GM says (to Alix), "You've just flown into a Porte hole, trying to follow Fleur."

Alixandre, flustered, looks for the source of the whisper.

Sebastien's_Voice exclaims, "Come, look! I've found fresh handkerchieves and bathing salts!"

GM says, "As you fly into the hole, you find yourself back in your normal form again, and roll to a stop on... a floor of some kind."

[interludes] Charles asks, "Um. So what do we do if he looks at the first opportunity?"

Alixandre calms his breathing and looks around, perhaps a bit more wide-eyed than normal.

[interludes] Weak_whisper says, "d'oh"

GM says (to Alix), "Well, *just before* you do that, you suddenly remember that it's supposed to be *very bad* to open your eyes inside a Porte hole."

GM says, "(You hadn't reached the other side or anything yet)"

Alixandre mutter mutter stupid other magic, form with keen vision, mutter.

Alixandre tries instead feeling his way forward and listening intently.

Verte chortles and cackles around Alix's head.

Weak_whisper asks, "Can't... go on... why won't you help?"

Alixandre asks, "Where are you? _Who_ are you?"

Weak_whisper says, "Look for me"

Woman says, "It's alright. Just try to ignore them and walk this way."

Alixandre moves again towards the woman.

Devoe's voice echoes from a distance away, "Oh? Hmm."

[ussura] Alixandre asks, "Can I hear the wolf again?"

Woman says, "There is a terrible beast here with us. But you must ignore it and listen only to the sound of my voice."

growl growls.

growl says, "Not that way."

Alixandre murmurs, "Techek? Do you return to guide me true?"

growl says, "Put your hand forward and feel my back."

Woman says, "The doorway is straight in front of you now. You need only look through it, and we will both be free."

Alixandre feels for Techek.

Verte snarls at growl.

GM says (to Alix), "It's very insubstantial, but the feeling of familiarity overwhelms you as your hand brushes through the sensation of fur."

growl says, "This way. I can smell her."

K-Y arrives, looking for booty.

Alixandre moves as gracefully as possible when you're hunched over and feeling a wolf's back.

Verte hisses in Alix's ear.

Alixandre . o O ( I have been following this wolf for most of my life, it seems. )

GM says, "Suddenly, from in front of you, you hear a ripping sound, and a rush of air blows over your face."

Alixandre moves towards the air!

Verte shrieks!

GM says (to Alix), "And as you reach into the cold..."

Fleur exclaims, "He's behind me! Get him!"

GM says, "**CLANG**"

[ussura] Alixandre says, "How unfortunate."

Marceau says, "Uh, that's not Devoe."

GM says, "And you lose consciousness."

GM tosses a drama die to Alix.

[ussura] Alixandre exclaims, "yay!"

GM says, "A bit later, you wake up sitting under a tree, with your hands tied behind your back."

[ussura] Alixandre says, "man, that was more nerve-wracking than I would have expected."

Alixandre says, "Mmmf."

GM says, "You regain concsiousness before you open your eyes, though."

[interludes] GM says, "(yay)"

Alixandre listens and looks through slitted eyes.

GM says, "A little ways off, you see Fleur and Marceau talking."

[ussura] Alixandre asks, "Can I hear them?"

[interludes] GM says, "A bit. Let's see."

[ussura] GM says, "A bit. Let's see."

Fleur says (to Marceau), "...lost Devoe. Thank goodness."

Marceau asks, "But what about him?"

Marceau says, "He got me hot water for a bath."

[ussura] Alixandre says, "Ah, the kindness of fops"

Fleur mutters something you can't quite hear.

Marceau sighs, shrugs, and moves off, seemingly to pack stuff up.

[ussura] Charles is AFK for a few.

[ussura] GM says, "Sure."

[ussura] Alixandre asks, "Any chance I could remove these bonds?"

[ussura] GM asks, "Any relevant skills?"

[ussura] Alixandre says, "I would bet you won't buy 'unobtrusive'"

[ussura] GM says, "Hee"

Fleur peers over at you. "You awake?"

Alixandre says, "Ah, my savior. I do thank you for leading me through that terrible place."

Fleur rolls her eyes.

Alixandre says, "It is true that you make it seem easier when you do it."

