[Helvetica] Cat says, "urgh, sorry; mud did this weird thing where my input froze but nothing else did"

GM says, "Logging."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Time should stop still like that."

[Helvetica] Cat exclaims, "time to take a crowbar to some machines!"

GM asks, "So! What was Hans up to, while everyone else was investigating Stefan Kramer?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "How did we end two weeks ago?"

Gunther arrives, looking for booty.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "We had left the crypt, gone to dinner, found out about the First Geneva Fate Witch (deceased, headless)..."

[Helvetica] GM says, "We ended with Stefan freaking out about a suggestion to bring in Fate Witches to the school. He ran off shortly after, with Cat snooping along behind."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Has anyone else been skipping class? Like Ms G?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "we left you at dinner"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "yeah, we don't know where she is"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I suppose at dinner I'd ask if where she has been."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Antoinette Guillot has been using the heavy weapons class (the only class she's in, incidentally) as a testing ground for her new invention."

GM says, "... and she would LOVe to give you a private demonstration."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Excellent! How has it been doing?"

Hans says, "That sounds like a marvellous idea."

Hans says, "I should very much like to see what sort of weapon she has been working on."

Cat says, "no doubt she'll show you hers if you show her yours"

[Crows-Nest] Hans says (to Hans), "Poor choice of words there."

(From GM) Antoinette says, "Well, come along, I'll show you."

[Crows-Nest] Hans says, "(Er. Or not, since I see my last comment got swallowed up and never appeared. Never mind.)"

Hans asks (of Antoinette), "Have you been testing it against the other students?"

(From GM) Antoinette says, "Oh yes. I can easily take down most of the students with it ... I think there are one or two more adjustments I need to make; Des Amis seems to have figured out a way to stop it altogether, which is no fun at all."

(From GM) Antoinette pulls a sheet of canvas off of a complicated mass of pulleys and wheels and rods and stuff.

Hans says, "It reminds me of a siege weapon of some sort."

Hans asks, "Which bit holds the sword?"

(From GM) Antoinette climbs into it and begins buckling herself in. "That extension there. Would you buckle it to my right hand for me?"

Hans straps it on. "Ah, so you ride inside of it? I suppose that you haven't been able to fight against it yourself yet, then."

(From GM) Antoinette says, "Oh, I think of it more as a sort of armour. Like dracheneisen, only not."

Hans raises an eyebrow dubiously.

Hans asks, "Shall we try a practice duel?"

(From GM) Antoinette says, "I thought you'd never ask!"

Hans draws his sword, then tries to figure out what part of this contraption is which...

[Crows-Nest] Hans asks, "Initiative?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Initiative"

[7thsea] GM rolls 3 dice: 9 2 4

[7thsea] Hans rolls roll 2 dice:

[7thsea] Hans rolls 2 dice: 1 9

(From GM) Antoinette picks up a practice sword and takes a standard stance.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "For phase 1, let's start with a disarm attempt."

[7thsea] Hans rolls 7k4: 7 9 9 9 3 3 1 | 34

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Versus her Brawn + Attack."

[7thsea] GM rolls 6k5: 9 4 7 2 10+6 5 | 41

Hans exclaims, "Impressive strength!"

(From GM) Antoinette says, "Thank you!"

(From GM) Antoinette attempts a standard attack.

[7thsea] GM rolls 4k3: 4 7 8 5 | 20

[Helvetica] GM asks, "a hit, I think?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(Sorry, was called away by the door.)"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yes."

[7thsea] GM rolls 8k2: 7 2 10+4 2 10+2 2 3 9 | 26

Hans gently deflects the blow with his panzerhand.

Hans says, "But I see that it doesn't affect your technique."

[Helvetica] GM says, "(Of course, this being a sparring thing, we're not actually causing real wounds.)"

(From GM) Antoinette says, "It does help my precision just a little bit ... that's nearly impossible to do very much with, really."

[7thsea] GM rolls 4k3: 1 3 5 2 | 10

(From GM) Antoinette misses completely on her second attempt.

Hans says, "So you must still remember not to neglect your practice."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "That will give me two free raises for my next attack."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Which will be another disarm attempt."

[7thsea] Hans rolls 7k4: 2 5 9 10+4 2 6 5 | 34

(From GM) Antoinette says, "I was going to spend today practicing, of course, but then the Schreibers and that new girl -- Nicolette, I think? -- came in...."

[7thsea] GM rolls 6k5: 3 7 8 7 6 7 | 35

(From GM) Antoinette just manages to keep her sword.

[7thsea] GM rolls 4k3: 8 9 3 3 | 20

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Keep it?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "With my two raises, isn't that 44 versus 35?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Oh, the two free raises, I forgot"

(From GM) Antoinette just manages to keep her sword for a split second and then it goes end-over-end into a corner.

Hans says, "Remarkable work."

(From GM) Antoinette says, "needs more work."

Hans says, "Well, a sword is only as good as its swordsman."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ouch, rubbing it in"

Hans says, "If you practice your fighting, then surely you and your new device will be a formidable combination."

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "Encouraging her to keep at her studies!"

(From GM) Antoinette says, "I would have made a few improvements, but *some* people were practicing Porte sorcery in here."

Hans asks, "Oh really? Who was that?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "nicolette, I assume"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "We wouldn't want her to skip her training to work on the device, like some students I could name."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

(From GM) Antoinette says, "Calls herself Nicolette ... never saw her before today (could you unbuckle my hands, please?) I wouldn't trust her, you know...."

Hans frees Antoinette from the device and helps her down.

Hans says (to Antoinette), "Oh? She seemed perfectly nice when I met her. A bit naive, perhaps."

(From GM) Antoinette seems to need rather more help than expected, getting down.

[Crows-Nest] Hans says, "Speaking of which, let me hold your hand in a perfectly platonic teacher-student manner as I help you down."

(From GM) Antoinette says, "she had a little miniature portrait that she said was of her mother. But I know the woman in that portrait quite well."

[Crows-Nest] Cat says, "well, at least she didn't ask to *stay* strapped in"

Hans asks, "Oh really?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Was Judge Dupin married?"

[Crows-Nest] Hans says, "Hee."

(From GM) Antoinette says, "her name was Arlene Renard and she was one of the first people my auto-executioner beheaded, before the revolution when it was used for real criminals."

Hans asks, "Did Lady Renard have any children?"

(From GM) Antoinette says, "Three, I think. All by different fathers. And she wasn't a lady -- she started out as a prostitute."

[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "hunh"

(From GM) Antoinette says, "I suppose she must have been the illegitimate child of some noble ... she had a talent for blooding her customer's valuables and filching them after they'd gone home."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I guess maybe we shouldn't give nicolette the happy news, then"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "it also seems highly possible that Nicolette isn't actually Dupin's"

Hans says, "What an unfortunate way for her family's bloodline to end up."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Cat), "She's an orphan."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "oh, yes, right"

(From GM) Antoinette says, "Later on she progressed to burglary. She seduced some poor lawyer who got her out of a few tight scrapes, until he saw the light and dropped her. She was implicated in a murder attempt after that, and that's how she wound up under the blade."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hmm"

Hans asks, "A lawyer? He didn't later become a judge, did he?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I guess it makes sense that the early autoexecutioner people were legitimately guilty"

[Helvetica] Arvid says (to Hans), "oh, nice"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I guess Antoinette wasn't actually *from* the town where we met her."

