[rpg] Sargent says, "DitV character creation going on in miskatonic, if anyone wants to watch"

Gunther has arrived.

katre has arrived.

lno says, "gracious, an audience"

Gunther says, "don't fuck up, little brother"

lno says, "here to witness my DitV Jack Chick character"

katre says, "I am watching but not participating"

lno says, "HAW HAW HAW"

GM asks, "Okay, what do you know about making a DitV character?"

lno says, "I read inky's transcript and I know about picking a background, assigning dice, and picking some traits"

dfan has arrived.

lno says, "but I do not remember the specific mechanics"

lno says, "I know what a Dog is and the role it plays in society - I think - so hopefully I can pick this up quickly."

GM says, "that's good"

GM says, "So tell me a little about your character"

lno says, "hm"

lno says, "my character was raised in the Faith, in a small town - a very small town"

lno says, "his upbringing was rather stern and fundamental, even when viewed from Bridal Falls"

GM says, "All righty."

lno says, "there was some concern that his early religious instruction was heretical in that it was far too strict"

Rob_2 has arrived.

Roger has arrived.

(From lno) lno says, "then he burned his parents at the stake"

GM says, "hah"

lno thinks.

GM asks, "Was being a dog something your character thought about doing before he was called?"

lno says, "No, he considered Dogs to be lenient and not truly faithful"

lno says, "He was called and feels that part of his obligation is to minister to other Dogs"

[rpg] * Rob has joined the channel.

GM asks, "Interesting. So how did he react to the call?"

katre says, "Somebody gonna find a claymore in the latri....wait, wrong era"

lno says, "ha"

lno says, "ha ha ha"

lno says, "at first he was filled with pride, for the King of Life had selected him to purify the ranks of the Dogs"

lno says, "then, of course, he recognized Pride for what it was and realized this was a test"

GM says, "oho"

lno says, "to restore the Dogs to their rightful place but to recognize that he is only a tool in the hands of the KoL"

katre says, "aw, too bad. that sounded like an awesome initiation"

GM asks, "What were your folks like about you being a dog?"

lno says, "hey, I'm making this up as I go along, we can always take part of that back if you think it'd be cool"

katre says, "I'm just commenting that "Realizing I'm not the best shit there is" is a good initiation premise"

[Crows-Nest] Roger says, "When the KoL calls, you gotta accept the charges."

lno says, "My folks were religiously strict but not as rigid as I was - they think that being a Dog might temper me a little, turn me into less of a firebrand"

[Crows-Nest] Rob_2 says, "s/charges/meat/"

GM says, "Neat."

[Crows-Nest] Jearl says, "I can't help conflating King of Life with King of All Cosmos"

lno says, "of course, I think they're lax in their faith, but I honor them too much to condemn them to their faces"

[Crows-Nest] Sargent says, "you have to roll up all the demons in the town"

[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "and they both come together in that web comic about the katamari of meat"

lno says, "(and I make small pamphlets featuring little Susie and papists/evolutionists/etc and distribute them instead of candy at Halloween)"

katre says, "ha ha"

GM says, "the first official step is for you to choose your background"

lno asks, "What are my choices, again?"

[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "which I guess I will post in case that made no sense to you"

[Crows-Nest] josh_g | http://community.livejournal.com/lifemetercomics/8102.html

GM says, "there's well rounded, strong history, complicated history, strong community, complicated community"

lno asks, "What's the general gist of each?"

GM says, "the first is a pretty standard upbringing, the second is if you've had good education or some useful experience, the third is if you're the young mormon equivalent of a JD, the fourth is if you're socially adept and have a strong family, the fifth is if you're from a broken family or are socially vulnerable"

lno asks, "JD?"