Fleur says, "You were a fool to follow me. Moreso than Devoe."

Fleur says, "He at least had nowhere else to go."

Fleur says, "Or at least, nowhere else once he jumped."

Fleur says, "While you were out, I took the liberty of blooding something of yours."

Alixandre has disconnected.

Alixandre has connected.

Alixandre says, "I cannot say that I am glad to hear of you blooding items of mine."

Alixandre says, "My trip through the portal was enough connection to Porte for me."

Fleur grins.

Fleur says, "Just don't try to sneak away. I'll know where you are."

Alixandre says, "My lady, I am entirely in your power."

Fleur says, "Right. Well, go help Marceau pack up. We leave in an hour."

Fleur goes around behind you and cuts the ropes binding your hands.

Alixandre rubs his hands to improve the circulation and then follows Fleur's instructions.

Alixandre says (to Marceau), "Not the most pleasant person to be around, I must admit."

Marceau shakes his head, sighs. "Isn't she amazing?"

Alixandre says, "I am certainly amazed, I will admit."

Marceau says (to Alix), "If you get home, uh, don't... Don't tell anyone I abandoned Devoe."

Alixandre says, "I fear I share some of that responsibility. He remains trapped in that Porte neverwhere."

Marceau shakes his head.

Marceau says, "I've been through there a couple times now, and it freaks me out every time."

Alixandre asks, "Does Fleur lead you through by the hand?"

Marceau says, "It was worth it, though, to stay with her."

Marceau gazes fondly at Fleur.

Marceau nods.

[Crows-Nest] Vasili asks, "How long before Raelynn and Marceau are involved in a zany mixup?"

[ussura] GM asks, "So, in the interest of fast-forwarding a bit, what do you want to be your general plan?"

[Crows-Nest] GM says, "Hee hee"

[ussura] Alixandre says, "My general plan: get Marceau to talk lovingly of Fleur and her plans and see what she has in store. At some point I shall attempt to escape, probably by becoming a wolf and running. Fleur is welcome to keep porting in to where I was a few seconds ago."

[ussura] GM says, "Heh."

[ussura] Alixandre says, "the escape part I may modify depending on what information trips off of Marceau's lips."

[ussura] GM says, "OK, so: The general plan seems to be that Fleur and Marceau are travelling tothe Kosars (the 7th Sea equivalent of Cossacks)."

[ussura] Alixandre asks, "Any word on who their contact with the Kosars is?"

[ussura] GM says, "The Kosars have been general rampaging barbarians with fantastic horses for a while, but their new leader has carved out a section of the land and is getting his people to settle there."

[ussura] GM says, "They don't seem to have a specific contact, but Fleur believes they will take what help they can."

[ussura] GM says, "It's about a 3-day journey west of Breslau."

[ussura] Alixandre asks, "aha. Any point on their journey that I would judge to be a better time to leave and head off for Breslau?"

[ussura] GM says, "Hmm."

[ussura] Alixandre asks, "with an aim towards finding someone to point me towards Tamara?"

[ussura] GM says, "The main thing would be whether you want to meet the Kosars yourself or not. You're heading almost due west, and you know Breslau is east (since it's next to the fire wall)"

[ussura] Alixandre asks, "Any clue why she's keeping me alive and with her?"

[ussura] Alixandre asks, "Other than my being a PC means I am fascinating?"

[ussura] GM says, "Hee"

[ussura] GM says, "She doesn't seem to actively dislike you, just doesn't want you telling people where she is."

[ussura] Alixandre says, "ah yes."

[ussura] GM says, "The first day of travel she and Marceau keep a very watchful eye on you, but as you get further away, they relax a bit."

[ussura] Alixandre says, "I'd like to wait for a night when I can slip away and run for it, leaving behind only a polite note thanking her for her hospitality and promising to see here agin."

Marceau says (to Alix), "So, you're a bonifide diplomat, right? I bet the Kosars would love to be actually recognized by a major Thean country."

[Crows-Nest] Vasili asks, "why, do you have experiences leaving that kind of note when slipping out at night?"

Alixandre says, "I am indeed a diplomat, though without portfolio."

[Crows-Nest] Alixandre says, "One should always be polite to a host, regardless of the host's feelings on the matter."

