PerrySimm says, "Logging"

GM exclaims, "Right!"

GM cues theme music.

[Helvetica] Arvid reads transcript to remember where we left off

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, right, with Justine and Galahad"

GM says, "When last we left our heroes, Cat, Arvid and Hans had caught Justine Locksley in a private tete-a-tete with one of the revolutionary lawyers from Bois-Franc. He ran off, Justine explained he was her brother, and then her husband showed up with a crayfish."

(From GM) Sir Galahad says, "So, spread out the picnic, then, I'm well-nigh starved."

You mute #games/roleplaying/D&D temporarily.

(From GM) Sir Galahad lets his crayfish go into the water.

[Helvetica] Gert back

GM says (to Gert), "two minutes before all this...."

GM says (to Gert), "Taking care of Klara Sessemann's horse, Incitatus, who has been in a rather fussy mood today ... when you happen to overhear a couple of people on the other side of the stable wall."

GM says (to Gert), "(voice 1) : ...of course I didn't tell her anything. Anyway, we were interrupted."

Gert brush brush *ears perk up*

[Crows-Nest] Gunther says, "s/Gert/horse/"

GM says (to Gert), "(voice 2 - Sir Galahad) : Left them at the waterfall, then? Good, I'm heading that way. Got a crayfish to release. You can hide out in the boathouse.""

Roger arrives, looking for booty.

GM says (to Gert), "(voice 1) : Merci. I'll give you a full update later."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I'm confused already"

GM says (to Gert), "Footsteps crunch off in opposite directions."

Gert. o O (Oh, man, I haven't cleaned out the boathouse in ages.)

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Crows-Nest] Cat says, "I suppose we were meant to chase the brother rather than grilling Justine"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "#OOC Galahad and Mr. Bois-Franc are in cahoots"

GM exclaims, "Back in the present!"

GM says, "Sir Galahad takes charge of the picnic basket and happily begins setting up the picnic."

[Helvetica] Gert says (to GM), "Oh, right--I'm going ahead and upping Wits to 2."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Though characterization will remain fairly constant ;-)"

Arvid rescues a wine bottle from Sir Galahad's clutches.

[Helvetica] GM says, "okay."

(From GM) Sir Galahad says, "I say, someone here has a jolly good taste in wine."

Gert slips out of the stables after a half-minute and heads towards to boathouse, hoping to catch a glimpse of voice 1.

Cat says, "So, Justine, earlier your darling husband was telling me all *sorts* of exciting things about revolutionary politics in Montaigne."

GM says (to Gert), "the boathouse contains a few small rowboats and things that students can take out onto the lake. Also, Sir Galahad's sailboat, the Dulcibella. There does not appear to be anyone here."

(From GM) Sir Galahad says, "I was? Was it that business about the badgers?"

(From GM) Justine says, "Oh, politics are such a bore, I find. Most of it is useless gossip, anyway."

Cat asks, "But it's so charming when married couples share interests, don't you think?"

Gert straightens up a bit, and in the process, creates a nice little niche where someone might be able to sleep that just happens to be next to a small gap in the planks in the outside wall.

Cat says, "And what is this 'useless' gossip that you mention? I would be very interested in it, if only as an unprecedented, freakish oddity."

(From GM) Sir Galahad says, "Oh, well, politics can be important. Dreadfully so. During that war with Castille, you know, Castillian backstitch embroidery fell dreadfully out of fashion, which was a bit of a shame. Lovely stuff, backstitch.

Gert suddenly remembers that Cat is not yet on the official guest list, and rushes back to her room to add her name.

Cat says, "Didn't know you embroidered, Gally."

(From GM) Sir Galahad says, "I expect now that the shade of sky-blue favoured by the Empereur will be very much in vogue, at least with -- you know, people who matter."

(From GM) Sir Galahad says, "Oh, I leave the embroidering to people who have the time. I'm too busy wearing the stuff."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I wonder how much Resolve is needed to steer this twit onto serious topics"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "or, failing that, how much is required not to stab him with a sausage fork"

[Helvetica] GM says, "hee"

[Helvetica] GM says, "This might be the first ever contested Resolve+Fashion roll."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ha ha"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Since Galahad's topic of choice is Fashion."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "of course I didn't *take* Fashion, as it was clearly useless"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "damn my eyes"

[Helvetica] GM says, "You should have 1 rank in it, from Courtier."

[7thsea] Cat rolls 5k4: 5 8 9 6 2 | 28

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hey, very fashionable"

[Helvetica] Gert says (to GM), "Potentially it could be politics+resolve vs. fashion+resolve (in the future)."

[7thsea] GM rolls 6k3: 5 4 2 2 5 8 | 18

GM says (to Cat), "The conversation goes on, but you eventually exhaust his fount of fashion trivia -- or at least talk him into a corner where he can't bring up anything else without sounding like he's changing the subject."

Cat says, "What I hear is that in Montaigne, the current styles run to the practical. Take these breeches, for instance - just a simple peasant cross-stich, but the minimalist aesthetic is combined with a simply stunning comprehension of line - incredible how these bourgeoisie instinctively comprehend basic forms, much as the crude tattoos of the heathen savage..."

(From GM) Sir Galahad says, "Er, right ... but really, it is such a mess...."

Cat says, "Oh, do shut up and let Justine talk, won't you, Gally? We've only just met and I'm so keen to get to know her."

(From GM) Justine says, "Oh, but Galahad has already said it all."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "I dunno, do we actually have anything we want to get from these guys?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "it seems like they have both acknowledged knowing wosshisface"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Galahad's take on Montaigne"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "And his position vis a vis Bois-Franc"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "to try to work out if he's sympathetic to the revolution?"

Cat says, "Well, certainly he has, but you see, I'm not very quick - I thought we were having a conversation about revolutionaries, but all he seemed to talk about were pretty dresses"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Yeah, and generally suss out the Bois-Franc connection."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Since it seems they aren't going to take the jail-break lying down."

Cat says, "now doubtless he has in fact been speaking in deep, complex poetic metaphors that went right over my silly head"

(From GM) Sir Galahad says, "Well, pretty dresses are safe, eh? This revolutionary nastiness is all over there, and really, why would anyone want to dirty his hands in that?"

Cat asks, "Why indeed?"

(From GM) Sir Galahad says, "Oh, I'm quite happy sitting on my pampered Avalon arse while they expend themselves on blood and rhetoric over on the other side of the Schaedelbrecher."

Hans finishes a piece of bread in his mouth and licks the jam off of his fingers. "Some times you have to get your hands dirty to do what you want to do."

Cat asks, "Besides, given the current situation and the risk to the children, it would be quite improper for staff to cultivate revolutionary friends, non?"

(From GM) Justine says, "I think what I'd like to do is retire for the night."

[Crows-Nest] Hans says, "('finishes ... in his mouth'? Whoops, I think I lost control of that sentence in the middle there.)"

[Crows-Nest] Gert says, "Better than finishing the bread in your ears."

[Crows-Nest] Cat says, "you have struggled long and mightily, bread, but now I will finish you"

Arvid yawns himself

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I have completely forgotten what time of day it was supposed to be."

Arvid says, "all this dealing with dangers menacing the school is tiring work"

[Helvetica] GM asks, "What's Gert up to, once she's updated the guest list?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I guess we finished today's classes, which would make it evening."

Gert waits until nightfall and then hauls a bucket to the lake to fill it, happening to shine the lantern in the crack in the wall on her way by.

Cat stretches. "Good idea. I still have to reschedule my appointment with the Baron; we're going to have *such* a nice chat..."

Gert. o O (If I can see that white canoe, it'll mean nobody's blocking the crack.)

Hans finishes anything in the basket that no one else has eaten.

GM says (to Gert), "you see no white canoe."