GM says, "juvenile delinquent"

lno says, "ah, I was thinking juris doctor"

Gunther says, "the guy from Scrubs"

GM says, "it sounds like well rounded might be the one for you, unless your family and community is very important to your character"

lno says, "let's go well rounded"

GM says, "all righty."

lno says, "my family and community are all going to burn in hell anyway"

GM says, "that gives you 17d6 in stats, 1d4 4d6 2d8 in traits, 4d6 2d8 in relationshpis"

GM says, "Stats. You have acuity, body, heart, and will. the minimum any trait can be is 2d6"

GM says, "acuity is being perceptive or alert or well-read or so on"

GM says, "body is big or strong or wiry or healthy"

GM says, "heart is being likable or compassionate"

Rob_2 has disconnected.

Rob_2 vooms himself somewhere else.

lno says, "hm"

GM says, "will is being self-confident, tenacious, etc."

GM says, "it sounds like your character has a powerful lot of will"

GM says, "the stats get rolled in pairs."

lno says, "yes, I'm thinking 6d6 or so"

lno says, "7d6 will, 4d6 acuity, 4d6 body, 2d6 heart sounds reasonable"

GM says, "talking is acuity + heart. physical but non-fighting is body + heart. fisticuffs is body + will. gunslingin' is acuity + will"

lno says, "talking doesn't use will? huh"

GM says, "no, it's more about feeling the other person out and what you're able to figure out about them"

lno says, "ok."

GM asks, "so in decent shape, pretty smart, and tenacious as all get-out?"

lno says, "and not really all that likeable"

GM says, "all righty"

GM says, "So, traits:"

GM says, "Traits are bits of history, or or skills, or attitudes, or facts about your character"

GM says, "When you're in conflicts that involve a trait, you get the trait's dice added to your roll"

lno asks, "are these three traits I have, or the seven dice I can assign to up to 7 traits?"

lno says, "1d6 4d6 2d8, that is"

GM says, "d4 traits are not so good because you get a lot of low rolls. d6 are better, etc."

GM says, "You can assign dice to traits however you like, as long as they're the same die"

lno says, "gotcha"

GM says, "so a 2d6 trait is fine, but a 1d6 1d4 isn't"

GM says, "four or five traits is about right, I think"

GM says, "http://www.drizzle.com/~dans/rpg/chars/lucas.txt will show you what inky did"

lno asks, "Called by the King to purify people's Faith 2d8?"

GM says, "I think that'd be a strong one, yeah"

lno says, "Impatient with casual believers 1d4"

GM nods.

GM asks, "Other than your attitude towards believers and the fait, what're some other things about your character?"

GM says, "(we can figure out the dice in a second)"

lno says, "hm"

lno says, "only child - not many recreational interests"

lno asks, "nearly everything centers back on the faith, as what could be more important than that, he wonders?"

lno asks, "if you sing a song, is it not better to sing a song that praises the KoL?"

GM says, "heh"

GM asks, "Well, what about history? Is there something that happened in your past that's interesting?"

lno says, "held inquisitions with his stuffed animals and tortued Mr Bear until he confessed"

GM says, "hee hee"

GM asks, "did you ever do much riding as a kid?"

lno says, "cousin drowned in a river, he watched him sink instead of running for help - he knows that was horribly wrong and would feel guilty if he allowed himself to think about it"

[rpg] Gunther | D&D Online: Stormreach Has Gone Gold

lno says, "when he was 8 or so"

lno says, "did an average amount of riding. Not a horsemanship expert, but he's not like someone from back East"

[rpg] baf says, "I have yet to hear anyone say anything good about that game."

lno says, "hm."

GM says, "so maybe 'I saw my cousin drown"

lno says, "I saw my cousin drown, 1d6"

lno asks, "Guns talk better than most people, 1d6?"

GM says, "That's more of a belief than a trait. Hm."

Roger says, "Likes guns more than most folk"

GM asks, "I think guns settle arguments well?"