Marceau says, "Oh, like they're going to notice."

[Crows-Nest] GM says, "Hee"

Alixandre says, "I've had no contact with Montaigne since before the war, though they have granted diplomats a fair amount of lattitude in the past."

Alixandre asks, "What is it the Kosars are seeking?"

Marceau says, "They want to be recognized as their own province, at least, or country, at best. Sent an ambassador to see the Gaius and everything. Who was killed before he got in the palace."

Marceau says, "Ussurans are slow to forget all the raiding they've experienced at their hands over the last century."

Alixandre says, "I find that understandable."

Alixandre asks, "I assume Fleur expects to be feted as a powerful sorcerer who will support the Kosaks?"

Marceau says, "I think she's a bit more level-headed than that, but I she figures she can be kept safe from her father's goons in exchange for her sorcery, yes."

[ussura] Marceau says, "Er, s/I she/I think she/"

Alixandre says, "It's unfortunate that she would have to turn to currently-unrecognized politica powers to be safe."

Marceau says, "She gave up on the Ussurans when they sent the guard after her in Sredbirskyoye."

Marceau says, "Then she thought she'd have an in with Dreng, but that didn't turn out too well, either."

Marceau says, "I promised to help her, though, and that's what I'm doing."

Alixandre asks, "How did Devoe become mixed up in this?"

Marceau says, "You didn't figure that out? Well, it's moot now anyway."

Marceau says, "Devoe was informed a few months ago that we'd be at war with Ussura soon."

Alixandre says, "A bit of information I could have used earlier, I must admit."

Marceau says, "He had been completely snubbed at court by Tamara's sister, so he jumped at the chance to help."

Marceau says, "He found out that Dreng was being held at that monastery, and decided to go free him to stir up a civil war, figuring that would keep Gallenia from supplying the front lines with troops."

Marceau says, "Something weird happened when we freed Dreng. There were all these wolves..."

Marceau shudders.

Marceau says, "But we got him away in the end, then set him loose to go round up an army."

Alixandre says, "That bit did work quite well."

Marceau says, "A few weeks later, we went to go join him. Well, everyone but me, I mean."

Marceau says, "Left me behind in case anyone else showed up. Which you did."

Marceau says, "After I met Fleur, I convinced her that she'd be safe with Dreng and Devoe."

Marceau says, "But Devoe was... cruel to her."

Alixandre says, "She didn't seem pleased with him, no."

Marceau says, "So in the end, we worked out an escape plan. I'd take her blooded stone with a couple horses to the west, and be ready to whallop Devoe when he came through the portal after her, and we'd escape."

Marceau asks, "Er... how's your head?"

Alixandre says, "Tender, but healing well. I fear my hair will need a lot of de-matting and de-tangling."

[ussura] Alixandre says, "Eli warning: in about five minutes I'm going to have to go read him a story and put him to bed"

[ussura] Alixandre says, "I'll be out for about ten minutes"

[Crows-Nest] GM says, "Alrighty."

[ussura] Era says, "and had creepy voices whispering at him until he got hit on the head."

GM says, "It was just before a blizzard came through the area, so they figured they hadn't gotten very far. But there were two main passes they might be heading towards, so you decide to randomly split the party into the group of you all that are here today, and a group that is not here today."

[ussura] Vasili says, "Oh, my character concept has given Vasili a rather American English idiom, but assume it's something corresponding in Ussuran."

[ussura] GM asks, "So, hmm. It says 'a number of your friends'; I assume you're interpreting it that you can pick the friends that hear?"

[ussura] GM says (to Vasili), "Hee, sure."

[ussura] Charles says, "I was, yeah."

[ussura] GM says, "I guess it makes sense that it at least wouldn't be a friend that was with you."

[ussura] Charles says, "In theory, I could have any number of friends, PC's and NPC's."

The first couple nights you didn't have a good opportunity to escape, and then a blizzard came up and you've all been hunkered down for a few days after that, and then the next afternoon you heard Charles calling for you. You could tell he was, hmm, maybe half a day's journey to the southeast."

Charles says, "I wonder if that worked. I've never had need to try it before."

Alixandre has a moment where he closes his eyes in case he is back in Porte-land and hearing Charles, then shakes it off.

