GM says, "Logging"

GM says, "So. You're riding back from Mont-Saint-Gabriyon. It's been about a day on the road, and now you're approaching Bois-Franc."

[Crows-Nest] Gert exclaims, "NPCs! Run!"

Gert gives B-F as wide a berth as is possible.

[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "run, you npcs, it's robert frost"

[Crows-Nest] Hans says, "That's 'run, you pcs'."

maga's studied dalliance with his venal muses is little to our taste.

maga arrives, looking for booty.

Gert asks (of Cat), "Joining the land of the living, dear?"

[Crows-Nest] Hans says, "Because do not be surprised if it turns out that Robert Frost does show up when we try to go the long way around B-F via the road less traveled."

[Crows-Nest] Gert says, "Ha ha groan"

GM says (to Gert), "That's actually not very far. You are in a carriage, after all, and it's all forested lands all around."

Cat says (to Gert), "it's got to the point where honestly I'm tired of complaining"

[Crows-Nest] schep says, "Grim Fandango ref duly noted and chuckled at"

Gert says (to GM), "I rest the horses a bit before we get there so they're good for a run when we head by, then."

Gert says (to group), "But hey, we managed to get by here on the way out without incident! I'm sure there's nothing lurking for us on the way back."

Cat takes the opportunity to stretch out her horribly cramped limbs

Hans says, "They are probably all lurking at the monastery."

Cat crack pop wince

GM says (to Gert), "let's have ... hm ... three 'drive carriage' rolls."

Hans says, "Or perhaps at an anonymous bend in the road."

[Crows-Nest] Gert asks (of GM), "Can I use Animal Training or whatever that is?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Sure, but at -5 to the total."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "What stat?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "The evens out to a +0, since I have a +5 on animal training rolls."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Resolve"

[7thsea] Gert rolls 3k2: 8 5 3 | 13

[7thsea] Gert rolls 3k2: 1 6 2 | 8

[7thsea] Gert rolls 3k2: 7 1 7 | 14

[7thsea] GM rolls 6k3: 5 3 8 2 9 3 | 22

GM says, "Twang."

GM exclaims, "Someone on the walls of the town is shooting at you!"

Gert exclaims, "Ack!"

Hans says, "Ah, that seems sensible."

Hans says, "All things considered."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "the jerks"

Cat exclaims, "Sniper! Everybody down!"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I bet they shoot at every carriage that comes by"

Hans asks, "Is it anyone we know?"

Gert exclaims (at Walls), "Look out! the army's coming!"

[7thsea] GM rolls 6k3: 8 4 4 10+10+4 2 1 | 36

[7thsea] GM rolls 6k3: 6 5 8 9 10+5 5 | 32

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ow."

Gert hunkers down and barrels on.

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I'm guessing that attempting to return fire from a jolting carriage is going to be an exercise in futility"

GM says (to Hans), "no, no-one you know."

Hans says, "Hmm. Odd."

Gert says (to Hans), "Yeah, I thought we knew everyone in that town."

GM says, "None of the arrows have actually hit anybody. They're all lodged into the carriage ... the last two especially so."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Oh, go for it."

Hans says (to Gert), "With all the enemies we'd made, you would think this would at least be one of them."

Cat says (to Gert), "being Famous means people you don't know sometimes want to kill you"

Cat says, "so take this as a sort of applause"

Hans wisely sticks his head out the window to inspect the two arrows.

GM says, "You're past the town now. No further arrows follow."

Gert asks, "Man, what was that all about?"

Gert drive drive drive.

Cat says (to Gert), "you'd think we were dangerous outlaws or something"

Hans says, "It's not as though we've really hurt anyone."

Cat clambers out of the carriage and rides shotgun, in case of further attacks.

Hans says, "Except for Marcel, and he seemed little the worse for being shot in the face."

GM says, "It's .... eight hours back to the Helvetica border (such as it is) as I recall. Maybe a bit longer because of the carriage."

[Helvetica] Hans asks (of GM), "Anything noteworthy about the arrows?"

Gert, now that she has someone to talk to, cheerfully talks Cat's ear off.

[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "hang on"

[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "roll Wits."

[7thsea] Hans rolls 1k1: 3 | 3

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "do we want to enter Helvetica still in uniform?"

[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "Absolutely Nothing That You Can See."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee hee"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I think that the disguise is getting so thin as to be a big Arrest Me sign"

Hans plucks them out and tosses them on the seat.

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Yeah, now that we have the letter, I think we might as well be in our civvies."

[Helvetica] Hans asks (of Cat), "Why do we need or what to be disguised?"

GM asks, "So, you're stopping to change?"

[Helvetica] Gert asks (of Arvid), "You want to look at the arrows?"

Cat says, "I think so."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Is stopping necessary?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Arvid and I can change while Gert and Cat are driving, then we can swap."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "the only thing is going to be getting by the guard at the border"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "but whatever, we can just punch him"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "Oh, I have the perfect thing for that!"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "It's made of dracheneisen."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "it's a little difficult to get changed while being shaken about like dice in a cup"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "but if you insist"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Wait, so we were dressed as Montaignians when we passed B-F?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I think so, yeah."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Since we hadn't changed since leaving the cafe."

Cat changes into her Outrageous Musketeeress getup, with an off-the-shoulder cape and the World's Frilliest Cravat

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I think it was just random jerks shooting at us"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I mean, they were using arrows, not guns, so wtf"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Man, those jerks."

[Helvetica] GM says, "so Cat changes into Porthosina."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Arvid), "You could inspect the arrows, but that's probably not necessary, since Hans already checked them out and Saw Nothing Special."

Cat says, "if there's going to be a war I'll be damned if I give the enemy a sartorial advantage"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "yeah, whatever, who cares"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Hee."

[Helvetica] Arvid says (to Cat), "ha ha"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Arvid gets +2 unkept to examining them."

[Helvetica] Gunther says, "IRTA unkempt"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "But he doesn't want to!"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "So we will never find out that they are blooded."

[Helvetica] GM says, "okay then."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ha ha ha"

[Helvetica] Gert says (to Arvid), "C'mon, roll the dice, the GM wants to give you some Plot."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ok ok fine"

[7thsea] Arvid rolls 6k4: 4 7 2 3 6 9 | 26

[Helvetica] (from Hans) Arvid says, "but there better not be any new npcs in these arrows"

Arvid grumpily looks at the arrows

GM says, "Border guard's in view."

Arvid says, "they're arrows, c'mon, what more do you want to know"

[Helvetica] Arvid says (to Hans), "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Are we at Helvetica?"

GM says (to Arvid), "and they look used."

Arvid says, "they're not even *new* arrows"

GM says (to Arvid), "as in, bloodstains."

Arvid says, "I can't believe these people are bothering to shoot at us with already-bloody arrows"

Hans says, "We should shoot them at Guy."

Hans says, "He likes blood."

Arvid says, "there's just no respect these days"

Arvid says, "good idea"

(From GM) Border sentry shouts, "Halt!"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Are we at Helvetica?"

Hans exclaims (at Sentry), "No!"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Yep."

Hans says, "Go off and tell Chevalier that his holiday is over and it's time to go home."

(From GM) Border sentry says, "I don't care, just get out and sign the register."

Hans asks, "What's that?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "It's in Montaigne, isn't it?"

(From GM) Border sentry says, "New rules, everyone coming in and going out of this region needs to sign a register."

Cat steps down from the carriage and examines the register.

Gert asks (of Arvid), "Wait, there's blood on them?"

Hans asks, "Whose rules?"

Cat checks to see who else has signed in recently.

GM says (to Cat), "It's practically brand-new. Nobody's signed in or out."

Gert, while we're stopped, makes a little fire and burns the arrows.

Cat signs 'Therese de Mercault, Heroine of the Revolution; and servants'

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Aw."

[Helvetica] Gert says (to Arvid), "See, there *were* NPCs attached."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Now we'll never know who blooded them."

(From GM) Border sentry shrugs. "I dunno. I just do what my sergeant tells me."

Hans asks (of Cat), "What the?"

Hans asks (of Cat), "What are you doing?"

Hans asks, "Who is Therese de Mercault?"

Gert says (to Hans), "Oh, get in the carriage, dear."

Gert says, "It's my turn again."

Cat says (to Guard), "you'll apologise for my manservant; he's a little hard of thinking"

Hans exclaims, "No!"

Hans exclaims, "No more of this sneaking around like criminals!"

Arvid says, "fine, fine"

Cat says, "we are hoping that the fresh air and *cough* careful. supervision. will restore him to his senses"

Arvid gets out and goes to the register

Hans says (to Sentry), "I am Hans Kleinberg, and we are here to RECLAIM THE CITY."

(From GM) Border sentry ignores Hans and hands Cat a pamphlet, spouting an obviously-canned speech about the Wonderful Festival just starting up now.

Arvid signs "The Helvetican Liberatian force, true patriots of our adopted homeland"

Arvid gets back in the carriage

Arvid says, "ok, let's get going"

Hans says (to Arvid), "Much better."

Hans gets back in the carriage, much mollified.

(From GM) Border sentry says, "Enjoy your visit!"

Gert says, "I thought we were the People's Liberation Force of Helvetica."

Cat says (to pats), "the guard on the back. "Thank you very much for your incompetence. Don't know how we'd have managed without you.""

[Helvetica] Arvid says (to Gert), "yay"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "ila emote"

Cat clambers back on.

(From GM) Border sentry *really* doesn't care who you are, as long as you get out and sign the register like he's been told to make sure you do.

Arvid reads over the brochure as we drive along

Cat asks (of Hans), "When you fight battles, were you in the habit of negotiating separate peace treaties with every enemy foot-soldier?"

Gert asks (of Hans), "Hey, do you think your family's arrived yet?"

Hans asks (of Cat), "Peace treaties?"

Hans says (to Gert), "They didn't sign the register. That sounds like them."

Gert says, "Well, presumably they didn't arrive from Montaigne."

[Setting the zoned flag.]

Hans says, "That is true."

[Helvetica] Arvid says (to Hans), "yay"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, yeah, I hope everyone's family is showing up"

Hans says, "But we haven't the time to go to the other side of town to ensure that they did not sign that one as well."

Cat asks (of Hans), "you know, like when you and Gert have an argument and your sword-arm gets tired?"

Hans says (to Gert), "What? You mean? I do not... with an enemy soldier..."

GM says (to Arvid), "It's all very cheery, about the quaint customs of the alpine region. Be sure to attend the opening, where the Baron himself will perform various feats of archery for which he is famous."

Hans exclaims, "That is disgusting!"

[Crows-Nest] Hans exclaims, "And just think of the germs!"

Gert says (to Hans), "I only got to meet about half the clan at WinterFair; I'm looking forward to meeting the rest. Even if Cousin Albert is with them."

Arvid says, "well, I'm glad we'll be back in time for the applejack tasting"

Gert exclaims, "Oh, right, the archery tournament!"

Hans says (to Gert), "Cousin Albert is not so bad as long as he has a piece of meat in his hand."

Cat asks (of Hans), "can you save single-handedly defeating the Montaigne occupation force until after the archery contest?"

Gert says (to Hans), "No comment."

Hans sighs at Cat.

Hans says, "*Perhaps*."

GM says, "You are now passing by the walls of the monastery. Geneva is around the corner."

Gert says, "OK, let's meet up with folks at the monastery and see what's up."

Gert says, "Oh, here it is."

Gert turns in.

Arvid says, "hopefully that Slab or Slud guy will be here"

Hans exclaims (at Monastery Gates), "Ho!"

GM says, "Gates open."

Hans asks (of Gate Opener), "Have we missed anything?"

(From GM) Gate Opener says, "not a lot. Everyone has been preparing for the festival."

Hans asks, "Has Brother Etienne returned?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I guess maybe the guard doesn't know about the baron"

Hans asks, "Have any mechanical swordfighting devices appeared?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "Hans going over the issues in order of priority"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yeah, next was going to be 'are there still Montaignes in the city?'"

(From GM) Gate Opener says, "well ... he's in disgrace."

Hans asks, "So his trousers did not?"

Cat asks, "Has he been accused of anything?"

(From GM) Gate Opener says, "you'd best speak to the Abbot about Brother Etienne. I don't know anything about it."

Hans says, "Right."

Hans exclaims, "Off to speak with the abbot!"

Gert parks the carriage in the usual spot.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Hmm. I bet Steinflanken is back in town by now."

Gert heads off and follows Hans.

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "...who?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "his horse"

[Helvetica] Hans asks (of Arvid), "He rescued Eduard! Remember?"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "who?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Ha ha."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I think we need to track down Andre, while we're at it"

[Helvetica] Arvid exclaims, "I don't have to remember anything not on the NPC list!"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(Pierre and Suzanne and Lucille's brother.)"

[Helvetica] Arvid exclaims, "that's Edmond!"

[Helvetica] GM says, "The whole bash down a door with a horse bit."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "unless the NPC list is wrong"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, *that* horse"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Arvid), "Oh, whoops. Sorry."

(From GM) Abbot says, "Ah, there you are."

[Helvetica] Hans updates the NPC list.

Cat heads off for the Corpse Cellar to check that Elise is undisturbed

Hans says (to Abbot), "We hear there is news of Brother Etienne."

(From GM) Abbot says, "Brother Etienne returned two days ago. I had him locked up in solitary confinement. He's been ... rather distraught at times."

Hans asks, "Has he been... himself?"

Arvid asks, "what about Cujo?"

(From GM) Abbot says, "I had Cujo isolated as well. He was quite ill, though I think he's recovering now."

Gert says, "Whew."

Hans asks (of Abbot), "Does he understand what's happened to him?"

Gert asks, "How's the baron doing?"

Cat goes tippity tappety down dark and winding stairs

(From GM) Abbot says, "As for Brother Etienne ... I'm not sure. Sometimes he seems lucid enough. At others, he ... well, he behaves like a coffee addict who has woken up to discover that all the cafes in the world have shut down."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

Hans exclaims, "Ah, good!"

Hans says, "That is better than what we had hoped."

(From GM) Abbot says, "The baron seems well enough. He's been getting dressed for the festival opening this afternoon."

Gert asks, "The archery contest is today?"

Arvid asks, "is he going to sneak into the city?"

Hans asks, "What better time for it?"

(From GM) Abbot nods.

Gert says (to Arvid), "We had that outfit made for him and his double."

Gert says, "Now we just need to make the switch where people can't see him."

GM says, "(Meanwhile, Cat gets down to the cellar. And finds that Elise is in fact undisturbed.)"

Hans says, "We should check on Andre as well."

Gert says, "And protect him from assassins, possibly."

Cat checks for a pulse, just out of paranoia, and trots back upstairs

Hans says (to Gert), "We also have to fight Chevalier at some point."

Hans says, "I hope."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Who is Elise, again?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "one of the corpses from the tomb"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Aha."

(From GM) Abbot says, "well, I wish you the best of luck."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "The situation is that Baron II is being watched, and if he reveals that he's Baron II and not Baron I, this will be bad, somehow, right?"

Cat asks a Random Passerby where Andre might be found

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I dunno. We've got the letter."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And I've got a sword."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "What can they do about it?"