GM says, "And one of your traits should be 'I'm a dog' or some variation on that"

Gunther says, "I'm a dirty dog"

lno says, "sounds good. I think guns settle arguments well, 2d6, and I'm the Dog of Dogs, 2d6"

GM asks, "So what are all of your traits and dice, just for reference?"

lno says, "Called by the KoL to purify faith, 2d8"

lno says, "Impatient with casual beliefers, 1d6"

lno says, "I saw/let my cousin drown, 1d6"

lno says, "I think guns settle arguments well, 2d6"

lno says, "I'm a Dog for the Dogs, 1d6"

GM asks, "the impatience was 1d4, right?"

lno says, "yes, sorry"

GM says, "Okay, relationships."

GM says, "You've got a bunch of dice in them, but you should only allocate a couple of them to start with"

GM says, "So think of two people who are important to you in your mind (they don't have to reciprocate)"

lno asks, "My parents aren't strong enough in their faith to receive salvation and I am not happy with that, 2d8?"

GM says, "It needs to be a specific person or people"

lno asks, "My parents, 2d8, then?"

GM says, "so one could be Your parents, whom you think have a weak faith, 2d8"

GM says, "yeah"

lno asks, "isn't that what I originally said?"

GM says, "That'd probably be good for you"

GM says, "pretty much. The emphasis on relationships is on the actual person (your parents) rather than what they are (my parents aren't strong enough...)"

lno says, "Got it."

lno says, "King of Life, who approves of everything I do and condemns the material world, 4d6"

lno says, "right? right"

GM says, "hah, no"

lno says, "bah"

GM says, "So with all of this set, we're ready to do your initiation"

lno says, "let's roll"

GM says, "oh, wait, belongings"

GM says, "The idea is you name some stuff that you carry that's important to you and give it dice"

lno says, "I have my gun, my bible, and my coat - anything more leads to attachment to material things and diverts attention from the faith"

katre says (to lno), "you also want some consecrated earth (in a jar) for ceemonies"

lno asks, "what dice can I assign to items?"

katre says, "ceremonies"

lno says (to katre), "for when I kill Dracula? got it"

GM says, "normal stuff is 1d6. excellent is 2d6 ('that is one great gun you have'), big is 1d8 ('geez, that's a big gun'), 2d8 if it's excellent + big, 1d4 if it's crap"

katre says, "also also a horse, I think"

lno says, "Where'd he get that minigun, 6d10"

GM says, "you'll be given a horse and gun and coat and jar of consecrated earth and a copy of the book of life"

lno asks, "do I have any limit on the dice I can spend on belongings?"

GM says, "no, but it should be things that are really important to you"

GM says, "you're assumed to have provisions and bedrolls and things like that"

lno says, "My gun 'Inquisitor', given to me by my youth pastor, 2d6"

katre says, "if there's a way to work the bedroll's dice into a conflict this ain't the Dogs I remember"

lno says, "I'm trying to think of what items this character would treasure beyond the simplest"

katre says, "it's fine to stick with the basics"

Roger says, "Dogs in the Brothel."

lno says, "Grandfather's silver ring, 1d6 - grandfather had similar attitudes to me"

GM says, "the coat is important. It's your symbol of office. traditionally your family and community would sew it for you"

GM says, "most dogs have a 2d6 coat, which you get to describe"

lno says, "Dark grey coat, no emblems or decorations, 2d6"

GM says, "there we go"

GM asks, "is your horse just a normal one?"

lno says, "yes"

GM says, "add that in at 1d6, and we're set"

GM exclaims, "Now, initiation!"

[rpg] Roger says, "Heh; in the never-ending bandit game, my last three Spot checks have been 20, 21, 21."

GM says, "You need to decide on something that you'd like to have accomplished during initiation"

GM says, "like 'I hope I overcame my fear of heights' or 'I hope I learned not to swear' or whatever"

Gunther says, "hunt a quail"

GM says, "It shouldn't be something so big that failing at it would cripple you for life"

GM says, "or prevent you from being a dog"

GM says, "at the end you'll get a new d6 trait from it"

[Crows-Nest] Roger says, "Cmon, kick your parents around. You know you want to."