Alixandre makes plans for an escape to the southeast.

GM says, "In the meantime, the two of your groups continue to head west, Fleur and Marceau leading through the southern of the two passes, and the other half of the original group heading towards the northern one."

[Crows-Nest] (from Vasili) GM says, "You approach the top of the pass. Marching order, please."

Era continues her flying patterns to search for Alix & co.

GM says, "Heh."

[ussura] GM asks (of Era), "Do you fly some at night, too?"

[Crows-Nest] Alixandre says, "that's for the movie trailer that shows how we can digitally shrink people."

[ussura] Era says, "I don't think goshawks are great night fliers/hunters. Not sure about their vision in the dark. Good question."

[ussura] GM says, "Arr, hmm, trying to come up with a good scene here."

GM says, "OK, so, that night, Fleur is asleep, and Marceau seems a bit more distracted than normal."

GM exclaims, "So here's your chance!"

[ussura] Alixandre asks, "How distracted is Marceau? 'Knock him out' distracted or 'you can sneak away' distracted?"

Era is out prowling about four-footedly, nose to the ground.

[ussura] GM says, "He seems restless, wandering around the campfire area and pacing more often than he did before the blizzard."

[ussura] Alixandre asks, "Do we have any alcohol with us?"

[ussura] GM asks, "...Yes? Sure, what do you have in mind?"

Era hears a rustle in the bushes, and darts after hare. A few moments later, she emerges with a few drops of blood around her muzzle.

Alixandre fetches some of the Ussuran spirits they have with them and offers the bottle to Marceau. "Here. It is unseemingly cold tonight, and you could do with some warming."

Marceau accepts the bottle and drinks.

Era licks her fur clean.

Alixandre says, "You appear concerned," while gently encouraging Marceau to take another swig.

Marceau says, "I'm just restless. Being hunkered down for all that time with nothing but the howling wind? I'll be glad when we're in a actual house with a hot fire again."

Vasili says (to Era), "More of the travelin' jerky for me, if you can find your own meals like that."

Alixandre takes the bottle and tips it to his mouth, his tongue sealing the opening so he drinks nothing.

Marceau takes the bottle back and drinks some more.

Era laugh/barks at Vasili.

[Crows-Nest] Vasili says, "The difference between Marceau and Alix is like the difference between an iron skillet and a bottle of vodka."

[Crows-Nest] Alixandre says, "hee hee"

Alixandre says, "It should not be long, I must admit."

Era trots over to a stream, and takes a long drink, before continuing her search.

Marceau nods, paces some more, takes another swig, wobbles a bit.

Alixandre says, "Here, sit and put your back to the fire."

Alixandre says, "We're quite the pair, both a long way from Montaigne."

Marceau waves you off. "Nah, warmer this way.

Era points her nose at the sky, and howls.

Marceau paces back and forth, watching the forest.

Marceau stops. "Woah."

Era listens for any answering howls and barks. Any wolves out there?

GM says (to Alix), "That howl sounded pretty familar."

Alixandre asks, "Didn't you mention...wolves attacking you and Fleur earlier?"

Alixandre shifts, as if worried.

Marceau says, "No, the monastery."

Marceau shivers.

Marceau stops pacing and just stares out at the forest.

Alixandre asks, "We are not in a monastery, so I am certain we are safe -- eh, what's that in the forest?"

Marceau asks, "Where?"

Alixandre drops his voice to a whisper. "Did you see glittering eyes?"

Era howls again, listening for any faint answering howl.

Marceau says, "No! Sheesh, you're freaking me out."

Marceau asks, "Man, they are out there, aren't they?"

Alixandre says, "I...I am concerned."

Alixandre takes another pretend swig from the bottle.

Marceau nods.

Marceau says, "Better build up the fire some."

Era exclaims (at Alix), "Shift! Run!"

Alixandre says, "I'll go get more wood."

[ussura] Era says, "sorry, channel."

Alixandre heads towards the forest.

Marceau says, "I, uh, better stay with Fleur."

[ussura] Vasili says, "nah, knock him out and tie em both up."

Alixandre says, "I understand. I won't be long."

[ussura] GM says, "Oh, I thought you were wolf-speaking."

Alixandre glances at the forest.