(From GM) Antoinette shrugs. "He might have. I didn't hear about it until the gossips got hold of the story and embellished it with all sorts of interesting details."

Hans asks, "Were there badgers involved?"

(From GM) Antoinette says, "Some stories say he -- badgers? He wasn't Avalonian, I don't think."

Hans says, "Ah. My mistake."

Hans says, "You know, you ought to talk to young Andre."

(From GM) Antoinette says, "Andre? Why?"

Hans says, "He's been working on some device as well, but unlike you, he couldn't seem to find the time to do his own project *and* attend class as well."

Hans says, "So I think that you might be a good influence on him."

(From GM) Antoinette smirks. "Of course."

[Crows-Nest] Hans says, "That, and I'd like to see you integrate your two machines in order to create an undead fighting robotic Fate Witch."

[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "I loved that show"

[Crows-Nest] Cat says, "which would then inevitably turn on us"

[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "I. PREDICT. YOU. WILL. DIE. NOW"

[Crows-Nest] Hans exclaims (at Cat), "That's why I want them to do it!"

Hans asks, "Does your contraption have a name yet?"

(From GM) Antoinette says, "No name ... perhaps I'll call it a Guillotine. That has a nice ring to it, don't you think?"

[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "TOO CONFUSING"

[Crows-Nest] (from Hans) Morgana deals the Death card. Morgana deals the Death card. Morgana deals the Death card. Morgana deals the Death card...

[Crows-Nest] GM says, "What? We already have St-Bernards that are called 'Alsatians' in-game."

[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "good point"

[Crows-Nest] Hans says, "The Guillotine Exo-skeletal Armored Robot."

Hans says, "It could go down in history."

[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "and it's solid, I suppose"

(From GM) Antoinette says, "Oh yes. Although that's not really why I made it."

Hans asks, "Oh? What was your original goal?"

(From GM) Antoinette says, "Welllll ... someone told me that you have a little rule that you'd only marry a woman who could defeat you in a fight ... and I was thinking ..."

(From GM) Antoinette kisses Hans on the forehead. "I have to go practice now. See you tomorrow!"

Hans says, "Ah -- so you are thinking that you will only marry a man who can defeat you with your armored suit? An excell-- b-- uh---"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "that is good thinking"

Hans says, "Er. Yes. Tomorrow. Excuse me. I have to go find Gert now. I have something to ask her."

(From GM) Antoinette runs off, going 'tee hee hee' all the way.

Hans hurries away to locate Gert.

GM says, "MEANWHILE, it is getting late, and Stefan Kramer needs to feed his plants. Not a pretty sight, as he embarrassedly tells you, ushering you out."

Cat says, "Hm. He doesn't exactly seem enthused by my proposition."

Cat says, "I'll have to do something about that, one way or another."

Cat asks, "Now don't we have to break open an automaton to rescue a thawed brain?"

Arvid says, "well, I suppose"

Arvid says, "I'm not sure it's as urgent as trying to find the whole body that's missing"

Arvid says, "after all, we know where the head is"

[Setting the zoned flag.]

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "(also, if we crack it open it can't go rampaging around etc)"

Cat says, "well I think it's ghastly"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "Rampaging? All it does is play Parcheesi and tell fortunes!"

Arvid says, "well, yes, but from a scientific perspective it has some interesting aspects .."

[Crows-Nest] GM says, "Parcheesi is a dangerous game."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Also, OOC, I am all in favor of rampaging."

Cat asks, "well, if it's really not that important, why am I missing out on my sleep?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "But I guess you know that from how the first prison break went."

Arvid says, "good question, I haven't slept well since we left for Montaigne the first time"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "so, er, do we want to skip to tomorrow? or what?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I assume it's getting late-ish"

[Helvetica] GM says, "We can skip to the next morning, sure."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "In the morning, Andre will be able to think straight and might be able to answer some questions."

[Crows-Nest] Cat says, "sounds good"

[Crows-Nest] Cat says, "ilak"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And/or realize what we intend to do and formulate a clever defense plan against it."

GM says, "Next morning."

Arvid wakes up and reconvenes with Hans and Cat and Gert

Arvid says (to Hans), "...so he said this fellow was an Inquisitor, and was threatening him to return the body or there'd be consequences"

Hans asks (of Arvid), "But he says he didn't have it?"

Arvid says, "so he says"

Arvid says, "and I suppose he's reasonably trustworthy"

Cat says, "Well, he had a great deal of blood. He said he got it from the butcher, though."

Hans says, "I suppose he wouldn't, if those orchids have been hungry lately."

Arvid says, "well, I'm not sure they eat the meat as well"

Arvid says, "we should ask the butcher what exactly he's buying"

Hans asks, "Did he say what those bean things we were eating the other day were raised on?"

Cat says, "I wouldn't have thought he was man enough to kill someone and chop up the body, but he was there at that autopsy..."

Cat says (to Hans), "those are the blood orchids, yes"

Hans exclaims, "Oh!"

Arvid says, "I suppose it's no worse than a blood sausage"

Arvid says, "not that this is saying much"

Hans asks, "Didn't the deceased woman die of natural causes?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Actually, the body (from when he first got into trouble with the Inquisition) was already dead ... it was a vintner who'd dropped dead at this party thrown by the Falisci governor...."

Cat says, "which might pose a bit of a problem for production, but I intend to keep things small-scale and exclusive at first anyway"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "whoah, what??"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, wait"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I think I'm confused again."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "This is different from the mother?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I am guessing this is another little shop of horrors ref"

[Helvetica] GM says, "(Sarge's #Vodacce)"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "but if it is actually true in-world that he has been doing stuff with bodies before I would like to know that"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, heh, right"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "but, uh, was Stefan really a character from there?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "You'd have to ask Sarge about that."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ok, I am goign to assume this is all a tangent we don't know about and/or isn't true"

Arvid and the others walk over to the butcher's as they talk.

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Kramer, Granade, what's the difference?"

Arvid exclaims (at butcher), "ah, my good fellow!"

Cat asks, "Well, shouldn't we be dressing students down about grave-robbing?"

Hans says, "A large pork sausage, please."

Hans asks (of Cat), "Before breakfast?"

(From GM) Butcher says, "Good morning!"

Cat says, "I mean, youthful high spirits are one thing"

Arvid says (to butcher), "I was just talking to Stefan and found out he'd been making some unusual requests -- I hope they haven't been inconveniencing you"

Arvid says, "Stefan has a way of getting a little carried away"

(From GM) Butcher says, "We do have some excellent pork sausage ... Ah, Herr Kramer? He usually picks up a bucket or two of blood every morning. Also some blood sausage."

[Crows-Nest] Hans says, "I wonder if it's going to turn out that we're the only ones at the school who aren't sparks, sorcerers, or hiding behind false identities."

Arvid . o O ( blood sausage? sinister )

[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "hee hee"

(From GM) Butcher says, "He says he's trying to perfect a recipe for blood sausage."

