[ussura] Raelynn asks, "can i try to slice the "back" of the hole with my regular knife?"
[ussura] Raelynn says, "maybe pyotr would tumble into my shadow world"
[interludes] Pyotr says, "Just reminding you. Once I decide you're not taking me back, I don't need you anymore."
[Crows-Nest] Raelynn asks (of vasili), "care to speculate?"
[Crows-Nest] Raelynn says, "i have no idea what i should do here"
[ussura] GM thinks.
[interludes] Nicolette says, "Well, I can't do much when I'm bleeding all over the place, thanks to your axe. Let me see if I can bandage myself up, so I can have the strength to get us out."
[interludes] Pyotr says, "Okay."
[Crows-Nest] Vasili says, "well, mainly I'm guessing at which mountain that is."
[interludes] Nicolette says, "You hear the sounds of tearing fabric, and surmise that she's wrapping up her wounds."
[Crows-Nest] Raelynn says, "i am guessing it's where matushka's daughter is, but i haven' idea how to get in touch with her"
[Crows-Nest] Charles asks, "The one where we fought bugs and danced?"
[Crows-Nest] Sebastien says, "hunh"
[Crows-Nest] Charles asks, "Or the one with the drachen?"
[Crows-Nest] Charles says (to Rae), "Mmm."
Raelynn says, "Honored daughter of Matushka, are you able to hear me?""
[Crows-Nest] Sebastien says, "well, if it's the mastushka's daughter mountain, I guess you could try to blip back into the real world"

GM says, "A raven alights in a tree nearby, and cocks its head."
[Crows-Nest] GM says, "It actually seems like you're *in* the real world."

[Crows-Nest] Sebastien says, "I guess there's no telling what happens if you try to teleport from within the 3XC"
[Crows-Nest] Vasili says, "it might be interesting to drop your ring and try leaving it."

Raelynn asks (of raven), "Can you understand me? I don't have Era or Alix with me to speak Raven, but can you understand me?"
Raelynn asks, "Where is this mountain?"
Raelynn asks, "Koschei the Undying has helped me learn my craft, but I have a long way to go. Are you a friend of Koschei?"
Raven exclaims, "Raawk! World. Shadow. Raawk!"
[interludes2] GM says, "Oh, and I just realized I mostly forgot about something else."
[interludes2] Raelynn asks, "who are you speaking to?"
[interludes2] Sebastien asks, "Breck?"
[ussura] Breck cries out "Noooo!" and rushes to stand over Vienne!

[interludes2] Sebastien watches to see how Breck's shoelace thing works out for him.
Breck falls over.

Raelynn finds a hole in a tree and drops her ring in there.
[interludes2] Sebastien says, "right, kick him in the head or something. I'm tying up Vienne and searching her."
Charles mutters, "See how he likes it."
Raelynn concentrates on the shimmering red glow that's her knife, and reaches up to get back to Sebastien
Breck says, "Rawwk! Shiny."
[interludes2] Breck says, "Cripes"
Raven says, "Rawwk! Shiny."
Raelynn says, "no! don't take my ring away!"
[Crows-Nest] Vasili says, "I was actually thinking of stepping the other way, but that could work too."
[interludes2] Charles picks himself up, wincing from his broken rib and wincing from the still-cold slashes all over his arms.
[interludes2] Charles says, "(Second wincing == 'shivering', whoops.)"
[ussura] Raelynn asks, "am i back to seb?"
GM says, "The raven nods at you."
[interludes2] Charles says, "So. This contest didn't quite turn out the way I expected."
GM says, "And suddenly Raelynn re-appears, holding on to her knife."
Sebastien says, "whew"
[interludes2] Charles asks (of Nemka), "What do you say? Allies?"
Raelynn says (to sebastien), "it was the oddest place"
[ussura] Vasili asks, "Are we winning here now?"
[interludes] Pyotr asks (of Nicolette), "Feeling better now?"
Sebastien asks, "what did you see? and was Pyotr gone?"
[interludes] Nicolette asks (of Pyotr), "There we go. Cold yet?"
[interludes] Pyotr says, "I am used to the cold."
[interludes] Pyotr says, "Let's get out of here."
[interludes] Nicolette says, "Well, let's see."
[ussura] Charles says, "I think that Vienne is passed out, Breck is prone and half tied up, and Nicolette is... out of scope. So I'd say yeah."