Alixandre says, "I am too afraid of the wolves to tarry in the woods."

[ussura] Era says, "I suppose I could. Good thought."

Alixandre moves into the forest's shadows.

Marceau puts some more wood on the fire.

[ussura] Vasili says, "then again, he knows there's a good chance Fleur will come right to us anyway if he stops nearby."

Alixandre, once he is far enough into the woods, rips his coat sleeve and snags it on a branch, then shifts and howls at Era.

[ussura] GM asks, "What's the coat sleeve for?"

Era howls back! Even a non-wolf can tell the change in pitch.

[ussura] Charles says (to Vasili), "Making it that much easier for us to catch her..."

Marceau exclaims, "Holy! That's right where Alixandre was!"

[ussura] Alixandre says (to GM), "if Marceau comes looking, I'd like him to find that as a remnant."

Marceau charges into the forest.

Marceau exclaims, "Alixandre! I'm coming!"

[ussura] Alixandre says, "since I was EATEN BY WOLVES"

Era races back to the group, then races back to the forest, then races back to the group, grabs Vasili's sleeve, and pulls him along toward the forest.

[ussura] Charles exclaims, "You are *inside* that wolf!"

[ussura] Era exclaims, "I get to do a Lassie routine - whee!"

Alixandre lope lope lope.

Charles says, "This is unlike you."

Marceau races around. "Alixandre! Alixandre!"

Era whines, barks, and takes off running.

Charles follows, nontheless.

Vasili says, "Guess we caught up."

[ussura] GM asks (of Alix), "You're just heading away?"

[ussura] Era asks, "southeast, right?"

[ussura] GM says (to Era), "Well, towards you at this point."

[ussura] Alixandre says, "towards Era's howls, yes."

[ussura] GM says, "But yes."

[ussura] GM says, "It doesn't take long before you leave Marceau's cries behind you."

Alixandre howls, "Fleur, Marceau behind me. Blooded something of mine."

[ussura] GM exclaims, "And then... there's Era, leading Charles and some guy you've never seen before!"

[ussura] Era says, "right, Alix is heading southeast, not me. I'm heading towards the howl."

[ussura] Era exclaims, "sweet! we can go capture Marcau & Fleur!"

[ussura] Alixandre says, "I'm game"

[Crows-Nest] Vasili says, "I'm sure wolf-speak for 'Marceau' describes his odor. Eww."

[ussura] Era says, "or just rip their throats out. but that might be short-sighted."

Charles asks (of Era), "Who is that wolf? Friend or enemy?"

Alixandre tries to look harmless.

Era wags her tail.

Vasili asks, "Does it know where the fop and the bad guys are?"

Alixandre jerks his head back the way he came.

Charles says (to Wolf), "Right. Lead on, then."

Alixandre lope, lope, lope.

Era darts after Alix.

[ussura] Charles asks, "So, if he's in wolf form, does that mean he's left behind anything she may have blooded?"

[ussura] GM says, "Ones clothes shift with you when you change."

[ussura] Alixandre says, "perhaps she blooded that part of the sleeve that I left behind"

[ussura] Vasili says, "I thought in this campaign, his possessions are magically with him and intangible"

[ussura] GM says, "You're actually not sure if it's detectable whilst shifted."

Era sniffs around for the bad guys, and goes silent as soon as she smells them.

Alixandre, too, goes quiet.

[ussura] GM asks (of Era,Alix), "Are you two running ahead, or staying as a group?"

[ussura] Alixandre says, "I figure keeping the others with us, though with us a bit ahead"

Charles readies his knives and peers into the darkness.

[ussura] GM says, "So, a few minutes later, you're close to the campsite again. You can just see the flickering of the fire through the trees."

[ussura] Era says, "I'm ahead, but only by about 50 feet or so."

[ussura] Alixandre says, "I have no weapons, so I expect I'll fight as wolf."

[ussura] Alixandre says, "Also, in terms of her being able to track me as a wolf, I'll point out that I lost my shapeshifting when I was in the midst of a Porte teleport."

[ussura] Era says, "as soon as I'm in range, I'm going to attack them. preferably Fleur, but I'm not picky."

[ussura] GM asks (of Alix), "What are you thinking as far as that goes?"