Arvid picks up the picnic basket and heads back kitchen-wards

Gert fills the bucket and returns to water her pansies (that seem to thrive on lake water), then hurries off to find Hans.

GM says, "Justine and Galahad part ways as you leave the woods: Justine to go back to her room, and Galahad to 'check on his boat'."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Is that like seeing a man about a horse?"

[Crows-Nest] Gert asks, "Oh, is that what they're calling it nowadays?"

GM says, "And y'all run into each other near the kitchens."

Arvid says, "you missed a fine picnic, Gert"

Arvid says, "pity about the conversation"

Hans exclaims, "Gert! Save me!"

Hans exclaims, "They've been talking fashion! ANd politics!"

Gert asks, "Oh, that reminds me--rounded lace or squared?"

Arvid says, "more to the point, we saw one of those damn lawyers from Bois-Franc there"

Hans exclaims, "Agh!"

Arvid says, "oh don't you start too"

Gert grins evilly.

[Crows-Nest] Hans says, "Also, I am laughing out loud."

Arvid says, "apparently he's Justine's brother, and he came slinking around the waterfall to meet her"

Gert says, "So, there's a stranger hiding out in the boat house."

Gert says, "Who seems to know Sir Galahad."

Arvid says, "interesting"

Hans asks, "The same one, perhaps?"

Arvid says, "could be"

[Crows-Nest] GM says, "which means someone gets a drama die. I seem to have forgotten to do that last session, so let's give one to everybody."

[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "woo"

[Crows-Nest] Gert says, "Yay"

[Crows-Nest] Hans says, "Yay."

[Crows-Nest] Cat says, "score"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hmm, I wonder what the political situation is here"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "presumably Joseph can't be arrested just for hanging out"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "but if we catch him doing something incriminating, that's a different story"

Arvid says, "I suppose we should perhaps drop in on the Pervenches this evening and see how they're doing"

Gert frowns.

[Helvetica] Cat says, "no, but it's relevant information for whoever's in charge of making sure children don't get abducted"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "on the other hand, if they all get abducted I don't have to teach class tomorrow"

Gert asks, "You said Lucia is actually a fate witch? I don't suppose she could tell us who the guy is connected to?"

Gert says, "Or we could just stake out the boathouse."

Gert says, "Or confront him."

Cat says, "I'm not sure how many favours we can extract from her before the worm turns."

Gert says, "But then we don't know where he'll be after that, and I sort of like knowing."

Hans says, "I wonder if Edmond would like to learn to handle a sword."

Arvid says, "he seemed like a scrappy lad"

[Crows-Nest] GM says, "No. of favours available before the worm turns = 2. No. of favours extracted so far = 3."

[Crows-Nest] Arvid says, "hee hee"

Cat says (to Hans), "swords swords swords. by the time he's competent enough to defend himself, this whole thing will have blown over"

Hans asks (of Cat), "What, you think that in a week or two, there will be a great Happily Ever After?"

Gert says, "If he *looked* like he could defend himself, that'd give him more of an edge than he has now, at least."

Arvid says, "well, you can also teach him how to discuss square-edged lace"

Arvid and the others are walking towards where the Pervenches are staying as they talk

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "(unless someone doesn't want to)"

Arvid says, "ah, here we are"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Fine with me."

Arvid knocks on the door.

GM says, "The Pervenches are staying at the Baron's castle."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "These are... right."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "The kids are local, the castle's a hike, though."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, well, in that case, forget that"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "he's not going to be sneaking into a castle"

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "wanna bet?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "We can check on the dorms, though."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "what do you think he is, a PC?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "The students are local. Presumably, Edmond's with his parents still."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Whose room was broken into?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "The secret society dude."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I think it makes more sense to shadow the intruder than guess where he's going to turn up"

Arvid exclaims, "here we are at the dormitories, I mean!"

Hans asks, "Yes. What else would you have meant?"

Arvid says, "I can't imagine"

GM asks (of Arvid), "Girls or boys?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Ha ha ha"

Arvid says, "I don't know what you're implying"

Arvid says, "Hans and I will check the boys' rooms and Gert and Cat the girls"

Arvid says, "though naturally my virtue would be a shining shield whichever dormitory I chose to enter"

GM says, "Okay. Here is a list of students Out Of Bed."

[Helvetica] (from Arvid) GM says "Actually, let me just give you the in-bed list, it's shorter"

GM says, "Boys: Andre-Nicolas Valois and Erich Schreiber."

GM says, "Girls: Adelheid Sessemann and Franziska Shreiber"

Cat says, "why are *we* out of bed, again? I got more sleep in the customs-wall riots"

[Helvetica] Hans tries to remember how closely that matches the group laughing after class.

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "it was andre and erich and frnziska, I think"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "plus maybe a guy or two more at class but I'm not sure they were all together"

Cat says, "Young lady, that is *not* how you hide an improper novel! The pillowcase? Please. Here, let me show you."

[Helvetica] GM says, "And Pierre. But Pierre is safely where he should be."

Hans says, "I seem to recall that Miss Schreiber had some information earlier that rather amused her brother and Andre."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "and adelheid is out raising heck to make sure we have another NPC to worry about who hasn't done anything yet"

Arvid says, "oh? interesting"

Arvid says, "well, it couldn't have been about the waterfall again, at least"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Hee."

Hans asks, "So, now that we know they're missing, have we any notion where they might have gone?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Does the school have proper rules about not wandering around the countryside in the middle of the night?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Of course."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Wait, these are students who are roaming the halls, or who are Not In Their Beds?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Not in dorms at all."

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "Aha!"

[Helvetica] GM says, "So, unless In Bathroom, presumed to be Wandering Halls And/Or Grounds."

Hans says, "As it is our duty as their guardians to ensure their well-being."

Hans says, "If not their safety."

Arvid says, "if they make me have any more sleepless nights I won't be guaranteeing their safety, I'll tell you that much"

Gert and Cat meet up with Hans and Arvid after scanning their dorm. "Nothing obvious amiss, but Adelheid and Franziska are Out."

Hans says, "We might want to check on Master Trujillo."

Hans says, "In case it is *his* well-being which is in danger."

Gert asks, "Who?"

Arvid says, "as are Andre and Erich"

Gert frowns.

Arvid says, "an excellent point -- another one who passed through Montaigne recently"

Arvid asks, "and did I tell you about the spiders?"

Gunther disappears through an invisible gap in the MUD. You think you may have heard the sounds of chatting before the gap closed again.

Cat says, "Ugh. You killjoys just want to break up young love."

Gert thwaps Cat. "They're brother and sister!"

Arvid says, "you've been reading too many of those improper novels"

Cat exclaims (at Gert), "Not if they go out the other way around!"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Seriously, who is Trujillo?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "the guy who we found at the waterfall"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "The future husband of the girls from episode one."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Oh, right."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Also, a member of the secret society I've suddenly forgotten which Arvid is in."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Trujillo and whom?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Invisible College."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "(as am I)"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "Gert is -- yeah"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hmm"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I am reviewing the NPC list and forgetting what Kramer's deal is"

[Crows-Nest] GM says, "I totally had an NPC set up who had a thing for improper novels. Katrina Mueller. But then I figured there wasn't any sense bringing her in."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "it says he was also spirited here by the IC"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Also also, I suspect that Elena might be responsible for the jar of spiders."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, I see, Kramer arrived pre-game"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks (of Hans), "is that how a fate witch says she likes you?"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Arvid), "Could be; I've never dated one."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "and now it's TOO LATE"

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "are we just abandoning Boathouse Guy to his own devices?"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks (of Gert), "anyway, maybe add Agustin Trujillo and manservant Pedro to the NPC list?"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "Yeah, just think of all the manipulation and paranoia I've missed out on!"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "well, when we go to look for him he'll be dead with a boathook in his back and we'll have to run around looking for that"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "so I don't see why we should bother yet"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "There, added."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Perhaps we'll get to him just before he dies and hear his cryptic last words."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "awesome"

Arvid rubs his chin thoughtfully

Arvid says, "well, Andre likes to go to the workshop"

Arvid says, "but it seems a little late for that, unless it's a secret project"

Gert says, "Oh, good point."

