rest of the Schreibers descended en masse a few days ago -- they're up at the schloss. Have you seen Brother Etienne?"
[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "sure."
Gert says, "We were just by the Monastery."
[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Did we see him there?"
[Helvetica] GM says (to Gert), "no"
Hans swings his foot out as Guy tries to run by.
[7thsea] Hans rolls 3k3: 1 4 9 | 14
[7thsea] GM rolls 3k3: 7 4 6 | 17
Cat says (to Hans), "it's entirely conceivable, you know, that this unpleasant person is of no particular consequence"
Gert says, "But he wasn't there; or at least we didn't see him."
Hans asks (of Cat), "You consider calling the Bartender's daughter a whore and starting a brawl in our inn to be of no consequence?"
[Crows-Nest] Gert says (to Cat), "When he's the focus of a Plot Hook? Unlikely! ;-)"
Cat says, "though maybe the landlord's daughter stands in need of a repaired reputation"
(From GM) Bergen pulls at his hair. "I wasn't expecting you to -- I was just hoping. He's been missing for three days now."
Gert asks, "Oh, my. Is Cujo around?"
Gert says, "Er, his dog."
[7thsea] Hans says, "Fortunately, his trail should be trivially easy for even Hans to follow."
[7thsea] Hans says, "Since he's currently sopping wet."
Hans says (to Cat), "We should at least see where he's rushing off to."
Cat says, "which, conveniently, is something I have even more expertise in than bullying the despicable"
Hans gestures at the wet footprints.
Gert asks (of Bergen), "Er.. I don't suppose any of the girls have gotten engaged in the last day or two, have they?"
(From GM) Bergen says, "Cujo? No. Actually, I saw him when I went looking for Brother Etienne at the monastery. The other monks were taking care of him."
Hans says, "After you."
[Helvetica] Cat says, "I meant reputation-repair rather than tracking, but oh well"
Gert nods.
(From GM) Bergen says, "engagements? Oh! More pleasant. There was a letter from Karnstein. Camilla's grandmother has found a match for her. Camilla left yesterday."
Gert says, "Oh! Well, I'm sorry I didn't get to say goodbye."
Gert asks, "Anything else happen whilst we were away?"
(From GM) Bergen says, "I should say so. I don't know if you've ever met Professor Schlegel ... the Baron's been trying to get him to come teach here."
Gert says, "I may have seen him in passing back at the Academy, if we're thinking of the same person, but we never were formally introduced."
Gert asks, "Did he come?"
(From GM) Bergen says, "Well, he didn't succeed, but ... well, Mrs Schlegel passed away a few days ago, bringing a little boy into the world ... and then it looks like someone stole her body from right out of the casket before the funeral."
Gert blinks.
Gert says, "Well, then."
[Crows-Nest] Gert says (to Arvid), "You're here too, if you want to join in."
[Crows-Nest] Gert says, "ilac, but still."
Gert asks, "And... ?"
(From GM) Bergen throws up his hands. "No-one knows anything! Schlegel even accused me of stealing the body for medical research! Me!"
Gert asks, "Wait, so he's in town?"
(From GM) Bergen says, "Yes, he's rented a couple of rooms from someone in town.
(From GM) Bergen says, "anyway, it's nothing to do with me."
Gert asks, "They were in town being recruited, then?"
Gert asks, "Or were they moving here?"
(From GM) Bergen says, "probably the same person who -- oh, yes, someone's been disturbing the expatriate tomb. Signora Scardanelli -- used to teach strategy ... anyway, I couldn't have had anything to do with that one.
Gert asks, "Grave robbing?"
(From GM) Bergen says, "What what? Oh, Schlegel? He's just here for a few days ... brought his kids with him to confront me (hah!) and he'll be heading back tomorrow or the day after or whenever he thinks little Theodore or whatever the boy's name is is ready to make the hike back to his village."
Gert asks, "The newborn?"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I am totally confused but I guess that's intentional"
Gert says (to Bergen), "You're being very confusing, you know."
[Helvetica] Gert says, "Heh, timing."
(From GM) Bergen says, "Graverobbing, yes. I knew Scardanelli, you know. A fine lady, and a really fine mind ... I must be running."