[ussura] Alixandre says, "about whether she could track a blooded possession that was subsumed by my transformation"

[ussura] Alixandre says, "i.e. NO"

[ussura] GM says, "Heh."

[ussura] GM says, "On the theory that shape-shifting seems to be somewhat incompatible with Porte? I can see that."

[ussura] Alixandre says, "yeah"

[ussura] GM says, "But you will have to find out yourself some day ;-)"

[ussura] GM asks (of Era), "So you're springing into the clearing?"

[ussura] Era says, "I'm springing *on* someone. I think I'd have some element of surprise, since I can be silent as a wolf. He'd hear the party coming up, but not Alix and I in front."

[ussura] Era says, "I'm assuming Alix would be silent too."

[ussura] Alixandre says, "I hope so"

GM says, "Era slips through the trees up to the edge of the clearing, watching for any movement. But she sees nothing."

[ussura] Vasili says, "and actually, I have a crazy good Stealth roll too."

[ussura] Era says, "If I can't see anything, I use my keen hearing and keen smell."

[ussura] Era asks, "should I roll?"

[ussura] GM says, "OK, gimme a perception roll, then."

[ussura] GM says, "You can definitely smell Fleur around here, and Alixandre, and some other guy you can't remember, but you don't hear anything but the crackling of the fire."

GM says (to Charles), "Give me a perception roll with a bonus 1k0."

[ussura] Vasili says, "huh"

[ussura] Alixandre says, "I'll give a sniff as well"

Charles says quietly, "Something's not right here."

[ussura] Era says, "nuts. the k2 is not too cool."

GM says (to Alix), "You circle the clearing carefully, and can smell where the three of you came in that evening, and where you left, and where Marceau charged after you. And your sleeve is gone. But nothing else."

Vasili stage-whispers, "So what's the plan?"

Era snarls.

Charles says, "That porte sorceress has done it again, I think."

[ussura] Era says, "argh, no fighting. :-("

[ussura] GM asks, "Do you all enter the clearing?"

Vasili says, "Drat. I guess we need to keep looking, though."

Charles starts searching the area for any signs of, well, anything.

[ussura] Alixandre circles around the clearing once more.

Vasili looks for possessions left behind.

GM says (to Vasili), "Two horses with packs remain tethered on the edge."

Vasili says, "Let's see what kind of provisions are here."

GM says, "Fleur and Marceau's packs are gone."

GM says (to Vasili), "Fairly standard travelling fare."

Alixandre . o O ( They hardly even bothered looking for me! I do hope Fleur got my note. )

Era snarls at the horses, and bark/laughs when they startle.

[ussura] GM asks, "Oh, you left a note?"

Vasili says, "Not much here. Oh hey, whiskey."

[ussura] GM says, "ITYM vodka."

Charles says, "If only Raelynn were with us, she might be able to track them."

[ussura] Alixandre says, "The one thanking her for her hospitality and trusting that we would see each other again under more pleasant circumstances."

[ussura] Vasili says, "yes"

[ussura] Vasili says, "dangit, I had it right on #crows-nest before"

Charles says, "And barring that, she'd probably at least be pleased to see that we have more horses."

GM says (to Charles), "There's a spot right next to the fire that seems to be the source of uneasiness."

Charles pokes at it with a knife.

GM says, "You recall a conversation with an Avalonian in Breslau who said that he was sometimes called upon to 'fix' what the Porte sorcerors had done, by using his Glamour knacks."

GM says (to Charles), "The knife swings through the air, and almost seems to catch on something."

Vasili asks, "Er, what are you doing?"

Charles feels for it, coincidentally making gestures not entirely unlike those Fleur made that night in the monastery so long ago.

Charles says, "There's a... a loose corner here."

[ussura] GM says, "Oh, hey, hang on a sec."

Vasili squints.

Alixandre trots up next to Charles.

Charles says, "Fleur tore open a doorway here. But I don't think she managed to close it tightly behind her."

Alixandre shivers.

GM says (to Charles), "As you're watching, the area starts to... bulge."

Charles lances the boil.

[ussura] GM asks, "With your knife?"

Vasili gets his own knives ready again.

[ussura] Charles says, "Yeah, if it works."