Arvid says, "but I don't know much about Franziska's interests"

Gert says, "Let's check there, then the boathouse, then the waterfall, since that's where the students always seem to head to at night."

Hans says, "Perhaps he is building his brain."

Cat sighs and goes to scope out the traditional escape routes and makeout corners, just to eliminate that theory

Arvid says, "oh yes, I forgot you said he had that argument"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hmm"

Hans says, "Although that had something to do with glass jars, I think, so he might have gone to the kitchens instead."

Hans says, "Since it may well involve pickling."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "you know, thinking about this more, perhaps Franziska was the one who put the spiders there"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "For what reason?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Crush on Andre?"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "of course, makeout-corner technology must have advanced immeasurably beyond its primitive state in my day, given that the place is actually co-ed now"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee hee"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "the dummy with the sewn-on rogueish hat has been stashed away"

[Helvetica] GM says (to Cat), "or deteriorated, since the boys are ever so much closer to home now."

[Helvetica] Arvid says (to Hans), "well, I get the impression Trujillo is kind of a jerk in general"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "so I can imagine him being an unpopular teacher"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims (at Arvid), "I thought professor what's-his-name ran away with that!"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Wait, Trujillo is now a teacher?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(The dummy.)"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "Man, it's like you weren't even *here* last week."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ha"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I read the transcript but admit to being fairly confused by it all."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "yeah, Andre got into an argument with Trujillo over, uh, whether you could make an articial brain or something"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Um, in character. Yeah, that's it."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "also there was wossherface hitting on Hans, I hope you noted that"

[Helvetica] GM asks, "Okay. So, people are headed for the workshop, except for Cat who's headed for make-out spots?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks (of Gert), "And by this, you justify +1 Wits?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "Mme Guillot"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "the first step is knowing you know nothing"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to GM), "Sure. I still think we should check on Agustin if this doesn't pan out, though."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "only then can true enlightenment come"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "yeah, that seems like a good setup"

[Helvetica] Gert says (to Hans), "I don't have to be extremely clever, darling. I just have to be more clever than *you*."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "Curses."

GM says, "There are lights and noises in the workshop. Also voices."

Gert says (to Arvid), "Hey, good call."

Gert moves closer to listen.

Hans asks, "Shall we listen before we enter?"

GM exclaims, "Antoinette Guillot: Dammit, where's the glue? You had it last!"

Gert gives a Hans an annoyed "Of course!" look.

GM exclaims, "Andre-Nicolas: You stay on YOUR side of the workshop!"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "wait, what the heck"

Hans raises an eyebrow. . o O ( Antoinette? )

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "Also, Antoinette is a student now."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "how old are these people again? I am imagining Andre as like 16 and Guillot as like 26 or 28, is that right?"

Gert. o O (Whoops, forgot to check on her.)

[Helvetica] GM says, "only for Hans's class, though."

[Helvetica] GM says (to Arvid), "right."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "she is a student in the school of looooove"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Where's she staying? Not in the dorms, I guess?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Not in dorms, no."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Arvid), "No, no. Heavy weapons."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Guest room."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I guess she was probably a prodigy of some kind wrt the guillotine invention"

GM says, "muffled explosion."

Arvid says, "I think that's our cue"

GM says, "Antoinette Guillot: I *meant* to do that."

[Helvetica] Cat says (to Hans), "where you and Gert are concerned, love is definitely a heavy weapon"

Arvid goes in, unless anybody stops him

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "siege-warfare scale, I'm thinking"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, ""You've Grappled My Heart (With the Panzerhand of Love)""

Gert follows, looming-esqe.

Arvid asks, "well well well, what have we here?"

Gert frowns and looks at what they're working on.

GM says (to Arvid), "the workshop looks like a gear factory exploded. On one side is Antoinette Guillot, surrounded by pulleys and rods and cables and wires and and and .... on the other side is Andre-Nicolas Valois, with a glassblower's tube, a few thousand clockwork gears and and and...."

Hans exclaims, "Huh!"

GM exclaims, "both of them together: ACK! GET OUT!!"

Cat darts from shadow to shadow, unseen and silent, one with the night...

Hans says (quietly, to Gert), "Is this that 'young love' you were talking about earlier?"

Gert is careful to not step on anything, but remains in place.

Arvid says, "the pure love of a man for his mechanisms"

Gert (sotto vocce) "That was Cat!"

Cat says, "(oh, who am I trying to fool? no amount of sneaking is going to produce an appointment with a boy at the other end)"

GM says (to Cat), "Out in the main hall is a figure in a white nightgown, struggling with the bar on the door."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I thought you both were."

(From GM) Antoinette Guillot screams, "It's not ready! You'll have to wait to tomorrow!"

Hans asks, "It is a surprise of some kind?"

Cat hunkers down and watches from cover

Gert asks, "What... what *is* it?"

Hans asks (of Andrew), "Ah, is this for the pickles you were talking about?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Er, Andre."

GM says, "Andre and Antoinette just want to get you out of the workshop. "Nothing! Get out, now!""

(From GM) Andre says, "Pickles? What pickles? Oh, ah, those pickles. Yes. Could you leave me alone for a bit?"

GM says (to Cat), "the figure gets the door open. Then stands there for the longest time."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Ha ha."

Gert says, "You can explain to us here, or you can explain in the hall."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "wait, what pickles?"

Hans says (to Gert), "Nein, don't worry. He is just taking my advice."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Ha ha."

(From GM) Andre says, "It's, um, a project for Professor Trujillo."

Hans says (to Gert), "To make a brain with glasses on it."

Hans asks, "And I assume that Miss Guillot is assisting him?"

Gert looks puzzled. "You told him he could stay up past curfew and use the workshop?"

GM says (to Cat), "then the figure turns around and wanders towards you, leaving the door wide open behind her."

Hans says (to Gert), "Well, no. But"

Hans says, "Well."

Hans says, "Perhaps that is a bit against the rules."

Hans says, "A bit."

Arvid says, "it seems as though we can leave the consequences for tomorrow"

Hans asks, "Oh, does either of you know where Schreiber or Miss Schreiber is?"

Arvid says, "for one thing, if we make them stop now, somebody else will have to clean up the workshop"

[Helvetica] Cat says (to GM), "I'm guessing I don't recognise the students or know them all by name yet"

GM says (to Hans), "they shrug, confused. Andre hasn't seen either of them since dinner."

[Helvetica] GM says (to Cat), "right."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "OOC, I am all in favor of letting them both finish their projects because I would like to see them completed."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "IC, I am all in favor of letting them complete their projects because I advised Andre to go ahead and build his brain to prove that he could."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "hmm. follow the girl, or wait and see what comes through the door?"

Hans says, "Well, let us leave them to their studies."

Arvid says (to Gert, Hans), "at least we know where Andre is now"

Gert says, "We'll leave you to it, then, but you will both report to... Arvid, here, the *first thing* in the morning and tell him why you were here after curfew."

Arvid says, "we will take this up again at a later date."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "Gert sure is bossy"

Cat waits and watches the door.

Hans asks (of Arvid), "Formally speaking, is first thing in the morning not the same date?"

Hans asks, "Or have I lost count again?"

Arvid yawns

Arvid says, "see, here I am, missing sleep again"

Hans wanders outside while asking.

Arvid follows Hans

Gert. o O (*I* need to sleep in. Been up way too late these last few nights.)