[Helvetica] Gert says, "I assume some of this is timing issues, too."
[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "how many people have had their bodies disturbed?"
[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Two?"
[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "Schlegel's wife?"
[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "and somebody in the expat tomb?"
[Helvetica] GM says, "Two: Mrs Schlegel and Signora Scardanelli."
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, so Scardanelli was the corpse, not the disturber"
[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "and the expat tomb is where we buried wossherface, right?"
[Helvetica] GM says (to Arvid), "right."
Cat's studied dalliance with his venal muses is little to our taste.
[Helvetica] Hans asks, "The ex-pat tomb being where the vampires are, right?"
Arvid frowns.
Cat arrives, looking for booty.
Arvid says, "perhaps we should have buried Lucille with a stake in her heart"
Arvid says, "it seemed a little excessive at the time and hard to explain to grieving parents, though"
[Helvetica] Hans says (to Arvid), "I don't think she had a heart per se when we buried her."
[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Wasn't she cremated?"
GM says (to Cat), "meanwhile, the wet footprints die out near the woods as Guy's feet dry out."
[Helvetica] Cat says, "urgh. sorry about that once again; connection flaked out"
[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Or am I misremembering?"
Cat says, "Well, it would appear we've run him out of town."
[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "She was buried, I believe."
Cat says (to Hans), "I suppose the landlord's daughter might be a line of inquiry worth pursuing"
Cat says, "or we could wash our hands of this whole tawdry affair"
(From GM) Bergen hurries off. He meets Trujillo further down the corridor, and the two go off downstairs together.
[Helvetica] Gert says, "Well, we got rid of whatever-it-was with the morning sunrise."
Gert shakes her head, and goes to look for the Schreibers.
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "well, we thought we did"
Gert also tucks the mirrors in a closet in her room, and thereafter sticks next to Agathe.
[Helvetica] Gert says, "I'm pretty sure we did, and that if there's more, it's another entity."
[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Which woods? Is this near the edge of the Schwarzen?"
[Helvetica] Gert asks, "I forget what we did with the wardrobe itself--burned it?"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "well, given that scarred corpse that got found .."
[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "I think so, yeah."
[Helvetica] GM says, "All woods around here eventually bleed into the Schwarzen if you go into them far enough."
[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "Well, there's Camilla."
[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "She got bitten and then left free to wander."
[Helvetica] Hans asks, "And then just coincidentally happened to leave campus right around the same time as the graverobbing, right?"
[Helvetica] GM says, "Within a week of, yes."
[Helvetica] Gert asks, "We haven't been gone *that* long, have we?"
[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Maybe 5 days?"
[Helvetica] GM says, "yes, about 5 or 6 days."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "We were in town for about two days, and probably took about two days to travel each way, I think."
GM says, "The Schreibers. There's the father, Gregor. Agathe, Erich, Franziska, and four more. Gregor keeps them in line with a little whistle."
[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ha ha ha"
[Helvetica] Gert asks, "I guess they weren't on campus, so we went to the schloss?"
[Helvetica] GM says, "right."
Cat wanders back towards the inn
[Helvetica] Gert says, "Sounds good."
GM says, "Bartender and a few helpful hands are cleaning up the mess."
[Helvetica] Gert says, "I guess Nicolette is tagging along too, unless she wants to go somewhere else."
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "has Agathe talked to Raoul? I'm confused"
Cat looks discreetly around for a young woman, moderately attractive and rather distressed
[Helvetica] Gert says, "He's not shown up yet; we're taking Agathe un-Porte-shielded to the Schreibers."
Hans checks on how his classes have been progressing in his absence.
[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Where's the mirror?"
[Helvetica] Alex says (to Hans), "Awwwk! Word on the street is that mirror is where the pretty birdies are."
[Helvetica] Gert says, "In my room."
GM says (to Cat), "the Bartender's daughter is helping with the cleanup."
GM says (to Hans), "Pierre is doing well. Erich isn't there, but apparently he's been doing well too. Andre-Nicolas has been skipping class."
Hans asks, "Where is he now?"
Hans says, "I shall go speak with him."
Cat affects to help cleaning up, not actually accomplishing a great deal, while assessing the daughter
GM says (to Hans), "Pierre says Andre is probably in the workshops."