[Helvetica] (from Gert) Hans sings, "I got my gal, who could ask for anything more?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "yeah, at this point I think they don't have a *legal* argument for keeping the city"

(From GM) Brother Random says, "The Valois boy? I think he's in the belfry."

[Helvetica] Arvid says (to Gert), "HA HA HA"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(But I guess it will be bad in the sense that we will lose the dramatic reveal later on.)"

Arvid exclaims (at Brother), "I'll say!"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "man, it is not too late to turn this into a musical"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee hee"

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "We even have a wedding for the end of it!"

[Helvetica] (from Hans) Elise sings, "The heel from Castille steals body parts to congeal!"

Cat rounds up the others (if they have a care to) and makes for the belfry

Hans follows, curious to see what sort of useful monstrosity he has committed this time.

Gert heads up as well.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(C'mon, someone has to be impressed by that.)"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

[Helvetica] Arvid exclaims, "I am!"

GM says, "So up you get to the belfry."

[Helvetica] Gert cheers.

[Helvetica] GM exclaims, "I think she's got it!"

GM says, "You come to a room beneath the bells. Wide windows looking out for miles around. Andre snoring away in one corner."

Hans exclaims, "He's sleeping!"

Hans asks, "Does Andre do that?"

GM says, "And a female-looking figure standing very still in one corner."

Cat says, "Only when he has been working very, very hard on something for Some Time."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "with Andre this could be anything"

Cat says, "Oh. Hello."

[Crows-Nest] (from Hans) GM says, "It's Franziska, holding a bucket of cold water."

GM says, "She's all dressed up like a nun, presumably because that was the only sort of clothing available. And she's holding this globe."

Cat asks, "Elisabeth?"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Do we know the world is round?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Yes we do."

GM says, "The figure is silent."

Gert examines the globe.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(For those uncertain as to this visual: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/girlgenius/images/2/23/Muses-mural.png)"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ah yes"

Cat shakes Andre.

Hans says (to Figure), "Excuse me. I don't believe we've met. I am Hans Kleinberg."

GM says (to Gert), "it's like a large and elaborate cage, with all the constellations marked out. Inside is a model of the earth."

(From GM) Andre mumbles, "....not now, wake me up when it's spring...."

Cat says, "Is she complete, Andre? Tell me and you can sleep all you want."

Hans says (to Gert), "Let him sleep. He probably needs it. We can ask Erich and Franziska."

(From GM) Andre mumbles, "....norah alice in the night ... hath seen ... borealis...."

Hans asks, "Who?"

Hans says, "Wait."

Hans exclaims, "No!"

Cat looks at Hans, confused

Hans exclaims (at Andre), "It's the wrong one!"

Cat asks, "The Star?"

Hans says, "Yes."

Arvid says, "hrm"

Cat says, "So someone has switched the bodies around before we got to them."

Gert looks around, confused.

Hans says (to Cat), "Or else Andre finished one and saw no reason not to keep going."

Cat says, "Maybe the same person who iced up the tomb."

Hans asks (of Nora), "Fraelein Kelly?"

Cat asks (of Hans), "in four days?"

Hans says (to Cat), "No *wonder* he needed sleep."

Hans says, "It seems that neither of them is going to be moving for the time being."

(From GM) Andre stirs fitfully in his sleep.

Hans marches down the stairs to locate a Schreiber or two.

Gert asks, "What do you mean 'wrong one'? Who's which why?"

Cat says, "I'm inclined to think that someone else - Trujillo would be my guess - made off with Elisabeth's body and switched it for Nora's."

Cat says (to Gert), "Andre thinks this is Nora Alice Kelly. The Star. The astronomer."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Was Gert present for the conversation we had with Andre before and what his plans seemed to be?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "About resurrecting Buffy?"

Cat says, "But we thought that the body we retrieved was Elisabeth Sommer, the swordfighter."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I don't think so."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Leastwise, Lucian wasn't."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Hee."

Cat says, "So - unless Hans is correct and Andre has been churning out automatons at a prodigious rate - someone moved Nora's body into Elisabeth's tomb."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "We had given Andre... not so much 'permission' as the implication that we would look the other way... if he resurrected Elisabeth Sommer, one of Morgana's friends from the crypt."

Gert asks, "Were there plans for Elizabeth?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "But this instead seems to be Nora Alice Kelly, a completely *different* one of Morgana's friends from the crypt."

GM says (to Hans), "You find Franziska in the cloister, sewing. Lucia is also there: clearly having returned from wherever it was she and Edgardo were supposed to have stopped to wait."

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "Not gave him permission! We unearthed the body ourselves!"

Cat says (to Gert), "Morgana wanted us to resurrect her first. Or so we assumed. And it seemed that she would be a valuable ally."

Hans asks (of Franziska), "Could I speak with you for a moment, in private?"

Cat says, "Unless what Morgana was getting at was that Elisabeth was *already* in the process of being raised. By Trujillo."

(From GM) Lucia says, "Go. You're slow enough with the needle as it is."

(From GM) Franziska puts down her sewing and goes with Hans.

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "details details"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee"

Hans brings her up to the belfry with the others. As good a place as any.

Cat says, "So, ah, we may want to find out what Trujillo intends as soon as possible."

Hans asks (of Franziska), "What can you tell us about Andre's... activities... since we were last here?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I wonder if we should mention those love letters to Lucia"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I don't remember that."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I thought there were love letters from F to du S."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "But don't rememebr any others."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "right, but Lucia works for F"

(From GM) Franziska says, "well, he's been very busy with all these tiny clockwork gears and things ... about yesterday he suddenly started to rip through his design notes and redraw a lot of things."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Oh, I misunderstood the prepositional phrase."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "('letters to Lucia')"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, heh"

(From GM) Franziska says, "he says we have to go to the crypts to get ... er ... someone else?"

Cat says, "Too late for that, I fear."

Hans asks (of Franziska), "Has he been back to the crypts yet?"

Hans asks, "Or is this still... his first project?"

(From GM) Franziska says, "no. He said he'd do all the basic groundwork first, and wait for you to come back and get the other body for him."

Cat asks, "Should we confirm with Morgana?"

Hans nods. "It seems that Cat is right."

Hans says (to Franziska), "Thank you."

Cat exclaims, "Of course I'm right!"

Hans says (to Cat), "Yes, yes, it was bound to happen eventually."

Cat exclaims, "Time to storm the school!"

Gert heads down to talk with the Baron.

Hans asks (of Franziska), "Is Morgana still where she was before?"

Cat asks, "How long do we have until this archery contest, anyway?"

Gert exclaims (at Baron), "We got the letter!"

(From GM) Franziska nods.

Hans nods and heads off to talk to her.

(From GM) Baron says, "Wunderbar!"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "The archery contest isn't until this afternoon."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Whenever that is."

Gert asks, "So, you want help switching back at the festival?"

(From GM) Baron says, "I am just getting dressed. The seamstress, Lucia, came back just in the nick of time. We put her to work making the outfits."

Cat extracts the letter and hands it over to the Baron.

Gert says, "Excellent."

Gert asks (of Baron), "Unless you want us to hold onto it still?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "har"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I *so* do not trust anything that woman stiches"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I suppose we can trust Lucia with this"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, ".. ha ha"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I am expecting some kind of embroidery-sorcery to crop up any minute"

(From GM) Baron says, "Hm.... I think, though, that merely presenting Chevalier with this letter might not be enough. The important thing is that some outside power should know about it."

Cat asks, "Would Falisci be appropriate?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "right, well, we know just the outside power"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "I *guess* Lucia is on F's side, who is on du S's side, who is on Helvetica's side... sort of?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "In theory, Lucia is aligned with Prince Falisci, who is aligned with duSices, who at the very least is anti-Revolutionary forces."

Cat asks, "Or the Kleinbergs?"

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "Timing!"

(From GM) Baron says, "Not Eisen! No-one in Eisen!"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "we can tell Falisci how happy we will be to give back his letters once he officially recognizes Helvetica's independence"

[Helvetica] Cat says (to Arvid), "I like the way you think"

Gert asks, "Why not Eisen?"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "But he's not here!"

Arvid says, "the Eisen people we can tell about the *other* document we have"

(From GM) Baron says, "I should think Avalon or Vendel would be the best choice. Failing them, Castille, who only want an excuse to get vengeance."

Cat says, "oh, shit."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "we can tell Lucea to tell"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "But perhaps..."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "er, -ia"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "mumble"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "...the Herefords."

[Helvetica] Arvid says (to Hans), "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I guess hence the oh shit"

(From GM) Baron says, "If Sieger were to hear about the letter, he might decide to march right on in and take control again. It will be worse than the Montaigne."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yeah."

Gert says, "Oh, I guess so."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hmm"

Cat says, "shitshitshitshit excuse me, your lordship, bugger a badger sideways."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha more"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Hee."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I wonder if there is some IC connection we could convince to help out"

Gert asks (of Cat), "So... where is your family?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "it seems like this place would be useful for the IC to have"

Cat sighs extremely deeply. "The Earl of Hereford is in the region, I believe."

Gert says, "I thought we would have seen them at the duSices."

Cat says (to Gert), "knowing my luck, they've turned up for the show"

Cat says, "Of course, as a scion, I might be able to act in his stead if he didn't know about it."

(From GM) Baron says, "There is Locksley, of course. If he can be transported out."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "The Earl is Cat's dad?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yeah."

Gert asks (of Baron), "Where is he now?"

(From GM) Baron says, "Oh! Well, if you can pretend to be an emissary of the Queen of Avalon, that might do as well!"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "that's why they were trying to marry her off"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I like to think of it more as: I am the Earl, but my title has been delayed by a clerical error"

(From GM) Baron says, "Chevalier has never met you before, has he?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Ha ha ha ha ha."

(From GM) Baron says, (to Gert) "Locksley is in his room, at the moment."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha ha"

Cat says (to Baron), "um, much as I would love to help, that would probably constitute treason"

Arvid says, "I am afraid all of us are persona non grata with Chevalier at the moment"

Cat says, "unless her Royal Highness were to approve thoroughly of my actions after the event, which... might be a stretch"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "or personae non gratae, I guess"

(From GM) Baron says, "well, what about the switch with Pervenche? Do we have a plan?"

Gert says, "I think we need to make one right now."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "So while I'm on my way to find Morgana..."

[Helvetica] Hans | GM says, "Morgana pulls the four of swords (a tomb with a sleeping knight) out of the deck."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I am now guessing that does not mean 'tomb'."

[Helvetica] GM says, "oh, sorry."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "But rather 'dead guy'."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "In this case, Trujillo."

GM says (to Hans), "You find Morgana."

Gert says, "We need to get you onto campus without being seen, which I think won't be a problem, get Pervence onto campus while being seen, which again is not a problem, then switch the two of you while nobody can see you."

Hans exclaims (at Morgana), "That is not Elisabeth Sommer!"

Gert asks, "Perhaps in a room on campus?"

Hans says (to Morgana), "I thought you said she was in the crypt."

GM says (to Hans), "she is sitting very still, with a chessboard laid out in front of her."

Cat asks, "Are Edgardo and Lucea likely to be able to speak for Falisci?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "even without hands she can still flip you off"

Hans looks down at the board.

Arvid says, "not officially"

Arvid says, "hmm"

Arvid says, "but they can probably make arrangements to do so"

Cat says, "Possibly we should ask them."

[Helvetica] GM asks (of Hans), "Wits+Strategy/Tactics?"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "Ah!"

[7thsea] Hans rolls 1k1: 2 | 2

[Helvetica] Cat says, "yes, that's chess all right"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "You can tell from the pieces shaped like a horse."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I am good at chess if you want to come get me"

Gert asks (of Baron), "How about we make the switch in that temporary office you have on the first floor of the boy's dorm?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "(but I assume it doesn't really matter)"

Gert says, "That has a window Pervenche can slip out of afterwards that's pretty well enclosed by trees."

Gert says, "And he would have an excuse to go in there."

Hans says (to Morgana), "Right. Chess. I've seen it played before. I know some of the rules."

Hans says, "But I have no idea what *this* *means*."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "perhaps she figured tarot cards were too easy"

Hans says (to Morgana), "If you want us to help you, then you need to help us."

Cat goes to find Edgardo and Lucea, hopefully with the Baron.

Hans says, "And playing cryptic games to confuse us is no help to anyone."

Gert asks (of Baron), "Maybe some of your arrows can be there? You know, the special ones you always use in archery tournaments?"

(From GM) Baron says, "Hm. Sapt will be here shortly for some so-called last minute errands. I can arrange with him to have them 'accidentally' left in that room."

Gert says, "Perfect."

Hans says (to Morgana), "I see that you have nothing to say aside from this game you're playing."

Gert says, "Well, *you're* going to be there too, so you can bring them with you if need be."

Gert says, "But either way."

Hans says, "Maybe I'll come back the next time I want to play games."

(From GM) Morgana picks up her cards and lays out the nine cards again. This time, the Star and the High Priestess are face up, the others face down. She places the Magician above the first card, then slides it over to the space above the Star. Then she lays down The Tower.

Cat asks (of Lucia), "The Baron craves a favour of your lord. Are you entitled to conduct negotiations on his behalf?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "well, the tower obviously means a rook"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "You mean belfry?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "The lightning-struck tower."

[Helvetica] GM says, "as it is sometimes called."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "my understanding is the tower is a pretty bad card"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, resurrection, hunh"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "That's the only way to get the 1.21 GW it takes to resurrect a corpse!"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hrm"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I hope there's no storm, that'll ruin the archery tournament"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Was there a lightning storm when Morgana was woken up?"

Hans asks (of Morgana), "What good is the Star to Helvetica?"

(From GM) Lucia says, "I? I do not speak to my lord. That is a man's job."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I don't remember one, but Trujillo's methods may be different from Andre's"

Cat snorts

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Yeah, but then why is she putting Andre and the Star in the Tower?"

(From GM) Lucia says, "You want my husband, Edgardo for that."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "she didn't put them in the tower, did she?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Well, she put the Star and Andre together, then followed that with the Tower."

Cat asks, "ach, if you insist. Edgardo?"

(From GM) Lucia says, "will do whatever I tell him to."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Because Andre and the Star are in the belfry?"

Hans says, "So the Star and Andre are in the Tower."

Cat asks, "Then how about I talk to you, and then we talk to the respective men and tell them what we've decided?"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "But it is the lightning-struck tower, apparently."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

(From GM) Lucia says, "as you wish. what do you desire?"

Hans says, "You are here."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I assume that meant other resurrection going on"

Hans says, "The Queen of Swords is *somewhere*. I thought she was in the crypt, when you showed us the tomb..."

Cat says, "The Baron needs independent recognition of a letter, penned by one du Sices, which establishes the independence of Helvetica."

Hans says, "*Someone* is in the basement. De L'Isle? The Six of Cups? Who knows."

Hans says, "Your cards are all shuffled."

Hans asks, "Who shuffled them?"

(From GM) Morgana turns over the Queen of Swords and the Six of Cups.