GM says, "You plunge your knife into the air where the disturbance lies, when suddenly it bursts open, and the air erupts around you."

Era comes and sniffs around near the bulge.

GM says, "The rest of you watch in horror as a huge, 8-foot tall beast emerges from thin air."

Alixandre exclaims, "Yipe!"

GM says, "It is vaguely humanoid in appearance, but mostly looks like a giant... well, a giant bug. Not altogether unlike the bugs you fought off that once."

[ussura] Charles asks, "Does 'rest of you' mean not me?"

GM says, "In the meantime, Charles is knocked back a pace."

[ussura] GM says, "Yeah, but you see it too, of course."

[ussura] GM exclaims, "Anyway!"

[ussura] GM says, "So, everyone tell me what they want to do first."

[ussura] Charles says, "Ah, OK. I wasn't sure if I'd traded places with it or something."

[ussura] GM says, "Mmm, don't give me ideas ;-)"

Charles grabs for its gun, if it has one.

[ussura] GM asks, "The rest of you?"

Vasili flings a knife at whatever-that-is.

Era attacks its feet/ankles/jointed carapace near the ground.

Alixandre flanks with respect to Era to attack on the other side.

Vasili says, "I believed you about the bug story, but only because Tamara was in the room first time I heard it."

[ussura] Charles says, "I'm waiting for where we find out that this is actually Pyotr or something, after a terrible eyes-open-during-porte accident."

[ussura] GM says, "Heh."

Vasili says, "So really, no need to bring another one to show me."

[ussura] GM says, "OK, the three attackers roll attack rolls, as charles grabs instinctively for its gun, which, perhaps fortunately, it does not have."

[ussura] GM asks (of Charles), "You want a grapple instead?"

[ussura] Charles asks, "Sounds good. I don't have Grappling, so what do I roll for it?"

[ussura] Charles says, "I do have Pugilism, which is kinda sorta related."

Era snaps and the beasts angle, and gives him a papercut.

Charles starts to grab for where the creature's gun should be, but when it isn't, he takes the bug by surprise by switching to a quick but decisive punch to where its jaw should be.

[ussura] Alixandre says, "I'm biting, is why I'm trying to figure it out"

[ussura] Charles says, "And I have totally forgotten what normal barehanded damage is."

[ussura] GM asks, "All attacks are finesse, right?"

[ussura] GM asks, "And damage is brawn?"

[ussura] Alixandre says, "yeah, which is now 4 as of a couple of sessions ago. It's the knack I'm trying to figure out"

[ussura] GM says, "(also, sorry everyone for starting a fight at 7. Do we need to finish it later?)"

[ussura] Charles asks, "Yeah. Is it Brawn + 0k1?"

[ussura] Alixandre says, "I'm fine"

[ussura] Charles says, "(Yes, it is.)"

Bug and Charles roll over and over in the snow, and suddenly--there are two Charles's, instead of just one. And no bug. They're still fighting it out.

Vasili says, "Wha..."

Vasili asks, "Hey Era, do they smell the same?"

[ussura] GM says, "Hey, good point."

[ussura] Era asks, "the bugs?"

[ussura] GM says, "Both wolves can make a perception roll."

[ussura] Vasili says, "The Charleses"

Charles says, "Curse it. First two Raelynns, and then the spare sleeping fops. This foul doubling disease must be contagious..."

[ussura] Era exclaims, "ah!"

Era sniffs.

[ussura] GM says, "You can either try to break free or to attack."

GM says, "And with that, you all manage to give it two dramatic wounds, and it expires in the snow."

GM says, "After a couple seconds, the image of Charles flickers, and disappears."

[ussura] Era asks, "is it bloody?"

GM says, "It's green."

[ussura] Era says, "eewwwwweee"

Alixandre pfft. Pfft pbbbblh.

Vasili says, "Aw, that wasn't so tough. Good thing I distracted it, of course."

GM exclaims, "And there you have it!"

Charles picks himself up off of the, uh, greenness.

Vasili asks (of Charles), "So does your magical expertise tell you what this means about the three we're looking for?"

[ussura] GM asks, "So, are you all planning to return to Breslau, or try to follow Fleur?"

Charles says (to Vasili), "It means it's damn strange, that's what it is."