Hans goes to the workshops.
[Helvetica] Hans says, "I wonder how much more work it is to pretend to help clean up without actually doing much cleaning than it would be to actually help clean."
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"
[Helvetica] Cat says, "acting is just simply the *hardest* job, dahling"
[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "Andre is probably starting to look like V."
GM says (to Cat), "Bartender says, 'see here, you don't have to scrub that one part of the counter quite that much. Spread the love.'"
[Helvetica] Hans asks, "V?"
[Helvetica] Alex says (to Hans), "Awwwk! Word on the street is that V is DorianX's very own VM."
[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "oots, I mean"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "Ah, right."
GM says (to Hans), "Andre is playing chess with what appears to be a life-size mechanical automaton stuck behind a wheeled cabinet."
Hans tosses Andre a practice sword he picked up along the way. "On your guard!"
Cat says (to daughter), "(aside) We threw that rat into the lake, so you might want to boil your water for the next few days."
[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "ha ha"
Gert witnesses the tearful reunion at the Schreibers.
[Helvetica] Gert asks, "'boil your water'?"
(From GM) daughter says, "Good. That brute!"
[Helvetica] GM says, "Because the rat's been in it."
[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ah, OK, ha."
(From GM) Andre says, "eh what? Oh!"
Cat asks, "Was he new in town, or is he likely to remain a problem?"
(From GM) Andre's class-skipping shows.
Hans asks (of Andre), "Here you are, practicing your strategy with this game, but you have completely forgotten all of the tactics I taught you?"
Hans slash feint maneuvre intimidate.
(From GM) daughter says, "I don't know where he came from or where he's going. He said his name's Guy Heimlich -- Montaigne mother, Eisen father -- and that he's got business that takes him back and forth across the border a lot."
(From GM) Andre says, "well, yes, but but but look! Mechanical brain!"
(From GM) Andre says, "won't Trujillo have to eat his words now!"
Hans nods. "Yes, not bad -- but has it beaten you yet?"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I didn't realize the guy's name was actually Guy"
Cat asks, "Are you going to be all right? I mean, are you having, ah, trouble with this sort of thing a lot?"
(From GM) Andre says, "well ... I beat her the first two or three times, but she's warming up ... she beat me the last time."
Hans parry duck st-- "*Her*?"
(From GM) daughter says, "I think I'll be staying away from men for a while, if that's what you mean."
(From GM) Andre says, "yes! Her name's ... er ... Morgana. Yes, that's right. Morgana."
Hans asks, "This mechanical brain of yours... it can hold a chess piece, but can it -- she -- hold a sword?"
Cat nods. "All right. If you need any help in the delicate and brutal art of reputation management, I'll be in town for a few weeks at least."
Hans says, "If you can teach her to fight, perhaps she can tutor you and help you make up for the classes you've missed."
[Crows-Nest] Cat says, "see also: Moxana"
(From GM) Andre says, "I suppose she could, but I didn't build her for swordfighting ... she doesn't have legs, see, she's just built as part of the cabinet with the chessboard. She plays Cribbage too. And Backgammon."
Hans swoop test sidestep disarm.
Cat applies a one-armed shoulder-hug and makes her way back to the school
[Crows-Nest] Gert says, "Oh, hey, good call."
Hans says, "A shame. You could have used one."
(From GM) Andre says, "...where's my sword?"
[Crows-Nest] Gert says, "http://girlgenius.wikia.com/wiki/Moxana for those playing at home."
Hans says, "Well, I must admit, your device *is* impressive."
(From GM) Andre says, "That's an idea. I could build another one to teach swordfighting."
Hans says, "But I would be more impressed had you managed to balance your studies with your extra-curricular activities."
(From GM) Andre says, "What do you mean? Have I missed a class?"
(From GM) Andre says, "...what day is it?"
Hans says, "Thursday."
(From GM) Andre says, "Aaaaahhh!!"
[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "ha ha"
Hans asks, "How long have you been awake, boy?"
(From GM) Andre says, "I lost track of time!"
Hans exclaims, "No *wonder* she's been beating you at chess!"
[Helvetica] GM asks, "What's Arvid up to, incidentally?"