Cat says, "If Falisci is willing to witness it, it is likely that the Baron will regard your suit in the whole vanilla debacle a little more favourably."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Are they in the wrong positions in the tableau?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "no, they're in the right place."

Cat says, "As well, as establishing a bond of gratitude, and so forth."

(From GM) Lucia says, "ah, so our friend Kramer will be handed over to us?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Anyone want to guess whether or not we've learned anything we didn't know already?"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "from Morgana?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yeah."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "she doesn't seem all that helpful now, no"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "but c'mon, this is the endgame"

Hans shrugs.

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "you don't get new information now"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "you maybe get it after the climax as a teaser for next time"

Cat says, "well, I believe that some form of due process would still need to be followed"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "If you knew Chess, you'd have seen that."

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "I thought the endgame was when you *got* new information, so that you could act on it and wrap things up!"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "no way"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "we already know what to do: sneak into the city and punch people"

Cat says, "as Kramer is technically a vassal of the Baron's and as such is entitled to certain rights of fealty"

Hans shrugs.

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "hmm, have we talked to Etienne? do we want to?"

Hans wanders back out.

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Nah."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "He probably won't know what Guy was doing."

(From GM) Lucia says, "hm. So the question is, will it be easier to negotiate with the Baron, or with the Montaigne revolutionaries."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Hmm, we should have asked the Abbot if he had anything (like blood) with him when he was found."

Cat says, "further, we would return to him some potentially embarrassing letters which otherwise might cause great hilarity among the fashionable courts of Europe"

Hans finds Arvid.

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Is Arvid still hanging out with the Baron?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "yeah, I think so"

Cat says, "I hate to use the term 'blackmail', but I have already composed a little song about the more unusual elements thereof. Would you like to hear a verse or two? It's really quite catchy."

(From GM) Lucia says, "Falisci's word is so important to you, is it?"

Hans says, "Greetings."

Hans asks, "How do plans progress?"

Cat shrugs. "We have other options. We just thought that your lord might wish to gain an ally."

Arvid says, "well, we've made arrangements for the Baron to swap places -- once Stub appears he can pass the word back on"

Hans says, "Ah, good."

(From GM) Lucia says, "Very well. For Signor Kramer, his beans, and the letters, we shall be prepared to act as our Prince's witnesses to this letter."

Hans asks, "So we can reveal the letter then, and all will be done?"

Hans says, "Save for the fighting, that is."

Gert asks, "Should we split up so two of us can go with the Baron and two with Pervenche?"

Arvid says, "well .."

Arvid says, "the Baron thinks we will need some outside power to recognize our nation"

Hans exclaims, "Ah!"

Hans says, "Well, my parents should be coming for the wedding."

Gert says, "...someone who's not Eisen."

Hans says, "They may ev-- oh."

Gert says, "Since he doesn't want Sieger to attack again or something."

Hans asks, "Hmm. Cat's parents are also nearby, are they not?"

Cat bows. "We shall consider it."

Cat goes to find the Baron

Arvid says (to Hans), "it's true they have a way of turning up at inconvenient times -- possibly they can turn up at a convenient one"

Cat hums a jaunty little tune as she goes, singing an occasional line or two in Vodacce

[Helvetica] Arvid exclaims, "hey, is the Baron married? Cat can marry him!"

[Helvetica] GM says, "He's been widowed...."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "It's settled, then."

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "what would that solve?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "well, then he'd be allied with a powerful Avalonian family"

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "other than that he's the least awful single male in this entire boyforsaken country?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha boyforsaken"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "Gert's parents aren't of any particular political importance, are they?"

Hans asks, "What about Lord Rurikovich?"

Cat says (to Hans), "a *real* noble"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha ha"

Hans exclaims, "Hmm. We are running out of nations!"

Hans starts counting on his fingers...

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Nah, they're servants."

Cat explains Lucia's proposal to the Baron

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ok, so I dunno"

Hans asks, "That leaves Castille... Vodacce... Fallisci?"

Cat says, "Personally my only qualm is Kramer; I dislike the idea of bargaining with hostages"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "we have no castillian connections whatsoever"

Gert says, "With the added connection of duSices, right."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yeah, so they might be the best choice."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "they're not mad at us yet"

Cat says, "at least, unless we are certain that he *is* a murderer and thief"

[Helvetica] Arvid exclaims, "oh, wait!"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "what about Pedro?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Got any Vendel connections?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks (of Arvid), "Is he noble?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "probably not"

(From GM) The Baron nods. "Not my first choice, but beggars can't be choosers."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "but maybe he knows some peope"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "l"

Hans says, "We shouldn't throw a possible innocent under the hooves."

Cat says, "If I can locate my parents, they might oblige, but I am certain that their conditions would involve me marrying someone awful."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "I assume you don't know any useful Vendels?"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Cat), "Marrying the Baron *would* probably satisfy them."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "it is plausible that I might through teaching but I have never stated as much"

[Crows-Nest] Gert says, "You are carrying: Useful Vendel"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "The absolute ruler of the newest up-and-coming nation on the continent?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "like I was saying earlier, the invisible college seems like a reasonable bet too but it'd take some time for them to pull strings"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hmm, yeah."

(From GM) Sapt arrives.

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Maybe we can negotiate something besides Kramer with Lucia?"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Why did they want him, again?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "So did we find out that L and E don't actually care about the inquisition or evil science or such?"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "Either because he's an evil scientist or because they think he killed people."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I'm not sure which."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "But either way, they might take Trujillo."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hmm"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "it's not totally clear"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "like, I got the impression Falisci sent them here to keep an eye on him"

Cat runs a speculative eye over the Baron.

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "it may be that they wanted to steal his discoveries and run"

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "how long has the Baron been in charge of the school?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I wonder if we should talk to Pedro."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "But we might not have enough paper."

Hans asks, "If we cannot find a witness who will satisfy Chevalier, what happens?"

Hans asks, "We fight?"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "if it's more than ten years then he would have been headmaster when I was a student, and that is Just Not On"

Hans asks, "And then when we win, is Helvetica officially sovereign?"

(From GM) Sapt says, "Sorry I'm late! I was detained. And we have to hurry ... the archery tournament begins in about an hour. And!"

Arvid says, "no, then Montaigne sends more troops until we're all dead or they run out of troops"

(From GM) Sapt pauses to catch his breath.

Cat says (to Hans), "in general 'nobody else is alive to complain about it' establishes legitimacy, yes"

Arvid says, "... and no, the second item is not more likely"

[Helvetica] (from Hans) Cat says, "because I already had a few nights with the headmaster, and if you think I'm going back to him..."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "bow chikka bow"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ha ha ha"

Hans says (to Arvid), "I thought that there were hardly any troupes left."

Hans says, "After they finished fighting that entire revolution."

[Helvetica] Cat cuffs Arvid and Hans around the ear

Hans says, "I think the phrase 'watermelon patch' may have been involved at some point."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "He seems to be In Charge in general, but doesn't do the day-to-day stuff, so he was probably not around much."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Oh, wait, and there wasn't a boy's school when we were here."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "So there would have only been a headmistress."

(From GM) Sapt says, "I overheard the plans they have for the tournament. They're planning to re-enact that apple trick, you remember the one. They just had a lottery to determine who's going to hold the apple."

Arvid asks, "... who is it?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "(I guess I need hardly ask)"

(From GM) Sapt says, "Susanne Pervenche."

(From GM) Sapt says, "(the lottery was fixed, if you ask me)"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "see, swapping the baron in will take all the stress off"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "he'll be all "enh, not *my* daughter""

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Hee."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ha ha yay."

Arvid says, "well, if there's only an hour to go, there's no time to spare -- we'd better get into the city"

Cat says, "I suppose I can track down my parents and see if they have a more acceptable solution. But I doubt it."

[Crows-Nest] Hans says, "What's Suzanne's Brawn check! We need to look up how much damage an arrow does..."

Gert says, "OK, let's get moving! Sapt, give the Baron the nice arrows to use for the tournament, and when you see Pervenche, tell him they're in the Baron's temporary office on the boy's dorm's first floor. We'll do the switch there."

Hans asks, "Were we supposed to be baking a pastry of some sort?"

Gert asks (of Sapt), "You want some of us to come with you, or should we just help with the transfer itself?"

Arvid says, "we'll have to smuggle the Baron (and ourselves) into the city"

Arvid says, "perhaps we can disguise ourselves as prize zucchinis"

Gert says, "And a singing tomato."

Hans says, "This is a festival."

Hans asks, "Who needs to smuggle?"

Gert says, "We just need to make sure nobody recognizes the Baron when we go in."

Arvid says, "bag on his head"

Gert says, "Mostly, dress him in a long cloak."

Cat says, "I would feel a lot better if we had a noble witness *before* we ran off to the party."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "this is once again an opportunity to humiliate an NPC for my amusement"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, man"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ha"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "another awesome idea would have been to give the baron etienne's potion"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee hee hee"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "That *precise* thought crossed my mind as well."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Curse you for being faster."

(From GM) Sapt says, "All right. I'd better just pick up Pervenche's outfit and hurry back to the castle."

Gert exclaims, "We'll see you there!"

Cat says, "But if it comes to it I can invoke my own status, which might buy us time to get something a little more solid."

Cat says, "I'm going to need a more feathery hat."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I would probably split up the party if that wasn't a strain on the gaming group."

Arvid says, "I think if we raise the city in revolution it'll take a few days before the Montaigne army can do anything"

Arvid says, "and hopefully by that time we can make arrangements to make it a fait accompli"

Arvid says, "(as the Montaignes would say)"

Cat says (to Arvid), "a fine plan."

(From GM) Sapt goes to pick up the outfit from Lucia and run off.

Cat asks (of Baron), "have you made any efforts to organise a resistance, if it comes to it?"

Gert finds a long cloak for the Baron to wear on the way into town and saddles the horses.

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Anyone have Disguise?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "just Cat"

Gert asks (of Cat), "Can you arrange this cloak so people won't know it's the baron?"

Arvid finds a big farmer hat to wear

(From GM) The Baron says, "The people are willing to rise up for me, if that's what you're asking. I suspect that the Montaigne were counting on that as well, so as to make it especially dramatic when they unmask Pervenche."

Cat says, "Certainly. Hold still, sir."

Arvid also takes a big bag of carrots from the monastery supplies

Arvid sticks a big piece of straw in his mouth

Arvid exclaims, "all set!"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ha"

[7thsea] Cat rolls 4k3: 4 9 4 9 | 22

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Not bad."

Hans says, "Looks a bit like a very tall bird."

Hans says, "But at least, not like the Baron."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "it occurs to me that *Laura* is next in line for the barony"

Gert gives the Baron the horse that always likes to ride in the middle of the pack.

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Who?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "baron's daughter"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Baron's daugher."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Last seen canoodling with Camilla."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "prone to giggles"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "well, Lord Rurikovich can marry her"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Can we let someoen who would deflower a girl on the bight before her wedding rule Helvetica?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "s/bight/night/"

[Helvetica] Cat asks (of Hans), "you haven't *read* your family history, have you?"

Arvid and the others head into the city

Cat says, "Of course, on the bright side, my parents might not turn up at all."

GM says, "It's all set up for the festival. Flowers and banners everywhere."

Cat says, "No reason why they would."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Of course not. I have people to do that."

Cat says, "They hate festivities. Homebodies, the both of them."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "if we found a new country we'll need a flag"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I just know that it is standard for men in my family to have very large dogs which must be regularly exercised."

Cat says, "Hate to travel. Don't like mountain air. Um, allergic to holey cheeses."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "and an anthem"

Gert takes the group on a reasonable route that nonetheless avoids the crowds and especially the soldiers.

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "perhaps incorporating that song Cat was just singing"

[Helvetica] Cat says (to Arvid), "that depends on whether Falisci is willing to cooperate"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "if he doesn't, that's a fine idea"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "rhyming 'Helvetica' with 'Falisci sticks it in ya'"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "snrk"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I think every national anthem needs about five verses of 'smash the worthless foreign bastards in the face / kick them in the goolies and thank Heaven for its grace'"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "so we can tap Hans for that"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I think you need a 'soundly' before 'in the face' for that to scan."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I bet nutmegging is involved somehow"

[Helvetica] GM is very fond of the Marseillaise. Regrets that Canada's national anthem isn't bloodthirsty enough.

[Helvetica] Gert asks (of GM), "Any trouble sneaking the Baron into the office in question?"

GM says, "Okay. You seem to be mingling in the crowd with not much trouble."

Arvid, once they're in the town, finds an IC contact and hands off a coded message to somebody at the Vendel embassies in Eisen and Avalon, urging them to support the new nation as best they can

Arvid says, "probably too late to be useful, but it can't hurt"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "rule, Av-a-lon / Avalon rules the elves / Ev-ry-body else can fuck themselves"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "(based on the number and reach of 7th sea secret socities, my assumption is all embassies are composed of nothing but secret agents for one faction or another)"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee"

(From GM) Alexandre LaBelle winks and takes the message. He has ways of getting messages places.

Hans looks for a cart selling some sort of pastry. Preferably with meat in. Because the best way to blend in at a festival is to be eating a foodstuff purchased from a random cart vendor.

[Helvetica] Gert says (to GM), "Yay"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, ha ha"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I missed that one"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I think I still have missed it."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I assume his middle name is Grahame"

[Helvetica] Gert asks (of Hans), "Would it help to know his middle name is 'Grahame'?"

[Helvetica] Arvid exclaims, "I guess it is!"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Oh, heh."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "oh dear"

GM says, "You manage to wander off to the school where it's all pavilions and science-fair projects."

Cat looks around in the pranciest places, hoping to spot Important People before they spot her

Arvid locates a hard cider seller along the way

Hans says, "Hmm. A shame Morgana could not attend."

Cat says (to Arvid), "you always have the best ideas"

(From GM) Miss Kilbride's Hard Cider! The hardest ride ever!

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "when this is all over we will get Andre to make her a robotic spider chassis so she can go off-road"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee hee"

Cat exclaims, "I feel we're all going to need a drink before today's over. Cheers!"

Arvid says, "good idea"

GM says, "You turn a corner of the boys' dorm towards the window of the temporary office. You seem to be alone."

Arvid says, "and if we have one now, we can *still* have one later"

Gert scouts ahead.

Cat raises a stein. "To free Helvetica!"

Arvid exclaims, "amen!"

Hans exclaims, "To free Helvetica!"

GM says (to Gert), "Wait! There's someone wandering around the grounds there!""

Hans toasts with his batter-dipped pheasant haunch onna stick.

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

Cat does her best beer-hall mug-flourish

Gert motions the Baron to lay low, and goes to see the wanderer.

Arvid passes the word to some people in town he knows and trusts, to let other folks get ready

GM says (to Gert), "It's a woman ... flitting ghost-like ... wait, she IS a ghost."

[Helvetica] Arvid exclaims, "hunh!"

Gert blinks.

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "what *is* the Baron's coat of arms, anyway?"