Arvid says, "...yes, yes, no doubt that is what he is up to"

Cat says (to Butcher), "ah, the wonders of the scientific mind"

Arvid asks, "and he's been doing that every single day? for how long?"

[Crows-Nest] Gunther asks, "this butcher, is his name Todd?"

[Crows-Nest] Hans says, "Nah, he's in Bois-Franc."

Arvid says, "I wouldn't think blood sausage could be perfected, but that's why I'm the historian and he the biologist"

[Crows-Nest] Hans says, "We already met his wife."

[Crows-Nest] Gunther asks, "Mr. Swenois Todt, then?"

Cat asks, "Very well. You've made me stand around in an abbatoir before breakfast. Can we go and harass some children now, please?"

(From GM) Butcher thinks. "He started with a bucket every other day, about a week after he first got here. Then it went up to a bucket every day. Just a couple of weeks ago, he suddenly wanted an extra bucket, every three or four days, in addition to the regular bucket-a-day."

[Crows-Nest] Gunther says, "a blutwurst a day keeps the doctor away"

Cat exclaims, "Maybe he's a vampire!"

[Crows-Nest] Gunther says, "old german saying"

Cat exclaims, "And his flock of vampires is expanding!"

[Crows-Nest] Hans says, "Beauclaire."

Cat asks (of Butcher), "Where is your sense of civic responsibility, sir?"

(From GM) Butcher says, "Blood sausage looks simple enough, but no, there's a lot of different regional ways of doing it. My mother, who came from (rhubarb rhubarb rhubarb)"

Hans asks (of Cat), "If there were a vampire on the loose, and it were happy with pig's blood, wouldn't it be your 'civic responsibility' to make sure it had as much as it could drink?"

(From GM) Butcher says, "Eh? I kill defenceless animals for a living."

Hans exclaims, "Rhubarb, in a blood sausage? I'll take one!"

(From GM) Butcher says, "I don't know anything about vampires. Although, my grandfather ........."

Cat's ears prick up

[Crows-Nest] (from Hans) Butcher says, "(garlic garlic garlic)"

[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "hee hee hee"

Arvid says, "oh? I happen to be interested in stories of the occult, please share"

[Crows-Nest] Cat says, "do tell us your fascinating story about your unwashed ancestor, filthy hacker of carcasses"

[Crows-Nest] Hans says, "What? But I already did."

(From GM) Butcher says, "He was attacked by a vampire, once, when he was little. And his grandmother, she said that this meant he'd become a vampire when he died. It seemed a sin, you know, burying a good man with a stake through his heart. Terrible. My cousin Bertha cried for days."

[Crows-Nest] (from Gunther) Butcher says, "That's how my father invented shish kebab, though"

Hans says, "But if butchery ran in your family, then you must have had plenty of steaks to spare."

[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "a little light comedy about your family tragedy"

(From GM) Butcher says, "Nothing compared to Mad Adolf, though, up in Kleinberg. *He* was buried in blackwood, which was just asking for it, if you ask me."

Arvid asks, "why, blackwood too?"

Hans says, "How true, how true."

Arvid says, "you've got no end of useful information for us"

Hans asks (of Arvid), "You haven't heard the story about Uncle Adolf?"

[Crows-Nest] Arvid asks, "though I guess this is the guy Hans's story was about, right?"

(From GM) Butcher says, "I avoid anything to do with that lot, from around the Schwarzen. Kleinberg, Karnstein -- wait, *Uncle* Adolf??

Arvid exclaims (at Hans), "getting it confirmed by a second source is always useful!"

Arvid says, "you can often compare the two versions to remove any bias from a single observer and get at the truth hidden behind .."

Cat asks (of Hans), "Are your family connected to the Karnsteins in any manner?"

(From GM) Butcher says, "Here's your blood sausage, sir, with rhubarb. Will that be all?"

Hans says (to Butcher), "Yes. Uncle Adolf Kleinberg. He is not a well-respected member of the family tree, so I shall forgive the slight against him. Provided it is limited to him alone."

Hans says, "Or his sister, Edda."

Hans says, "But the less said about her the better."

(From GM) Butcher says, "Of course." Shifty-eyes. "Nothing to say at all."

Hans says (to Cat), "I don't remember any particular connections, but I wouldn't be surprised if some second cousin of mine had once married a third cousin of hers."

Hans munches the sausage. "Huh. Not bad. But it needs garlic."

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "so what should we follow up on next?"

Hans says, "We'll have to suggest that Stefan add some in his recipe."

(From GM) Butcher says, "Of course."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Morgana?"

Arvid mutters "great, just what we need, orchids with bad breath"

Hans exclaims (at Arvid), "Orchids that naturally repel vampires!"

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "well, shouldn't we get the children's side of things before we take a hammer to the intricate clockwork?"

Hans asks, "What could be more convenient than that?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ok, that's true"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Is Andre the children in question?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Also, who said anything about a hammer?"

Arvid says, "let's go find Franziska"

GM says, "Baron Schriftsteller's carriage goes trundling by. Looks like he's paying someone an out-of-state visit."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Why don't we just ask Morgana what *she* wants?"

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "didn't Stefan mention another child mentioning ganking brains?"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "one of the girls - lemme find the transcript"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "What was going on with Franziska?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "That would be Franziska."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Aha."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I wonder if she plans to leave them in Trujillo's bed."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hmm"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I suppose they might plan to accumulate a whole bunch of brains"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "so they stole the other body too"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "They?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "and Erich"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Mmm. Maybe they're going to team up with Andre to produce an entire army of Parcheesi-playing fortune-tellers."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

Arvid asks around for Franziska and Erich and Andre

Cat says, "separate interrogations, I think"

GM says, "And you find them."

Hans asks, "Should we draw straws?"

Arvid says, "ah, just the recalcitrant students we were looking for"

Hans says, "Good morning."

Cat says, "Today we're conducting an impromptu special seminar on medical ethics."

(From GM) Recalcitrant students say, "Good morning."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha"

Hans whispers (to Arvid), "What's that mean?"

Arvid says (to Hans), "it means they're in trouble"

Hans nods in agreement.

Cat asks, "Professor Kjellsen?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hmm, it occurs to me we hardly have the moral high ground to gripe about them missing class when we keep trotting off to Montaigne"

Arvid says, "thank you, Cat"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Has Erich or Franzie been missing class as well?"

[Helvetica] Cat asks (of Arvid), "since when has that ever been a problem for an authority figure?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I thought I heard that Erich was attending regularly."

Arvid says, "now, if you will examine here, exhibit A, Morgana, a charming thinking-machine skilled in Parcheesi, chess, and fortune-telling"

[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "no, they've been quite regular."

Arvid says, "exhibit B, a headless corpse, skilled in Parcheesi, chess, and fortune-telling"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Good, good. Keeping up with their fiber, I imagine."

Arvid says, "I invite testimony as to the location of the missing head"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, I thought Andre was missing"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yeah, he was."

Arvid says, "feel free to also discuss exhibit C, another missing body"

Arvid says, "and exhibit D, detention, where you will end up if you don't give satisfactory answers"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "But I figured you had something more than 'and where have you been when you were supposed to be learning about the third Punic War?' in store for him."