GM says (to Cat), "the girl wanders right past you, all unaware. Through the door, you can see down to the lake ... and a brief glimmer of light in the boathouse."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I think we got a few days of rest after the vampire affair."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "But I guess poor Gert missed them too."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "dammit I need minions"

Arvid asks, "let's see, where were we going next? the boathouse? or to check on professor trujillo?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ha"

Gert says, "Trujillo's closer, I suppose."

Hans says, "I agree."

Gert tromp tromp tromp.

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I need a minion to follow the girl and another to keep an eye on the door and another to run and fetch me a snack and a cup of coffee while I go down to the boathouse"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "conveniently, that is three minions"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

[Helvetica] GM says, "hee"

GM says, "Trujillo's room. Door, closed. Lights, out."

Hans asks, "Window?"

Gert says, "Or we could knock."

GM says, "Window: not visible from corridor."

Hans says, "I meant to see if it is open."

Arvid says, "my recollection is the window is outside (and we're on an upper floor)"

Hans says, "We should not wake him if we do not need to."

Cat doesn't want to leave the opened door unattended, but doesn't really want to close it either, and therefore finds a better hiding-place and waits

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I figured we could have looked at it on the way in, but perhaps it was out of our way."

[Helvetica] GM says, "It was."

Arvid says, "there was ivy on the walls outside, but it's not as though I'd be climbing it, especially this time of night"

Gert says, "Arvid's room is on this side of the hall; we can stick our heads out his window and see if this window is open."

GM says (to Cat), "you wait. and wait."

Hans exclaims, "Good idea!"

Gert does so, tsking at the state of Arvid's room as she passes through.

Hans says, "And someone could listen at the door to hear if anyone is inside sneaking around with a jar of botflies."

Cat gets bored, goes to shut the doors and find Gert & co

Cat is unable to lift the bloody bar

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Cat's at the girls' dorm?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Where we were going when we split up?"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "doors to the main hall"

GM says, "Looking out from Arvid's window: Erich Schreiber pacing about down on the ground."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks (of Cat), "wait, you're not following the girl to the boathouse or something?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "The girl went back inside."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, I see, it was an exterior door"

[Helvetica] Cat says (to Arvid), "she went back inside, thus making me think she opened, or was compelled to open, the door for someone else to enter"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Are the dorms free-standing or wings off the main building?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Wings."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "so I figured the someone-else-entering was the most important bit"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Aha."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I had been envisioning wings."

Gert asks (of Erich), "What are *you* doing out so late?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "So, if Erich is pacing around under the windows, then perhaps his sister has climbed up into one."

GM says, "Erich jumps, startled, then runs off."

Gert exclaims, "Come back here!"

Gert curses and sees if she can climb down the wall.

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Guestimating the TN, I guess."

Cat engages in continued heroic struggle with the bar, fails miserably

[Helvetica] GM asks, "25?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "It's only the second story. You're probably good at falling."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And it's likely faster as well."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "you fell for him, didn't you?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Ha."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And if you can manage *that*..."

GM says (to Cat), "you are (alas) uninterrupted."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Climbing + Finesse? Brawn?"

[Helvetica] GM says (to Gert), "oh, right. Finesse."

Cat says, "well, shit"

Cat leaves the door open and goes in search of someone stronger

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Oh, heck."

Gert calls to Arvid and Hans. "I'm following Erich!"

Gert climbs out the window, looking for footholds and ivy.

[7thsea] Gert rolls 4k3: 7 5 7 6 | 20

Hans asks, "Where is Erich?"

Arvid says, "he was down there, then ran off into the darkness"

Gert says, "Outsiiiiiiiiiiiiiii"

[Helvetica] Hans asks (of Arvid), "Did you listen at the door?"

Gert *thud*

Gert says, "de."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "um, ok, let's say I did"

Hans runs into Arvid's room just in time to see Gert's feet tumble out of the window.

Hans exclaims, "Wait there! I'm coming!"

Hans climbs after her.

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "or, uh, maybe you did and I was inside"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I am a little lost"

Arvid goes back out into the corridor to see what comes of all this.

[7thsea] Hans rolls 4k3: 2 4 8 4 | 16

GM says, "whump"

Hans tumbles down after Gert, landing on top of her.

Hans asks, "Which way did he go?"

GM says, "Lucky he's small."

Gert says, "Not now, darling."

Gert gets up and tries to catch her breath.

Gert exclaims, "That way!"

Gert charge

[Helvetica] GM tosses drama dice to the two falling wonders.

Hans runs.

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "woo!"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yay."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "sprint+brawn? Resolve?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "+brawn."

[7thsea] Gert rolls 5k4: 2 7 5 9 9 | 30

[7thsea] Hans rolls 5k4: 5 2 7 8 3 | 23

[7thsea] GM rolls 3k2: 7 3 6 | 13

GM says, "You catch up with Erich pretty easilier, in spite of his headstart."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "he probably stayed behind a minute to goggle"

Gert *tackle*

Hans exclaims (at Erich), "What are you doing out here at this time of night!"

Cat scampers randomly around the school looking for people

GM says (to Cat), "Well, 'someone stronger' implies one of the teachers ... so I guess you'll be finding Arvid in the corridor of the teachers' rooms now-ish."

GM says (to Cat), "(also since no-one else other than the two mad inventors in the workshop appears to be up.)"

[Helvetica] Hans asks (of Cat), "What are the odds that you would actually notice two people shouting and then falling out of a window, racing across the courtyard, and then tackling and shouting at a student?"

(From GM) Erich says, "uh, berry-picking?"

Cat exclaims, "Professor! One of the girls opened the door to the main hall in some kind of trance!"

Hans smugly says, "Then were is your basket, huh?"

Cat says, "I don't know if she just wanted to see the moon or if she was letting something in. But I think we should really close it."

Gert asks, "And where's your sister?"

Arvid asks, "a trance, eh?"

Arvid asks, "but you didn't see anyone else come in?"

Arvid is walking with Cat to the door as he talks

[Helvetica] Cat asks, "what's Hans going to do once the students start taking baskets everywhere with them?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Make them carry things for him."

(From GM) Erich says, "I have lots of sisters. Agathe's married, and Brigitta's probably reading in bed at home, and..."

Hans asks, "And?"

Cat says, "No, but you can see the boathouse from the door - maybe she was signalling someone"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ha ha Brigitta."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "?"

GM says, "Erich lists off four of his sisters, not mentioning Franziska at all."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Just another name from the Sound of Music."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "aha"

Hans asks, "Ah. So you and Miss Franziska are not so related after all, then?"

Arvid says, "hmm, perhaps we should have tracked down the person in the boathouse after all"

Arvid says, "well, here's the door"

Arvid says, "perhaps if the two of us work at it, we can get it shut"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "So the trance girl was able to manage it single-handedly, but Cat can't?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "As declared by Cat, but yes."

(From GM) Erich says, "Franziska? Oh, Franziska! Ah, isn't she here? I thought you meant my sisters who aren't here, at the school. Because of course if they're in school you'd know where they are. Right?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "in a trance you can have super-strength"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "brawn 1 versus the iron grip of the zombie"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I have brawn 1 also, in fact"

Hans furrows his brow at Erich.

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "but together we can sort of have brawn 2"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "or brawn 1.5 or something"

(From GM) Erich grins hopefully.

Cat says, "nnnngh *clunk*"

Gert says, "Where. Is. Franziska."

Arvid says, "right, there we go"

Arvid asks, "so which student was it?"

(From GM) Erich says, "Isn't she in bed, in the girls' dorm?"

Cat says, "Um, I got a really good look at her face..."

Gert says, "You are totally lying."

GM says (to Arvid), "From Cat's description, it's probably Adelheid Sessemann."

Hans says, "If you do not respect the faculty and staff of this school enough to give us a straight answer..."