GM says, "(which is how inky's character got 'I can get it together when it really counts')"

[Crows-Nest] josh_g asks, "is there an RPG thing going on now?"

[Crows-Nest] Gunther says, "no, we really want him to"

[Crows-Nest] Sargent says, "creating lno's Dogs in the Vineyard character"

lno says, "hm"

[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "ah"

GM says, "and it needs to be in the context of initiation"

lno says, "I hope I convinced a fellow Dog of the laxity of his belief"

GM says, "Excellent."

GM says, "So I'll be the dog you're trying to convince"

lno says, "I plan to point my gun at him and continue shouting "THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU" until he believes"

[Crows-Nest] Roger says, "When someone says lno's character has a Holier Than Thou attitude, they mean it literally."

GM asks, "Where did this take place? Was this just the two of you talking, or was this in class?"

lno says, "or maybe I'd start a little less aggressive"

lno says, "This was in class during a group discussion. He argued a point of theology from a more metaphorical perspective, I believed that the Book of Life is very clear on this and context is unnecessary."

[Crows-Nest] Roger says, "Awww -- convince a woman instead. That sounds more dramatic."

GM asks, "All right, in class. We're just talking?"

[Crows-Nest] josh_g asks, "which room is it in?"

lno says, "I suppose."

lno says, "(heathen)"

[Crows-Nest] Roger says, ""Walk the Plank", then south."

[Crows-Nest] Gunther says, ""walk the plank" then s"

GM says, "If so, roll your heart + acuity."

josh_g has arrived.

lno asks, "how?"

GM says, "I roll 4d6+4d10"

lno says, "oh jesus"

lno says, "I should have shot this guy"

GM says, "hee hee"

GM says, "well, you'll get to bring in traits. I'll talk you through it."

Gunther says, "you can escalate to that later"

GM asks, "What're your heart and acuity?"

lno says, "2d6 and 4d6"

lno asks, "how do I roll on the mud?"

GM says, "'roll 2d6'"

lno rolls 2 6-sided dice: 2 5| 7

GM says, "or in this case 'roll 6d6'"

lno rolls 4 6-sided dice: 3 1 1 2| 7

lno says, "1 1 2 2 3 5, looks like"

Gunther asks, "wait, wasn't there a better dice bag with save function?"

GM says, "and because you're trying to purify faith, roll 2d8 (your trait is involved)"

lno says, "good thing I'm convinced of the rightness of my cause - and that they let me wear my gun in class"

lno rolls 2 8-sided dice: 7 3| 10

You roll 4 6-sided dice: 6 2 2 3| 13
You roll 4 10-sided dice: 1 2 3 8| 14

lno says, "1 1 1 1, please"

lno says, "boo"

GM says, "So you and Tom are in class. Tom has just argued that the King of Life was speaking metaphorically about something."

lno nods.

GM says, "You start by raising: pick two dice and state what you're doing to further the conflict"

lno says, "I think he's obviously wrong, and that there's the remote possibility he's deliberately malicious and trying to weaken the faith."

GM asks, "So play that out! What do you say and do?"

lno says, "I'll use 5 and 3, and interrupt him. "Tom, that's wrong. You know that's wrong. There's nothing metaphoric about that at all.""

lno says, "(wait - can he just use his 8 to match that and beat me?)"

GM says, "yep"

lno asks, "so I should use 7 and 5?"

GM says, "or 7 and 3"

lno says, "7 and 3, then"

GM says, "you don't want your opponent to reverse the blow with one die"

lno says, "forcing him to use two dice to beat me, thus ... got it"

GM says, "Tom turns a little red. "That interpretation follows from what Brother Alan was just saying" (8 + 2 to block/dodge)"

lno asks, "What does block+dodge mean, and why didn't he use 8+3 to surpass what I did?"