[Helvetica] Gert says, "He was with me, last I checked."
[Helvetica] GM says, "ah."
[Helvetica] Gert asks, "And we are at the schloss, right?"
Hans exclaims (at Andre), "Get some sleep! Before Trujillo kicks you out of *his* class for not showing up!"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "So, um."
GM says (to Hans), "Andre hurries out of the workshop."
[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Who's going to go looking for Miss Guillotine?"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I don't really have a plan, although I intend to go to the tomb at some point"
Hans nods, then turns to Morgana.
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "she had to quit the workshop when Andre stopped bathing"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "alternately, maybe she's inside Morgana"
Hans asks (of Cabinet), "So, you're the one who's been making him miss class?"
[Helvetica] GM says, "Well, the Schreibers are basically busy updating each other on what's happening."
[Helvetica] Gert asks (of GM), "And no sign of Raoul?"
Cat says (to Hans), "You should be glad that he's showing an interest in girls."
Cat says, "Mechanical girls are a start, at least."
Hans says (to Cat), "Mmm? Mmm. Well, yes."
Hans says, "I admit, this is not entirely unlike young love..."
Hans exclaims (at Morgana), "All the more reason that you ought to be taking proper care of him!"
Gert sits down to talk to Erich when he's free for a minute. "So, tell me about this Raoul character."
GM says (to Hans), "Morgana is silent. She has no mouth."
Cat says, "I wonder how long it will take before she acquires a kissing function"
Hans fishes around in his pockets for a scrap of paper (actually, the back of a lunch menu) and a piece of crayon, which he gives to Morgana.
(From GM) Erich says, "Raoul? The rest of us barely ever met him. He seemed like a very charming fellow."
Hans says, "There."
Gert says, "Hmm, charming."
Gert asks (of Raoul), "And poor?"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "everyone knows charming is bad"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "you want uncouth interfering busy-bodies like us"
[Helvetica] Gert says, "'my parents raised me to be charming, not sincere.'"
[Helvetica] Gert says, "--Prince Charming, 'Into the Woods'"
Hans says (to Morgana), "If you have anything you'd like to say, perhaps this will help."
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"
[Helvetica] Cat says, "you're just jealous"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "you want Prince Sincere, next castle over"
(From GM) Erich shakes his head. "No, he had money. An allowance, he said, but with the revolution and everything, I don't know how that's working out."
Gert nods and sighs.
Hans says, "Nothing? Well, perhaps you'll have more to say to Andre."
(From GM) Morgana drops the crayon. The chessboard flips over and becomes a card table.
Cat asks (of Hans), "did he say that he taught her how to write?"
(From GM) Morgana shuffles a deck of tarot cards and picks out Death.
Hans says (to Cat), "Well, no."
Hans asks (of Cat), "But it seemed like the sort of thing he would do?"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "now she's just getting insulting"
Cat asks (of Morgana), "If you could qualify that, please?"
Gert says (to Erich), "Well... keep an eye on her, will you? She thinks Raoul is going to show up, since he's attuned to that ring of hers. And he might. But I have reason to think... he might not be the best of influences. I don't want to insult your sister, though. Just keep an eye on her, OK? And be there for her if she needs you. I sincerely hope that Raoul didn't fail to rescue her on purpose."
(From GM) Morgana shuffles the cards again and picks out the seven of swords. It shows a young man stealing a bunch of swords from a military encampment.
Hans asks, "A thief?"
Hans asks, "Or a swordsman?"
Hans says, "I suppose the latter would be an ace."
Hans asks (of Morgana), "Do you know something about a thief in Helvetica?"
[Helvetica] Gert says, "Odd for yes, even for no."
[Helvetica] (from Hans) Pike says, "<beep> <beep>"
Gert says, "Don't let Raoul take her away before I get a chance to talk to him."
(From GM) Morgana pauses. Then picks out the Final Judgement -- people rising out of the coffins at the blast of the last trump.
Cat says, "oh dear"
Hans says, "Hrm."
(From GM) Erich says, "Funny, Brigitta never trusted Raoul. We should listen to her more."
Hans asks (of Morgana), "Are you telling us something, or are you just dealing out a hand of Go Fish?"
Gert asks (of Erich), "Oh? Do you know why?"