[Helvetica] GM says, "I mean, Erich and Franziska have been regular, Andre's been missing."

(From GM) Franziska says, "That was my fault, sir, I --"

(From GM) Erich says, "No it wasn't, it was mine!"

(From GM) Andre says, "It was my invention, they had nothing to do with it."

Cat exclaims, "Children! Raise your hand and speak in turn!"

Hans says, "If we'd like, we can each go into separate rooms, so you can all give your stories uninterrupted."

(From GM) Franziska says, "Shut up, you two, the business with the head was my idea -- yes, Miss."

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "Miss? She's not even a teacher here!"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "And she's got a worse student record than any of them!"

Cat says, "Franziska, you first."

[Helvetica] Cat says (to Hans), "it's all about how you present things, dear"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "if you were a historian you would know that getting older puts a charming sheen on all your misbehaviors of earlier"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Is this like how Mr. Kotter understands how to talk to sweathogs?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(Now I have probably utterly confused the non-American 50% of this group.)"

[Crows-Nest] Gunther says, ""raise your hands.... now slap yourselves with them""

(From GM) Franziska says, "It was from something I read in Prof Trujillo's room. He'd left his charts and notes out and there was all sorts of information on doing things with brains. Andre was having trouble with his machine, so I t-- I went and got the brain for him."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "now there's a helpful girlfriend"

Arvid asks, "got it? from where?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "That could interfere with my attempt to set up Andre and Antoinette."

(From GM) Franziska says, "From the expatriate tomb."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "We may end up with some sort of infernal Love Pentagram."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And that's not even counting that chyk who may have had the hots for Gert."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

(From GM) Erich says, "That's not how it happened at all!"

Arvid asks, "why did you pick that particular .. specimen?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(Was she the same one who got vamped and then carted away to get married?)"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hmm, was she? that would make sense"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "It would?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "then a week later she will show up on Gert's doorstep claiming intolerable cruelty"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "sure, lesbians are always the ones who get turned into vampires"

(From GM) Franziska says, "...I flipped a coin."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "or werewolves, depending on which movie this is"

Arvid says (to Erich), "well, then, feel free to give your version"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I thought the werewolves were straight."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hmm, maybe"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "That way they can have sex with the unwitting male humans who then end up being infected later."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "(there is actually a particular werewolf movie I'm thinking of but don't remember the title)"

(From GM) Erich says, "My sister had nothing to do with it. I was the one who read Prof Trujillo's notes ... that night, after you caught me outside his window, I sneaked back in to see if Franziska was okay and that's when I saw those notes."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(I am probably thinking of American Werewolf In Paris.)"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "'lesbian werewolf' has lots of funny hits, though"

Hans says, "I knew we shouldn't have let you wander off by yourself."

(From GM) Erich says, "And I picked Signora Scardanelli because I knew she'd taught pretty much the same sort of things that Andre wanted his machine to be able to do."

Hans asks, "Playing boardgames and dealing Tarot cards?"

(From GM) Andre says, "Playing chess, mostly. The rest was a bonus."

Cat asks, "So the brain is now... inside Morgana?"

(From GM) Andre says, "Um. Some of it."

Cat asks, "Anything else?"

Arvid asks, "...and the rest of it?"

(From GM) Andre says, "I only really needed the logic bits ... I left everything else out."

Hans says, "Andre, I am very disappointed in you."

(From GM) Andre hangs his head.

Hans says, "Not only did you cut apart the body parts of one an unwilling victim, *and* missed class to work on your project..."

Hans asks, "But you also claimed to have built a mechanical brain from scratch, when it was really built from pieces of a real human brain?"

Hans sighs.

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Desecration of corpses and truancy are one thing. But academic dishonesty as well?"

Arvid says, "it's true this seems to invalidate it as a refutation to Professor Trujillo"

[Crows-Nest] (from Gunther) Hans says, "140 points from Gryffindor."

Arvid asks (of Erich), "what exactly were his notes about, anyway?"

[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "ha ha"

(From GM) Erich says, "uh---"

[Crows-Nest] Hans says (to Arvid), "I'm guessing 'brains'."

(From GM) Franziska says, "Reanimating corpses."

Arvid sighs

Arvid says, "so I suppose you looked at the notes, and you went and got the head"

(From GM) Franziska says, "there were other things, besides brains. How to reconnect a voicebox, fixing up lungs, and so on."

Arvid says, "well, at least he's thorough"

Hans says, "Those things seem as though they would be useful even without the 'corpse' part."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "what is Trujillo nominally a professor of?"

Cat asks (of Hans), "What do we tell their parents, do you think?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Reanimating corpses."

(From GM) Franziska says, "he had no business saying the things he did. I think he was just scared that someone else would do ... that ... before he did."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, ""Dear Mr and Mrs Schreiber: Erich and Franziska have put in constant attention to their brains this semester""

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Ha ha."

Hans says (to Cat), "That is a good question."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I suppose he's the one who stole the corpse then, hunh"

Hans says, "This seems difficult to brush off with a simple detention or two."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "So what did Franzie actually do, besides helping cover for Erich?"

Hans says, "Graverobbing is a serious crime. We *should* turn them over to the Baron."

Cat says, "However, it seems that Trujillo's carelessness and... inappropriate... choice of study influenced them somewhat"

(From GM) Andre says, "I thought the Baron left for Karnstein this morning."

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "It *is* still this morning!"

Cat says, "certainly some of the blame could be laid at his door"

[Helvetica] GM says, "earlier this morning."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Also, hmm. Guess he'll be coming back as a vampire."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "she broke into Trujillo's room"

Hans says (to Cat), "But there is a large difference between imagining what could be done with a body and actually breaking into a tomb to do it."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Oh yeah."

[Crows-Nest] Hans says, "That was not *intended* to sound suggestive."

[Crows-Nest] Hans says, "But, y'know. If the necromance novel fits..."

Cat says, "That's true. All those scandalous romance-adventure novels I read at their age never influenced my behaviour one bit."

[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "ha ha"

Arvid says, "thank goodness"

(From GM) Andre says, "I guess I should go pack my trunk, then?"

Hans asks (of Andre), "If we send you away, do you think that will make you less likely to do something like this again in the future?"

Arvid says, "there is the possibility he will turn into a reclusive inventor preying on passers-by"

(From GM) Andre says, "I'll try." (Behind him, Erich shakes his head, "no".)

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ok, so what would be a reasonable punishment"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "since I assume we don't actually want to kick them out"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "presumably Andre at least has to make up all his schoolwork and not get behind again"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I think we need to arrange for someone to keep constant watch on him."

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "also, what do we do with Morgana?"

Hans asks (of Erich), "Tell me: do you want to see Andre get kicked out of school?"

(From GM) Erich says, "No sir."

Hans asks (of Erich), "Or worse: do you want him to become the sort of monster who thinks nothing of robbing graves for his research?"

Cat asks, "When you started out on this, what did you seriously think would be the outcome?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I am wondering if we can get Erich to watch Andre and prevent him from doing it again."

(From GM) Erich says, "No sir!"

