Pyotr arrives, looking for booty.

[ussura] GM asks (of schep), "Oh, we were chatting about stuff in general when you weren't around--are you OK with Alix telling you, "I think we have the spirit skins under control for now" so you two can do your own thing this evening?"
[ussura] Vasili says (to GM), "You feel more confident in your spell-casting abilities!"
[ussura] GM says (to Pyotr), "Yay"
[ussura] GM laughs.
[ussura] Pyotr says, "hey, just cause I agreed to play 7th sea doesn't mean I'm cutting short my anniversary dinner and boardgame"
[ussura] Vasili says, "that sounds fine. As long as our own thing is somehow helpful in the big picture."
[ussura] GM says, "(if you were particularly interested in the spirit skin plot, we could try to get you there)"
[ussura] GM says (to Pyotr), "Woo"
[ussura] GM asks, "*Today's* your anniversary?"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "it is"
[ussura] GM exclaims, "Happy anniversary!"
[ussura] Vasili says, "yay and congrats"
[ussura] Pyotr exclaims, "thanks!"
GM exclaims, "So!"
Pyotr says (to Vasili), "I'm dragging this lunk to the negotiation hall to see if I can find Tamara, to find out what he knows."
GM says, "When last we left our interepid adventurers, you were running through Pavtlow. Then you were dreaming."
Pyotr says, "Also, someone needs to keep her safe until we find the new Gaius."
Alix says (to Pyotr), "Tamara isn't here! We haven't seen her all evening."
Vasili says, "Good point. It is odd that she wasn't at the negotiations or with Era."
Pyotr says (to Alix), "Sure you haven't seen her, but she's the sort who will be in the center of things."
GM says, "Also: >INVENTORY In addition to your normal accoutrements, you are carrying: no axe."
[ussura] Pyotr asks, "how far did I get from the blacksmith?"
[ussura] GM says, "It is fairly close."
[ussura] Pyotr says, "cause if it's less than 15 minutes out of my way, I need that axe back"
[ussura] GM says, "Yup, definitely."
[ussura] GM says, "(You were on your way there when you found Pierre)"
Pyotr says, "Oh, and I think I'll need my axe."

Alix exclaims (at Pyotr), "OK! I'll let you know if we see her!"
Pyotr exclaims (at Blacksmith), "Ho there!"
Vasili says, "I dunno how much else the lunk would know, but we can't just leave him somewhere at a time like this."
Pyotr says (to Vasili), "If nothing else, he'll know who recruited him. And if we can find _that_ guy..."
[ussura] Pyotr says, "Also, schep approved on forum"
Blacksmith's shop is empty, but your axe is sitting on an outside table. It has a note on it saying, "If this isn't your axe, would you want its real owner coming after you?"

[ussura] Pyotr exclaims, "yay!"
Pyotr grabs his axe.
Vasili finishes reading the note, and laughs.
Pyotr tests the edge with his thumb, which he promptly cuts and sticks in his mouth.
GM says, "Also, there are increasing sounds of consternation and mayhem from the streets."
Pyotr says, "<muffled>Ow, sharp."
Pyotr says, "Let's go."
Vasili says, "It must be, if it can cut your thumb."

Pyotr asks (of Vasili), "That sound like a nobleman's pack of hunting dogs to you?"
Pyotr says, "Cause it doesn't to me, but I was hoping."
Vasili says, "Somehow I doubt it."