[ussura] Sebastien says, "ha ha"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "she's in the object tree"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "I never shoulda used "gonear""
[ussura] GM says, "Yeah, the other guys are helping mop up the rest of the army, which mostly has fled."
Raelynn says, "it was a reflection of this world, which is pretty much looking like the real world"
Sebastien is tying up Vienne as he talks and searching her to make sure she's not carrying any more vials.
[ussura] Vasili says, "just checking, because if there's any doubt, we'd better all stab Breck a lot."
GM says (to Sebastien), "(she was)"
Sebastien says, "I .. guess that makes sense"
Raelynn says, "it was very confusing - i was on top of the mountain overlooking a lake"
Charles ties up Breck, since *someone* has to.
[ussura] Sebastien says (to Charles), "and you're the guy with knotwork"
Raelynn says, "i left my ring back there, so i am guessing i can go back there"
Charles binds his wrists with what's left of his belt.
[ussura] Sebastien says, "ha ha"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "poor abused belt"
Sebastien says, "hmm"
GM says, "As you look, the large frozen portal looks like it's beginning to fade."
Sebastien says, "oh no"
Vasili asks, "mountain? Is there a lake near Ostrog?"
Sebastien asks, "do you think we could use one of these vials to keep it open longer?"
Charles asks (of Raelynn), "Does it bring you to where Pyotr is?"
Raelynn says (to charles), "no, i didn't see pyotr"
Charles says (to Sebastien), "I'm half tempted to just ... walk through."
Raelynn says, "i could see that hole from where i was, but that was all"
Vasili says (to Raelynn), "But your magic is different from theirs."
Sebastien says (to Charles), "you know, people get lost in these"
[interludes] Nicolette says, "OK, hang on. I'm going to experiment a bit."
Raelynn says (to sebastien), "let's try the vials. since the vials started this to begin with"
Sebastien asks (of Raelynn), "do you have a third object you could give Charles?"
Sebastien hands Raelynn a vial.
[ussura] Raelynn asks (of gm), "how long does it take to blood an object?"
[interludes] GM says, "And in the meantime, you're getting colder and colder. Another round of this, and you'll start losing resolve."
Sebastien also removes any encoded letters, signet rings, and other plot hooks Vienne is carrying.
[Crows-Nest] GM says (to Seb), "Ha ha yay"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "okay"
Vasili says, "So if your magic doesn't take you to the normal place, and their magic looks different ... and you said your shadow world was cold and windy..."
[ussura] GM asks, "Not too long. A phase or two?"
[ussura] GM says, "Phone; afk a sec"
[ussura] Raelynn asks, "while the gm is afk, toss vial or no?"
[ussura] Raelynn says, "i vote yes"
[interludes] Pyotr grumbles. "Where's that Raelynn when you need her?"
[ussura] Vasili says, "Yeah, pour a little more onto the hole and see if it keeps it stronger."
Charles asks (of Vasili), "Do you think Pyotr is in Raelynn's shadow world?"
[ussura] Charles says, "Why not."
Vasili says, "Could be."
[ussura] Sebastien says, "I don't have any brilliant ideas here except sending Charles in with a blooded object so we can get him back again"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "and hope Charles can find Pyotr somehow"
Raelynn pours the contents of the vial on the edges of the hole
Vasili asks, "Does that hole 'feel' like that other place?"
[ussura] Raelynn says, "if anyone is going in, it shouldn't be someone who can't keep his eyes open"
Raelynn concentrates on the hole
[ussura] Charles exclaims, "I can keep my eyes open!"
[ussura] Raelynn says (to charles), "you can? oh"
Raelynn says, "it feels ..."
[ussura] Pyotr asks, "without going crazy?"
[ussura] Charles says, "Well, no."
[ussura] Pyotr says, "er"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "crazier"
[ussura] Charles asks, "But no one can, can they?"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "it seemed like Nicolette had her eyes open"
[ussura] Charles exclaims (at Pyotr), "And therein lies my advantage!"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "but maybe she is going crazy"
[ussura] Charles asks (of Sebastien), "How would we know that?"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "I assume porte people can"
[ussura] Charles says, "Also, she already was."
Raelynn says, "it doesn't feel like normal porte holes that i helped mend"
[ussura] Charles says (to Pyotr), "Really? I thought Porte people were just really good at getting around with their eyes shut."
Charles says, "I'm going in."