Hans asks (of Erich), "Are you willing to watch Andre the rest of the time he's here, and make sure that he never does anything like this again?"

(From GM) Andre says, "Uh. I was just thinking I wanted to prove that intelligence could be recreated."

Arvid says, "and make sure he doesn't get behind on his schoolwork again"

Hans asks, "And make sure he doesn't get behind on his schoolwork again?"

(From GM) Andre says, "And prove Trujillo wrong ... although, now I think about it, if he had all those notes, he must have already had some idea."

Cat says (to Hans), "Do you think that Andre can be trusted with workshop privileges? It seems a shame to squash a talent, even one as... um..."

(From GM) Erich looks from Hans to Arvid and back and says, "I do that, sirs."

Hans says (to Cat), "If he's monitored, maybe."

Hans says (to Erich), "Remember, you're not just doing this for the sake of the rules or the law. You're doing it for Andre."

Arvid says (to Franziska), "and as for you, you had better let Andre fight his own battles, and leave Professor Trujillo alone"

(From GM) Erich says, "Uh, can I get Pierre Pervenche to help? (I'm not sure I can handle Andre alone when he gets in one of his Special Moods.)"

Cat says, "Oh, I know - probation! You have to write weekly personal reports and keep an extra-dreadful curfew and - ugh, it's just horrible."

Hans says, "Yes, that sounds like a very good idea."

Arvid says, "...I'm sure Pierre is guilty for *something* even if we didn't catch him this time"

Hans says (to Arvid), "He did leave school without permission a few weeks ago."

Cat asks (of Arvid), "(whisper) Wait, when did they stop caning here?"

Arvid says (to Cat), "I believe it was after a certain girl and the Chainmail Underpants incident"

Hans says (to Erich), "And make sure he remembers to sleep, too."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I ahve been on the fence about whether or not we should recommend that ANtoinette help watch Andre."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "OOC, I know that it is a phenomenally bad idea."

Cat says, "ugh. I never thought that'd work. The prototypes had... unacceptable flaws."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "But IC..."

(From GM) Erich nods.

Hans says (to Andre), "So. Strict curfew, and you may only use the workshops when supervised."

Hans says (to Erich), "You are to be responsible for watching over Andre, with Pierre's help."

[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "Oh man, such a very very very bad idea."

Hans whispers (to Cat), "What did we decide for Franzsiska?"

Cat says (to Hans), "(did we?)"

Hans exclaims (at Franzsiska), "And, uh. Curfew for you as well!"

Hans says (to Andre), "And you must make up your missed schoolwork before you continue work on any personal projects."

Cat says (to Hans), "(reels off a vast and intricate list of privileges to revoke and other official indignities)"

Hans asks, "There. Am I forgetting anything?"

(From GM) Recalcitrant students are appropriately meek and submissive.

Hans exclaims, "Ah! Right! And those too!"

Cat says, "...the Mattress No. 4 schedule, and extra nurse visits."

Gunther disappears through an invisible gap in the MUD. You think you may have heard the sounds of chatting before the gap closed again.

Hans says, "And the next time you decide to build something, try not to imperil your immortal souls in the process."

Hans says, "Consider it a challenge."

Cat says, "Or anyone else's."

Cat says, "Which leads us to ask what shall be done with Morgana."

Hans says, "Quite."

Hans asks (of Students), "Well, haven't you classes to attend? Or schoolwork to make up?"

Hans says, "You are dismissed."

Cat asks, "What does your funny religion say about this, anyway?"

(From GM) Recalcitrant students nod and scurry off.

Hans says (to Cat), "Mine does not directly address the question. The fate of one's soul is generally a matter between the individual and Theus."

Hans says (to Cat), "Etienne and his folk may see things differently."

Arvid says, "I wonder what Etienne is up to these days"

Cat asks, "Isn't there this thing where you wake up at the end of the world and have to run around collecting toenails?"

Arvid says, "and, for that matter, whether there is any relation between Trujillo reanimating corpses and .. vampires"

Hans furrows his brow.

Cat says, "I personally wouldn't be very pleased if I had to pry chunks of my brain out of a chess-playing automaton."

Hans says, "No... not that I recall..."

Hans says (to Cat), "But it's not your brain *in* the automaton."

Cat says, "No, it's Miss Wotshername's."

Hans says, "Right."

Hans says, "And she's not here to do any prying. Except for the parts of her that are *in* the automaton."

Hans says, "And it seems to me that perhaps we should allow those parts to take part in this discussion."

Hans heads towards the workshop.

Arvid goes along too

GM says, "Workshop. Edgardo is fixing something completely unimportant. Pedro, Trujillo's manservant, is playing chess with Morgana."

Arvid asks, "who's winning?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Speaking of voiceboxes to be re-attached..."

Cat asks (of Pedro), "Fascinating, isn't she?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Also, um. Pedro. He's covered in scars, you said?"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "ha ha, really?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "And has no known surname?"

(From GM) Pedro points at Morgana, as if to say 'she is'. Morgana tips over her king in surrender.

[Helvetica] Cat says, "hee hee hee"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "and he doesn't talk"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "You *know* that Jeff is laughing right now."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "also, what was that heavily scarred body they found before?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "heh. heh. heh."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "okay, scrap the Morgana plan, let's take a chisel to Pedro"

[Helvetica] Hans | Dead Body #3: bloodless, scarred from stiched-up wounds, dead a month, found naked on road in Montaigne

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hmm"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I guess none of us actually saw it"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I wonder if Pedro bleeds"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I wonder if 'dead a month' is just an average."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

Hans asks (of Pedro), "Are you able to write?"

(From GM) Pedro looks suspiciously down at Hans.

Arvid examines Edgardo as he works and tries to match him up with the description of Stefan's inquisitor

GM says (to Arvid), "Hm. He IS lefthanded."

Arvid says, "yeah, but that doesn't narrow it down much for a Vodacce"

[Crows-Nest] Hans says, "Then he can't be that mysterious swordsman in black."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "he'd take the ring off in the workshop, anyway"

Cat asks (of Pedro), "May I?"

(From GM) Pedro goes, "?"

Cat sits down opposite Morgana

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Talking to Morgana about her ultimate fate seems awkward when there are several other people in the room."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Especially one who may well have a similar origin."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "yes, we may want to shepherd them out or spirit her away"

Cat says (to Morgana), "May we have a few moments alone with you? It's quite important."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "We need to put together a code for questions like that."

(From GM) Morgana's chessboard flips over, back to the cardtable again.

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "White pawn for yes, black pawn for no?"

Hans looks underneath for wheels.

Arvid says (to Edgardo), "ah, Edgardo, I was just talking with Stefan about you -- he sends his regards"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "seems almost too easy"

GM says (to Hans), "there are indeed wheels."

Hans rolls the cart outside the back of the workshop.

(From GM) Edgardo raises an eyebrow.

Arvid says, "oops, there they go -- please excuse me"

Arvid follows Morgana

Cat asks (of Morgana), "Do you know who you were before?"

[Helvetica] GM suddenly realises that the PCs are now all together with three NPCs who either don't or barely ever speak.

Hans says (to Cat), "I am not sure if she can answer yes or no questions."