Cat exclaims (at Morgana), "give me all your... dire portents!"
(From GM) Erich shrugs. "Hey, Brigitta! What was it you said about Raoul?"
[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "he's a no-good son of a *what*?"
Gert blinks, but takes it in stride.
[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Is this loudly to the whole room?"
[Helvetica] Cat asks (of Hans), "should we take a look at that graveyard, maybe?"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "The one that we don't know yet has been raided? Yeah."
Hans says (to Morgana), "Well, we'll take a look. If this is a Clue, then thanks."
[Helvetica] Gert says, "You could have run into Bergen (or someone similar) and have had a similar conversation."
Hans asks (of Morgana), "...but how would you know, if you've been inside here all this time?"
[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "Well, we just got the clue from Morgana."
(From GM) Brigitta comes over and says, "Well, he only ever had new things. But he said he belonged to a really old family -- the sort that always had an heirloom or something hanging about."
[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "So we have reason to suspect it, just not the confirmation that you have."
(From GM) Brigitta comes over and says, "and he *didn*t seem rich enough to be the sort that buys a completely new wardrobe every month."
[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "Oh!"
[Helvetica] Gert says, "Wow, I didn't catch that at all."
Gert frowns.
[Helvetica] Hans says, "I suspect the seven of swords is Guy."
Gert asks (of Brigitta), "What was he like, as a person?"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "But I'm not sure whom Death refers to. Possibly him as well."
[Helvetica] Gert says, "Well, the whole thing could just be 'dead things' 'steal' 'bodies leaving coffins'."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "Mmm."
(From GM) Brigitta says, "I just thought he seemed a little fake. Agathe and I had the most frightful row right before the wedding."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "Anyway, I'm up for Cat's suggestion, if it's IC."
Gert asks, "I'm sorry to hear that. What was it about?"
(From GM) Brigitta says, "I told her I didn't like him and that she was making a mistake."
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I guess if you want to pretend to be a noble during the french revolution, who's going to disbelieve you"
(From GM) Brigitta says, "Well, was she? Making a mistake?"
Gert says, "I hope not, but... well..."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "I guess maga's connection is probably flaking again."
[Helvetica] Cat says, "no, I'm here"
Gert says, "I'd rather talk to Raoul in person first, but I'm *very* interested in where he got the wedding ring."
[Helvetica] Hans asks (of Cat), "Should we go to the tomb like you suggested, then?"
[Helvetica] Cat says, "sure"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "(Or possibly to the caretaker thereof, if it's not proper to just barge right in.)"
(From GM) Brigitta says, "Oh? That was the one old thing I ever saw him have. I wondered then if I'd been wrong about him."
Hans and Cat go to investigate this rising-out-of-coffins thing.
GM says, "The expatriate tomb, currently holding nine bodies."
Hans looks for anything out of place.
GM says, "In (er, drawers. I forget if there's a proper word for it.)"
Gert says, "Well, don't let her run off with him again, and if he shows up, come and get me, OK? Or Hans."
GM says (to Hans), "One of the drawers has clearly been disturbed: Rosanna Scardanelli."
[Helvetica] Gert asks, "I about have to go; anything else here?"
(From GM) Brigitta says, "All right."
Gert says, "Thank you, dear."
Hans says, "Scardanelli... Scardanelli..."
[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Do I know the name?"
Gert looks at her and shakes her head. "I'm just glad she's safe."
Cat asks (of Hans), "you know, is it possible that there are other blackwood coffins around here?"
[Helvetica] GM says, "This is mostly build up, I think."
Hans says (to Cat), "Certainly. We're very close to the Schwarzen."
[Helvetica] Gert says, "My next plan is to head to the monastery and see if Cujo has been sent to look for Etienne and if not, do that thing."
Hans says, "And not everyone is as smart or wise as your or I."
[Helvetica] Gert says, "But I can do that next time."
[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "Scardanelli taught strategy some years before you arrived. You may have heard of her from the other teachers."
Cat says, "Maybe we should take a closer look."
Cat runs a finger speculatively along the edge of a tomb.
[Helvetica] GM says (to Gert), "sure."
GM says (to Cat), "it's been pried open recently."
Hans says, "It's already loosened."