Gert runs back to the group. "Cat! I need your hand mirror!"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Wasn't there a ghost around sometime circa the sleepwalking?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

Cat says (to Gert), "oh, you look just beautiful as you - oh, all right"

Gert says, "The rest of you, get the Baron to the room--Pervenche may already be on the way."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "wait, are all ghosts mirror ghosts?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I dunno, but Gert is assuming so."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "fair enough"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Worth a try, anyway."

Gert exclaims, "There's some sort of ghost here!"

Arvid and the others are heading to the rendezvous, I guess.

Gert, armed with Cat's and her own hand mirrors, heads for the ghost.

Gert gets closer and sees if she can recognize her.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Alternately, you could try talking to it before you attempt the hostile action of taking it captive."

GM says, "This one is a mirror ghost, yes. You can tell by the empty, bloody eye sockets and the bloody stumps where the hands appear to be missing."

GM says, "Also, it's Elena/Azelma."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Oh dear."

[Helvetica] Arvid exclaims, "whoah!"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "nice"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "what the hell"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I suppose this makes her someone dead, probably."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Maybe burning the arrows stopped the her last anchor?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Perhaps this is what happens when a porter opens their eyes."

Cat snorts hard cider through her nose.

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "wonder if she had a falling-out with wosshisface"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "Oh, hmm."

Gert. o O (Oh, man.)

Cat says, "ack thpt lord, that stings."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Trapping her inside with no way to get out of the rift?"

Gert charges, arms akimbo, holding the mirrors!

Hans says, "Poor woman. She couldn't have deserved that."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Yeah, like if she was already Walking on her way."

Cat says (to Gert), "It would be easier if we did it like we did last - oh, dear."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Yep. The border sentry's job was to get you all out of the carriage while Azelma ported in via the arrows and nicked the letter."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, ha ha"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "whoops"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Since the arrows were burned right then, while she was in transit, she had no way out."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "Good timing."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Wow, timing."

[Helvetica] Cat says (to GM), "but I had that letter in my - oh. wait. In my *other* clothes."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "Not that it matters now, I suppose..."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Yeah, I do find it unlikely that we'd not have the letter on our person the whole time, but maybe it was just a bad plan."

GM says, "So let's have the finesse rolls to trap the ghost."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "also, the problem with the dual-wielding hand-mirror thing is that you basically have to give her a hug"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Straight finesse?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I guess I have Dirty Fighting."

[Helvetica] GM asks, "Finesse+occult maybe?"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "seems Improvised Weapon-ish to me"

[Helvetica] GM says, "oh, well, if you're basically trying to give her a hug of entrapment, maybe grapple."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Grapple! That sounds perfect."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[7thsea] Gert rolls 4k3: 7 9 9 9 | 27

GM says, "The ghost just has time to let out a shriek, and then she's in the mirrors."

Gert. o O (Whew.)

GM asks, "Meanwhile, the baron .... what's being done with him?"

Cat says, "he's being sneaked in"

Gert takes out a piece of twine, ties the mirrors together, and slips them back in her pocket.

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I'd like to check if my parents are here *before* the big event, but we can keep the group together for now"

GM says, "The window to the office is open, and you can hear someone pounding on the door. 'Monsieur le Barone! I heard a scream! Mon dieu, why did you lock the door if you are only looking for your arrows?'"

Arvid says (to Cat), "go distract that guy, Hans and I'll get the Baron in"

[Helvetica] GM says (to Cat), "there's no sign of them. You certainly don't hear your mother complaining about the dratted countryside."

Gert runs around the dorm and goes in the front door.

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "or, wait, is Cat here?"

Cat runs around

Hans asks, "Right. So which room did we say?"

Arvid says (to Hans), "or, ok, *you* get the baron in and I'll distract the guy"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I said I was sticking with the group and assuming I'd look for them later"

Arvid says, "his temporary office in the boy's quarters"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, good"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "but I guess that they're going to carefully turn up at the Dramatic Moment"

Gert (loudly) "Cat! Thank goodness! Would you believe I just saw a *ghost*!"

Cat asks, "What, *another* one?"

Gert wanders down to the office hallway.

GM says, "In goes the baron, out comes the count."

Gert says, "I know! I very nearly fainted, and it screamed at me!""

Arvid says (to Count), "ah, I see you're holding up well -- now, just take those clothes off and put on this other cloak"

GM says (to Cat&Gert), "and down the hall comes running someone dressed in Chevalier's servant livery."

Cat snorts cider through her nose again

Gert exclaims (at guy), "A ghost! Would you believe it!"

Cat dodges behind Gert

Gert stands in the guy's way.

(From GM) Servant says, "of course, this is Montaigne. You don't find ghosts anywhere else." Runs off.

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "har har"

(From GM) Servant says, "of course, this is Montaigne. You don't find ghosts anywhere else." *attempts* to Run off.

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Can I try to... OK, yay."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hopefully the Baron will come out"

Gert pulls out the mirrors, waves them under the guy's nose.

Gert exclaims, "It's a good thing I had these mirrors, let me tell you!"

(From GM) Servant says, "Excuse me, ladies, I must, er, check on something ... I have to go to the field out behind there."

Gert exclaims, "Oh, heavens, no. That's where the ghost was!"

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "tie him up and leave him in a broom closet?"

Gert puts her hand on his shoulders.

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "just on principle?"

Gert asks, "Look, do you know how to dispose of one of these?"

GM says, "Meanwhile, Rodolphe Pervenche is quickly putting on the cloak and hat etc."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Er, 'shoulder', not shoulders."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "First, you need to get a box. Then you attach a long hose. Something with a foot-pedal on the end, I think."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Some sort of lightning-based firearm might also be involved. But I'm a bit hazy on the rest."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee"

(From GM) Servant says, "eh? Sure, just give it to me. I really --" And then the door at the end of the corridor opens and the Baron emerges, quiver slung over his shoulder. Another servant, waiting by the door, meets him.

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

Gert says, "Oh, gracious, I don't want to bother you about it, I just want to know how it can be done. I can do it myself, of course."

Gert exclaims, "Oh, hi Baron!"

Gert exclaims, "All ready for the archery tournament, I see!"

Gert absentmindedly drops the mirrors back in her pocket.

(From GM) Servant sees that the Baron has not after all escaped out the back window, and relaxes. "Oh, as you wish. I simply give them to M. Chevalier, who always has uses for them."

Gert says, "Oh, OK."

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "do we have time to check on Trujillo's Secret Workshop of Doom before the contest?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Well, you could probably watch the contest from the Secret Workshop of Doom."

Gert exclaims (at Baron), "Did you know I've never seen you shoot? I've been looking forward to this!"

Gert follows the Baron to the field.

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Sounds good. But do we need to be ready with the letter when the time comes?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "and to punch people"

[Helvetica] GM asks, "oooh yeah. Who has the letter?"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "Cat, I think? or Gert?"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Cat said she gave it to the Baron; did he take it?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Cat?"

[Helvetica] Alex says (to Hans), "Awwwk! Word on the street is that cat is my favorite unix program."

[Helvetica] Arvid says (to Gert), "oh, right"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Then the baron has it."

[Helvetica] Cat says (to Hans), "that's what rope-swinging is for"

[Helvetica] Cat says (to GM), "me, at the moment"

[Helvetica] Gert asks (of Cat), "Oh, you kept it when the Baron said we needed someone else to verify it?"

[Helvetica] Cat says (to Gert), "seemed like suicide to let him keep it"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Sounds good to me."

GM says, "The tournament is about to start."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Never leave anything truly important in the hands of an NPC?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee"

GM asks, "Where is everybody when it does?"

Gert is as near to the Baron as she can manage.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I think we are in the Secret Lightning Tower Workshop of Doom."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "no punching? well, ok"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Provided there is a convenient way to dramatically descend when chaos starts."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "yeah ok"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "sounds good to me"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "although a bodyguard near the Baron is a good idea too"

Gert. o O (Hey, this'll keep other Porte dudes from interfering, too.)

[Helvetica] Hans says, "A rope to swing down from, or just a mob of soft Montaigne soldiers to land on..."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Cat), "That's apparently Gert."

GM says (to Hans&Arvid), "You climb up the thirty-nine steps to the topmost room where Trujillo supposedly has his workshop."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I'm certainly not missing an opportunity to swing down from ropes"

GM says (to Hans&Arvid), "The attics. Wide windows let in the light; you can clearly see the festivities going on below."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "so, yeah, workshop"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Thirty-Nine_Steps"

Hans says, "Ah, good. I was hoping for wide windows."

GM says (to Hans&Arvid), "The workshop is at one end of the attics ... but unfortunately the door is locked."

[Helvetica] * Doe has joined the channel.

GM says, "Also, it's beginning to get a little overcast."

Hans picks it, the same way he did back and the monastery.

[7thsea] Hans rolls 6k2: 6 2 4 2 8 1 | 14

[7thsea] Hans rolls 7k2: 8 5 9 5 4 4 10+10+6 | 35

[7thsea] Hans rolls 7k2: 8 6 7 8 6 10+1 9 | 20

Hans says, "This is not the time for subtlety."

GM says (to Hans), "You hear someone scurrying around inside."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Does the door open?"

GM says (to Everyone-else), "Chevalier is making a speech about how grand it is to be here at the annual autumn festival, implying without actually saying that he's going to be governing the place for a long time to come."

GM says, "The door finally smashes open."

Hans marches in. "Alright. Anything going on here that we need to throw you out of a window for?"

GM says, "Meanwhile, down below, Susanne Pervenche takes her position under an oak tree. Someone puts an apple on her head."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Do the kids know their dad was taking the Baron's place?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "And the Baron takes two arrows, one for the apple and one for Chevalier."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "it seems like they must have realized"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "wait, where am I? I thought I was with Hans&Arvid"

[Helvetica] Alex says (to Cat), "Awwwk! Word on the street is that cat is my favorite unix program. Furthermore, a moggy is a cat."

GM says (to Hans), "the room is perfectly still. There's all sorts of weird weird-science stuff everywhere. There's the body of a woman lying under a blanket, on a table. And Trujillo is lying on the floor, not breathing."

Gert keeps an eye out for potential saboteurs.

[Helvetica] Arvid says (to Cat), "you can be either up or down"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "but if you have the letter, you probably want to be down"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "aww, I wanted to swing down on a rope"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Trujillo doesn't need to breathe, remember."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "but I would probably break a leg"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "so I suppose I'll be somewhere near Gert"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "(am I remembering correctly?)"

GM says (to Gert), "Edgardo, all dressed up like a noble, is clearly visible. The Baron introduces him as an ambassador from Vodacce."

Hans kicks Trujillo. "Get up."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "oh, reeeeally"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "doesn't sound too good for Kramer"

GM says, "He explains away Edgardo's past status as 'oh, he was spying on us. you know them sneaky vodacce.'"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "hooray"

Hans says, "Whatever."

[Helvetica] Cat scans the crowd for anyone unexpected

Hans ties Trujillo's ankle to something near enough that he won't be able to get in the way when he gets up.

Arvid goes and pulls back the blanket

Hans asks (of Arvid), "Is it Elisabeth?"

[Helvetica] Cat asks (of Hans), "how would he know?"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "unless there is a great big sword attachment"

GM says, "The Baron raises his bow. There is a rumble of thunder in the distance."

Arvid shrugs. "I've never seen her."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "but is it a corpse we disinterred?"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Cat), "He wouldn't, as far as I know, but that doesn't mean Hans wouldn't ask him."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "guys? you might want to start unplugging things"

GM says (to Arvid), "this one is almost certainly Frau Schlegel."

[Helvetica] Hans asks (of Cat), "But Buffy's supposed to be on our side, right?"

Arvid frowns.

[Helvetica] Cat says (to Hans), "the manner of her revival might affect that. who knows"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Yeah, seems a good time to clear things away."

[Helvetica] GM says (to Gert&Cat), "someone make a wits+disguise roll."

Arvid says, "this isn't one of the ones we expected, Hans"

Hans asks, "Oh. Wrong corpse?"

[7thsea] Cat rolls 4k3: 10+4 6 6 3 | 26

[Helvetica] Gert says, "That'd be Cat."

Hans says, "Better not let it wake up, then."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Just for fun:"

[7thsea] Gert rolls 2k2: 8 4 | 12

Hans swings his sword and smashes the most important-looking piece of fragile equipment attached to her. And the second, just to be safe.

Arvid examines the machinery to -- oh well

Hans exclaims, "Careful! You could get hurt, putting your head that close!"

GM says (to Cat), "there's a beggar on crutches who just signed up for the archery tournament. He looks suspiciously Locksley-ish."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Yay"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hooray"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Aha."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "well, of course"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "also, it would be funny if he defeated the baron"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "time to split wands"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Split wands?"

[Helvetica] Cat says (to Gert), "all the Robin Hood stories tend to involve a target that's a single, thin stick stuck upright in the ground"

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "Ah, that!"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Huh, hadn't heard that."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I assumed you just meant splitting one arrowshaft with a second."

GM says, "The Baron lets his arrow fly ... it goes straight through the apple and pins it to the tree. Susanne faints."

Hans says, "So far, so good."

Cat roars in appreciation

GM says, "Chevalier is startled. And then the storm breaks overhead."

Gert cheers, and savors the look on Chevalier's face.

Hans says, "Good thing we're inside, in all this rain."

Hans says, "We should be safe from the thunderstorm up here in this tall tower."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "ha ha ha"

Arvid says, "yeah, uh, I'm --"

GM says (to Hans&Arvid), "There's an earth-shattering kaboom as lightning strikes somewhere exceedingly close by. The equipment fizzles and pops."

Arvid looks up at the copper wire leading out the window and up

Hans says, "I *told* you not to get your head too close."

GM says, "Then Trujillo suddenly comes to life."

GM says, "(How did you tie him down, and with what?)"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Rope, around his ankle. The other end to whatever immobile object was closest."

Cat mutters, "what's your game, Locksley..."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I think the closest object was the Table of Experiment Doom"

GM says (to Cat), "The Baron is calling for you to join him up on the dais."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Works for me."

Cat ulp

Cat says (to Gert), "wish me luck."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "But I am now AFK for just a moment."

Cat strides out to the dais, taking her time

GM says, "Trujillo is screaming that you've ruined everything. He's trying to attack you."

[Helvetica] GM says, "(to Hans & Arvid, obviously)"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Back."

Hans says (to Trujillo), "Hush. We're watching the archery competition."

Cat does her best Dramatic Entrance, cloak flapping in the wind

Cat blows a kiss to Chevalier

GM says (to Cat), "The Baron announces that, for the benefit of our new Montaigne friends, we would now like to have a public reading of the letter that gave us our independence, to thank them for their generosity."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Is he rational enough to try to untie himself, or is he just gasping like a dog on a short leash?"

Cat clears her throat

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "Oration check or something?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "You need to be heard above the storm. Yeah."

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "which stat?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Panache"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "okay, adding a DD"

[7thsea] Cat rolls 6k4: 5 10+10+2 1 8 8 3 | 43

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "aw yeah"

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "Awesome!"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Well, I dunno about anyone else, but we can hear her from up in the tower."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

Cat strides about the dais, gesturing dramatically in finest Great Politician style

(From GM) Trujillo gasps for breath (he doesn't need air to live, but he does need it to pump threats through his voicebox) and grabs a scalpel.