GM says, "take a look at http://www.drizzle.com/~dans/rpg/dogs.html in the rules section"

GM says, "First you raise, then I put in some dice to answer you"

GM says, "If I put in one die, I see the blow and turn it against you, so your action fails and makes the situation worse"

GM says, "If I put in two dice, I am either blocking or dodging -- I resist or avoid your action"

lno says, "aaah"

GM says, "If I put in three or more dice, I take the blow. Your action succeeds and I will take fallout later"

GM says, "so 8+2 matches your 10 and leaves me with a higher die for later"

GM says, "Now it's my turn to raise"

lno says, "right"

GM says, "and Tom says, "Besides, who appointed you teacher here?" (6 + 3)"

GM says, "Now you have to answer a total of 9"

Gunther says, "God did. *bang*"

[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "ha ha"

lno says (to Gunther), "damnit, quit stealing my ideas"

GM says, "You'd have to do three of your current dice, so you'd take some fallout later (which will probably not be all that bad)"

GM says, "or you can pull in some trait to get extra dice"

lno asks, "since I can't do it with 2 dice, can I escalate and bring in more?"

lno says, "right"

[Crows-Nest] Gunther says, "I still don't understand the fallout thing"

[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "I still ... was going to ask the same thing"

GM says, "or escalate to a more physical approach, to fighting, or to gunplay"

[Crows-Nest] josh_g asks, "is fallout beneficial?"

[Crows-Nest] Gunther asks, "no?"

[Crows-Nest] GM says, "fallout gives you sometimes short-term consequences (a trait at 1d4 for the next encounter) or longer-term consequences (you change a trait) or puts you in peril of dying"

lno says, "I'm going to bring in my relationship with my parents. 'You did. Brother Alan did. The King of Life did. We all have a responsibility to ensure the worship of others is correct. My parents have a weak faith. It's my responsibility to correct them.'"

lno says, "'It's my responsibility to correct you.'"

GM says, "roll your parent's dice"

lno rolls 2 8-sided dice: 3 5| 8

Theophilus has arrived.

katre disappears through an invisible gap in the MUD. You think you may have heard the sounds of chatting before the gap closed again.

lno says, "not terrible."

GM says, "and now you can pick two dice to match my 9"

lno says, "I'll have to do 5+5"

GM says, "so you indeed blocked with your statement"

lno asks, "now I raise?"

GM says, "yep"

lno says, "I see you have 1 2 2 3 left, so I'll use 3+3 (6) and say 'For the sake of your everlasting soul, you need to acknowledge, right now, that the Book of Life is clear on this.""

[Crows-Nest] Gunther says, "now I get it"

GM says, "I'd have to use three dice to answer, leaving me short a die to raise the next time, and Tom's not going to escalate, so:"

[Crows-Nest] Gunther says, "this is Button Men with a RPG attached"

GM says, "He flushes a deeper red, looking from you to Brother Alan, who in turn is watching the two of you with interest"

[Crows-Nest] (from Gunther) Brother Alan rolls 8d10: 8 7 8 7 9 7 7 9

GM says, "Finally, he sort of breathes out a heavy sigh and says, "Yeah, I see what you're saying.""

lno says, "then I pull out my gun and shoot him in the thigh, so he knows I mean business"

GM says, "And you get a new d6 trait related to this"

GM says, "hee hee"

lno says, "wait, no, Brother Alan probably has a gun too"

Gunther says, "shoot him first"

[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "shoot the hostage!"

lno says, "Saved a Dog from lapsing into heresy 1d67"

lno rolls 1 67-sided die: 5| 5

Gunther says, "ha ha ha"

Theophilus says, "ha ha"

lno says, "only a 5 on that? bah"

josh_g says, "ha ha"

GM says, "Sounds great, barring the '7'"

GM exclaims, "And you're set for Saturday!"

lno says, "yay"

Gunther rolls 1 67-sided die: 29| 29

lno says, "stupid dice bag"

GM says, "Back to the lounge for me"

Theophilus says (to sarge), "let me know if there are any problems with http://www.henchmonkey.org/Theophilus.txt"

lno says, "thanks"

Theophilus says, "hey wait"

GM asks, "Oh, are you ready to go?"