Hans tries to open it.
Cat says, "Well, this is interesting."
GM says, "It opens easily."
[Helvetica] Hans asks, "And inside?"
[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "Alrighty, I'm out; I'll read transcript later. Wave!"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "Aw. Bye."
[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Since we're down a player, should we try to wrap up earlier if a good place arises, or should we keep going?"
GM says, "Inside, it is freezing cold. The body seems quite well-preserved, but the head is gone."
Cat says, "Oh... my."
Hans says, "Ack."
Hans says, "How rude."
Cat says, "I wonder if my book of monstrosities has anything to say about *this*."
Cat asks, "Oh - did you see who was meant to be in here, Hans?"
[Helvetica] Arvid gets off phone, sorry
Arvid arrives at the tomb, belatedly
Hans says, "Rosanna Scardanelli. She taught strategy before I came here."
Hans says, "I never knew her personally, and I'm not sure why anyone would want to do this to her."
Arvid says, "so if she died a while back, it seems unlikely a vampire was responsible"
Arvid asks, "say, did you talk to Andre and find out how his machine was going?"
[Helvetica] GM says, "Okay, I guess Arvid goes to the tomb while Gert heads off alone to the monastery. I'll say Nicolette stays with the Shreibers."
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "splitting the party is a good idea only if somebody's afk"
Hans says (to Arvid), "It can apparently beat him at chess, but I believe that's only because he hasn't slept in five days."
Hans says, "It also either plays Go Fish or performs Tarot readings. I'm not certain which."
Arvid asks, "chess, eh?"
Hans says, "Also, Cat thinks he might be in love with her."
Arvid says, "well, Cat is a fine-looking young woman"
Arvid says, "if a bit sharp-tongued"
Hans looks confused.
Arvid exclaims, "oh, the machine!"
Arvid says, "well, that's perfectly normal"
Arvid says, "I'm sure he was infatuated with his grappling gun for a while too"
Cat hands Arvid the monster book
Arvid stares back at the coffin
Cat asks, "Make yourself useful and try to work out what this means, won't you?"
Arvid says, "I don't suppose Andre would be so carried away as to look for another source of strategic knowledge for his machine .."
Cat says (to Arvid), "surely her brains would have decomposed long ago, even in this cold"
Arvid says, "come to think of it, what about Mlle Guillotine's machine"
Arvid says, "I suppose that could use a brain also"
Hans asks, "You think that's how the head was removed?"
Cat says, "she is the person with the most obvious penchant for decapitation around these parts"
Arvid says, "true"
Hans says, "That seems a bit overkill, seeing as it was already dead."
Arvid says, "I thought she'd given up the habit, but perhaps heads are hard to kick"
Arvid flips through the book
[Crows-Nest] (from Hans) GM penalizes Arvid one drama die.
[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "hee hee"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "here is an occult + wits roll"
[7thsea] Arvid rolls 6k4: 7 3 10+9 4 3 10+4 | 44
[Helvetica] GM says, "clearly she's lost her grip."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "That's not a bad roll."
[Helvetica] GM exclaims, "Okay!"
[Helvetica] GM says, "Decapitation is generally a method of dealing with vampires or with people who might become vampires."
Arvid scratches his head
[Helvetica] GM says, "There's no other occult reason for removing someone's head after death."
Arvid says, "well, vampires, of course"
[Helvetica] Cat asks, "and the deathly cold?"
[Helvetica] GM says, "And it's generally not something that Bad Evil Creatures do to innocent bodies."
Hans asks, "Are you saying that she was a vampire?"
Arvid says, "there's no other mythical significance that I can think of, though there is a legend about a horseman with his head removed"
Cat says, "Well, someone thought she was."
Arvid says, "but he carried it with him, and hers is clearly missing"
[Helvetica] GM says, "The deathly cold is because the tomb butts right up against a glacier."
Hans says, "She also has no horse."
Cat asks (of Arvid), "can you tell how the cut was made?"
Arvid asks, "true, but aside from that, it's a striking resemblance, don't you think?"
Arvid says, "well, besides the gender"
[Helvetica] Hans asks, "I.e. it could well have been preserved?"
Arvid examines the wound.
[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "yes."