Arvid says, "hmm, that sounds like Adelheid Sessemann"

Arvid says, "I wonder what she was up to"

Cat says, "and where she is now"

Arvid . o O ( you hear stories about vampires having hypnotic thralls, but .. )

Cat says, "there's someone sneaking around out there, I'm sure of it"

Arvid says, "well, go and see if she's back in bed"

Arvid says, "then perhaps we should head to the boathouse"

Cat trots off to the girls' dorms

Hans says, "I suppose we will simply have to inform your parents of this incident and allow them to decide whether or not you should continue to attend this school."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Can I try an Intimidation to get him to tell us what he's up to?"

GM says, "Erich hangs his head. But he's not going to rat out his sister."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(I'm *assuming* he'd rather be here with Andre and Pierre than back doing whatever he's doing at home.)"

Cat says, "now, there are easily half a dozen ways into this school besides the front gate"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(Also, I would much prefer him to admit that he can't tell us than to lie to us.)"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(I meaning Hans, that is, not me.)"

Cat says, "unless you're an army marching ten abreast"

GM says (to Cat), "Adelheid Sessemann is safely in bed, by the way. Sleeping."

Gert asks, "Well, what were *you* doing out and about, then?"

Cat says, "hmm"

Cat rifles quietly through Adelheid's things for Clues

Hans asks, "And should someone be watching the windows to ensure that no one is hurt falling out of them?"

Hans says, "It is quite a fall."

[Helvetica] GM says, "Well, technically he hasn't lied. He's *asked* if Franziska isn't in bed."

Hans says, "At least, it looks to be one, if there is no one waiting to break your fall."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "s/lie to us/insult our intelligence, as it is/"

(From GM) Erich says, "um, well, I was .... I can't really say, sir.

Gert asks, "Does someone need to be there to stand watch?"

Hans says, "I see."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "it seems like you guys might have better luck with him getting him to confirm statement about what is going on rather than asking him to admit things"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "If I had any guesses, that'd be a great tactic."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I tried to ask him if someone should be watching the windows, and nudged him that we didn't want F to get hurt."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "But that didn't go anywhere."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Or is that not the sort of thing you mean?"

GM says (to Cat), "Well, several very sentimental letters from her grandfather, with details about what's going on at home. How the goats are doing. And so on and on and on."

Cat gives up in disgust

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "yeah, I just meant more explicitly -- hmm"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "#spot-the-ref Hmm. Heidi?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "actually, why not just go back to under the window and wait to see if she shows up"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "she shouldn't be more than a few minutes, unless the noise scared her away"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "That was going to be my next tactic."

Cat says, "not a racy postcard or a pack of cigars to her name. what an unfortunate child"

Ghogg arrives, looking for booty.

[Helvetica] Gert says, "But let's see what he says."

Cat says (to Arvid), "all right, let's head to that boathouse"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yeah. I guess all three of us should wait."

Hans says, "Perhaps all three of us should go wait by the building."

Hans says, "Where we can talk about what may or may not be going on."

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "Hey, I'm right!"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Of course, if Franziska has gotten into one of the rooms ... she could now unlock the door and escape via the corridor."

Cat says, "um, now that the main door's shut I suppose we'll have to take the Lover's Drainpipe exit"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Heidi -> Adelheid; Clara Sesemann -> Sesseman"

Hans says, "And perhaps while we are there, someone else might come by who *can* say."

[Helvetica] GM exclaims (at Gert), "you get a cookie!"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "nom nom nom"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "man, this game"

Arvid sighs

Arvid says, "every time I try to get out, they just pull me back in"

GM says (to Arvid&Cat), "or the kitchen side exit. To which all the teachers (including Arvid) have a key."

Cat says, "boooooring"

Arvid says, "but much easier on my aged frame"

Arvid goes out the kitchen door (locking it behind them) and heads for the boathouse

Cat follows, grumbling

GM asks, "Well, Erich clams up. Are you doing anything with him?"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Taking him over to where he was pacing and waiting to see if Fran shows up?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "She doesn't."

Gert returns with Erich to the spot he was waiting, and scans the building for open windows.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "No open windows on that side of the building either, I suppose."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Timing."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "tomorrow morning there is going to be such a line of students outside our doors"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Well ... Trujillo's window is open."

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "It *was* open!"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Oh dear."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Sigh."

Gert asks (of Erich), "Does this have anything to do with Trujillo?"

(From GM) Erich begins to shake his head, then reluctantly nods.

Cat goes sneaky sneaky up to the boathouse

GM says (to Cat&Arvid), "Someone's got a candle lit in the boathouse."

Hans asks, "Does it have anything to do with a jar full of spiders?"

(From GM) Erich nods.

Arvid asks (of Cat), "let's see, is that the only entrance? is there a window?"

Gert shakes her head.

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "The spiders happened before we heard anything about him making any students angry, right?"

Cat says (to Arvid), "I'm guessing there is a water gate too"

(From GM) Erich says, "it's for Professor Trujillo's own safety, really. He's got Andre thoroughly ticked off. You don't know Andre when he's really angry. Something's liable to happen."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Oh, it was Trujillo with the spiders last session?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Ha ha ha."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "yeah"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(I'm sorry. It is mean of me to find this amusing.)"

(From GM) Erich says, "As long as Andre thinks Trujillo's getting a bad time of things, he won't be so anxious to get his revenge."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "the discovering of the spiders and the hearing about andre's argument happened about the same time"

Cat says, "and if anyone escapes that way, I am letting *you* swim after them"

Hans asks, "And this will protect him how, exactly?"

Arvid says, "if anyone escapes that way, they will get very wet"

GM says (to Cat&Arvid), "there's more than one person in there."

GM says (to Cat&Arvid), "There's Joseph and Sir Galahad."

Gert says, "He's liable to invent something."

[Helvetica] GM plays around with time a little.

Arvid says, "let's see, Gert said she left a hole in the wall -- perhaps we can get close and listen"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Also, I am now worried that Andre has previously done experiments that involved making lightning strike strange glowing rocks, thus bathing him in phlogistonic luminescence, with transformative results whenever he is sufficiently angered..."

Gert asks, "So the idea is to get Trujillo to leave before Andre blows up?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

Gert asks, "Has Andre... gotten revenge on anyone else in the past?"

(From GM) Erich says, "Every time someone plays a prank on Trujillo, Andre relaxes a little."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Hmm."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I suppose their plan has already been working."

[Helvetica] Gert says (to Arvid), "If I don't remember later, you and I should have a chat about getting the IC in on the Andre/Guillot invention team."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Since when Fran told Erich and Andre and Pierre about <secret thing which was presumably the spiders>, he did calm right down."

Hans asks, "Would it not suffice for Andre to simply prove Master Trujillo wrong?"

Cat waits outside and listens in

(From GM) Erich says, "Perhaps. If it thoroughly humiliates Trujillo."

Gert says, "Trujillo's been here less than a week! If this sort of thing is common, Andre's going to have to find a different coping mechanism."

Gert sighs and looks up at the window.

(From GM) Sir Galahad says, "...sounds familiar. We had a similar case very recently, though as far as I can make out, there wasn't any of the scarring you descibe."

Arvid . o O ( he's much less irritating when he's not being purposely irritating )

(From GM) Erich says, "Most people figure out how smart Andre is right away. Once they've done that, they're usually safe as far as he is concerned."

(From GM) Joseph says, "The doctor was puzzled. He said there was evidence to show that she'd been dead for a month."

(From GM) Sir Galahad says, "It doesn't have anything to do with Dupin and Chevalier, though."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "So, I dunno what to do now aside from sending Erich to bed and then going to bed ourselves."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And having him punished tomorrow or something."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "well, you could go into Trujillo's room"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Enh."