Arvid says, "she can use the tarot deck, I suppose"

Arvid stands to keep an eye on the workshop for eavesdroppers

Cat says (to Hans), "well, there's only one way to find out"

(From GM) Morgana shuffles cards, pulls out the High Priestess.

Hans says, "She could do like they do in a seance. One ghastly wail for 'yes', two spectral moans for 'no."

Hans says, "Or maybe just use white and black chess pieces."

Cat says, "Hmm. More than just the logic got in, it'd seem."

Cat says, "Standards must be slipping - schoolboys were far more accurate at brain surgery when I was a girl."

Cat asks (of Morgana), "Are you happy?"

Hans asks (of Cat), "If they wanted a bit of your head removed for good, it was removed for good?"

Cat says, "not that *I* would be able to answer that question with a glorified monte deck, you understand"

(From GM) Morgana shuffles cards, pulls out the ten of pentacles -- a large family gathering.

Hans asks, "What does that mean?"

Cat asks, "I think it means she's glad to be at the school? Among friends?"

Cat asks, "Collegiate family and all that?"

Hans asks, "Or that she wants to go be with her family? Her real family?"

Hans says, "Although I do not know if they are alive or dead."

Cat asks (of Morgana), "What do you want?"

Cat asks (of Hans), "wouldn't it be reversed, in that case?"

Hans asks (of Arvid), "Did your occult studies cover Tarot?"

Hans asks (of Cat), "Reversed? Upside down?"

Arvid says, "tarot interpretation is hardly scientific"

Hans says (to Arvid), "I guess that would explain why Andre didn't seem to actually talk with Morgana much."

Hans asks (of Morgana), "Where do you *want* to be?"

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "has she clammed up, or is Mis desperately shuffling through a tarot deck for something appropriate?"

(From GM) Morgana shuffles cards, pulls out the two of pentacles -- a juggler trying to balance two lange coins.

Cat says, "Well, that's ambiguous."

Hans asks, "The circus?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "(large coins)"

Cat asks, "Indecision?"

Arvid says, "possibly she means that existence like this is a mixed blessing"

[Crows-Nest] Hans says, "She obviously wants to join Master Payne's Circus of Adventure."

[Crows-Nest] Hans asks, "What else could a juggler mean?"

Cat asks, "Would you like to be... um... built onto?"

Cat asks, "Maybe some wheels that you can actually control?"

Cat says, "actually, that might make quite an appropriate punishment"

Hans asks, "Or would you prefer to be dismantled and returned to the crypt where you can rest?"

Cat says, "if Andre had to continue his work on Morgana under *her* direction"

(From GM) Morgana rolls back a bit and swivels so she has her back to Hans.

Cat says, "the ambiguous tarot messages would be torment enough"

Hans says, "Right. That's clear, at least."

[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "In fact, it answers two questions."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Or at least, addresses them both to some degree."

Hans says (to Cat), "He might be able to interpret them all too easily, I think."

Hans says, "Possibly without Morgana's help at all."

Arvid says, "well, I think we should leave things as they are for now"

Cat exclaims, "You need an auxiliary spring grommet? Course you do!"

[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "ha ha"

Hans says, "Quite."

Cat asks (of Morgana), "Is there anything we can do for you?"

(From GM) Morgana pauses.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "SHe seems to do that a lot."

(From GM) Morgana then begins dealing cards. First, "Judgement", on top. Then "The High Priestess". Then eight cards in a row.

[Helvetica] GM says, "(lemme check my notes)"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Er, well, okay, the actual cards for those last eight are not entirely important."

GM says, "These last eight cards each depict a single female character. There's a gap between the 6th and the 7th. The "High Priestess" card is above that gap."

Cat says, "Hm. So the High Priestess is you. And - um."

Arvid says, "hmm"

Arvid says, "perhaps this her line of ancestors"

Arvid says, "I wonder if she has a daughter"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "and I wonder if her daughter is that pesky Elena, if so"

GM says, "Finally the 'Ten of Pentacles' goes below the whole arrangement."

Cat says, "A family. Or a group - the school, perhaps."

Cat says, "Or some sisterhood of mystic witchery."

Arvid shrugs

Arvid says, "perhaps I can do some research"

Hans asks (of Arvid), "The family reuinion?"

Hans says, "So these two are probably a daughter and a granddaughter."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Huh. Now how would we identify someone who is in the direct female line of descent from a Fate Witch?"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "well, 'is also a Fate Witch' would be the first clue"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yes."

(From GM) Morgana takes 'The Magician' out of the deck and carefully places it next to 'Judgement' at the top of the layout. Then slowly shifts each card from the row of eight up to line up with the 'High Priestess'.

[Helvetica] Cat says, "but she was an expat"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "so most of her family is probably in Vodacce still"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "a daughter might well be here, though"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "yeah, I think the next step is More Research"

Cat asks (of Morgana), "Where can we find them?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I was actually meaning to imply that maybe Elena or someone else here was her granddaughter."

(From GM) Morgana sweeps up all the cards and lays three down: Death, the Seven of Swords, and Judgement.

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Didn't E announce her resignation right at the same time as Morgana's old head went missing?"

Hans asks, "Seven of them are deceased?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "yeah, I'm wondering about the timing about that"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hmm"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I wonder if Elena talked to Morgana"

(From GM) Morgana flashes the eight of swords at Hans and returns it to her deck.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Good point."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Also, Edgardo -- husband of Lucia -- was coincidentally hanging around the workshop with Morgana."

Hans says, "Right, sorry."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "yeah"

Arvid asks, "but if they're all dead, what is there for us to do?"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "we probably need to note down all these questions and responses in the wiki"

[7thsea] GM rolls 1k1: 7 | 7

[7thsea] GM rolls 4k4: 6 4 4 5 | 19

[Helvetica] Hans asks (of Arvid), "All of them?"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "aren't they?"

GM asks (of Cat), "y'know, weren't these the same three cards she showed you the first time you met?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I'm pretty lost what-all is going on"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Arvid), "I took the 'eight' to mean 'don't forget me'."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "well, ok, she is only mostly dead"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "but is she saying the other people in the group are dead?"

Hans asks, "Wait. Are you asking us to resurrect the rest of your family as chess-boxes as well?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I thought she was saying that eight of the nine of them were dead."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "oh, there are nine?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "But I might have misunderstood."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ok, that would make more sense"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I think we're going to need to do outside research before we can answer these questions properly"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Well, there are eight plus the high priestess."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "possibly judgement = wants justice for their deaths"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "You could ask her that."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Judgment was the 'rising from their graves' card though, right?"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "oh, it was?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I'd forgotten that"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "(but I remembered that card)"

[Helvetica] GM says, "There IS another card called 'Justice'. 'Judgement' refers to the final judgement, with people rising from their graves at the call of an angel's trumpet."

Arvid asks (of Morgana), "this doesn't have anything to do with vampires, does it?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I am totally turning into the crazy paranoid old man here"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "except there really are vampires, so"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "There's one."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Who has been dealt with."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "We have no evidence whatsoever that there are any others."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "true"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And I would thank you not to impugn the reputation of the good lady Harker."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I guess the bloodless body, but we just found an alternate explanation for that"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "so maybe I should switch to being paranoid about flesh golems"

Cat asks (of Arvid), "Where would we look for more detailed information about Scardanelli? Family, close friends, organisations?"