Hans asks, "So we are looking for either a vampire hunter or else someone who likes frozen heads?"
Arvid says, "I still think it doesn't make much sense for someone to remove her head now, unless they removed all the heads in here"
GM says (to Arvid), "not cut by an expert. It's quite ragged, and the vertebra is chipped from several attempts to cut through it."
Cat pokes around the other tombs
Hans exclaims, "Good point!"
Hans looks for any remaining heads.
Arvid says, "see, it's a sloppy cut -- an amateur, or they didn't have the right tool for the job"
Arvid says, "oh, did you see Gert? we did hear another body had been disturbed"
Arvid says, "I don't think she was in this tomb, though"
Hans asks (of Arvid), "Whose?"
GM says (to Hans), "the other tombs are sealed. Presumably still with heads within."
Arvid says, "Mrs Schlegel -- the wife of a professor visiting here in our absence"
Hans says, "We could find out if there was anything special about Ms. Scardanelli."
Arvid says, "she died giving birth, and then her body was stolen before the funeral"
Arvid says, "a sensible suggestion"
Arvid says, "and if the same is true of Mrs Schlegel"
Hans says (to Arvid), "Hrm."
Hans says (to Arvid), "Are we certain it was stolen, and not..."
Hans gestures towards Lucille's place.
Arvid says, "well, it's true just because this is no vampire doesn't mean that one isn't"
Arvid says, "and the two cases are not otherwise all that similar"
Cat asks (of Arvid), "how do we know that this is no vampire, again?"
Arvid says, "Mrs Schlegel is nothing like a headless horseman"
Arvid says, "decapitation traditionally *prevents* the corpse from rising as a vampire"
Cat says, "I meant *before*, silly"
Arvid says, "but in this case it would have been unnecessary since, given that Scardanelli died some years ago, she surely would have risen by now"
Arvid says, "if she was in fact a vampire"
Hans says, "Perhaps she did, but her tomb was still sealed, so she couldn't get out."
Arvid says, "how distressing"
Hans says, "And then decided to take a nap until it was opened."
Cat says (to Arvid), "well, she could have done so discreetly, perhaps"
Cat asks, "how are these tombs sealed, exactly?"
Arvid asks (of Hans), "at which point they opened it and cut off her head for vampire activities?"
Hans shrugs. He's just randomly making things up at this point.
[Helvetica] Arvid asks (of GM), "would I have been able to tell if she was likely a vampire, even without a fang-y head to look at?"
[Helvetica] GM says (to Arvid), "with that roll? Yeah. She wasn't."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "I am still mulling over the suggestion that someone (Cat?) made that she might have been used by Andre for research."
[Helvetica] Cat says, "I think that was Arvid's"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "a minor point against that is he was purposely trying to construct an artificial brain, so using a real one seems like cheating"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "but I guess if he was just studying it"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "It doesn't seem any stranger than looking at birds before building a flying machine."
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "that's true"
Cat asks (of Hans), "so... how thorough are the school records?"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "And the glacial cold seems to support the possibility."
Hans says, "Oh, very. There is an entire basement full of them."
Hans says, "In large, unmarked boxes."
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"
[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "ok, so what do we want to do?"
[Helvetica] Cat says (to Hans), "I am quietly not pointing out the disadvantages of using a glacier to preserve a body"
[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "talk to andre again? go investigate the other person's body?"
[Helvetica] Cat says, "it seems like Cujo would be useful at this point"
[Helvetica] Hans says (to Cat), "I am also not pointing out the oddity of building a mausoleum someplace where the bodies are going to fail to decompose, thus never making room for future bodies once space begins to run out."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "Andre's sleeping, I hope."
[Helvetica] Cat says, "either to track the head or the entire body"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "But surely there are folks hanging around who knew Rosanna."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "And we probably know who those folks are."
[Helvetica] Hans says (to Cat), "Using Cujo also seems like a good idea, yeah."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "Also, it seems like Guy is not unlikely to somehow be connected with all of this."
[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "he hates women so he cuts off their heads?"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "Maybe he's a graverobber/vampire hunter."
[Helvetica] Cat says, "he steals bodies because he can't get a date"
[Helvetica] Hans says (to Cat), "..."