(From GM) Joseph says, "Chevalier's using it as an excuse to tighten control on the province."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "He'll live."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I assume."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I'm more worried something happened to F"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Oh. Yeah, that's true."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "though maybe she heard the commotion, went out the other way, and is now back in bed"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Well, she didn't get caught."

Hans asks (of Erich), "Should we be concerned that we haven't seen Franziska come out yet?"

Gert asks (of Erich), "So, what, Trujillo is dismissive of Andre? What did he do, exactly?"

(From GM) Joseph says, "He wants the Pervenches returned to Bois-Franc. He's found evidence that the barber's wife might have had a hand in their escape."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh dear"

(From GM) Joseph says, "Dupin's said all along that once they're out of Montaigne, they're out of his jurisdiction. He changed his tune this morning. I'm not sure, but I think it has something to do with Nicolette."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "it sounds like we're two clicks away from another rescue mission to Bois-Franc"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "and then later we'll have to go and rescue whoever helped us this time, and so on"

(From GM) Sir Galahad says (impatiently), "you always think it's something to do with Nicolette Dupin!"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Do we know who Nicolette is?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "no."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "she's not on the NPC list, so no"

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "Maybe we could just get Switzerland to include Bois-Franc. Jusisdiction problem solved!"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims (at Arvid), "Neither was Agustin!"

[Helvetica] Arvid exclaims, "and he hasn't been seen all session!"

[Helvetica] Hans asks (of Gert), "Switzerwho?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Nicolette is a scary Montaigne Porte sorcerer."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

GM says (to Gert), "Erich recounts the argument. It apparently got rather more technical than Erich could follow, so he winds up passing on a very garbled account to you, of turning dead people into clocks."

[Helvetica] Arvid says (to GM), "ha ha"

Hans says, "Clocks? I thought it was pickles."

(From GM) Joseph says, "Nicolette's too much of an innocent to not be used as a pawn."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks (of GM), "could that dead for a month comment apply to Lucille?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(Also, did Erich miss my question about F?)"

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims, "NPC list updated!"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "Next step: color code it."

[Helvetica] Arvid says (to Gert), "excellent, thanks"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And then cross-reference it with which table they sat at for dinner."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Or make a full-fledged relationship map."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee hee"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "so basically intrigue is going on in Bois-Franc and we're *missing* it"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "However, 'Dupin' means she's probably Jean's sister or wife. Likely sister."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I initially assumed daughter."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Yeah, or neice."

(From GM) Erich says, "You know, once one gets into someone's room through the window ... one can get out by unlocking the door and going off through the corridor."

Hans says, "Hmm."

Hans says, "You make a compelling point."

[Helvetica] Hans asks (of Gert), "Right. So, do we check on Trujillo's room, check on Fran's bed, or just call it a day?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "so why was he waiting there, smart guy"

Gert says (to Erich), "I appreciate your concern for Andre, but I don't think this is sustainable. We'll talk with Andre and with Trujillo and see what can be done."

Gert asks (of Erich), "How long were you going to wait?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(I am in favor of punishing Erich and Fran for breaking curfew, but not for telling anyone else exactly why they did it.)"

[Helvetica] Gert conveys with Significant Looks that this is OK with her.

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Arvid), "Well, it's not unlikely that Fran would have changed her plans when she saw he wasn't alone."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "once Andre's experiment goes crazy, we can make Erich and Fran and Andre and Antoinette all clean it up"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Actually, though, we never saw Fran."

(From GM) Joseph says, "Dupin's been in an awful temper, lately. He told me that Chevalier has 'invited' Nicolette to visit him at Mont-St-Gabriyon for the next executions.

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "No, we just shouted loudly out of an open window that was right next to the open window she was inside of."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "No, I mean insofar as punishing her."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "We knew she was breaking curfew."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "She was missing when we did a bed check."

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Oh, since she wasn't in her room?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "she was -- yeah"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "all the evidence we need"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Guess we have to include all four for that, then."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And I am sure she will be grateful if it is all the evidence we provide."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hmm"

[Helvetica] Hans asks (of Gert), "We were going to punish Andre anyway, weren't we?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I don't know if we technically have to punish wossherface, the hypnotized one"

(From GM) Sir Galahad says, "Damn those executions. Well, at least the Pervenches got out. Wish I could say the same for poor old St-Seraphine."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "After letting him finish his project."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I guess it can't hurt, though"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Wikipedia claims that Heidi was prone to sleepwalking ;-)"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "except her, but pshaw"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Arvid), "We should at least bring it up, because if she defends herself, perhaps we'll learn something."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I don't know if that can be entered as evidence."

Hans says, "For now, let's all go to bed."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "so I don't know if we should burst in on Joseph and Galahad"

Hans says, "And we can worry about this in the morning."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "I doubt it"

(From GM) Joseph says, "Appears to be an old student on the execution list, if you're interested."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "it sounds like they're not doing any -- dammit"

Hans says (to Erich), "Report to Professor Kjellsen's first thing in the morning. Bring Franziska with you."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "this is all a prank by you guys since I like to sleep late"

(From GM) Joseph says, "Lady Agathe Meunier turns out to have been Agathe Shreiber before a her marriage."

Hans says, "He already knows that you two were breaking curfew, but he doesn't know why."

Hans says, "He can handle your punishment."

[Helvetica] Arvid exclaims, "not another relative!"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Of course, he probably will know why by then, but that's beside the point."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Arvid), "Ha. We already knew about Agathe Meunier, though."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Of course, 'we' == 'Hans and Gert'."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "did we know she was a Meunier?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "No, just that she's married."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "right, ok"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Who are the Meuniers?"

(From GM) Sir Galahad says, "And her husband?"

(From GM) Joseph says, "Gone. Not a trace."

[Helvetica] Hans looks back. "Oh, wait. She's been executed?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I dunno, but Joseph just said they're on the execution list in Bois-Franc or somewhere"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Aw, man."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "not yet"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Oh, phew."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I guess there will be another rescue after all."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "also, note the barber's wife is suspected of helping us"

(From GM) Erich nods.

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "She did, didn't she?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "which is probably enough to get her killed in the current climate"

[Helvetica] Arvid exclaims, "heh!"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "I guess she was the downstairs lady, and the one who helped us was the upstairs one?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And she was guilty. She was sympathetic toward a known noble."

[Helvetica] Hans asks (of Arvid), "Oh. Did I mix them up?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "oh, I dunno, maybe I did"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "I'm not seeing any Meuiners... Oh, Erich and Franziska's... older sister?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "right"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "Erich's sister who he said is married"

Hans pointedly waits for Erich to go.

(From GM) Erich goes.

[Helvetica] GM says, "Sorry, a bit too much typing, too little reading on my end"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks (of GM), "is Louise the barber's wife?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "Yes"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "once again I am entirely unsure what we can do with this information"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ok, so I guess she is in trouble"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "No problem. Did he actually go toward the boys' dorms?"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "other than not suspect Galahad of aiding abductors quite so much"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "and Joseph"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I think we need to go to Bois-Franc and evacuate the entire populace to Helvetica."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I think probably we'll have to take another crack at rescuing people, like he said"

Arvid says, "well, the one thing we must absolutely not do is let Erich know about this"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Cat, Arvid), "We will have to get together and share information in the morning and make plans."

Arvid says, "the last thing we need is another young man gallivanting off on a suicide mission"

Arvid says, "Gert will be bad enough on her own"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Ha ha ha"

Arvid yawns

Arvid says, "and personally, I've heard enough intrigue for one evening -- time for bed, I think"

(From GM) Joseph says, "Look, is there anything you can do? I don't know, get some people together to steal them away before the auto-executioner drops on them? What about those fellows who got the Pervenches out?"

[Helvetica] (from Hans) Arvid wakes up.