[ussura] Pyotr says (to vas), "ha ha"
Pyotr says, "Good thing this guy eats that weedy Montaigne food."
[ussura] GM says, "(er, the right)"
Pyotr says, "If he ate beef, I'd never be able to carry him so far."
Vasili says, "I think they eat beef, but only one bite per meal."
[ussura] GM asks, "Hmm, I guess that's bits of a moat?"
[ussura] GM says, "Those bits are still frozen over, though the two main rivers are still flowing."
[ussura] Pyotr says, "okay"
[ussura] GM says, "As you get closer, you see flames."
Pyotr says, "That doesn't look good."
GM says, "The negotiation hall seems to be in the center of it--by the time you're within sight, the flames have spread from that block halfway up the next one."
Vasili says, "First time it's ever seemed there's not enough snow to go around."
[ussura] Sebastien says, "whuh-oh"
Pyotr says (to Alix), "You guys okay in there? The fire looks pretty bad from out here."
[ussura] Pyotr says, "(I just want a 'yes we're fine' 'well, the walls are kind of ON FIRE' answer)"
Alix exclaims (at Pyotr), "<cough cough> Yeah, we're fine! Although I am afraid my shirt has some soot on the cuff!"
Pyotr asks (of Vasili), "Maybe if we went around back?"
[ussura] Pyotr asks, "anyone trying to put out the fire, or everyone running?"
distant_howl exclaims, "(louder this time) Arooooo!"
GM says, "Many people are fleeing, but a few seem to be rushing around with some sort of intent."
[ussura] GM asks, "Any particular goal you have here?"
[ussura] GM asks, "Or need more description of something?"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "ideally I'd like to get inside, but I'll settle for cirling the building and looking for anyone particularly in charge"
[ussura] Vasili says, "or anyone we recognize would be interesting."

GM says, "As you continue to get closer, the chaos increases. You get within a block of the building, and suddenly shy away as an immense 2-story building next to you erupts in flames."
GM says, "You're still in the corridor between buildings, but the wind is blowing west, and sparks and cinders are starting to drift over the inner wall."
Vasili says (to Alix), "I'm starting to think we should all be getting out of the neighborhood."
Pyotr says, "Yeah."
Pyotr says, "Let's finish checking this out and see if we can go find Charles, Era, and Rae, I guess."
Pyotr says, "This guy's going to wake up soon, and either he'll want to go see Rae or I'll slug him again."
Vasili says, "He seemed bright enough to figure that one out, at least."
GM says, "You circle the block and watch as the fire spreads north."
Pyotr keeps an eye out for someone official looking.
Vasili says, "Guess everybody who's not wrapped up saving the Tiger is long gone."
Pyotr says, "Yeah."
[ussura] Pyotr says, "okay, none of my ideas of Things To Do Here seem to have panned out"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "unless vasili has an idea or Something Cool Happens, I guess it's off to the other location"
[ussura] GM asks, "Hmm, sorry. You're looking for Tamara, and what else?"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "well, if we could have gone in to help Alix and Seb that'd have been nice"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "but hardly critical"
[ussura] Vasili says, "or 'Borin' or the Wolf guy, or help out inside."
[ussura] GM says, "Were it another night, you could do so ;-)"
[ussura] GM says, "Oh, duh, right."
GM exclaims (at Pyotr), "Hey, that looks like the guy you killed those years ago!"
GM says, "He's running away to the north."
[ussura] Sebastien says, "ha ha"
Pyotr exclaims, "hey! You! Stop or I'll kill you again!"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "ha ha more"
Pyotr dumps Pierre and chases.
Vasili says, "!"
[ussura] Pyotr asks, "this is headstrong, right?"
Borin runs away, and darts into an alley!
[ussura] Pyotr says, "or hot-headed"
[ussura] GM says, "Hee, sure."
Vasili says, "Hey, wait up! We're trying to help you!"
Pyotr follows into the alley, bouncing slightly against the far wall.
GM tosses a drama die to Pyotr, because just as you follow Borin into the alley, the building to the south erupts into flame!
Vasili says, "He was just kidding about killing you!"
Borin (from the sudden smoke) "Help! Help!"
[ussura] Vasili asks, "er, also Pierre wakes up and runs away, right?"
Pyotr exclaims, "We'll help!"
Pyotr races on, looking for Borin.
Borin (cough cough)
GM exclaims, "Roll Perception!"
Vasili says, "Back this way!"

Pyotr exclaims, "Come on! This way!"
Pyotr grabs Borin, throws his flat, flops down, and yells, "Start crawling back!"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "er, him flat."
Borin says, "You're not... not going to kill me? Ack."
Pyotr says, "Not today."
GM exclaims, "The three of you get halfway out of the alley when a flaming support beam falls in your path!"
Vasili says, "Ack"
Pyotr says, "Can't go under it...."
[ussura] Pyotr asks, "how high are the flames?"
[ussura] GM says, "Mabye 3-4 feet"
Pyotr says, "Right, we're going over."
Pyotr grabs Borin again, backs up, and takes a running leap through the flames.
[ussura] GM says, "The beam has fallen across the alley, and landed against the building on the other side, setting that building on fire as well."
[ussura] GM says, "Hmm, leaping? Running? Something with Brawn."
[ussura] Pyotr says, "too bad I didn't take leaping. I've got Sprinting"
Vasili grabs a handful of the fast-melting snow from the side of the alley and tosses it at a low spot on the beam.