[Helvetica] GM says (to Cat), "hm"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "(I am guessing you didn't mean it in the way that I interpreted that.)"
[Helvetica] Cat says, "oh, I totally did"
[Helvetica] Cat says, "not that I consider this a likely possibility, or anything"
[Helvetica] GM asks, "so, where to now?"
[Helvetica] Cat exclaims, "Let's go and eat dinner and talk to old people!"
[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Cujo to track the body, interrogate the faculty/staff about Rosanna, try to find out about the Schlegels, something else?"
[Helvetica] Hans exclaims (at Cat), "OK!"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "we might want to put off Cujo until next time, since that's what Gert was doing"
[Helvetica] Cat says, "right"
Cat says, "Well, I'm starved and I have no desire to be bitten by a million cellar spiders. Let's go and interrogate some ancients."
Hans says, "Food does sound like a good plan."
(From GM) Cellar spider scuttles across the floor.
[Helvetica] Hans says, "So, off we go to dinner."
Arvid says (to Spider), "hey, you're infringing on the tomb spiders' union"
Cat skips off to the dining-hall. "So who do you think we should ask?"
GM says, "Dinner gossip revolves around whatever mystery man Camilla's grandmother has found for her. Whether she will or will not accept the proposal, and so on."
GM says, "Also, this is Elena's last day. She quit her job this morning."
[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "Noooo!"
[Helvetica] Cat says, "uh-oh"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "her work here is .. done"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hey, maybe she's raoul in disguise"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "Ha ha."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "That would explain the moustache."
Cat asks (of Elena), "so what are your plans now?"
Hans asks, "So who came to pick Camilla up?"
GM says, "Most of the usual college people are in the dining hall, including Andre, who keeps dozing off. Stefan Kramer is the only one missing."
Cat asks, "so what on earth is this soup made out of?"
(From GM) Elena says, "I just think it is time I moved on. I should like to go to Vendel, perhaps, or Avalon. Even a serving maid should get to see something of the world."
[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Was Stefan the one who discovered vanilla?"
[Helvetica] Cat says, "even a VAMPIRE FATE WITCH serving maid, you mean"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "Also, hmm. If Andre's here, we can ask if he knows anything about Rosanna's head."
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"
GM says (to Hans), "Various other faculty members inform you that Camilla's grandmother sent a carriage, along with an old, trusted servant, to collect Camilla."
[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "yep, Vanilla guy."
Arvid says, "you can't trust those old, trusted servants"
GM says, "(oh yeah. Trujillo and his old, trusted servant Pedro aren't there either. But then they never are.)"
Arvid asks, "see?"
Hans asks (of Andre), "Still not sleeping yet?"
(From GM) Andre says, "Z."
Arvid finds somebody who's been at college a while and strikes up a conversation about Rosanna
Hans says (to Andre), "Ah, right."
Hans asks (of Andre), "Say, when you were working on Morgana, you didn't... use any... models... to work off of... did you?"
(From GM) Maria von Pinn says, "Oh yes, Signora Scardanelli. She passed away two years after I first started. She made quite an impression on me, with her black dresses and veils."
(From GM) Andre says, "eh? models? what d'ye mean?"
(From GM) Maria von Pinn says, "I remember when she fell ill. I used to visit ... we'd play Backgammon and Cribbage well into the night."
Arvid looks thoughtful.
Hans asks (of Andre), "Did you, er... base your machine on any... *real* brains?"
Arvid asks, "Vodacce, she must have been, eh? did she do tarot readings, like the other Vodacce women?"
(From GM) Andre says, "why?"
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "this is just leading up to Hans grabbing Andre by the collar and shaking him and shouting "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH HER BRAIN YOU ZOMBIE???""
Hans says (to Andre), "Well. It's just that one has gone missing. And I'm certain you couldn't have had anything to do with it, surely, but it is an odd coincidence."
[Helvetica] Arvid says, "also, "why" is a hilarious response there"
[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yes."
(From GM) Maria von Pinn says, "On occasion. There was an idea going around, when she first came, to teach certain .... Vodacce-specific skills to students from that nation. The Vodacce Princes decided against it, in the end, but by then she was too much a part of the family to just go back."
[Helvetica] Hans says, "Ha ha."