Cat says, "...and in conclusion, Walt dear, you can take that pile of frozen rocks and stuff it."

Cat says, "Yours, du Sices."

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "My threat pumper is wronged!"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And given that the text of the letter is probably, 'And given that it would be just too much of a bother to control all of that silly mountain, I've decided to just let the Baron have the thing. Let him call it his own country or whatever makes him happy.'"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "This is quite an achievement."

Gert cheers!

(From GM) Edgardo makes sure to cheer loudly.

Hans says (to Arvid), "This seems to be going reasonably well."

(From GM) Trujillo slices through the rope with the scalpel.

Gert starts a chant of "Hel-Vet-I-Ca!"

Cat takes it up

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Is he charging me?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Please let him be charging me."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Oh yes."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Not the snappiest of chants, but hey."

Hans looks back at Trujillo, then at the very large window in front of him.

(From GM) Trujillo charges at Hans

Hans sidesteps.

[Helvetica] Cat says (to Hans), "this is where you learn about freakish, unnatural strength"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Panache + Footwork?"

(From GM) Trujillo goes right through the window just as another thunderclap sounds. Of course, everyone chanting 'Hel Vet I Ca' down below sees this.

[Helvetica] GM says, "Nope, I was really hoping you'd do that."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "awesine"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee"

Hans says (to Arvid), "Quite well, in fact."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "er, awesome"

Arvid says, "I guess this is a happy ending"

Gert gasps. "Hans!"

Arvid says, "we should probably go downstairs and see where he landed"

Hans says, "Hopefully not on the cart selling those delicious battered pheasant haunches."

Arvid says, "... and see how Chevalier is taking it"

GM says, "And there's a gasp of horror as Trujillo goes plummeting down to the archery range."

Hans exclaims (at Gert), "It's alright! It's nobody important!"

Gert nearly faints with relief.

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "onto suzanne"

[Helvetica] Cat says (to Arvid), "yay"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "man, way to steal my limelight, dead guy"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee hee"

[Crows-Nest] Gert says, "#song-titles Dead Guy (Way to Steal My Limelight)"

[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "ha ha"

GM says, "Albert des Amis has decided to leave the crowd and go up to the Workshop Of Doom...."

[Crows-Nest] Gert asks, "Does the Baron look like he's in any danger from Chevalier or something?"

Cat glances over at Chevalier.

GM says, "While Chevalier is making the shortest speech of his life, in order to get away quickly and go do whatever it is that political villains do."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "(Only asked here)"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ah, no."

Hans says (to Albert), "Ah, Albert! It's been some time."

Gert heads over to look at Trujillo's body.

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "His letter proved that he was on Chevalier's side, right?"

Cat mutters to the Baron, "Is it fixed with Falisci, then?"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "oh my yes"

[Helvetica] GM says, "From Chevalier? No, Chevalier knows much better than to attack the Beloved Leader in front of the mob."

Hans says (to Albert), "I had nearly forgotten that I owe you a beating."

(From GM) Baron whispers, "as long as Edgardo and Lucia hold up their end of the bargain, yes."

Hans draws his sword. "Consider this a formal challenge, from one swordsman to another."

GM says (to Gert), "well, he's certainly dead."

Cat says (to Baron), "we'll just hold onto the letters until they do, I think"

[Helvetica] Cat exclaims (at Hans), "climb onto the rooftops!"

[Helvetica] Gert asks (of GM), "How can I tell?"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "He's not breathing!"

(From GM) Albert says, "tsk tsk tsk. You had to complicate things, didn't you?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "well, he's probably in bits"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "possibly he's a bit... distributed at this point"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Well, technically, he's always been dead....."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ah, a good time for the old phrase, 'put a cap on him, he's distributed'"

Hans says, "If complications didn't happen, life would not be a terribly interesting story."

Hans says, "And I, for one, intend to live in interesting times."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

(From GM) Albert says, "Very well. I don't imagine that anyone will protest when I tell them I just dealt with the murderer of M. Trujillo."

Cat hands over the letter to Edgardo. "You'd be well-advised to wait until the Baron can provide you with an escort; your last escape method needed some work."

(From GM) Albert says (to Arvid) "And you, right after M. Kleinberg. Oui?"

Arvid says, "I'll wait til the fight is over before I make you any promises, eh"

Arvid says, "and we can see if you're in shape to receive them"

[Helvetica] Gert asks (of Cat), "Do we want to try renegotiating for something besides Stefan Kramer?"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "And/or see if Locksley will work instead?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "You're thinking of turning the Robin Pimpernel over to him?"

(From GM) Chevalier calls over some soldiers and loudly tells everyone that, in return for their hospitality, he will now use the forces at his disposal to deal with the shocking murder that has just taken place.

[Helvetica] Cat says, "Locksley is just a knight; scarcely nobility at all"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "But he's on du S's side, and she's on F's side, and L and E are on F's side!"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "No, if Locksley can act as an agent of Avalon to witness the letter."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "Oh, right."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "well, we don't know what Locksley's actual status is"

Gert exclaims, "Wait!"

Gert exclaims, "This man was already dead!"

Gert asks, "Is there a doctor in the Yards?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Doesn't Gert have Doctor?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Yeah, but I'm the one making the outlandish claim."

(From GM) Chevalier ignores Gert, and runs into the school.

Cat says (to Baron), "I hope you have your big independence speech planned, because this is all going to get very confused very quickly if we don't impose some direction"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, ""is there a doctor in the house? oh, yeah, me""

Gert says, "Bah."

[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "initiative."

[7thsea] GM rolls 4 dice: 7 8 7 1

Gert exclaims, "Everyone! Chevalier is about to commit an atrocity! Follow me!"

[7thsea] Hans rolls 3 dice: 5 3 4

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

Gert unslings her axe and runs after Chevalier.

[Helvetica] GM says, "lemme check the valroux style"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I of course don't have anything like Oratory, so whether anyone follows is largely a matter of whether the crowd thinks whatever follows might be a spectacle."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Better take your top off, then."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Okay. One round with just Hans and Arvid and Albert. Then Chevalier will show up with Gert (and Cat if she follows) behind him."

[Helvetica] Cat says (to Gert), "I can always supply a 'He's getting away!' if you need an Angry Mob"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Sounds good."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(Wait, what am I saying, this is my girlfriend!)"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Better take *Cat's* top off."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I have no idea if having everyone follow is a good idea or not, but feel free to make it more plausible ;-)"

[Helvetica] GM says, "ONE"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "(one round, not phase, right?)"

(From GM) Albert starts aggressively with an attack.

[Helvetica] GM says, "round, yes."

[7thsea] GM rolls 6k3: 10+1 3 2 3 9 5 | 25

Cat strikes a dramatic pose and points in Chevalier's direction. "People of Helvetica! Your oppressors flee before you!"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "A hit."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "-1 unkept die from his damage roll, for dracheneisen."

[7thsea] GM rolls 5k2: 7 4 10+4 2 8 | 22

[Helvetica] GM says, "oops"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ow"

[7thsea] Hans rolls 4k4: 6 2 1 1 | 10

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Eep."

[7thsea] GM rolls 4k2: 7 2 8 4 | 15

[Helvetica] Cat asks (of GM), "shall I just roll, and you can have the mob do its thing at your leisure?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Sorry, forgot to drop the unkept die."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "SO the second one counts? I'll use a DD."

[7thsea] Hans rolls 1k1: 7 | 7

[Helvetica] GM says (to Cat), "roll Wits+Oratory to whip up the mob."

[7thsea] Cat rolls 5k3: 3 5 9 3 6 | 20

[Helvetica] GM says (to Cat), "This will take a round, meaning that if you follow, you'll arrive the round *after* Chevalier and Gert."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "sure"

[Helvetica] GM says, "TWO"

[Helvetica] GM says, "THREE"

Hans says, "A fair start. Now it's my turn."

Hans responds with a simple attack of his own.

Cat asks (of Baron), "are you coming?"

Cat says, "It's your country, after all."

[7thsea] Hans rolls 7k3: 9 9 1 9 6 9 8 | 27

GM says (to Cat), "There's some mutterings in the crowd, but after the grand speeches from the Baron and Chevalier, not everyone's quite convinced that there was any real oppression going on."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "You said Exploit was a +4 to school-related knacks?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "for EW 2, yes"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "ach dammit"

[Helvetica] GM says, "that's a hit."

[7thsea] Hans rolls 6k2: 5 5 4 8 2 8 | 16

[7thsea] GM rolls 3k3: 7 2 2 | 11

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "har har"

Hans asks, "Were you ready? You don't look ready. Did you need a rest first?"

Hans says, "Too bad."

Cat says (to Baron), "your stage, then; I have a friend to look out for"

(From GM) Albert says, "Ah! A touch, not much more.

Cat jumps down and sprints after Gert and Chevalier

(From GM) Albert says, "You really should stop trying to overcompensate."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Did you say that you aren't using the >10 dice rules from the book?"

Hans's blaze and he bares his teeth.

[Helvetica] Cat says, "oh ho ho"

[Helvetica] Hans inserts the word 'eyes' someplace appropriate in that sentence.

Hans says, "Please. Say that again."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Yeah, bare your eyeteeth."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

(From GM) Albert says, "Oh, would you like a hanky to clean out your ears?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "FOUR"

Hans says, "I just wanted to cherish that memory of you, for when you're gone."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Did you say that you aren't using the >10 dice rules from the book?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "I don't like 'em, so no I'm not."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Are you using any alternative ones?"

[Helvetica] GM asks, "Well, with the convenience of the dice-roller here, we don't need alternatives, do we?"

Hans bounds onto a chair, then the table, and uses that momentum to bear down on Albert.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "It helps make having lots of unkept dice more useful."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "But I can manage without it."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(I'd take a raise on my attack if you were using the rule.)"

[7thsea] Hans rolls 7k3: 10+8 4 9 10+6 5 4 1 | 43

[Helvetica] Cat says, "bam"

[Helvetica] GM says, "oof. hit"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Can drama dice be added to damage rolls?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I think not."

[Helvetica] GM says, "No, that would just make some things too too wrong."

[7thsea] Hans rolls 7k2: 10+9 8 6 5 6 9 6 | 28

[7thsea] GM rolls 3k3: 4 6 8 | 18

[Helvetica] Hans says, "That's probably the real reason for the ten-dice rule, then :)"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "a palpable hit, sir"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "So that you have a way to get >2 kept dice of damage if you're awesome enough."

[Helvetica] GM says, "FIVE"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "what, no disarm?"

[Helvetica] GM asks, "eh, I miss something?"

Hans pants, loudly. He may be slavering slightly. But he holds his action.

Hans says, "Go ahead. Hit me."

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims (at Arvid), "Disarm? I want to kill him, not disarm him!"

(From GM) Albert says, "Don't mind if I do."

Arvid says (to Albert), "well, I can't say you haven't managed to get his attention"

[7thsea] GM rolls 6k3: 10+2 4 8 6 5 1 | 26

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Huh, he has good attack rolls. A hit."

[Helvetica] GM says, "30 if Hans wants to parry"

[7thsea] GM rolls 4k2: 4 5 5 10+3 | 18

[7thsea] Hans rolls 4k4: 9 8 9 9 | 35

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "That's 33 flesh wounds?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "let me check scrollback"

[Helvetica] GM says, "ah, right."

[Helvetica] GM asks, "Still on Seven?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yeah."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I'll step in if he misses me or if I'm in danger of being crippled."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Or if he runs out of actions, of course."

(From GM) Albert pauses a moment, moving on phase 8 next instead of taking his second phase 7 action.

[Helvetica] GM says, "EIGHT"

(From GM) Albert suddenly launches a furious attack on Hans

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Hmm. He must have Resolve 3 or better. Hope it's not 4."

[7thsea] GM rolls 6k3: 3 1 5 2 9 2 | 17

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "A miss?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "21"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Grr. Stupid NPC's taking the useful skills too."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(OK, so the chances of him missing me are quite small, then.)"

Cat elbows her way through the crowd, cursing

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Anyway, I guess that's a hit, then."

[7thsea] GM rolls 4k2: 7 4 8 1 | 15

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(Must raise Parry to 4 as soon as I can.)"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "48, so I need at least a 28 to not be crippled? Or 29?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "29"

[7thsea] Hans rolls 4k4: 9 8 7 7 | 31

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Sure, no problem."

[Helvetica] GM says, "heh, nice."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Woo"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(I am going to be so dead if he hits me again, won't I...)"

Hans says, "Hmm. Not bad."

Hans says, "You have the speed to hit me."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Right now, your flesh wounds go to zero."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh yeah"

[Helvetica] Cat says (to Arvid), "perhaps you could couple up the lightning-rod to Hans' blade"

Hans says, "That would be quite useful if you had the strength to actually injure me."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Cat), "Ooh.."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Cat), "But I think another one of my characters would claim copyright violation."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Also, I suppose I'd better act now."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "dunno what happens when you electrify dracheneisen, but I bet it's pretty dramatic"

[Helvetica] Arvid | http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ThisIsSomethingHesGotToDoHimself

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Before I take so many flesh wounds I start to actually get hurt."

Hans asks, "Mind if I take a turn?"

(From GM) Albert says, "oh, be my guest."

Hans says, "Thanks."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "One raise, just because."

[7thsea] Hans rolls 7k3: 5 8 2 6 8 6 10+4 | 30

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "A hit, or does he defend?"

(From GM) Albert isn't going to just let you hit him like that, though. He sweeps his sword and main-gauche together to block.

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "awesome"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "But can he beat a 34?"

[Helvetica] Arvid exclaims, "let's find out!"

[Helvetica] GM throws in 2 drama dice.

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Well, a 29, with your raise."

[Helvetica] Hans asks (of Gert), "Do raises also affect active defense, or just the difficult of my initial roll?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Also, it's an action he's not spending attacking you."

[7thsea] GM rolls 8k4: 4 4 8 2 1 9 5 10+9 | 41

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "Right."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yes. Yes he can."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "dangit, I guess he can"

Hans exclaims, "Ah! You impress me!"

(From GM) Albert says, "I aim to please."

Hans says, "It is good that your final fight will be an entertaining one."

GM says, "At this point, Chevalier and his squad come rushing through the attic, with Gert on their heels."

(From GM) Albert says, "A fight without some entertainment is not worth the blood, no?"

Hans glances at them briefly, then back to Albert.

Hans says, "Indeed so."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Initiative"

[7thsea] Hans rolls 3 dice: 8 9 9

[7thsea] GM rolls 4 dice: 7 6 7 1

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Ack."

[7thsea] Gert rolls 3 dice: 9 2 4

[7thsea] Arvid rolls 2 dice: 5 8

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "And Cat's not here yet?"

