Eolo says, "I wasn't exactly sure what to do, but it seemed like in my game we had a lot of people who were farmers, so I thought maybe I could play somebody who grew up in the capitol city"

Eolo says, "yeah"

GM asks, "How did you become a dog?"

Eolo says, "maybe even a guy whose, like, dad was a Dog or something, but hadn't really been out of the city himself"

Eolo says, "hmm"

GM asks, "Like, did you hear your dad's stories about when he was a dog?"

Eolo says, "yeah, I think so"

Eolo says, "I'm not sure if it's something I wanted to do"

Eolo says, "being a Dog for this guy is one of those things you're just compelled to do"

GM asks, "Did your dad ever mention the possibility?"

Eolo says, "it seems like he must have"

Eolo says, "maybe the deal is just that he tried to push me into it and I pushed back"

GM says, "I didn't know if he'd be one of those people who thought 'I'm not going to push my son towards anything'"

GM says, "That could be interesting."

GM says, "You could have been all, 'no, no, no, I'm not going to be a dog, I've got no -- wait, why am I feeling called to be a dog?'"

Eolo says, "hee hee"

Eolo says, "yeah, exactly"

Eolo says, "the only other thing I decided about the guy is that he has a stutter when he's stressed"

GM says, "oho"

GM asks, "Was that a big deal during training?"

Eolo says, "hrm, I think it probably made him shy"

Eolo says, "which probably is related to some of the teachers knowing his dad"

Eolo says, "and there's probably some preachin' classes or something"

GM says, "The instructors are there to burn out your weaknesses, so I can imagine them focusing on that"

Eolo says, "hm, yeah, good point"

Eolo says, "I think he's not any good at riding either"

Eolo says, "I guess he is good at reading and writing and history stuff"

GM says, "yeah"

Eolo says, "I'm not sure if he is good at shooting or not"

GM asks, "Did your instructors compare you to your dad at any point?"

Eolo says, "hmm, I guess they must have"

Eolo says, "I think my dad was probably much more of an outdoorsy rough-and-tumble guy with a lot of human insight"

GM says, "Well, that probably depends on how big a deal it was in your mind"

GM says, "They'd pick up on things like that"

Eolo says, "yeah"

Eolo says, "ok, in that case they definitely did :)"

GM says, "hee hee"

GM asks, "are you thinking strong history?"

Eolo says, "yeah, I think that makes the most sense"

Eolo says, "so, hrm, 13d6 stats"

GM asks, "how would you divide up your stats?"

Eolo says, "it seems like acuity is this guy's big one"

Eolo says, "probably 5d6 there"

GM says, "yeah, I can see that"

Eolo says, "what's that leave, 8? probably 3d6 body and heart, 2d6 will"

GM says, "mmhmm"

Eolo says, "(I think he's a reasonably good-sized guy, like his dad, he just carries himself small)"

GM says, "yeah"

Eolo says, "so I guess since gunfighting is acuity + will, he's good technique but has trouble keeping focused"

Eolo says, "er, he's got good technique"

Eolo says, "hmm, so traits"

GM says, "something involving the book, perhaps"

Eolo asks, "book of life, you mean? or reading and writing?"

GM says, "book of life"

Eolo says, "clearly he's got his dad's old copy from when he was out travelling"

Eolo says, "maybe with little badly-spelled notes in the margins"

GM says, "heh"

GM says, "That'd be a good possession to have"

Eolo says, "yeah"

GM asks, "actually, how does your dad feel about you being a dog?"

Eolo says, "hrm"

Eolo says, "I think he doesn't think the King of Life makes mistakes, but he's not sure how exactly I'm going to handle it"

GM says, "interesting"

GM asks, "so, coat, book of life. what else?"

Eolo says, "a nice new gun I bought with my own money"

Eolo says, "I dunno where I got any money from -- mowing lawns or something"

GM says, "heh"

GM says, "helping other dogs with their homework"

Eolo says, "crappy-ass horse because it's not scary"

Eolo says, "ha ha"

GM asks, "so perhaps 2d6 for the book (assuming it's not big), 2d6+1d4 for the gun, 1d4 for the horse?"

Eolo says, "yeah, sounds good"

Eolo asks, "is this a shooting test?"

GM says, "It's your third time on the shooting range"

GM says, "You and several of your fellow initiates, perhaps"

LucasDodgson says, "yeah"

LucasDodgson says, "probably we're the last ones who haven't hit the target yet"

LucasDodgson instinctively lets his gun dip for a minute, then realizes and yanks it back up

LucasDodgson lets out a long breath and fires -- the bullet strikes the target right in the center.

GM says, "you look up to see Hezekiah watching you closely. He nods, just a bit, and turns to talk to the others."

LucasDodgson says, "cool"

LucasDodgson says, "and I'll write down "I can get it together when it really counts - 1d6""

GM says, "Nice."

LucasDodgson updates sheet with Hezekiah's name, too

GM says, "Good, good."

GM exclaims, "And now you're set!"

LucasDodgson says, "yay"

LucasDodgson says, "thanks for this, it was good stuff"

LucasDodgson asks, "I guess I'll mail this transcript to lps -- do you want a copy too?"

GM says, "If lps gets it up on the site, that should be fine"

GM exclaims, "Glad you enjoyed it!"

LucasDodgson says, "okey doke"

GM says, "Hopefully I'll get faster at it."

LucasDodgson says, "you've got two more people to practice with"

GM says, "True."

GM has disconnected.