[ussura] Pyotr says, "oh, maybe"
Raelynn says (to Charles), "wait. i don't have an object - I can't get you back"
[ussura] Vasili says, "they can't open their eyes, but N has probably figured out she's not in that place."
[interludes] Pyotr keeps his eyes shut tight.
Charles says (to Raelynn), "I won't be any worse off than Pyotr, then."
Sebastien asks, "can't you make one for him?"
Charles says, "If you can blood something in the next few minutes, I'll wait for it, but if not... I'm going in."
Raelynn says (to charles), "it takes a while"
Raelynn mutters below her breath, "And I *hate* cutting myself"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "wait, GM said earlier it just takes a phase or two"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "but -- ah"
[ussura] Raelynn says (to seb), "heh"
[ussura] Raelynn says, "i want to wait for the GM to come back before charles goes off. i want to know if the hole got stronger or what with the blood, and whether the hole really isn't a porte hole"
[ussura] GM says, "OK, back."
[ussura] GM says, "It doesn't look like a normal porte hole, no."
[ussura] GM says, "It's black instead of red, and it's windy, which is weird."
[ussura] Charles asks (of GM), "How long does blooding take?"
Raelynn cuts the tip of her thumb, whimpers, drops a bit of blood on an Ussuran coin, whimpers, and mutters the appropriate words, and whimpers
[ussura] Vasili says, "also, I asked whether the feel (physical or magical, I guess) of the hole reminds Raelynn of her shadow world."
[ussura] Sebastien says, "aw"
[ussura] GM says, "I think we did it in a phase once when the need was urgent but we're out of turn-based mode mostly for now, so, sure, you can blood something before it fades completely."
Charles says, "Er. I'm sorry about that."
[ussura] Raelynn says (to gm), "what vasili said. i am assuming yes, but i wasn't sure"
[ussura] Vasili says, "R also poured a bit of the vial-blood on the hole to see if it would stick around longer."
(From GM) hole *starts fading*...
[ussura] GM asks, "Oh, she did?"
(From GM) hole *stronger!*
[ussura] Vasili says, "er, somebody did, I think. Or we wanted to. Yay!"
[ussura] Raelynn says, "i did, yeah"
GM says (to Raelynn), "When you step near the hole, the smell of the wind coming from it reminds you of the earth from the shadow lands."
Raelynn says, "quick, get all the vials off Vienne so that we can keep it going stronger"
Raelynn says (to Vasili), "okay, that's my shadowlands i smell"
Sebastien hands more vials to Raelynn.
[ussura] Charles asks, "You realize, don't you, that there is a scientific imperative to test the vials on the other side now, to see what they do *in* the shadowlands?"
Raelynn says, "if pyotr stays on the path, he will be fine. otherwise, Something Bad will happen"
[interludes] Nicolette (sweetly) "Just a few more moments, I think..."
Sebastien says, "is Charles going to go in? this might be enough to keep it open until he gets back"
Vasili says, "That, and so that she doesn't have the vials."
Charles says, "Then I'm definitely going through. I'd love to see them."
Charles steps through.
Vasili says, "Let's go!"
Vasili follows.
[interludes] Pyotr asks, "Ugh, what is this?"
[ussura] Raelynn asks, "wait wait what?"
[interludes] Pyotr exclaims, "You're not helping!"
GM asks (of Charles&Vasili), "Eyes closed, or open?"
[Crows-Nest] Charles says (to Pytor), "Dude, I *have* bathed this month."
[ussura] Raelynn asks, "you are all going to invade the shadows?"
Pyotr jumps on Nicolette and tackles her to the ground again.
Charles's eyes are wide open.
[ussura] Sebastien exclaims, "not me!"
[interludes] Pyotr says, "channel"
[ussura] Vasili says, "open"
[ussura] Charles asks, "Does Vasili have any vials?"
[ussura] GM says, "There's one more."
[ussura] Vasili asks, "Nope. Should I?"
[ussura] GM asks (of Charles), "Open or shut?"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "maybe you should wait until you find Pyotr"
[ussura] GM says, "Whoops, missed it."
[ussura] Charles says (to GM), "Eyes? Wide open."
[ussura] Charles says (to Vasilie), "I'm just curious what they do on the shadowside."
[ussura] Vasili says, "summon the Queen Bug, I shouldn't wonder"
[ussura] Charles exclaims, "Woo!"