Theophilus says, "unless you say "the webpage you looked at gave you bad dice pools for Strong Community", sure"

Theophilus says, "also if you see anything else egregiously wrong"

GM says, "No, that looks good"

GM asks, "You ready for initiation?"

Theophilus says, "sure, if we can think of one"

Theophilus says, "that was where I got stumped"

GM asks, "What's something you want to have happened during initiation?"

lno says, "You were humiliated by a fellow Dog in theology class"

Theophilus says, "the big things about this guy is that he's a bit embarassed to be here, with his country ways and lack of education, and he's pretty devout"

lno says, "then you followed him home and shot him"

Theophilus says, "but then, everyone is pretty devout, so"

Gunther says, "ha ha ha"

Gunther says, "also, what's Mozart doing in the Wild West"

GM asks, "Did you kinow how to read going in?"

Gunther says, "(Theophilus being Amadeus)"

Theophilus says (to gm), "yes, but just barely"

Theophilus says, "so maybe some kind of mastering theology or learning calculus thing"

Roger says, "I said, you're poor, Kenny! Your family is poor! That's got Pride and Envy written all over it."

GM says, "so maybe you could do 'I hope I learned to read better'"

Theophilus says (to gm), "works for me"

Theophilus says, "I'm not sure how I can get into a fistfight with illiteracy, but sounds fun"

GM says, "This is a little different from the previous one, since we're looking at growth rather than an accomplishment"

Gunther says, "another student who m0x0rs you"

GM says, "The way this works is that you take the side of your character as he is going in (i.e. not knowing how to read well)"

GM says, "and I take the side of the pressures trying to get you to read better"

GM says, "so in effect you're fighting against learning to read well"

Theophilus asks, "So I want to lose?"

lno says, "see, he's in chemistry class, and if he passes the conflict, he correctly reads H2SO4; if he fails, he thinks it says H2O"

GM says, "maybe :)"

Theophilus says, "Okay"

GM asks, "would you be comfortable playing a character who didn't learn to read well?"

Theophilus says, "I could probably manage it"

GM says, "It should be balanced where you'd be interested in your character going either way, so can feel free to do your best at the conflict"

Theophilus says, "okay, sure"

Gunther asks, "if you lose, do you not get the trait?"

GM says, "he'd get something like 'I didn't learn how to read well 1d6'"

[Crows-Nest] Roger says, "If you're playing Mi-Gos in the Vineyard, heck yeah, you want to be illiterate."

[Crows-Nest] Theophilus says, "heh"

Theophilus asks, "so we start out rolling talking?"

GM says, "but that means later on in a conflict he could say something like 'I may not have read the book of life the way you do, but I've learned right from wrong at the knee of my dad' and get those trait dice"

Gunther says, "and then shoot lno"

josh_g says, "hee hee"

Theophilus says, "I reserve the right to change my equipment if I end up illiterate, however"

GM says, "Well, you're not necessarily illiterate. You may just move your lips a lot when you read, and read really slowly"

Gunther says, "to the 3d popup book version of the Book"

(From josh_g) Theophilus says, "since I put a full Encyclopedia set in my starting equipment"

Theophilus exclaims (at gunther), "pretty pictures!"

GM says, "since what's at stake is not 'I hope I learn to read' but 'I hope I learn to read *better*'"

Theophilus says, "anyway, let's go"

Gunther says, "pull this lever -> to see the KoL smite the unbeliever"

[Crows-Nest] Theophilus says, "also, calling him the KoL is frying my brane repeatedly"

[Crows-Nest] Gunther says, "Kollah"

GM says, "Let's say Brother Ezra, one of your teachers, has asked you to come for remedial reading lessons one afternoon"

Theophilus says, "Aw, more classes? It's such a nice day out. *trudge trudge trudge*"

GM says, "and you're not real pleased with that. Maybe you're missing a shooting lesson or something for this, and it's a beautiful day out"

GM says, "yeah"

GM says, "We'll start with talking"

You roll 4 6-sided dice: 1 6 6 6| 19

Theophilus rolls 6 6-sided dice: 2 3 1 6 1 5| 18

You roll 4 10-sided dice: 2 3 9 6| 20

lno says, "ok, maybe you better start with shooting"

GM says, "So you're at a table, the book of life open in front of you two"

GM says, "It's been an annoying lesson so far."