[Helvetica] Gert says (to Arvid), "There's your cue to pipe up."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Cat exclaims, "GM wields cluebat! cluebat strikes for 5k4!"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ok then"

[Helvetica] (from Gert) Arvid says (from the outside) "I don't know, how do we know this isn't a trap for us?"

Hans wanders off in the general direction of bed as well.

Arvid strolls around to the door and opens it. "You called?"

Arvid says, "and really, if you expect to make it as conspirators, you should check for eavesdropping holes before talking"

(From GM) Joseph jumps. Sir Galahad stares, then laughs and laughs.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I assume that we won't be passing anywhere near the boathouse unless we made a special point of doing so, which we have no reason to do."

Gert says (to Hans), "We should check the boathouse, just in case."

(From GM) Joseph says, "Merde, didn't think of that."

Cat hangs back outside, just in case

Hans asks, "Huh? Why, what's there?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "We planned to go there earlier."

(From GM) Sir Galahad grins and says, "I did."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Since Joseph is there and all."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I don't think I (Hans) had heard about Joseph."

Arvid says, "if you knew we were listening, I suppose we're lucky you didn't start talking about fashion again"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I told you all when we met up."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "But I suppose hiding information from Hans and then assuming he should have acted on it is not entirely inappropriate for Gert..."

[Helvetica] Hans asks (of Gert), "Oh, did you?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee hee"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "If you say so, dear."

Hans says, "If you say so, dear."

Hans yawns anyway

Gert looks exasperated. "Remember? Joseph? From the stables?"

(From GM) Joseph says, "I think we're lucky you weren't a spy. At least, I am. Do you have any idea where I'd be if word got out?"

Arvid says, "dead, same as we'd have been if we were caught in Bois-Franc before"

Hans follows Gert. "I thought he was at the waterfall..."

Arvid says, "I don't know what sort of thing you think you're playing at here"

Hans says, "With the jam and sausages."

(From GM) Sir Galahad says, "honestly, Joseph. If there *is* a spy in the school, I'm fairly certain it's my wife. And she's safe in bed."

Gert says, "That sounds like a good idea. It's been *hours* since dinner."

Arvid asks, "and speaking of dead, what is likely to happen to Madame Beauclaire?"

Arvid says, "she did speak to us, as it happens, so I imagine she will find it difficult to prove she did not"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Surely Trujillo, Lucia, Elena... they could never be spies."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

(From GM) Joseph says, "I'm not terribly worried about her. Dupin fancies her like anything. As long as Chevalier doesn't hear about it, he'll let her go with no more than a slap on the wrist."

Arvid says, "right, well, we'll just have to be careful to stay away from her next time we're there"

Gert sees Cat hiding by the boathouse, joins her.

Gert is startled to hear Arvid's voice.

(From GM) Joseph looks doubtful. "You'll do this, just on the basis of whatever you've overheard?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Obviously not hiding especially well, if you didn't even need to roll for it..."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

Arvid shrugs

[Helvetica] GM says, "some things happen because they are dramatically necessary."

Arvid says, "it could be an elaborate trap, I suppose"

Arvid says, "but based on what happened last time, if we don't go, Erich will"

Hans whispers, "What is going on?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "(That was a stage-whisper, of course.)"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "where are you? with Gert?"

(From GM) Sir Galahad says, "Erich and his sister Franziska together, I imagine. Possibly with Pierre Pervenche and Andre-Nicolas Valois in tow, if they've gotten a taste for the thrill of daring rescues."

[Helvetica] Gert says (to Arvid), "Ask who Nicolette and Chevalier are."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Yeah."

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "Also, heck, why not bring Erich along?"

Cat says (to Hans), "Galahad and Joseph were conferring. Secretly. About goings-on in Bois-Franc. Arvid has volunteered your rescuing services."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "He needs to work off some of his excess energy, apparently."

Arvid sighs.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And Andre too, for that matter."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Yeah, Andre."

Hans says (to Cat), "We're going to be helping *them*? But..."

Arvid says, "their idea of a daring rescue is to fall in love with a mysterious woman, blow up a warehouse -- ok, I admit I can see the attraction"

Arvid says, "but they don't have much of an eye for subtlety"

Arvid says, "though come to think of it, neither does Gert"

Gert exclaims, "I heard that!"

Gert enters.

[Helvetica] GM throws drama die at Arvid.

Arvid says, "ah, Gert"

Hans asks (of Cat), "Aren't they supposed to be here trying to abduct the Pervenches?"

Cat asks (of Hans), "apparently not?"

Hans says, "Hrm."

Arvid says (to Gert), "it turns out Joseph and Sir Galahad are more sympathetic to the Pervenches than we had imagined"

Hans listens.

Arvid says, "it also turns out Erich's sister is scheduled for execution"

Hans asks, "What?"

Hans barges in.

Hans asks, "Franziska, executed?"

Hans exclaims, "We must do something!"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "it is hilarious how we are all cramming into this boathouse for what is supposed to be a secret meeting"

Arvid exclaims, "ssh!"

Gert, in unison with Hans, "Franziska?!?

Arvid says, "no, another one"

Cat follows, since the hiding-outside thing has clearly outlived any usefulness it might ever have had

Hans asks, "Oh. Brigitta?"

[Helvetica] GM says, "A water-rat and a mole scurry out from under the boat house as the place gets more and more crowded."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

Gert adds The Wind in the Willows to the reference page.

[Helvetica] Gert says, "except on-channel."

Arvid says, "Agathe"

Hans says, "Ah, the married one."

Arvid says, "now a Meunier, apparently"

Arvid says, "right, though her husband has vanished"

Gert asks, "Who's her husband?"

Hans asks, "Has she committed any capital crimes?"

Arvid says, "I don't know if that means he's been taken for interrogation"

Arvid shrugs and looks at Joseph

Cat says (to Hans), "I'm not sure that that is strictly necessary any more"

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "aren't they nobles?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I guess only the Pervenches are"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Right, that's Hans's subtext."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "I think she married one."

Hans exclaims, "We must do something!"

(From GM) Joseph says, "Lord Raoul Meunier. A minor noble, apparently. Kept a low profile, but apparently not low enough."

Arvid says, "yes, yes"

Hans says, "Erich is likely still awake -- we can fetch him now and be ready to leave in an hour. Or we can wait until we are all better rested in the morning."

Arvid asks, "do you know when the execution is likely to be?"

Hans says, "Which might be more tactically sound."

[Helvetica] Gert asks (of GM), "Any of these names sound familiar in a oh-thats-who-my-father-is-working-for sense?"

Arvid says, "I imagine there is some risk of the guards recognizing us this time"

[Helvetica] GM says, "No."

Hans says, "We will have to wear disguises."

Hans says, "And swords."

Hans says, "In case the disguises do not work."

Arvid says, "they certainly won't recognize me in that case"

Gert asks, "Isn't there something more permanent we can do?"

(From GM) Joseph says, "The execution's set for X days from now, in Mont St-Gabriyon. If you leave in the morning, you should get there with at least a day to spare.

Cat says (to Gert), "we could glue a false nose onto his face, but I think it'd eventually wear off"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

Gert asks, "It's great if we can rescue the nobles we know, but what about all the ones we don't?"

Gert asks, "Can we get the Baron to annex Bois-Franc or something?"

Arvid says, "I'd be happy to give a discourse on political theory to you, but for tonight I'm going to bed"

Hans says, "Sadly, I assume that some of them must actually *be* guilty, or else there wouldn't *be* a revolution."

Gert says, "Still, if you could impose some sort of actual justice somewhere, that'd be nice."

Hans says, "So we would need to institute some sort of unbiased magistrate to preside over the whole affair, which is certainly beyond our powers."

Cat says (to Gert), "they're spoiling for a fight in Montaigne. It would be an excellent way to get *Geneva* annexed."