[7thsea] GM rolls 3 dice: 7 1 3

[7thsea] GM rolls 3 dice: 10 1 9

Cat reaches the school doors and starts charging up staircases, cursing the stupid useless mob who wouldn't know a cruel foreign oppressor if it set them on fire

[Helvetica] Hans says, "While I would like to beat up Albert on my own, if anyone can, say, remove my flesh wounds somehow... that I would not object to."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "next round"

[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "you currently have no flesh wounds."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "How's that?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "New fight?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "when you take a dramatic wound"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(s/fight/scene/)"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "When you get a dramatic wound, your old flesh wounds go away."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "I took a dramatic?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Oh, I did."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I knew that."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Yes, you rolled less than 44."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I kept the 48 on my sheet and forgot to replace it with one dramatic."

(From GM) Albert says to Chevalier, "oh by the way, you'll be my second, of course?"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "I feel much better now. Thanks!"

(From GM) Albert then turns his attention back to poking holes in Hans

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(Sorry, have I mentioned that Hans isn't good at math?)"

Arvid says, "it's a little late to have seconds at this point"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee"

[7thsea] GM rolls 6k3: 7 4 3 1 9 8 | 24

[Helvetica] Hans says, "A hit, of course."

[7thsea] GM rolls 4k2: 10+8 10+10+6 2 5 | 44

[7thsea] Hans rolls 4k4: 2 3 7 6 | 18

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "Ow!"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "...this isn't good."

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "drama!"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Um. Just a moment."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "26, huh?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "OK, let's see how many it takes..."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "25, I think."

[Helvetica] Cat says (to Gert), "looks as if you're going to have to save someone"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Except, then I can't get hit again, or I have to do it all again."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Hrm."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "No, you again take one dramatic instead of two."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "If you can get to 25."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "I have one already."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "And this will be your second leaving you crippled."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "If I'm crippled, then..."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "So your dice don't explode."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Or something."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Um. I forget. Does it just stop my explosions?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Oh, alright. I guess I can handle that."

[Helvetica] Gert asks (of GM), "What's the rule on crippled?"

[7thsea] Hans rolls 1k1: 2 | 2

[7thsea] Hans rolls 1k1: 6 | 6

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "no explosions, by the book"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "(except drama dice still explode, apparently)"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "(I believe there is a 'noexplode' die roller here)"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ah, right."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Arvid), "Hmm. That must make it tricky to roll drama and normal dice together."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Anyway, so I take on dramatic wound after spending two dice, apparently."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Just declare that the drama die is the last one in the list."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yeah."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "isn't there some swordsman knack you can use to end this more efficiently, even if you don't want to disarm the guy?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(Now I really wish I could have used that ten-dice rule... four raises to bring me to 10k3 damage would have probably given him an extra dramatic wound, preventing that 10+8 10+10+6 roll...)"

[Helvetica] Cat says (to Arvid), "he never wanted to disarm him in the first place, I think"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Hang on a sec. I think I am a victim of faulty accounting back here."

[Helvetica] (from Cat) GM says, "tum te tum, carry the one... okay, you're dead"

[Helvetica] GM realises that he didn't register ... one of the dramatic wounds somewhere.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I can bind his sword, preveting him from using it, but he still has his main gauche."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And I can beat, but that just means he can't use an active defense."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "Albert's taken two dramatic wounds, I believe"

[Helvetica] Hans asks (of GM), "You mean he doesn't have three resolve?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "No, no he doesn't."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "So he didn't roll 10+5 10+10+8."

[Helvetica] GM says, "No, that would be 20 flesh wounds, not 44."

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "Woo!"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And I beat that with my first drama die."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "So I didn't roll a second one."

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "Yay!"

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "does this make you no longer utterly screwed?"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "Yes!"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And Albert might be."

(From GM) Chevalier stands back while his squad goes to apprehend Arvid. Is Arvid going to come quietly?

Hans asks (of Albert), "Do you consider it dishonorable to continue attacking a man after disarming him?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "(that is, the squad is holding their actions until Arvid fights back or whatever."

Arvid says (to Guards), "first of all, given the current political changes, are you *really sure* you want to do anything rash? second of all, I intend to finish watching this fight"

(From GM) Albert says, "Is that a trick question?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "TWO"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "'First, you don't want to attack. But if you do, don't bother waiting for me -- just go ahead and attack whenever!'"

Hans says, "Maybe."

Gert says (to Chevalier), "I tell you, that man was already dead. Any doctor can verify that his body died well before today."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I think I will interrupt on two."

[Helvetica] GM says, "sure"

Hans says, "If you consider it dishonorable, surrender now and lose honorably."

Hans says, "Otherwise, do not surrender, and lose anyway."

Hans asks, "Your choice?"

(From GM) Albert says, "Hah! I'd rather go down swinging, if you please."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Disarm. Two raises to hold his sword in my other hand."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "That's Brawn + Disarm versus his Brawn + Attack. Adding two drama dice, to be on the safe side."

[7thsea] Hans rolls 9k6: 4 3 6 9 1 10+5 10+4 6 3 | 54

(From GM) Chevalier, seeing that the Helvetican mob is not within earshot, says to Gert, "My dear, I think we are past all that. This is merely vengeance."

[7thsea] GM rolls 6k3: 8 10+4 3 1 8 9 | 31

[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "you got him."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "aw hell yeah"

Hans:swings his sword down, and Chevalier cleverly swishes it aside. Then Hans continues his sweep in a loop to come back up right under the blade, smacking it upwards, out of Albert's hand, spinning through the air...

Gert exclaims (at squad), "Do you hear that? Your leader admits his deceit. Surrender now, or taste my axe!"

Hans /|\-/|\-/|\- snatches it in his panzerhand.

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

Gert charges at the squad!

Hans says (to Albert), "Your move."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hey, maybe I will try Intimidate."

[Helvetica] GM gives Hans a drama die

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Thanks."

(From GM) Albert says, "Oh, a very good show. I'm not going to surrender, though, so what do you do now?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Um, now I wait until phase nine."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "It's the rules, unfortunately."

Gert roars at the squad "Drop Your Weapons!"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

Gert runs at them with her axe.

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "these swordsman's guild regulations are so archaic"

Arvid steps aside politely to give her room

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I forget what I roll for Intimidate."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Feel free to hold your actions until then so you can try to passively defend with your main gauche when I hit you again."

[Helvetica] GM says (to Gert), "Resolve+ .... oratory? + whatever bonus you get for Large."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to GM), "Ha."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "OK, adding a drama, I suppose."

[7thsea] Gert rolls 4k3: 9 4 1 10+4 | 27

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hey, not bad."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I had forgotten that Large gave an Intimidate bonus."

GM says, "A couple of the squad spring out of the way."

[Helvetica] GM says, "THREE"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to GM), "Psst. That's you."

(From GM) Chevalier grabs a broken jar and tries to hit Gert with it.

[7thsea] GM rolls 3k2: 8 10+7 8 | 25

[Helvetica] Cat says, "little does he know that the jar is full of ELECTRICITY"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "Don't let all the leydens out!"

[7thsea] GM rolls 1k1: 8 | 8

[7thsea] Gert rolls 5k4: 7 4 10+7 5 8 | 37

[Helvetica] Cat says, "what we really need is for Mlle. Sommer to get up and join in on the final round"

Gert turns around, annoyed.

[Helvetica] GM asks, "FOUR?"

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "That's me!"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Would it be gauche to attack Chevalier?"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "go for it"

[Helvetica] GM says, "He just attacked you."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Sure."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to GM), "Yeah, but Cat did have dibs."

[7thsea] Gert rolls 6k3: 2 5 1 9 6 2 | 20

[Helvetica] Cat says, "technically I could claim NO, HE'S MINE but this would probably result in his not having his ass handed to him quite so hard"

Gert spins around and swings her axe at Chevalier!

[Helvetica] Cat says, "and I am very results-oriented"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] GM says, "that's a hit"

[7thsea] Gert rolls 8k2: 1 10+6 1 4 2 3 5 1 | 21

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "You would be happy to just use your pointy-toed shoes on him while he is already on the floor?"

[7thsea] GM rolls 2k2: 1 8 | 9

[Helvetica] GM says, "FIVE"

[Helvetica] Cat says (to Hans), "sadly I am wearing the big musketeer boots that you have to fold the tops over about five times"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "but I can always just shoot him"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I go on 5 but it seems like Gert and Hans have things under control"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Unless Albert does something inconveniently useful on 6, 7, or 7."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "But I am kinda hoping he has not taken Grapple."

[Helvetica] GM says (to Arvid), "in which case the remaining squaddies just settle down beside you and pass the popcorn."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Unlike certain soil traders I could mention."

[Helvetica] GM says, "SIX"

(From GM) Albert says, "In any case, you see, I am not exactly disarmed.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I suppose they taught them in brute school about official swordsmen's duels."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Drat, I burned two actions, but he's not disarmed?"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "'don't get involved, you'll just get a candelabra kicked in your face'"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "well, he's got a dagger, yeah?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Well, true."

(From GM) Albert tosses his main-gauche to his right hand (making it a main-droite), ducks a little and stabs at Hans.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "But I was hoping he'd only have like one point in Attack (Knife)"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "but hopefully he's got a lower attack roll with that"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "The damage goes down and he still doesn't explode."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "True."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Wait, am I talking about Albert or a guided missile?"

[7thsea] GM rolls 5k3 (no explosions): 7 2 10 8 2 | 25

[Helvetica] Hans says, "But he can still hit me pretty easily."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I guess active defense is wits."

[7thsea] GM rolls 3k2 (no explosions): 5 7 10 | 17

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Whew no explosions."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Active defense is *actions*."

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "Also true!"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "If I had any of those, I'd be attacking instead of defending."

[7thsea] Hans rolls 4k4: 6 6 1 1 | 14

[7thsea] Hans rolls 1k1: 5 | 5

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "I have... 37 flesh wounds?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Yeah, that's a single dramatic if you let that go."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I don't want to get crippled and not be able to explode my next two wound checks, unfortunately."

[7thsea] Hans rolls 1k1: 5 | 5

[7thsea] Hans rolls 1k1: 7 | 7

[7thsea] Hans rolls 1k1: 2 | 2

[7thsea] Hans rolls 1k1: 4 | 4

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I think that does it."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Whew."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "That's a lot."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yeah."

[Helvetica] GM says, "SEVEN"

Cat huff puff damn you stairs

[Helvetica] Gert says (to GM), "Hans and I don't go until 9, FWIW."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I guess I won't need any drama dice after tonight, so I may as well use them."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, right, I forgot Cat was still running over here"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And hope that the GM is nice and doesn't use them back at me."

(From GM) Chevalier grabs the (disconnected) lightning rod and swings it at Gert like a club.

[7thsea] GM rolls 3k2: 6 2 2 | 8

GM says, "Given that he's not exactly made for fighting, he misses miserably."

[7thsea] Cat says, "man, if he's this useless I may be forced to take him on one-on-one"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

Gert sighs, and almost feels sorry for the guy.

(From GM) Albert says, "you know, they do say that a dagger is a good deal faster than a sword."

(From GM) Albert slashes at Hans's midsection.

[7thsea] GM rolls 5k3 (no explosions): 6 4 4 1 5 | 15

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "...a miss?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "An actual miss?"

Arvid makes a few small bets with nearby guards

[Helvetica] GM says, "it appears so"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "It's a miracle!"

Hans, surprisingly, actually bothers to deflect it this time.

(From GM) Albert holds his other action on seven, watching Hans warily.

[Helvetica] GM says, "EIGHT"

[Helvetica] GM asks, "NINE?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Nine sounds good."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "NINE?!?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I believe I shall attack on nine."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Is Arvid doing anything/"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "nah"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Remarking at how well Trujillo's loghtning-popped Midnight Maize tastes."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Er, how good."

Gert thwaps Chevalier on nine, thwapping him on the head with the flat of her axe.

[7thsea] Gert rolls 6k3: 5 8 6 2 5 7 | 21

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Alsi, lightning."

[7thsea] Gert rolls 8k2: 9 4 3 9 4 10+8 7 5 | 27

[7thsea] GM rolls 2k2: 2 1 | 3

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Typing skills fading..."

[Helvetica] GM says, "OW"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "...must kill villain quickly..."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "OK, so I want to do damage this round. So I'm taking three raises."

(From GM) Chevalier gasps, staggers back, glares daggers at squad, yells for assistance.

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "you get a free raise because he missed you"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "One is free, since he was nice enough to hold off asfter missing me, and -- right."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "DO I know his TN?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "20"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "OK, so my target is 20 + 15 - 5 - 4 (three raises, free raise, exploit)."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I'll add a fourth raise to make the TN 31 and throw in a DD."

[7thsea] Hans rolls 8k4: 1 8 1 8 6 6 1 8 | 30

[7thsea] Hans rolls 1k1: 5 | 5

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Two DD."

[Helvetica] GM vaguely recalls that 7k4 seemed to roll about 32 pretty regularly.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I guess that eighth die is pulling the rest down."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Does he actively defend?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Okay, he was going to defend, but 35's a bit high for a guy with 2 wits. so damage."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Darn."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I was hoping that would be too much wisdom for a guy with 2 wits :)"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Especially as he'd be trying to block a broadsword with a dagger."

[7thsea] Hans rolls 11k2: 3 3 5 10+9 6 8 2 2 2 1 9 | 28

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hey, not bad"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yeah. The fourth raise really did add a whole point."

[7thsea] GM rolls 2k2 (no explosions): 1 6 | 7

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "...and does he use any drama dice?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "wait a sec, brawn 3"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Oh."

[7thsea] GM rolls 3k3 (no explosions): 5 6 2 | 13

[Helvetica] GM says, "No, dramatic wound"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "As distinct from 'No dramatic wound'"

Hans leaves Albert with blood flowing from nearly every part of his torso.

[Helvetica] GM doesn't use the drama dice much ... doesn't even remember how many he has.

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Well, you just got an extra 7 or 8 from us."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I, on the other hand, know exactly how many I have."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "So it's always basically 'as many as you want'."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "Try '11'."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "From me, anyway."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "jeez"

(From GM) The squad leaves Arvid (who was a remarkably poor sport) to go after Gert

[Helvetica] Gert says, "It would be interesting one time to try GMing using all the drama dice at your disposal."

[7thsea] GM rolls 4k3: 1 6 7 10+7 | 30

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Where 'interesting' == 'cruel'?"

[Helvetica] Cat says (to Gert), "*briefly* interesting"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "The thing is, there are so many more of him than there are of us."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "THere are four of us. Ever."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "He's *everyone else in the universe*."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I dunno, I'm expecting a fifth and sixth after the wedding"

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims (at GM), "That's a hit!"

(From GM) Albert says, "I think my minutes are numbered. But never let it be said that I didn't put up a good fight."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Did the whole squad join in, or did the Intimidated folks hang back?"

[7thsea] GM rolls 5k3 (no explosions): 4 7 8 9 1 | 24

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yeah, but it'll be at least a year, probably two, before they can hold broadswords."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] GM says (to Gert), "4 out of 6."

Hans says (to Albert), "Indeed. That, at least, I do respect."