Hans says, "School records should indicate her next of kin at the time of death."

Cat says, "I could find her home-town in Vodacce and take a holi- ah, I mean, lead a research expedition"

Hans asks, "Do you think it's wise to leave the area at this point?"

Arvid says, "I imagine the Baron could help when he returns, or perhaps we could have a look at his records"

(From GM) Morgana sweeps all the cards back into her deck. Pulls out the Six of Swords (a family travelling in a boat) and turns it upside down.

Arvid says, "ok, ok, we'll stay"

Cat says, "Spoilsport."

[Helvetica] GM asks, "Hm, you guys just left Pedro standing there?"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "apparently"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "yeah, I guess so"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "he and Edgardo can have a nice chat"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Haha, like Edgardo the pretend-Castillian is going to actually say anything out loud in front of Pedro the supposedly-actual Castillian."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "plus they don't talk anyway, so"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Hey, maybe we should ask Morgana about Pedro."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "She was playing with him. Maybe she knows if he's a corpse."

Arvid asks (of Morgana), "do you know what Professor Trujillo is doing with corpses?"

Arvid asks (of Morgana), "or planning to, or whatever's going on with Pedro?"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "hm, I probably need to go fairly soon"

(From GM) Morgana shuffles, draws the Fool.

Arvid says, "ha ha"

Arvid says, "yeah, it doesn't seem to be working out well for him so far"

Arvid says, "unless you mean he's standing on the edge of a cliff"

Arvid says, "I don't suppose you have any thoughts on Edgardo and Lucea, while we're asking quesitons"

Hans asks, "And do you want to stay in the workshop, or would you prefer a room away from the tinkering?"

(From GM) Morgana shuffles, draws the Knight of Swords and the High Priestess.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "That cannot possibly mean what just crossed my mind."

Arvid says, "whoah"

Hans asks, "And... who exactly is this knight of swords...?"

(From GM) Morgana pauses a moment, then places the Fool below them.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Dang."

Cat's studied dalliance with his venal muses is little to our taste.

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Do we have another Antoinette?"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "uh, what?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "OK, then I probably am just imagining things."

GM says, "At this point, there's a knock on the door, and Agathe Schreiber-Meunier looks in."

[Helvetica] Hans says, ";..Arvid I was just trying to think of who here would qualify as the 'knight of swords'."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, heh"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Hans), "And possibly also as 'the fool'."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "not everything is about you, buddy"

Arvid asks (of Agathe), "Agathe! have you heard from Raoul yet?"

(From GM) Agathe comes up to you. "It's my wedding ring. It's disappeared -- one moment it was there, next moment it was gone."

Arvid says, "well, Gert won't be pleased to hear that"

(From GM) Morgana shuffles cards and draws the Seven of Swords -- the thief.

[Helvetica] GM says, "And break."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Did we see the seven of swords earlier today?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Between Death and Judgment?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(Oh, right, that's when Cat mentioned that was a repeat of the original three...)"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Well. That certainly raised a number of questions."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "If anyone comes up for an explanation for what 'the knight of swords' and 'the fool' can refer to that is not me, I would be pleased to hear it."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hmm"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "you didn't think she meant that Edgardo and Lucea were the knight and the high priestess?"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "and that they were fools?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Oh, that could be."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I was thinking she was answering the question about where she wanted to be."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Phew."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I assumed 'high priestess' meant 'Morgana'."

Cat arrives, looking for booty.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Since it had appeared to mean that earlier."

[Helvetica] Arvid says (to Cat), "sorry, we just ended"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I don't think you missed much"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Cat, thought you had to run."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "yeah, but I also dropped"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "though Agathe came in right at the end and announced her ring had disappeared"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "not a problem, either way"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks (of Hans), "yeah, but so what does the re-use mean here?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Well, interesting timing."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "that Lucea is a member of her group? or that Lucea is a fate witch?"

Gert arrives, looking for booty.

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hey there ;-)"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Whoa."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "From the uptime, I assume you all are about done."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "OK, re-reading this, I am thinking that Morgana really does what us to get Andre to raise the rest of her family."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "We just ended, yeah."

Hans exclaims (at Hans), "I've been looking for you all morning!"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Er."

Hans exclaims (at Gert), "I've been looking for you all morning!"

Hans asks (of Gert), "Is it normal when a Montaigne person says 'goodbye' by kissing someone?"

[Helvetica] GM says (to Gert), "Agathe just announced that her wedding ring has disappeared."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

Gert exclaims (at Hans), "Sorry, I got to talking fabrics with Lucia and I guess the time got away from me!"

Gert frowns.

Gert asks (of Hans), "Why do you ask?"

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims (at GM), "O no!"

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "Time to follow Elena!"

Hans says (to Gert), "I am worried that you may need to duel Antoinette."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha more"

Gert says, "Oh."

Gert says, "That would be a problem. She seems pretty fragile."

Hans exclaims, "Oh, no problems there!"

Gert asks, "Oh?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha yet more"

Hans says, "She has built a suit a mechanical strength-enhancing armor."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I hope this is going to make it into the log"

[Helvetica] GM says, "I'm still logging."

Gert says, "Oh, well! That could work."

Hans says, "Perhaps we can make an event of it."

Hans says, "With sausage and beer vendors."

Hans says, "Maybe some clowns. And Morgana can tell fortunes."

Hans shrugs. "But I will leave the details up to you. You are better at planning those sorts of festivities than I am."

Gert exclaims, "Hans! You're making me plan *another* event!"

Arvid says, "you could combine them"

Hans exclaims, "I am sure that you can get Miss Guillot to help you with this one!"

Arvid says, "duel in the morning, marriage in the evening"

Hans says, "Marriage in the afternoon."

Hans says, "We already have the evening planned."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "snigger"

Gert says (to Arvid), "Hey, there's an idea, there's the 'if anyone has a reason why these two should not be wed...' bit."

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "She could stand up, we could duel, and then go on!"

Gert exclaims, "She could stand up, we could duel, and then go on!"

Hans exclaims, "That would be perfect!"

Gert frowns.

Hans says, "You and Antoinette will have to get together to work out the details about weapons and so forth."

Gert asks, "You're sure she want to duel me, though?"

Hans says (to Gert), "I am not certain exactly what her intentions are at the moment."

Hans says (to Gert), "But I am not sure that I dare ask her."

Gert pats Hans's arm. "I'll take care of it, sweetie."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I wonder if Antoinette actually knows that Hans is engaged."

[Helvetica] GM says, "She's been asking around. She knows."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Do the other PCs know the ring has disappeared?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "yeah"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Ah. Good. So no nasty surprises there."

[Helvetica] GM says, "That's stopping her like a crypt would stop Andre-Nicolas Valois while he's in one of his 'Special Moods'."

Arvid says (to Gert), "I'm afraid Agathe has some bad news for you about her-- the ring"

Gert says, "Now we just have to figure out how to get the ring back from Lady Agathe."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to GM), "Heh."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "(sorry, she's here)"

Gert asks, "Oh?"