Cat says, "in fact, rescue raids are probably pushing it"

Hans says, "But I suppose perhaps we could arrange for them all to be sent here, and then tried before the Baron..."

Cat says, "who is himself, I should point out, a noble"

Hans says, "And then we could allow the guilty ones to be returned to Montaigne to be executed properly."

(From GM) Sir Galahad says, "*cough* Tried before the baron? Have you noticed how much he looks like the Comte du Cap-Royal?"

Cat says, "which does rather make his impartiality suspect, from a rebel point of view"

(From GM) Sir Galahad says, "People will say we're putting it on for show, with the Comte himself in the judge's seat."

Hans says, "While the innocent ones could have safe passage into Eisen or other countries..."

Gert asks (of Galahad), "Are they related?"

Hans says, "Well, we could have them all sent into Eisen and tried there."

Arvid says, "I imagine you will find some disagreement over what exactly the rights of the nobility are"

Hans says, "Perhaps by <some conveniently nearby Eisenfurst> or <some other one>."

Cat says, "there is the slight sticking point of a jury of one's peers, for instance"

(From GM) Sir Galahad says, "There's a story -- apocryphal, of course -- about an ancestor of the baron who had an affair with a Montaigne woman. Her husband fought a duel, and died, and the baron's ancestor fled here. 9 months later, the poor widow had a charming little daughter, and since then they've never managed to muster much in the way of hereditary Montaigne sorcery in the family."

Hans asks (of Cat), "What, and the eisenfurst are not peers?"

Cat says (to Hans), "yes, but again, that would not really do from a rebel point of view - they would think it perfectly obvious that it was just another case of nobles exonerating their own."

GM says, "The nearest Eisenfurst is Sieger. Who might very well decide to annex Helvetica in return."

Gert says, "Whatever happened to that Montesomething character? Montegue? The people seemed to like him."

Gert shakes her head.

Hans says (to Cat), "Who says they would be exonerated? That is yet to be seen."

Gert says, "Well, anyway, that wouldn't help Lady Screiber."

Hans whispers (to Arvid), "What is exonerated?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "This combination of schoolyard pranks and parents being killed is a very interesting dichotomy."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Sort of like MASH."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "heh"

Hans says, "In any case, judging things like this is what nobles are *for*."

Arvid says (to Hans), "found not guilty by reason of bribing the judge more successfully than their opponents"

Hans asks (of Arvid), "Oh. Is that how Montaigne trials work?"

Arvid says, "close enough"

Cat asks, "can we leave the civic government class until tomorrow morning?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "As an alert, I also need to go in 15 minutes to get somewhere else on time."

[Helvetica] Arvid asks, "I think we're about done here, right?"

Gert, in the course of the conversation, asks who Nicolette and Chevalier are.

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims, "But you were the one who started this whole 'how can we institute a fair way to protect the innocent from the revolution?' thing!"

Arvid asks (of Joseph), "are you going to be back in Bois-Franc? if we need to get you a message, how can we do it?"

[Helvetica] Gert exclaims (at Hans), "That was me!"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims (at Gert), "Yes! And now you're running off while we're stuck arguing about it!"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Oh, heh."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I thought that was a response to Cat."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Ah. No."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Although Cat is the one I would have expected to have to leave."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "well, I *do*"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "See?"

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Gert), "So stop getting you and Cat mixed up."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Got it."

GM says, "Sir Galahad and Joseph tell you that Chevalier is the Revolutionary Council's representative in the province of Sices (ie, the one right next door, where Bois-Franc is located). Apparently he also used to be one of Justine's suitors, and was actually invited to the wedding. Nicolette is Judge Dupin's adopted daughter. No-one knows who her real parents are."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Uh-oh."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "She's a Fate Witch."

Gert asks, "How old is Nicolette?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

GM says (to Arvid), "Joseph says, "You can find me at the town hall. Just leave a note on the desk, or something. Deliver it in a basket of periwinkles, perhaps. I'm easy to contact."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "Joseph is not so good at this conspirator stuff"

[Helvetica] Gert asks, "Wait, who's Justine?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "Galahad's wife"

[Helvetica] Cat says, "Galahad's wife and Joseph's sister"

Hans asks, "Something simple like, 'we have rescued the nobles that you requested; please send us further instructions on hwo to thwart the revolution'?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Oh, the lady here."

GM says, "Nicolette is about 19. Joseph goes on to describe her in effusive detail."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "and (according to Galahad) possibly a spy"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hmm"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "though if this is the scarlet pimpernel she's being forced into it"

Gert asks, "Oh, and what's this thing Arvid mentioned about someone having been dead for a month?"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I put the chances of this *not* being the Scarlet Pimpernell at 0.5%"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "well, it's the scarlet pimpernel plus a lot of other stuff"

(From GM) Sir Galahad says, "Eh? Nothing important. A woman was found, just outside of Paix on the road to Mont-St-Gabriyon. Naked, hideously scarred (though her face was intact) and completely bloodless.

[Helvetica] Gert says, "well, right."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I'm just sayin'."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "the french revolution's obsession with blood would make more sense if they were vampires"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "It's the Scarlet Pimpernel, the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, Carmilla, Heidi..."

Gert says, "Someone died like that here, and it turned out to have been a blackwood-inspired vampire-ish creature."

Hans asks, "Bloodless?"

[Helvetica] Cat says (to Arvid), "there was a vampire webcomic set in the French Revolution, I'm pretty sure"

Hans nods in agreement with Gert.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "'Bite Me'."

(From GM) Sir Galahad says, "Yes, but not hideously scarred."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Hans asks (of Arvid), "Also, are not the nobles more obsessed with blood than the revolutionaries?"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "At least, those with sorcery."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "good point"

Gert says, "True."

[Helvetica] Cat says, "okay, I've got to head out"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "yeah, probably a good place to close here"

[Helvetica] Cat exclaims, "thanks all!"

(From GM) Joseph says, "The scars were stitched up and healed, though. They might have nothing to do with how she died."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "NPC page updated again; let me know if I've missed out anything."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "tomorrow: we sleep, we wake up, we discipline students, and then we invite them to come on an adventure"

Gert says, "Ew."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "also, Andre's golem comes alive and ravages the campus"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "We discipline the students *by* making them go on an adventure."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Sounds good."

[Helvetica] GM says, "'later, Cat."

[Helvetica] Gert says, "I'm sure this will be effective."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Also, I assume Antoinette will want to come too."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I'm not sure she should be allowed"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "she strikes me as a goof"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "So we're going to have five students, two of whom are irrational because they're related to the person being rescued, and another two of whom are irrational because they're sparks."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ha ha"

[Helvetica] Hans exclaims (at Arvid), "What do you mean? She seemed quite dedicated in class!"

[Helvetica] Gert says, "Hee"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "she strikes me as a goof who is going to be in a catfight with Gert"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "If we're lucky, Andre will fall for her."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "that would be awesome"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And then we can have a love triangle."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "I forget who Andre was crushing on before"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "And someone is going to have to end up in a dress."

[Helvetica] Hans says (to Arvid), "Lucille."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "poor guy"

[Helvetica] GM says, "(I think we break here, but I'm enjoying the OOC conversation too much.)"

[Helvetica] Hans asks, "So should we close here, and have the next session pick up in the morning?"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "yeah"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Timing."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "the other reason to have our characters sleep is to give them some off-stage time to explain everything that happened tonight, because it's complicated who knows what"

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Good point."

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Then next week they can explain it to us."

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "hee hee"

[Helvetica] Arvid says, "ok, anyway, good stuff"

[Helvetica] Arvid exclaims (at GM), "thanks!"

Eolo has disconnected.

[Helvetica] Hans says, "Indeed."

[Helvetica] GM exclaims, "thank *you*!"