Vasili's snow suppresses a portion of the fire surprisingly well.
Pyotr (with Borin in tow) comes sailing out of the flames, his boots and beard starting to smoulder. They land and quickly flop into a snowbank, which starts to smell like scorched leather.
Pyotr exclaims, "Look at this! I've never shaved this beard!"
Borin says, "(cough cough) Thank you..."
Pyotr says, "It'll never grow the same, you know."
Vasili races out right behind.
Pyotr says (to Borin), "Right, we're taking you, and..."
Pyotr asks (of Vasili), "Er, um. Did you grab Pierre, by any chance?"
Vasili says, "Wolf's after you, if you didn't know. Better stick with us."
Vasili says, "Well, no. Hope he's all right."
Borin asks, "Me? What does he want with me?"
Pyotr says, "Okay, we're getting Pierre, and then heading someplace safe"
Vasili asks, "Beats me. By the way, what's your name?"
Pyotr says (to Borin), "You've just entered Matushka's protection program."
Borin says (to Vasili), "Borin v'Pscov"
Vasili says, "That's impossible. His eyes are green."
Borin asks, "You mean.. you mean I don't look like him any more?"
Vasili says, "And besides, you really DON'T want to be him right now."
Borin exclaims, "I never did!"
Vasili says, "Well..."
Pyotr says (to Borin), "Don't worry, we know you don't have the drachen skin, either."
Pyotr says, "Anyway, come with us for your safety."
[ussura] Pyotr says, "I was really tempted to try 'Come with me if you want to live', but since there's no Castillians around to say 'Hasta la vista', it's a loss."
GM says, "You run around to where you left Pierre, where you find a swiftly-melting indent in the snow. Tracks run south, which you follow south across a bridge. You turn a corner, and..."
[ussura] Pyotr exclaims, "wait, wait!"
[ussura] GM asks, "Oh?"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "I'm not following after Pierre that easily"
[ussura] GM asks, "Alright; where do you want to go?"
Pyotr says (to Vasili), "He'll find us again, if he wants to protect Rae, I bet."
[ussura] Vasili says, "If he's conscious, that's good enough for me."
Vasili says, "At least he's not burning up. Most likely."
Pyotr says, "he might take a swing at me first, but that's okay with me."
[ussura] GM says, "OK, sure. His tracks run south; buildings are on fire; Borin is sticking with you."
[ussura] Pyotr says, "I'm not opposed to following him"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "I just wanted to discuss it first"
[ussura] GM says, "Geez, I don't care ;-)"
[ussura] Pyotr exclaims (at GM), "with vasili!"
[ussura] GM says, "Hee"
[ussura] GM exclaims, "Discuss away!"
Vasili says, "Well, now we've got two people we're protecting. Might as well get together and figure out where to hide or go."
Pyotr says, "Yeah, sounds good."
Pyotr says, "Come on, guy."
Vasili asks, "So, changed your mind about your name, then?"
Pyotr heads away from the fire and towards the palace (where Era, rae, and hopefully Charles are).
GM says, "Hmm."
[ussura] GM says, "I can't see where on this map you can get in this inner wall."
[ussura] GM says, "But we'll say there's a gate in its middle."
[ussura] GM says, "(of the east)"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "okay"
Vasili stomps out few sparks which land nearby as they move.
GM says, "And *now* you go through a gate, turn a corner, and see a wolf pack surrounding a prostrate figure on the ground."
Pyotr tells Alix and Era about who they found.
[ussura] Pyotr says, "ha ha"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "also, sorry"
Pyotr exclaims, "Hey!"
Pyotr says (to Borin), "Stay with me."
Pyotr pulls out his axe and races to help.
Vasili asks (of guy), "You any good with weapons?"
wolf makes a tearing motion with his jaws, and as you race forward, you see a *twisting* before being leapt upon by six wolves!
[ussura] GM exclaims, "Pyotr, you get one action, and then we'll roll initiative!"
[ussura] GM says, "(these wolves are a brute squad, TN 20, meaning that you can take a raise to try to off more than one of them)"
Vasili offers the guy a spare knife either way.
Borin says (to Vasili), "Thank you..."
Pyotr stares into the wolves' eyes, as he swings at the first three wolves.
[ussura] Pyotr says, "I forget what wacky color Pyeryem eyes are"
[ussura] Vasili says, "green"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "anyway, I get a free raise, and that's another raise, so"
[ussura] GM says, "They are green; the wolves who are attacking you are not green."

