Tharl decides that their adventure is probably nearly complete, so he starts collecting kobold biys as proof that they're dead.

GM asks, "Kobold biys?"

[D&D] Jourdain says, "ok, I have about 45 minutes left here, so probably not enough for another combat, but enough to do some wrap-up, at least"

[D&D] Tharl says, "Sorry, 'bits'."

[D&D] Tharl says, "As in noses or left feet or something."

[D&D] Tharl says (to Jourdain), "I think that was probably the last combat."

[D&D] Jourdain says, "some especially ugly kobolds have noses on their left feet"

Jourdain asks, "I guess I check out this place the boulder came from - is that a dead-end too?"

GM says, "It's a big empty room, also about 10 feet above where you are now."

Jourdain says, "so just some setup to give the boulder momentum, I guess"

GM says, "Basically, yeah."

Tharl asks, "What are they trying to protect?"

Tharl asks, "Is there soemthing at the end of the drake tunnel?"

Jourdain asks, "I'm not sure -- is there anything leading off that other platform?"

Raderig says (to Tharl), "it looked like a dead-end."

Raderig says, "but I didn't go in."

GM says, "It looks like a dead end."

Tharl says, "No, you're right."

Tharl exclaims, "Right then!"

Tharl asks (of Jourdain), "Is anyone here carrying any treasure?"

Raderig asks, "Hmm. Is the priest carrying anything?"

GM asks, "Does someone want to look?"

Raderig asks, "Or does he have, errr, pockets?"

Raderig looks.

GM says, "Well, hmm."

GM says, "First of all, there's his staff."

Tharl says, "Hey, that looks like treasure."

GM says, "It's nothing more than a long, gnarled piece of wood with an elaborately carved headpiece, but it seems to be glowing slightly."

GM says, "Let's see here, what else, what else."

GM says, "Well, this can't possibly mean anything."

Tharl asks (of Raderig), "Is that a priesty kind of staff thing?"

GM says, "But you find a tiny silver key wrapped in a piece of paper."

Raderig says, "Ah."

Raderig wonders if the staff is religious, and so performs a religion check:

Jourdain says, "I guess we can take it back to the city and identify it there"

GM says (to Raderig), "There's a bunch of stuff written in a language you... wait."

GM says, "You actually can kind of make out some of this."

GM says, "It looks like a message written in a couple of different languages, one of which is very rough Common."

Tharl looks over Raderig's shoulder, since he speaks draconic.

Raderig exclaims, "Ah, the Rosetta Koboldstone!"

Raderig says, "I mean, paper."

GM says, "The message says something like... I don't know, it's hard to say for sure since it's spattered in blood: "...key... northwest... door... unlock... ... ...rrax.""

GM says, "That's the most you can make out."

Raderig says, "Time to search the northwest corner."

Tharl exclaims, "We'd best all look!"

GM says, "You enter into a long corridor that doesn't look quite like the other corridors you've found int he hall."

GM says, "It's rougher, more natural looking, not a constructed place."

GM says, "You all approach the corner."

GM says, "The hall continues to stretch, turning to the right."

Jourdain says, "we've entered what seems to be an older, more primitive world"

Tharl asks (of Jourdain), "Is this your world?"

GM says, "You also notice, as you traverse the tunnel, that you're moving farther and farther down into the earth."

Raderig says, "Och, mine ears"

GM says, "You're not sure how much deeper you are now than when you started, but it's quite a bit."

Tharl says (to Raderig), "Mine? Could be."

GM says, "Finally, you come to a large cavern."

GM says, "Except..."

GM says, "Well, this is really weird."

GM says, "There's an enormous plate of glass in the middle of the room."

Tharl asks, "Glass? Who could forge so much glass in a single plate, especially down here?"

GM says, "It's very, very quiet in here."

Raderig examines the glass closely for markings

GM says (to Raderig), "Huh."

GM says, "As you get closer, it seems like it's not even glass at all."

GM asks, "It looks like... ice?"

GM asks, "Why would there be ice down here?"

Raderig whispers "Cold..."

Tharl says, "Perhaps thiis is the lair of an ice dragon."

Jourdain says, "brr"

Jourdain says (to Tharl), "in that case, I'm using a healing surge"

GM says, "Everyone roll perception, please. This is just too weird, I have to figure out what's going on."

GM says, "He stares quietly at the party, his gaze moving from one member to another."

GM says, "He opens his mouth, as if to speak."

Tharl says (in draconic), "Greetings."

GM exclaims, "But he doesn't speak!"

GM exclaims, "Instead, a vast cloud of bitter cold comes sweeping out!"