GM says, "You start with a raise"

GM says, "and if you want, try to pull in a trait or belonging or relationship for more dice"

[Crows-Nest] Roger exclaims, "Book of Life, Dummies Edition. Salvation for the rest of us!"

Theophilus rolls 1 10-sided die: 7| 7

Theophilus says, "(7+3) Pastor Dickson already taught me to read this verse. I'm good with it, but thanks."

GM says, "Brother Ezra frowns. "It's not enough to read just one verse alone." (9+1)"

GM says, "He points at the book. "I'm worried that you aren't focusing enough on reading the book as a whole. You need to grasp the King of Life's words in all their glory." (6+6)"

Theophilus says, "(6+5+1) His words truly are glorious, I know."

Theophilus says, "(2+1) I just don't see why I'll need to read so much if I'm out doing the work of a Dog."

[Crows-Nest] Roger says, "Fill that book fulla lead, son."

Theophilus says, "[And unless I get into a fistfight I'm out of dice now]"

[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "hee hee"

[Crows-Nest] Roger says (to Theo), "I think you can still bring in relations or equipment at this point."

[Crows-Nest] Theophilus says, "I could"

[Crows-Nest] Theophilus says, "if I had any that fit well, which I don't, and if I the player wanted to win, which I don't particularly"

GM says, "Brother Ezra turns the blow with his 3. "That is exactly why we are here -- so you can see how reading will make you a more effective Dog.""

[Crows-Nest] Gunther says, "come on and rock me theophilus"

Theophilus says, "Yessir."

GM says, ""We're not leaving today until you show greater mastery of this whole chapter.""

Theophilus buckles down and studies harder.

lno says, "(context? we don't need no damn context! I shoot Brother Ezra)"

GM says, "and you get a 1d6 trait for the initiation"

Theophilus says (to lno), "you know, that was funny once"

Theophilus says, "and now it's just annoying"

lno says, "ok."

[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "sheesh man, it's not all about shooting"

[Crows-Nest] (from Roger) Theophilus shoots lno.

[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "just, you know, sometimes"

[Crows-Nest] Theophilus says, "I've never shot anyone playing this game"

GM says, "you'll need to roll 3d4 for fallout"

[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "cool"

Theophilus says, "Yay, I am all initiated"

Theophilus rolls 3 4-sided dice: 3 3 2| 8

[Crows-Nest] Roger says, "He's that one Jedi who always has his light saber turned on."

Theophilus asks, "what does an 8 mean?"

[Crows-Nest] josh_g asks, "btw, this game looks really interesting. what time are you guys planning to play the full sessions?"

GM says, "you can subtract 1 from one of your stats, take a 1d4 trait, a new relationship (say, with Brother Ezra) for 1d4, add 1 die to a d4 trait, remove 1 die from a d6 or better trait"

[Crows-Nest] GM says, "9 PM EST this Saturday night"

Theophilus says, "I'm going to increase Not much book-larnin' to 2d4, then"

GM says, "sounds good"

GM exclaims, "And you're set!"

Theophilus says, "yay, thanks"

[Crows-Nest] josh_g says, "hmm, then I probably couldn't actually play. I will just read transcripts then"

[Crows-Nest] GM says, "all righty"

GM says, "That's it for me, then."

GM says, "Back to the lounge"

lno disappears through an invisible gap in the MUD. You think you may have heard the sounds of chatting before the gap closed again.

Theophilus has disconnected.

Theophilus goes home.