[ussura] GM says, "Oh, OK--there are more down the alley, of course."

Pyotr jumps in front of the last wolf as it begins to growl.

Pyotr asks, "Need some help?"

Vasili says, "Man. Not you guys too."
Vasili stabs the weird man.

GM exclaims, "The final pack of four manage to slip past Pyotr in the fray, and attack Vasili!"

[ussura] Sebastien says, "I believe the wolves rolled 5k3 to attack and 3k3 for damage"
[ussura] GM asks (of V), "What's your TN?"
[ussura] Vasili says, "25"
[ussura] GM says, "No, brute squads do damage based on how well they overshoot."
[ussura] Vasili says, "huh, okay"
[ussura] GM says, "The 3k3 was the group of 3 wolves attacking Borin."
[ussura] GM says, "In that case, they do 6 flesh wounds to Vasili."

[ussura] GM says, "(the number of wolves is the number of dice rolled; the number kept is their threat rating)"
[ussura] GM exclaims, "Phase 6!"
[ussura] GM exclaims, "Wolves, again!"

wolves miss Pyotr, who fends them off handily with his axe.

Borin takes another nasty gash in the leg as a wolf latches on!

[ussura] GM asks, "Oooh, exact. That's a non-dramatic?"
Vasili flinches, but just looks angrier.
[ussura] Vasili says, "yup"
[ussura] GM exclaims, "Phase 7! Vasili!"
[ussura] Vasili says, "hm, hm. Raise and drama die again, I guess."

[ussura] GM asks, "Attacking the ones on you, or on Borin?"
Vasili runs up to the wolf on Borin's leg, but the wolf jumps aside.
[ussura] GM says, "You know, maybe I should let poor Borin defend himself ;-)"
[ussura] Vasili asks, "or wait, were they 20 or 25?"
[ussura] GM says, "They were just 20."
[ussura] Vasili says, "I hit!"
[ussura] GM exclaims, "That's a hit and 2 taken out!"
Vasili lunges to stab it anyway, then spins around to take out the one nearest his heels.
[ussura] GM asks, "Leaving 2 on Borin and 3 on you?"
[ussura] Vasili says, "yeah, that"
[ussura] GM says, "Gotcha."
Borin stabs at the two remaining wolves with his borrowed knife!

Borin curses the wolves soundly.
[ussura] GM exclaims, "Phase 9 is everyone at once!"
[ussura] GM exclaims, "Pyotr, Vasili, Wolves!"
[ussura] GM says, "Lemme roll for the wolves first."

[ussura] Pyotr says, "I am"

Pyotr shrugs off the wolves' teeth.
GM says, "One of the wolves finally slips around and manages to snap at Pyotr's exposed back."
GM says, "But doesn't do much damage."

GM says, "Borin finally figures out how to defend himself, and staves of his two wolves."

Vasili waves his knife around ineffectively as a wolf snaps in for another little bite.

[ussura] Vasili asks, "er, is that two?"
GM exclaims, "But the wolves on Vasili take advantage of his move to help Borin, and take a gash out of his arm!"
[ussura] GM says, "Nope, just 1."
[ussura] GM says, "Have to miss by 20 for two."
[ussura] GM says, "(or be a firearm)"
[ussura] Vasili says, "ah"
[ussura] GM exclaims, "Pyotr!"
Pyotr attacks three of his wolves, again.
[ussura] Pyotr says, "with a drama"

[ussura] Pyotr says, "an unnecessary drama, but hey. could hit all five"
Pyotr takes out the three nearest wolves.