Arvid says, "apparently it's vanished"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "she just ran in and told us at the end of the session"

Gert's eyes narrow.

Gert says, "That means Raoul has it."

Gert says, "And I know someone who knows where he is, too: Elena."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "When's Elena leaving?"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "you mean Nicolette?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Nope, the maid with the rumors."

(From GM) Agathe says, "I knew it, th -- who?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "or is there something about Elena and Raoul I'm not remembering"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "The rumors and the fate strands."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Oh, Agathe's here here?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yeah."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "So, uh, how much does Agathe know?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I guess I'll just play it."

[Helvetica] GM says, "I don't think you told her anything."

Gert asks (of Agathe), "What do you think happened?"

(From GM) Agathe says, "Like you said, he assumed I was dead and retrieved his heirloom."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "So as an aside: Arvid, you said you were confused by Morgana's thing with the cards with the female characters on them."

[Helvetica] Gert says (to Arvid), "Agathe met Raoul after going to the waterfall on Elena's instructions."

Gert says, "Hmm, maybe."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ok, that's true"

Gert asks, "I believe Porte practitioners are able to sense where their blooded items are, though, right?"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "also, we did have Nicolette blood the ring, right?"

Gert asks, "What was Raoul's range?"

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "We did!"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Man, I had forgotten."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I am so clever."

(From GM) Agathe says, "I don't know. there's a

(From GM) Agathe says, "I don't know. there's a 'range' for these things?"

Gert says, "Well, I think so. If it's close enough, he should be able to tell if it's north or south or whatever from where he is."

Gert says, "So if he's nearby, he would have known you weren't dead."

Gert says, "I hope, for your sake, that he isn't."

(From GM) Agathe says, "I don't understand this at all."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Morgana dealt out Judgment (people rising from their graves) and the High Priestess (herself). Then she dealt out eight other female figures, with a gap where the High Priestess would go. (And the ten of pentacles, but I'm not sure what that meant.)"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "something about family, right?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Then she dealt the Magician (which I think is Andre), and then shifted the eight female figures up so that the were in-line with herself."

(From GM) Agathe says, "He always said he'd take care of me. I was eighteen, going on nineteen, and he was nineteen, going on twenty."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "doot doot doot doot"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Was the ten of pentacles the same as the family gathering card from earlier?"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "did we already have that one?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "it seems like with all the kids in the family it would be a natural"

[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "yes"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Oh, duh, wasn't Raoul in the movie, too?"

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "Rolf!"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "That was it."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "aha, nice"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yes! Ten of pentacles == Family gathering == response to 'are you happy?' earlier."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And when we asked where to find the family, she gave us death, seven of swords (the thief) and Judgment."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Which I think is Morgana-code for 'stealing corpses from tombs'."

Gert pat's Agathe's hand. "Don't worry about it. I have an idea, and I might be able to find Raoul. I might not, but we'll see. Go back to the castle, and, hmm. Do you trust Erich?

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hmm"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(Judgment being 'people rising from their graves'.)"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "she can't be related to mrs schreiber or whoever"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Also, when I asked if that meant there were seven dead relatives, she showed me an eight, so I'm now pretty sure that means all eight of them are dead."

(From GM) Agathe says, "Oh, Erich's impossible, sometimes, but the only thing I wouldn't trust him with is to tell a lie."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I thought she meant "I'm dead too""

Gert says, "Right. Good. If he's there, send him here, and if he's not, I'll find him here on campus. I'll probably need his help."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "hmm, so, uh, are we continuing to play here or what?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I originally did as well."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Assuming we're on campus."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "or is this all setup for next time?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Yeah, I was just setting stuff up."

[Helvetica] GM says, "It kind of looked like y'all wanted to go on, so I let the cameras (as it were) keep rolling."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "It only seemed fair to let Gert have some screentime."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I'm good ;-)"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "But we probably want to wrap up after this."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ok, cool, I was just wondering about scheduling stuff for my evening here"

(From GM) Agathe says, "I'll go find him, then."

Gert says, "Thank you."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "Oh, FYI: we just gave Erich and Franzie and Andre a good talking-to."

(From GM) Agathe goes off to find Erich.

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Oh? What about?"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "Apparently they were all involved in the brain-theft to some degree."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "uh-oh"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "zombies in training"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Either Erich or Franzsiska (probably Erich) actually stole the brain itself, to help Andre build Morgana."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Who apparently wants to remain undead and seems to want the rest of her fate witch family to be resurrected in a similar fashion."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Although we've already made Andre promise not to do anything like that again, and then made Erich promise not to *let* Andre do anything like that again, because we obviously cannot trust Andre to make decisions for himself."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Heh."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(Watching Andre night and day is part of Erich's punishment for graverobbing.)"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "also, he had to get Pierre to help because we can't trust Andre to do it with just one guy to help"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Oh, and they got the idea from some notes that Trujillo had left lying around his room."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Notes on how to reanimate corpses."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "And in a completely unrelated topic, have you noticed how hulking, heavily scarred, and mute his manservant Pedtro is?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Pedro, even."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Oho."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Aiee."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "and if you believe that, then what about that scarred corpse #3"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hunh."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Speaking of corpses, that book from Brother E's quarters suggests we should worry about Camilla, too."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Just to add one more log to the fire."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Which book is that?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "The book on vampires."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(And we were already worried about Camilla anyway, weren't we? Between Lucy biting her, her leaving campus under mysterious circumstances, and most damning of all, her being named after a fictional vampire.)"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "It said if there's a surviving victim of a vampire, and then the vampire dies, the surviving victim turns into a vampire sometimes (always?)"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "But yes"

[Helvetica] Arvid says (to Hans), "pssht, and just earlier you were calling me paranoid about vampires"

[Helvetica] GM says, "If the victim dies within roughly a couple of months after the attack. According to the book, anyway."

[Helvetica] Arvid says (to Gert), "oh, the butcher reiterated that thing earlier in the session today too"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Oh, if the victim *dies*."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "or the butcher's grandmother did or something"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Missed that."

[Helvetica] Hans asks (of Arvid), "I called you paranoid?"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Arvid), "I thought you were calling you paranoid."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Butcher?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "They went to the butcher to check up on Stefan's story."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Arvid), "I forget what the butcher said about his grandmother now."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(I just remember that he doesn't like my family. Nyeh.)"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "Stefan told the butcher he is doing blood sausage research"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "Oh, and according to the butcher, Stefan is trying to perfect the blood sausage."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ha."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "And that is why he has needed to purchase so many buckets of blood and such regular intervals."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I guess it is time to start summarizing things into the wiki. But I don't even know where to start, so I'll leave it for someone else."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I'll put some stuff up"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "if Miseri sends over the transcript then I can use it for reference, too"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Heh."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "We should probably have a separate page just recapping our discussions with Morgana."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Alrighty, I'll be at my transcript-post."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "With annotations and stuff."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hmm"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "we don't know any connection between Raoul and Elena besides the waterfall, right?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Anyway, game next sunday unless something else comes up. I keep thinking there's something I ought to be aware of, but it escapes me right now."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to GM), "That sounds good to me."

[Helvetica] GM says, "And stopping the log now."
