GM exclaims, "So, when we last left you all, you had been chatting with Montegue, when Devoe showed up, only he wasn't actually Devoe!"
Vasili says, "And now it's getting away!"
GM says, "He leaped out of the tent, and Era just flew and bashed him, and Raelynn shot him with a blooded arrow, that got well and truly lodged in his head."
GM asks (of Raelynn), "What's the range on your radar with that?"
[ussura] Era says, "sweet. nice shooting, Rae"
Gunther I actually expected that to happen the first time but missed the change
Gunther says, "sorry"
[Crows-Nest] GM says, "Heh, np."
Raelynn tries to see if the guy is in range. "Only a mile range, sadly"

Pyotr says, "As fast as he was going, he probably left a good trail."
Pyotr says, "I bet we can follow it, with Raelynn's help if we lose him for a bit"
Sebastien says, "we'd better take to our horses, then"
Sebastien asks (of Montegue), "do you care to come along, sir? or should we resume this conference later?"
[ussura] Pyotr asks, "or should we let him go and stay with Montegue?"
[ussura] Charles says, "Chasing Devoe seems like the exciting thing to do."
[ussura] Pyotr says, "okay, awesome"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "I had imagined letting him get away and lead us to his secret base, but if it's only a mile I'm not sure that's workable"
[ussura] Charles says, "And will lead to inconvenient diplomatic issues later on when we try to explain all of this to Montegue."
Pyotr runs over to grab the horses (and his axe).
Charles mounts up to follow Pyotr and Raelynn.
Montegue waves to an attendant, and his horse is brought over hastily.

Sebastien says, "I suppose our attendants will be fine to stay here in camp"
Pyotr says (to Raelynn), "Which way? He can't have gone far yet."
GM says (to Raelynn), "You can sense him darting into the woods in the snow."
Era tries to keep DevoeBug in sight.
Raelynn says, "he is heading into the woods"
Vasili says, "Off we go. I hope these things get tired."
Raelynn says, "if we keep moving, we might be able to keep him in range"
Pyotr exclaims, "Let's go!"
Sebastien says, "it'll be hard to keep up in the woods, but we can but try"
Pyotr races into the woods.
[ussura] Raelynn asks, "are we riding or running?"
[Crows-Nest] GM says, "Riding, looks like."
[ussura] Pyotr says, "riding. I grabbed your horse for you"
[ussura] GM says, "Except noted here."
GM exclaims, "And you're off!"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "I bet we are wondering if anyone has the ride knack"

Montegue is also riding around the camp, shouting orders at his men to not shoot the Pyeryem sorceress, and to search the woods for a jumping man.

Charles shouts, "There he is!" He rises up in his saddle, looses another knife from his belt and takes aim.

[ussura] Era says, "stunning blow with a wing? how does pugilism work with wings? they're strong, but I can't make a fist."

Charles leans a bit too far to the right while lining up his shot, almost slipping from the saddle. He's forced to slow up in order to stay on, but is still pleased because his quarry is slowed as well.

Sebastien hears the shouting and nudges his horse to go faster.

Charles exclaims, "That man is the spy who deceived his way into Montegue's inner circle! Avenge your general against this insult!"

Sebastien starts to say something, but realizes Charles has it well in hand

Charles holds up Montegue's pendant as a sign of the general's will. The confusion of the soldiers gradually turns first to embarrassment and then to resolve as they realize that the Montaigne maiden's warning was true.

GM says, "Also, it starts to glow again, which only adds to their amazement."
[ussura] GM asks (of Seb), "Anything for you?"

Sebastien, seeing the glowing pendant, pulls his horse short, and looks around for Montegue
[ussura] Vasili says, "they have maidens in a war camp? I guess this is the more gender-equal Theah."

Devoe's hand runs along Alphonse's neck, and those of you who have seen their actually-sharp claws shudder as a line of blood appears. Alphonse drops to the ground like a rag doll, and Devoe flings his hand towards the Porte hole. The hole itself had been dwindling, but with the added blood, it suddenly springs back to life again.
[ussura] GM says, "What with being grappled, he can't jump through right now, but he's gathering his legs under him, as if to spring through, with or without you."
[ussura] GM says, "Phase 5! Devoe, Charles, Charles."
[ussura] Charles says, "I will interrupt to join the pig pile."
[Crows-Nest] Raelynn says, "emit Alix says, "No, don't follow him in there!""
[ussura] GM says, "You don't need to interrupt, you're good."

Charles rides towards the growing pile of men and jumps from his horse right into the middle of the fracas.

[ussura] Sebastien says, "I hope someone told you to keep your eyes closed"

[ussura] GM says, "Well, you can try to wrestle him to destabilize his leverage. And yeah."
[ussura] GM exclaims, "So, with your numbers (less 15) added as well, you manage to get him pulled back outside a little!"
GM exclaims, "Sebastien re-emerges from the Porte-hole, still holding on to Charle's legs!"
GM says, "Pyotr is hauling back on one leg, while Era as a wolf is pulling back on the other."

Vasili gets back to his feet, and joins in to stabilize and assist Pyotr.

GM says, "And with that, you all fly back out of the Porte hole."

GM says, "Charles still clutching... something. But it no longer looks like Devoe."
Charles says (to Sebastien), "...sorry."
Era falls on her bad leg(arm). "Yip!"
Sebastien says, "just, uh, get off my chest and we'll call it even"
Charles rolls himself and the other thing off.
[ussura] Vasili says, "Nice ending. I gotta run."
Montegue rides up.
Era spits Sebastiens pants leg out of her jaws, and looks around for something to drink.
Montegue says, "Gracious."
Charles says (to Montegue), "Here's your strategic advisor."
Sebastien says, "such as he is"
Sebastien stands up and looks mournfully at his bloodied shirt and muddied pants.

[ussura] Sebastien says, "see you in two weeks"
[ussura] Charles says, "Man. He rides up to see my straddling the corpse of a bug monster, my knife still embedded in its carapace. No wonder he thought he could rely on me to lead his forces against theirs."
Montegue says, "Edgar! Get these men and women something hot to eat, and fresh clothes."
[ussura] Charles says, "That poor misguided fool."
Era ripples back into a woman, and cradles one arm to her chest.
[ussura] GM says, "And, yup, that's a wrap."