[7thsea] GM rolls 3k2 (no explosions): 8 7 6 | 15

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "also, yeah, I think the "real drama die economy" is workable, but you'd have to design the NPCs with that in mind"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Wait, that's a predetermined number of flesh wounds, isn't it?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "like probably make them a little less challenging than you would otherwise"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "25 flesh wounds now, I think."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "How much damage total? I'm TN 20, I'm pretty sure."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "I thought that was Albert attacking me just now."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "and (potentially) still cap a max dd budget per fight depending on how seriousthe fight was"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "(at any rate, wound check:)"

[7thsea] Gert rolls 5k4: 4 9 6 4 3 | 23

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I think the squad of 4 hit rolled a 30 and hit Gert"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I am not sure how much damage they did"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And my wound check, versus 35, I think:"

[7thsea] Hans rolls 4k4: 8 4 3 4 | 19

[Helvetica] GM says (to Gert), "12 flesh wounds"

[7thsea] Hans rolls 1k1: 4 | 4

[7thsea] Hans rolls 1k1: 4 | 4

[7thsea] Hans rolls 1k1: 9 | 9

[Helvetica] Gert says, "That's 20 total, so I'm still OK."

[Helvetica] GM asks (of Hans), "trying to avoid another dramatic?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Right."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Okay, Cat arrives"

Cat bursts in through the door, a very Avalonian shade of pink

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Initiative?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Initiative"

[7thsea] Gert rolls 3 dice: 8 3 6

[7thsea] Hans rolls 3 dice: 4 7 1

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "I got a 1!"

[7thsea] GM rolls 4 dice: 2 4 9 5

[7thsea] GM rolls 3 dice: 1 10 5

[7thsea] GM rolls 3 dice: 8 6 1

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "Albert didn't!"

[7thsea] Arvid rolls 2 dice: 8 5

[7thsea] Cat rolls 3 dice: 10 1 3

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hey, wait, I got this roll last time"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I guess I kept it because I didn't use it"

(From GM) Chevalier says to Cat, "Oh, very nice of you to show up."

[Helvetica] GM says, "ONE"

Cat says, "I wish I could say the same."

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "I believe that I would like to attack Albert des Amis!"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yes. Yes I would."

[Helvetica] GM asks, "Really? Are you sure?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

Hans nods somberly to Albert. "You have fought well."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I am taking four more raises."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "This means I am looking for 20 + 20 - 4 = 36. So I am taking two drama dice."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Man, *you* have a ton of drama dice."

[7thsea] Hans rolls 9k5: 6 4 8 9 2 4 8 4 4 | 35

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "Had."

[7thsea] Hans rolls 1k1: 3 | 3

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Does he interrupt to actively defend against 38?"

[Helvetica] GM exclaims, "no!"

[7thsea] Hans rolls 11k2: 4 2 1 4 1 7 2 3 6 9 10+9 | 28

[Helvetica] Gert says, "And there's the 19 on the last die."

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "And the 9 on the next-to-last!"

[7thsea] GM rolls 3k3 (no explosions): 6 9 7 | 22

Hans -- still, you might note, standing on the table -- buries his sword deep into Albert's chest.

(From GM) Albert says, "Nicely fought, Monsieur ... I ... congratulate you." And passes out.

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

Hans says, "That..."

Hans says, "...was satisfying."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "Can I intimidate Chevalier into surrender? I mean, I could just shoot him, but if he's this feeble I hardly see the point"

Hans pulss out his blade and cleans it off and sheaths it.

[Helvetica] GM says, "you can try."

Arvid says, "right, well, you certainly took your time about it"

Arvid bustles around and sees to Hans's wounds

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "hmm. don't actually have the Intimidate skill. straight Resolve?"

Hans looks around the room, then hisses to Arvid: "Chevalier! When did he arrive?!?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "It's not a Skill, per se."

Arvid says, "oh, a little while ago, don't worry about it"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "You get some bonus from, uh, one of your stats."

[Helvetica] GM says, "there isn't an intimidate skill. it's you roll resolve, and then he does, and you compare."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "I think?"

Arvid says, "Cat is going to handle it"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "okay, throwing in a DD"

[7thsea] Cat rolls 5k5: 4 6 9 6 2 | 27

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Indomitable Will?"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "oh, yes, I have that too"

[7thsea] GM rolls 4k4: 8 5 9 6 | 28

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "what does that add?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "That gives you +2k0"

Hans says (to Arvid), "Good, good."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "With the drama dice, that'd be 7k5."

[7thsea] Cat rolls 2 dice: 8 7

[Helvetica] GM says, "I think you win"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "8 7 instead of 4 2 gives you +9, for a 36."

Cat says, "You're done, Chevalier. If you'd like to get out of this alive: kneel."

(From GM) Chevalier blinks.

(From GM) Chevalier says, "understand that I do so under protest."

Cat says, "Understood."

Cat says, "You're not exactly meant to be happy about this bit."

(From GM) Chevalier kneels, glancing at the completely incompetent squaddies he brought with him.

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee"

Cat grabs Trujillo's severed rope and uses it to secure Chevalier's hands

Cat asks (of Hans), "oh, gosh, that *is* a lot of blood. Are you all right?"

Gert fusses over Hans.

Hans says, "I will be, I think."

Cat says (to soldiers), "Okay, lads, show's over. I'd be making for the hills if I were you."

[7thsea] Gert rolls 3k2: 5 6 2 | 11

[Helvetica] Gert says, "(diagnosis)"

Hans says, "Once I we find a good seamstress."

Gert exclaims, "Wow, you're bleeding!"

(From GM) Soldiers say, "but we ARE in the hills!"

Hans asks (of squaddies), "Hey, how do you like it here in Helvetica?"

[Helvetica] GM exclaims, "And they're ALIVE! ALIVE!"

Hans says, "We can probably arrange to get you citizenship, if you're tired of working for this guy."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "just as long as you promise not to join the army"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "OK, are we done? I really should go ;-)"

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "But this was fun!"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "But... but..."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks (of Gert), "You can't think of anything... *important*... that hasn't happened yet?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Just say what you're doing with Chevalier."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "well, I'm going to march him downstairs and deliver him into the Baron's custody"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Oh, I assumed we were having another session for the post-climax activities."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "er, as it were."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Oh, are we?"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "if anybody wants to throw eggs that is their business"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "(though I am out of town next weekend, and might be busy the weekend after that)"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "Mrm."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Kind of a letdown to wait a couple of weeks just for an epilogue."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I might be busy the weekend after *that*."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Yeah."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ha, sigh."

[Helvetica] GM says, "So I'll just summarise and end here"

[Helvetica] GM asks, "?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Well, sure, do we want to press on through? Lemme check with the family."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I am up for pressing on"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "If we are getting at least 8XP for this, I could get Courtier before the wedding..."

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "For the price of a superior/knowing look from Sara (who predicted a 9:00 end time) I am free to continue!"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "Woo!"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hooray"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(9:00? You mean midnight...)"

[Helvetica] Cat exclaims, "that's a fine tradeoff as far as I'm concerned!"

Cat says (to Hans), "um, I hate to steal your glory here"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Yeah, I got off light ;-)"

GM says, "Well, holding Chevalier might stir up further trouble with Montaigne that the Baron really doesn't want, at least not until Vodacce and/or Avalon officially give recognition. So Chevalier gets to withdraw as gracefully as he can, vowing revenge."

Hans exclaims (at Cat), "You are not marrying Gert, not even if she does dress up as an Ussuran!"

Cat says (to Hans), "I meant being the First One Out"

Gert tends Hans's wounds and gives him a kiss. "You were *glorious* in there."

Cat says, "if I walk out with the captured villain, I get all the credit"

Hans says (to Gert), "Thank you, my darling... you make it all worthwhile."

Cat says, "if you walk out first all covered in blood, everyone lifts you shoulder-high"

Hans asks (of Cat), "What? Are you still here?"

Gert says, "Or thinks you murdered more than Trujillo."

Cat says, "you have to understand how to stage-manage these things"

Gert says, "All told, I think you should go out first, Cat."

Cat exclaims, "Okay!"

Cat trots down the steps with Chevalier at gunpoint

Hans says (to Gert), "Your friend just doesn't know when it's time to leave two people alone..."

Gert giggles.

Cat glances significantly at Arvid as she leaves

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Arvid and the squaddies are still passing the popcorn, of course."

Arvid says, "fine, fine"

Arvid says, "come on, lads"

Arvid says, "but if you think this is anything I haven't seen before .."

Arvid trots after Cat

Hans exclaims (at Arvid), "I thought I blocked up that hole in my wall!"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ha"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "snort"

[Helvetica] Cat says (to Hans), "you shouldn't have used that telescope"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Cat), "What? We're not actually married *yet*..."

GM says, "So, there's cheering."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Oh, sorry, not that telescope..."

Cat strides out through the front gates of the school, and leads Chevalier up to the Baron.

GM says, "Also, the clouds part."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "And birds sing."

Cat says, "No, no really. Too kind. It was nothing."

[Helvetica] GM asks, "No, seriously. The clouds part and the storm lets up. You think it was a *natural* phenomenon?"

Cat says, "Well, except that I had to run up all those stairs."

Cat waves.

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

Gert, after (ahem) tending to Hans, emerges later and does indeed dispatch an official doctor to examine Trujillo's body to get physical evidence of his prior demise.

GM says, "Well, holding Chevalier might stir up further trouble with Montaigne that the Baron really doesn't want, at least not until Vodacce and/or Avalon officially give recognition. So Chevalier gets to withdraw as gracefully as he can, vowing revenge. After the Festival, which he spends as an 'honoured guest' at the Schloss."

Gert exclaims, "Mom! You made it!"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "conveniently giving us time to arrange external recognition"

Cat abuses her newfound notoriety to score many free drinks

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Mmm, quite."

Hans buys Gert one of those batter-dipped pheasant haunches. Onna stick.

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Can we determine whether Kramer did indeed really kill anyone before handing him over?"

(From GM) Gert's Mom says, "Gertrude! What's this I hear about your groom canoodling with some Montaigne hussy?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha ha ha"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, ""it's ok, mom, she's in prison""

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I suppose we'd better let Antoinette out of that prison cell"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "but maybe after Gert's mother has gone home"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Does she still get to duel Gert at the wedding?"

Gert says, "Ha, ha, that's nothing--she's going to duel with me at the wedding! Or, er, at least, that was the plan at one point."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(Which Gert obviously would win.)"

Gert says, "I haven't seen her in days."

Gert says, "Not that I've been in town."

Gert exclaims, "I have so much to tell you!"

Cat goes and sits by the lake and throws pebbles into it.

Gert babbles happily and fairly incoherently with her mother, confusing her mother about the events, but finally making sense when she gets to the part about choosing lace.

Hans politely excuses himself.

GM says, "Antoinette has been having hysterics throughout the past week or so, locked up in the dungeon. She's giving up Twu Wuv to follow the IC route out to Ussura."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Two loose ends:"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Kramer, and Joseph/Nicolette."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I think it would be cute if the Baron and Cat actually did start dating."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "and Etienne"

[Helvetica] GM asks, "Are you actually feeding Kramer to the Vodacce?"

Arvid gives Antoinette a letter of recommendation to Lord Rurikovich

[Helvetica] Cat says, "not if we can help it"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Etienne, I know what's happening to him right now...."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "We're doing an investigation first, at the very least."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "or unless he can be proved to have done something"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "but that's mostly in the Baron's court"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I completely forgot that Joseph existed."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I think we are talking to Sir Guy and the IC folks to try to get some other recognition to bargain down the Vodacce"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I think we're willing to hand over the letters and the vanilla"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Yeah, that seems reasonable."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Can we arrange some formal joint Shriftsteller/Fallisci investigation into Kramer to find The Truth?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Not before Cat snakes a couple seeds without telling us, of course."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "yoink"

GM says, "Everyone (who can) is sneaking seeds without telling anyone else."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I can, but would not think of it, so it is convenient that Gert swiped a double portion."

GM says, "(but how many people figure out the secret plantfood, that is the question.)"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "it comes time to do the official handover and there's only like three seeds left"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I forget where Joseph's in prison"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "in Montaigne?"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims (at Arvid), "But after Lucea and Edgardo, that still leaves one for Fallisci!"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Who's Joseph?"

[Helvetica] Hans | Joseph du Paix (Jean's lackey; Justine's brother; probably in love with Nicolette; secretly anti-revolution and in league with Galahad; not very smart). Possibly a Montaigne spy?

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "Justine beign Sir Galahad's wife"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Jean being Jean Dupin, the Bois-Franc judge and friend of Chevalier, I think."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "And he got arrested? Whoops."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "Joseph turned out to be sympathetic to us"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I forget in what way, but he ended up getting arrested"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "so I guess it was helpful"

GM says, "Joseph's neck is safe for now: Chevalier intends to use him as leverage to get Justine to spy for him."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "we ought to do something about that but I imagine Sir Galahad can take care of it"

GM says, "(The resolution of THAT issue is another story for another time)"

Cat says (to Gert), "so, um, I suppose after the wedding I'll be moving on, then."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yeah, I would think. Breaking people out of Montaigne revolutionary prisons is not exactly tricky."

Cat says, "Since it's not as if I have any real reason to... I mean, this is your home, you have stuff to *do* here..."

Arvid says (to Cat), "oh, I dunno, the school is going to need another martial instructor now"

Gert says (to Cat), "Aww, Cat dearest, can't you stay? Things won't be nearly as fun without you, and I'm sure I can get you a spot teaching at the school if you want..."

Hans whispers (to Arvid), "Are you sure she knows how to fence?"

Gert exclaims, "Besides, we'll need someone to watch the kids!"

GM says, "In Montaigne, the reign of terror continues. Every so often, you get refugees passing through. Once, you get a crate marked 'apples', which actually contains a very short, very drunk artist."

Hans whispers (to Arvid), "Wouldn't she be better at, um. Almost anything else?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yay."

Arvid says (to Hans), "pssht, fencing is clearly an inferior method of swordsmanship -- I was thinking pistols"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "What about Francine?"

Hans nods to Arvid. "Hmm."

Cat looks fairly incredulous that anybody would trust her with school discipline

GM says, "Brother Etienne, reformulates his potion, using wormwood instead of blackwood. This very short artist promptly becomes Etienne's best friend."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

Gert whispers (to Cat) "Besides, I saw the look on the Baron's face when you walked out of that tower with Chevalier..."

Cat says, "although I probably have a better understanding of the school rules than anyone alive"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Do we ever find out what Guy wanted with the blood?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(And what does the reformulated potion do?)"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "gets you drunk and makes you hallucinate, I guess"

GM says, "Etienne confesses that, as Guy Heimlich, he was using some of the blood-of-the-universe in investigative experiments, none of which resulted in anything remotely interesting. The rest he sold to Stefan Kramer."

Cat says (to Gert), "hm. Technically I outrank him... yes, given time, I could absorb Helvetica as a province of Hereford..."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oHO"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Etienne *knew*?"

[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "as if in a dream, but yes."

Gert asks, "What, you don't want your own country?"

Cat says (to Gert), "oh, certainly, I'd just like a *bigger* one"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Oh, can you give us any translations for Morgana's signals that we misinterpreted?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "so was that Stefan's secret ingredient? it would make sense"

Gert says, "I mean, it's small, but a woman with the right business sense could set up a very lucrative business selling the mountain air to people with the Cough."