[ussura] Charles exclaims, "Perfect chance to finish them off!"
[ussura] Raelynn asks (of charles), "i assume you have the ussuran coin tucked somewhere safe?"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "it might make an exit out"
GM exclaims, "As the two of you tumble through the portal, you find yourself in a strange land with a white sheen in the air instead of a sky. And up the mountain a ways, you see Nicolette almost entirely covered with the sheen that she's called down from the sky like taffy. Pyotr is standing with his eyes shut tight, and just as you look, he leaps at Nicolette, and becomes surrounded with the stuff!"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "or an exit someplace else"
Charles exclaims, "Pyotr!"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "whoah"
Charles runs toward them.
[interludes2] Raelynn asks (of sebastien), "fancy a game of cards while we wait?"
[Crows-Nest] (from Sebastien) music swells
[Crows-Nest] Charles says, "Ha ha."
Nicolette says (to Pyotr), "You can feel Nicolette be *pulled* away from you, and you're surrounded in something that feels gross and sticky."
Pyotr exclaims, "Argh!"
Pyotr exclaims, "She got away!"
Vasili says, "Pyotr! It's us!"
Pyotr asks, "Where?"
Pyotr asks, "Which way?"
Pyotr says, "Wait, you can't see me either."
Charles exclaims, "No, you didn't let her get away *again*!?!"
Pyotr says, "No, wait"
Vasili says, "Right... wait, it's not that place, you can open your eyes."
Pyotr says, "I talked to Alix."
Pyotr says, "He told me he heard lots of weird voices."
Pyotr says, "They tried to tell him to open his eyes."
[ussura] Vasili says, "ha ha"
Charles asks, "Yeah, but were they *this* weird?"
Pyotr exclaims, "I can't do it! I gotta keep my eyes closed!"
[ussura] Sebastien says, "ha ha ha"
Nicolette says (to Pyotr), "(fading) So long, sweetheart. I won't forget the souvenier you gave me..."
Charles exclaims, "Ooga booga turnip truffle!"
Pyotr says, "I gotta find the way out..."
Pyotr starts walking randomly.
Vasili asks, "Did Alix's voices kick him?"
GM throws Pyotr a drama die.
Vasili kick.
Charles pulls out his knife and tries to cut through the place she vanished.
Pyotr asks, "Hey, what was that?"
[ussura] Charles says, "(Remembering the time I C-sectioned a bug...)"
GM says, "When Pyotr lost hold of Nicolette, she and the sheen sprang back up into the sky, as if it had been pulled down like a sheet of soft rubber."
GM says (to Charles), "Nothing happens in the air where she was standing."
Vasili says, "Er, I thought Raelynn was going to come too."
Vasili looks back to where Charles and he entered.
GM says, "The three of you are on the top of a tall mountain, with a valley stretching beneath you."
GM says, "Where you came in, there's some kind of shimmering in the air above your heads."
[ussura] Charles asks (of Rae), "Did you give me the coin before I went through?"
[ussura] Charles asks (of GM), "How high above?"
[ussura] GM says, "Maybe 4 feet."
[ussura] Vasili says, "er, if you didn't take the coin, I did."
Charles says (to Pyotr), "Hold still."
Charles climbs up on Pyotr's shoulders to touch it.
Pyotr says, "Hmm, this isn't quite what Alix described."
Pyotr asks, "Who's...whu?"
GM says, "Pyotr at this point is starting to lose points of Resolve, since he's so cold."
GM says, "The rest of you are starting to freeze as well."
Pyotr starts shivering violently.
Charles says, "Hrm."
GM says, "When Charles puts his hand in the shimmering, he loses sight of it."
[ussura] Raelynn says (to vasili), "oh good"
Charles tries to pull himself through.
[interludes] GM says, ""...and the rest of you see a hand in the portal."
[interludes] Sebastien grabs and pulls
GM exclaims, "Charles is pulled up and out of the sky!"
Pyotr asks, "What's going on here?"
[ussura] Charles says, "So this is different from where she vansihed, then."
[ussura] GM says, "From where N vanished? Yeah, it's different."
[interludes] Charles asks, "What, back *here*?"
[interludes] Raelynn says, "okay, let me try something."
[interludes] Sebastien exclaims, "did you find Pyotr? hurry up, the portal's fading!"
Charles says (to Sebastien), "Hold my legs."