Vasili says, "I sensed that as well."

[ussura] GM asks, "And what do you want to do with the body?"

Era wavers back into human form.

Charles tries to figure out what the heck the body even looks like now.

Alixandre turns back to human form as well.

Alixandre says, "That was most distasteful."

Vasili asks, "Oh, hello. Thanks for the help, and you are...?"

Era says, "Those things are vile. They smell vile, and they taste vile. Fighting that thing as a wolf is quite distasteful and unpleasent."

Charles says (to Vasili), "I give you fifty/fifty odds that it's the man we were looking for. The not-evil one."

Era looks around for some water, whiskey, vodka . . . anything to drink, and get rid of the horrible bug tastes.

Vasili says (to Charles), "Hey, not fair."

GM says (to Era), "And indeed, there's a bottle of half-drunk vodka in the snow."

Alixandre asks, "Alixandre, at your service. And you?"

Era plucks the bottle out of the snow, wipes the mouth on her sleeve, and takes a large gulp.

[ussura] Charles asks (of GM), "So what kind of a body is it?"

Vasili says, "But... but... well, you look Montaignian enough. Oh, uh, I'm Vasili."

Alixandre says, "A pleasure."

Vasili says, "I've heard how all these folks have been out doing Matushka's will, and I wanted in on the fun."

Era nearly chokes on the awful taste. "Ugh. Very poor quality." Lifts it to her lips again and takes another swig. "But better than bug!"

Alixandre says (to Era), "It may also smell or taste of Marceau, I'm afraid."

Alixandre looks around. "But where are the others? I am surprised not to see Sebastien with you."

[ussura] GM says, "I actually have a picture; I'll see if I can get it on the web in a day or two."

Era says (to Alix), "Doubtless that does not improve the flavor."

Era exclaims (at Alix), "Next time I fight one of those, remind me to shift to human and just shoot it!"

[ussura] GM says, "It looks more humanoid than the bugs you fought for Montegue."

Charles says, "I don't know how to tell that one of these things is dead."

[ussura] GM says, "But clearly related."

Charles says, "So we'd better tie it up and take it with us."

Vasili says, "not moving and not looking like any of us and leaking green juice all over sound like three good clues to me."

Vasili says, "In case it does start moving? Sure, I didn't get a chance to stab it."

Charles says this as though carrying around the corpse of a mysterious demon that was ripped from a sorcerous rift in space was obviously the most natural and logical course of events in any situation.

[ussura] GM says, "Hee hee"

Alixandre asks, "But the others?"

Charles starts tying it up. He also checks for anything that might resemble vital signs in a human, just for later reference.

[ussura] Era says, "we should wrap up. we have a little guy inquiring about dinner."

Charles asks (of Alixandre), "There were more of them?"

[ussura] Charles says, "Yeah, this seems like a good time to finish."

Alixandre says, "No, Raelynn, Sebastien..."

Charles says, "Oh, *them*. Well, I don't see any reason we should have to share."

Charles says, "This is *our* demon corpse trophy, by right of conquest."

Alixandre sighs and turns to Era. "I trust our other companions are safe?

Era says, "There were two ways you might have gone, and they went the other way. They should be close."

Alixandre says, "I see."

[ussura] GM says, "(types the GM for Era, who is off putting a pizza in the oven)"

Alixandre says, "I will tell my full story when we are once more united, but for now you must know: Fleur claimed to have blooded something of mine while I was unconscious."

Alixandre asks (of Charles), "I don't suppose your new-found skill at poking knives in Porte would extend to this?"

Vasili asks, "Blooded? Can you see the blood?"

Alixandre says, "Fair enough. Though I have some sympathy for Fleur."

Alixandre says, "Not as much as Marceau has, mind."

Charles says, "I see to recall Raelynn saying that there would be a visible bloodstain on a blooded item, but that it might be difficult to notice."

Charles says, "The simplest solution might be to carefully inspect each item you're carrying one by one."

[ussura] Vasili says, "I'm off, see ya next time"

[ussura] Alixandre exclaims, "bye!"

[ussura] Charles waves to Vasili.

Alixandre says, "Perhaps in daylight, then."

[ussura] Charles says, "I will probably want to poke at the corpse some more once I've seen a picture."