GM says, "Interestingly enough, rumours begin to spread of ghostly white flowers appearing here and there in parts of the Schwarzen Walder."

Arvid says (to Cat), "we'll start in the mountains and move out"

Cat says, "but I suppose I'll stay here and see what develops"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Arvid), "Blood? I thought we'd proven that already with the butcher."

[Helvetica] Alex says (to Hans), "Awwwk! Word on the street is that Blood is what makes the grass grow. KILL KILL KILL."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Alex), "Orchids, not grass."

[Helvetica] Alex exclaims (at Hans), "Awwwk! No parse found!"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks (of Hans), "right, but montaigne sorcery blood?"

Gert gives Cat a big hug and lifts her off her feet. And basically keeps her from breathing for a couple seconds.

[Helvetica] GM says, "Kramer just needed blood. Guy never told him where he got it from."

Cat says, "*koff*"

Arvid says, "I guess we work things out so Pedro does not get in trouble for Trujillo"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ah, I see"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hey, I can just look at the plot threads page and go down the list"

Hans says, "Perhaps your connections might also include a surgeon who could help restore his voice."

Arvid says, "hrm, it's conceivable"

Arvid says, "especially if we're going to be encouraging this town to turn into a medical resort"

[Helvetica] (from Gert) Arvid says, "I know this sea witch..."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Does Camilla survive long enough to not become a vampire?"

GM says, "Falisci is perfectly willing to let deliberations over Kramer's fate go on and on and on. A vanilla-flavoured dessert wine is marketed; it's very rare, however."

Hans says, "That seems reasonable."

[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "yes."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "can you tell us what the deal is with all the women in the tombs?"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "or is that Later Game Stuff?"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "yeah, I guess the Automaton Sisters are the biggest loose thread"

GM says, "Camilla returns to school for the next semester, taking extra heavy-weapons classes."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Are any of them actually vampires besides Lucy?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

Hans says (to Camilla), "Yes! Yes, I see you have the will to fight in your blood..."

(From GM) Camilla whimpers.

[Helvetica] GM says, "none of the others are."

GM says, "Andre pretends to be good."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Oh yeah, and that whole sleepwalking thing."

GM says, "At least until it is discovered that the storm that broke while y'all were dealing with Trujillo, Albert and Chevalier was actually Andre's doing."

Hans asks, "What...?!?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha ha"

Hans says, "Oh, the storm."

Hans says, "I misread that."

Arvid says, "oh, the non-metaphorical storm"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(as 'Albert and Chevalier was actually...')"

Hans asks, "Did it wake up the Star?"

Cat wangles an extracurricular Firearms class

GM says, "The Invisible College is VERY interested in Andre-Nicolas Valois."

Hans says, "Ah, good."

Hans says, "They can have him."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Oh, right, what was Trujillo's plan?"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Just to revive whats-her-face and make her his bride?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I dunno -- make a girlfriend, run off with her"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "give her a beehive hairdo"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Oh yeah, and what happened to Buffy?"

GM says, "Morgana and the Astronomy Maiden disappear during Andre's pretending-to-be-good phase. Then there's a spate of grave-robbing, and Andre disappears."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Why were the bodies in the wrong graves?"

Arvid says, "I suppose we'll be hunting him down in a few years"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Trujillo's plan was in fact to make a mate for himself."

Hans says, "Perhaps Erich will become a PC and help us."

Cat says, "This, ladies and gentlemen, is the future of warfare: the muzzle-loading flintlock."

[Crows-Nest] Hans says, "He could be played by Sargent, perhaps..."

[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "hee hee"

[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "they weren't. Andre just decided at the last minute that it would be a better idea to control the weather, and to use Nora Alice Kelly to do it."

[Crows-Nest] Gert says, "Ha"

[Helvetica] Arvid says (to Cat), "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "but -- I guess we didn't check the tombs again to see what bodies were there"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "...?!?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "like, possibly he just went back after we left"

[Helvetica] Hans asks (of GM), "Didn't we bring him Buffy's body, though? And Franz said he never went back to the crypt?"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "oh, she did?"

GM says, "Next time you hear about Andre, he's holed up somewhere in a secret hideout in Eisen, calling himself 'The Storm King'."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Hee hee."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

Gert says, "Well, Drang."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yeah, we're going to have to go after him eventually."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, wait, I didn't realize that was him all along"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "What was whom all along?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "That what was him?"

[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "you did. He didn't use it. The Astronomy Maiden was just an empty automaton waiting for a brain."

[Helvetica] Arvid | Written by Portentius Reichenbach, The Storm King tells the story of the rise and fall of the original Storm King, Andronicus Valois.[1]

[Helvetica] Cat says, "aaargh"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims (at GM), "Oh!"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "(http://girlgenius.wikia.com/wiki/The_Storm_King_(opera))"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Oho."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Gah."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Man."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "it is crazy Miseri is still able to pull stuff over on us even when we're looking for it"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Not only were we looking for it, but we knew *exactly where to look*."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "and I guess Hans and Gert's wedding goes off without a hitch"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And what to look for."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And still didn't see it."

[Helvetica] GM asks (of Cat), "Without a hitch? What kind of a wedding is that?"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "with only a slight mid-ceremony pause to fight off a mechanical monster piloted by a distraught Frenchwoman"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "heehee"

GM says, "Etienne is never the same again, however. He still gets the shakes from withdrawal from his blackwood potion."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Yeah, the last scene has to be of the wedding ;-)"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "And the post-wedding fight."

Hans says, "Could have been worse."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Are there any significant references we missed, aside from Andre?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(I imagine the answer must be 'yes'.)"

GM says, "And his speech sort of devolves into an odd full-of-teeth sort of accent. 'Hyu vonts de vurmvood?'"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Oh, and what about the sleepwalking?"

Hans says, "OK, maybe that *is* worse."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I think the sleepwalking was just a red herring"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Adelheid Sessemann was homesick. Nothing more."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Like communism?"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "because Heidi was a sleepwalker"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Aha."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Hm ... We're going into notes now."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Albert des Amis was meant to be Bertrand des Amis from 'Scaramouche'. He was not originally meant to have been the spy."

[Helvetica] GM says, "It was supposed to have been Kramer who ended up selling you out to the Montaigne, out of fear."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oho"

[Helvetica] GM says, "But then it made sense that Albert would be the one, and so he was."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Ah, back when people were sneaking around in the first few sessions and we failed our perception rolls."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(Or maybe that was just me.)"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Maria Von Pinn: Von Pinn, yes; Sound-of-Music Maria, no. Actually Mary Poppins."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Ha."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Nicolette, Gabriel and Azelma. Cosette, Gavroche and Eponine, the latter two all grown up and evil."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Huh."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Arlene Renard. Name was stolen from Arsene Lupin."

[Helvetica] GM says, "But that's about all she had in common with him."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "So there were two sets of Les Mis characters?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "(sometimes a ref comes about only because I needed a name in a hurry.)"

[Helvetica] GM says, "I went to Les Mis anytime I wanted a name for a revolutionary."

[Helvetica] GM says, "And didn't already have an alternate source."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Heh."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hmm, no love for tale of two cities anywhere"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I certainly have no love for it..."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] GM says, "The Schreibers are, of course, the Von Trapp family. Mostly I used the names of the *real* Von Trapps (Agathe, Johann, Maria-Franziska, Werner, Hedwig, Johanna and Martina) but I didn't have my notes properly organised when I suddenly needed Erich's name."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "hey, was Sir Galahad working for anybody?"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "(the false name I gave the border guard was Theroigne de Mericourt, while we're doing references)"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Sir Galahad was pretty much just on a personal mission to rescue the poor oppressed nobles."

[Helvetica] GM says, "(also, I like 'Brigitta' much more than 'Hedwig', so that sister didn't get renamed.)"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Arvid | Known as la belle Ligoise, she appeared in public dressed in a riding habit, a plume in her hat, a pistol in her belt and a sword dangling at her side, exciting mobs with violent harangues.

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "awesome"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "her later life: not so awesome"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "but it was pretty shiny there briefly"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "well yeah"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Sir Galahad Locksley, of course, Sir Percy Blakeney"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Once you figure that Locksley==Blakeney, Annette Locksley becomes Annette Blakeney....."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Or Anita Blake."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "awesome"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "so not buffy, hunh"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Elisabeth Sommer totally was Buffy, though."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yay."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "geez, that's a lot of vampires"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Oh yeah, you said you switched themes for the crypt-chyx."

[Helvetica] GM says, "When I first went about thinking up the names for the people in the crypt, I was looking mainly for vampire references. Just because."

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "Serendipity Smith? Nora Alice Kelly?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "If you google 'Serendipity Smith Muse' (because, let's face it, they're all intended to wind up as the Storm King's muses) you'll find Salma Hayek in 'Dogma'."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "ha"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Man."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Nora Alice Kelly ... finding an N name was nearly impossible. For her I was pretty much grasping at straws."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "A bit of a heretic."

[Helvetica] GM says, "There's this poem (I think Limax had a bit in his disconnect? Or Allen did?) 'Oh roar a roar for Nora / Nora Alice in the night / For she has seen Aurora / Borealis burning bright'....."

[Helvetica] GM says, "I gather that it's associated with the Pogo comic strip, drawn by a fellow named Kelly."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ok, that is not one I have to feel bad about not working out"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I remember thinking I'd seen a connection of something, but can't remember what I thought was a link."

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "Oh yeah!"

[Helvetica] GM can't remember why he mixed Robin Hood up with Percy Blakeney....

[Helvetica] Hans says, "You mentioned something about her freezing to the ground while watching the stars."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Which led me to http://www.astronomytoday.com/astronomy/interview1.html"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Oh yeah. That was awesome."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "With an astronomer called 'Al Kelly' talking about that almost happening to him."

[Helvetica] GM exclaims, "Oh! The Schlegels!"

[Helvetica] GM says, "That's a case of me just wanting a name."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Oh, and that body drained of blood in the road."

[Helvetica] GM says, "They're from 'Howards End'."

[Helvetica] Arvid blinks

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, not the drained body"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Arvid), "Just something that I remembered that we weren't sure about."

[Helvetica] GM says, "The drained body was just dead weight that Pedro and Trujillo were forced to discard to better enable their escape. She was drained because, well, not that easy to do construct-making while the body is still bleeding all over the place."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Huh?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "How did she die, and why were they making a construct out of her...?"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I guess she was Bride Of mk. 1"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Wow, I totally pegged that as either Stefan or Lucille."

[Helvetica] GM says, "They'd already started making the 'bride of Frankenstein' thing when they were forced to flee Castille."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Cat), "I wouldn't have thought that Pedro would have supported that notion."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Even Victor Frankenstein started making the bride of the monster before he decided it was Wrong."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "apparently Pedro is -- heh"

[Helvetica] GM says, "'Frankenstein' was my source for the name Franz Bergen. Association, berg and stein"

[Helvetica] GM says, "So of course he was the one Trujillo went to to have his bride made."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Oh, and Mount Schaedelbrecher."

[Helvetica] GM asks, "I went to babelfish for that one. Ever hear Jeremy Coulton's 'Skullcrusher Mountain'?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "(Jonathan)"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I don't even remember Schadelbrecher..."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Right"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/2124/lyrics_3849.php"

[Helvetica] GM says, "I think that's all the major stuff and some of the minor stuff."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "That's a lot of stuff."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Woo"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "awesome"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "well, this was pretty spectacular"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Where in the story was Mount Schaedelbrecher?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I see the whole thing has taken us about 10 months, which is pretty good"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Also, this has been an excellent campaign."

[Helvetica] GM says (to Gert), "it's the mountain on the side of which Geneva is located."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "yes. yes it has"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Aha."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "19 sessions, so I guess we averaged like every other week"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Ha."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "That's pretty good."

[Helvetica] Cat says (to Mis), "many thanks for this; it was awesome and I am kind of sad that it is over."

[Helvetica] GM says (to Cat), "there's always Cat and the Baron."

[Helvetica] Arvid exclaims, "detectives!"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yeah, huge thanks."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Yeah, it was a blast. The number of plot hooks was a bit overwhelming at times, but that's much better than having to search for the hook. There was always *something* to do."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Once in a great while, that something was 'sleep'."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ha"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha, right"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "How many days of game time did it cover, roughly?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Thanks, I'm afraid I went a bit overboard, stuffing things in. I just let one association carry me to the next."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "it would be funny to go over the sessions and work out -- yeah"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "and see how much sleep we actually got"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Maybe a month?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I feel like there were a couple places where "some time passed" but mostly it was just rushing from one thing to another"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "We did reach a point where we needed to pursue the plot threads we had, because if we stood still, more would find us."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Stefan and his orchids, that was something I actually came up with for #colonial, and was sorry that it never got explored."

[Helvetica] Cat wonders how much time can decently elapse before lobbying for a sequel

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Arvid), "There were several journeys that took multiple days."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "yeah, true"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Cat), "It was awesome, but I think I am ready for a break first."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "though we didn't get much sleep during them"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Arvid), "True."

[Helvetica] Cat says (to Hans), "oh, yes, certainly"

[Helvetica] GM says, "(if you look at the #colonial transcripts, there's a bit near the end where Dr Strange tries to convince Roger's character to go investigate these orchids for him.)"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to GM), "Ha."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "If we go by past campaigns, there is often perhaps a break of about a year between the original and its sequels?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Oh yeah, was Rosanna Scardanelli's name a ref?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Oh yeah. The Rosanna part came about because I was thinking 'Roxana'."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Instead of Mox?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Ah, wife of Alexander the Great?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "The Scardanelli part came from some reading about the whole chess-playing automaton thing. There's apparently a book somewhere about the the original chess-playing automaton, and it gives the dwarf in the controls the name 'Scardanelli'."

[Helvetica] GM says (to Hans), "yeah, instead of Mox-. I needed an R."

[Helvetica] GM says, "And a) it's a perfectly good name, and b) it was convenient."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Indeed."

[Helvetica] GM says, "This probably doesn't count as a ref, but the whole waterfall scheme was stolen from a Victoria Holt gothic romance."

Eolo has disconnected.

[Helvetica] GM says, "And if I remembered what the villain's name was, I would have applied it to Gabriel."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Anyway! Thanks for playing! It's been great having you guys."

[Helvetica] inky says, "hooray"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "yay"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "Huzzah!"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Also, I am spending 8XP on 'not getting hit so much'."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Oh yeah, so how many DD did everyone else have at the end?"

[Helvetica] inky says, "I always think 7th sea PCs are invincible until they run into NPCs built on comparable numbers of points"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to inky), "Heh, yeah."

[Helvetica] maga says (to Hans), "three"

[Helvetica] Gert says (to Hans), "I am always very bad about keeping track of drama dice."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I think this is a bad habit I picked up from GMing."

[Helvetica] (from GM) Sister Mary-Rose Krantz and Sister Mary-Gilda Stern show up to deliver a singing telegram, and promptly get flattened by a big "THE END" sign.