Pyotr finishes off the two in the alley, and heads back out to help Vasili and Borin.

Vasili swings at the one that opened his bleeding wound, but just misses.

Vasili stabs again, and takes it down.
[ussura] GM says, "Total of 4 left; 2 on Borin, 2 on Vasili."
[ussura] GM says, "Phase 2! Pyotr."
Pyotr gos to help Borin.

[ussura] GM exclaims, "You get 'em both!"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "when I try to hit a bunch, I roll low. when I only try for two..."
[ussura] GM says, "Hee"
Pyotr swats both wolves away from Borin.
remaining_wolves turn to flee!
[ussura] GM says, "They are running away on 3; Pyotr can use his action to try to get 'em as they go."
[ussura] GM says, "(there are 2 left)"
Pyotr chases the two wolves and gets one last swing at them.

(From Pyotr) Two more wolves fall to the ground.
Borin sinks heavily to the ground in relief.
Borin says, "Thank you, I thought I was..."
Pyotr goes back to poke at weirdwolf's body.
Pyotr takes out his knife. *poke* *poke*
Borin asks, "Did that... did that wolf take that man's skin?"
Vasili pulls a rag out of his pack, rips it into a few strips, applies one to his own arm, and helps Borin with the others.
Vasili says, "That's what it looked like."
Pyotr asks, "I guess it's the opposite of you taking a wolf's skin, huh?"
Pyotr asks, "that's what you guys call the magic, right?"
Vasili says, "But that doesn't usually happen."
Vasili says, "But I guess a lot of things aren't the usual any more."
Vasili says, "Soon as you catch your breath, we ought to keep moving."
GM says (to Pyotr), "As you watch, a twisting grey mass emerges from the weirdwolf. It looks vaguely (but unsurprisingly) like the figure that still lies in the alley. It looks at you gratefully, then dissipates into the wind."
Pyotr says, "Yeah, I'm good."
Pyotr asks, "Ywo two okay?"
Pyotr exclaims, "Whoa!"
Pyotr says, "Okay, let's definitely get out of here."
Pyotr says, "Normally I'd stay to bury this guy, but today I don't think it's urgent."
GM says, "As you collect your breath, you smell more smoke. You look east and see more sparks and flame coming over the inner wall."
Pyotr asks, "Can you two move fast?"
Pyotr says, "Cause we need to."
Vasili says, "No problem."
Borin says, "I... think I can."
Pyotr says, "Okay, let's run."
Pyotr starts running towards the palace, keeping the pace slow enough for Borin to keep up.
[ussura] Vasili asks, "YM clock tower?"
[ussura] Pyotr asks, "I thought that was in the palace?"
Era_ says (to Pyotr&V), "Are you two OK? We're going to try to meet everyone <place>."
[ussura] Pyotr says, "I am so confused about the geography, apparently."
[ussura] GM says, "The clock tower is indeed the palace."
[ussura] Vasili says, "I thought the negotiations were at the palace. Anyway, we're heading west."
Pyotr says (to Era), "We've had some trouble. keep an eye out for wolf packs in the city."
[ussura] Vasili says, "Oh."
Pyotr says (to Era), "But we'll try to get there. oh, and we have the fake Borin."
[ussura] GM says, "The negotiations were in a hall on the outskirts of the city."
[ussura] Pyotr says, "I guess we're headed to <Place>"
Era_ exclaims (at Pyotr), "Oh good!"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "and, unless there's something more short to do, this seems like a good stopping point for me"
[ussura] GM says, "Yeah, that's what I was thinking."
[ussura] Pyotr exclaims, "okay, thanks!"
GM says, "You make your way through the city, fighting off more roving packs of wolves and trying to avoid burning buildings."
GM says, "The city is emptying, and most people are fleeing north."
GM exclaims, "As for the rest, we shall find out on Saturday!"
[ussura] GM says, "Thanks, guys."
[ussura] Pyotr says, "thank you"
Pyotr has disconnected.
Pyotr goes home.
[ussura] Vasili says, "yup, a nice little session"
Vasili has disconnected.
GM says, "Oh, right:"
Sebastien says, "ha ha"
GM tosses both of the departed players a couple drama dice, which they will discover upon reading the logs ;-)
You exclaim, "Log off!"