Vasili says, "Alright, listen. I know I sound like Vasili, but I'm really the spirit of your Opa. It's very important that you reach up to this hole in the sky."
[interludes] Charles says (to Sebastien), "Hold my legs."
[interludes] Raelynn bends down and reaches into the hole with her arm
[interludes] Raelynn waves
Pyotr says, "Huh."
[interludes] Charles sticks his head and arms through.
[interludes] Sebastien does so
Pyotr says, "That's what my Opa would say, all right."
Pyotr stretches up into the air.
Vasili says, "Durn right, boy."
Charles grabs Pyotr's arms.
Pyotr exclaims, "Opa!"
Pyotr asks, "Oma, is that you?"
Charles says, "Yeah. Now pull yourself up."
Pyotr says, "O...okay."
Pyotr pulls.
Vasili lifts from the knees.
Charles heaves.
GM asks, "Oooof. Man, what does Pyotr *eat*, anyway?"
GM exclaims, "But you manage to get him back through the portal!"
Vasili leaps for the portal!
Charles . o O ( If he weren't half frozen to death, I'd be taking the time to get a rope. )
[interludes] Raelynn grabs Vasili's hand as he jumps
[ussura] GM says (to V), "Hey, didn't you just take leaping? You should roll! ;-)"

GM says, "And with that, you all tumble to the ground back in the 3x10."
Sebastien says, "well."
Raelynn asks, "can we keep the hole open a second?"
Sebastien asks, "what happened to Nicolette?"
Raelynn says, "i want to see if i can see my ring from my normal shadow"
Sebastien says (to Raelynn), "well, there's one vial left"
Raelynn says, "since i am not a hundred percent sure where i left it"
Vasili says, "She found her own way out."
(From GM) hole *starts fading*
Vasili asks (of Raelynn), "You can always just go from there to your ring then your knife or coin, right?"
Pyotr lies on the ground. "Anyone have a blanket?"
Raelynn says (to vasili), "well, theoretically."
Charles asks, "Anyone have any ideas on how we can get Pyotr's eyes open again?"
Raelynn dabs some more from the vial on the hole
[ussura] GM says, "Hee hee"
Vasili says (to Raelynn), "What could possibly go ... oh."
Pyotr opens his eyes. "Hey, Opa brought me back here?"
Raelynn says (to vasili), "if where i was was the real world, sure"
Pyotr says, "That makes sense, he probably lives in the thrice-tenth now."
Pyotr asks, "I mean, he died what, 10 years ago?"
Vasili asks, "Pyotr? Is it really you? How in the world did you get back here?"
[ussura] GM asks, "I gotta go eat; any more experimentation you all need to do?"
Raelynn says, "if it was a shadow of a shadow, then i don't know"
[Crows-Nest] Charles says (to Vasili), "Ha ha."
Pyotr says (to Vasili), "I was recued by my Opa! He's the best."
[ussura] GM asks (of R), "You going in?"
Pyotr says, "I see you guys managed the rest of the fight."
[ussura] Raelynn says (to GM), "Assume I hopped in and out. Just let me know if I can see the ring :)"
Vasili kicks Pyotr gently again. "You idiot."
Pyotr says, "Wha..."
Pyotr says, "Aww, man"
Pyotr says, "Thanks."
[ussura] Charles says, "I still wanna know what the stuff does on the other side."
[ussura] GM says, "When you go in, you find the terrain to be identical to the one you saw before. And indeed, right where the stump had been, there's your normally-black ring."
[ussura] Charles says, "But I won't steal a vial from anyone to find out."
[ussura] GM says, "(and if you grab it, you go back to the normal world again.)"
[ussura] Raelynn says (to gm), "okay"
Raelynn says (to Vasili), "okay, my ring is there."
Vasili asks, "Which there?"
[ussura] Raelynn says, "i don't think we have any more vials"
[ussura] Raelynn says, "i just used one to keep this open"
[ussura] Raelynn says, "(so that i can go in and check)"
[ussura] GM says, "So it's sort of like layers--Porte apparantly takes you two layers from where you start, and the 3x10 is one further layer away in the opposite direction from the 'real world'."
[ussura] Charles says, "Fair enough."
Raelynn says (to vasili), "both in the shadow as well as our real world"
Vasili says, "uhh, okay"
[ussura] GM says, "Whereas Shadow Magic just moved you one layer at a time."
