Piorgi exclaims, "Ahoy, travellers!"
Era says (to Raelynn), "Hmm. Then I would have to replace it every day. Maybe I'll wait for the next town."
Charles says, "Ahoy."
Pyotr exclaims (at Piorgi), "Well met!"
Pyotr exclaims, "Nice beard!"
Piorgi grins. "The same to you!"
Pyotr asks, "We're on the way to Veche. Any news of the road ahead?"
Piorgi says, "Ah, as are we. News is that the road is free enough; things are snowed over in Novosibirsk, so we're taking the southern route by there."
Charles looks over at the loaded wagons.

Renate blinks at Era's speech.

Era nudges her horse closer to Renate's wagon as they continue down the road.

Charles mutters (to Pyotr), "Do you think they're talking about us?"

Pyotr says (to Charles), "Hmm, yeah, she's probably saying what a good idea it is to travel with large burly strangers who can fight off bandits."

GM says, "And with that you settle in and travel with the Fhideli for a spell. Renate and Piorgi introduce you to Rue, their 7-year-old son, and Nona, Renate's mother, as well as various other members of the Vitzi Balsude. ('Vitzi' is 'clan' in Fhideli)"
Pyotr says (to Rue), "So, do you know how to trap a rabbit? No? It's easy, let me show you how to make the snare."
GM says, "That evening, you cross into Veche and into the Azov forest, thick and dark, though the road through it is fairly well-maintained. A downed tree blocks a wagon a time or two, but well-practiced Fhidli scurry out and drag them out of the way"
Sebastien says (to Nona), "such a fine-looking family you have here"

[ussura] Charles says, "With two drama dice, just because this thing seems difficult to do stuff to."

Pyotr's axe slides through the automaton, as it falls into two pieces. Wait, three. Wait, a small pile of lumber and metal.
Rue runs up to Pyotr. "That was SO COOL! Do it again! Do it again!
Charles rides the collapsing mass to the ground, rolling free at the last moment to avoid being crushed.
Era collapses in a heap on the snow, her head gradually returning to its normal size, shape, and un-hirsuitedness.
Pyotr asks, "So. Anyone know what that thing was?"
Charles says, "Sebastien was suggesting earlier that it was a clockwork device."
Charles gathers up the pieces of his cloak.
Pyotr says, "Hmm."
Pyotr says, "No, it didn't seem to want to tell me what time it is."
Automaton's hand remains attached to Pyotr's axe, as it tried to grab on at the last in one last desperate defense.
Pyotr says, "Aw, man."
Pyotr says, "Someone help me get this off."
Charles says, "Why? It makes a nice decoration for the handle."
Era gradually recovers, and goes to fetch Chavi and the flammables.
Pyotr says, "yeah, but it throws off the balance."
[ussura] Era says, "which sounds like a cool band."
[ussura] GM exclaims, "Ha!"
Raelynn retrieves knives
Chavi is already to one side, attending the fallen man with Sebastien.
Raelynn says (to Pyotr), "here, see if you can use the knife to pry it off"
Raelynn says, "and arrow too"
Pyotr says (to Raelynn), "Thanks"
Pyotr says, "Let's just pry here, and examine it closely there, and ..."
Charles looks at the tatters of cloth, trying to piece them back together like a jigsaw puzzle.

[ussura] GM says, "Sure."
Era asks (of Chavi), "How much oil did you bring, lad? Did you bring flint & steel?"

Charles says (to Rae), "I'd be most grateful."
Era begins dousing the construct with oil, and letting it soak in a bit.
Era asks, "I'm not sure if these things are capable of being re-animated, but lets prevent the possibility, eh?"
Charles says (to Era), "I'm not sure I see the benefit of burning it now."
Era says (to Charles), "Whatever the sorcerer that animated it originally may be capable of, I want to make sure he can't resurect his creature."
Era says (to Charles), "I'd rather avoid fighting it *again*."
Charles shrugs. "I thought it was actually a bit fun, myself."
Era starts striking the flint & steel, arcing sparks over the oil-soaked wood.
[ussura] Era exclaims, "Sara would enjoy fighting it again!"
Era says (to Charles), "I doubt the bloody villager would agree with you."
Charles pulls out the metal head before the fire gets into full blaze.
Era warms her hands over the flames.
Rue exclaims (at Piorgi), "Did you see when Pyotr hit the thing in the face and it stumbled back? Did you? And then when it ripped up the cloak? And at the end, when the hand was still attached to Pyotr's axe? And then he ripped it off!"
Pyotr tries to move the fingers on the hand. Do they move freely, or are they stuck?
Charles looks inside the head to see what was behind those eyes.
GM says (to Pyotr), "After a few minutes of struggling, you eventually manage to pry the hand off the axe, mostly by sliding it off the haft."
Pyotr says, "Hmm, definitely stuck."
GM says (to Charles), "There are an inordinate number of gears, springs, and cogs in the head. The eyes seem to glow on their own, without anything burning anywhere."
[ussura] GM says (to Pyotr), "Whoops, didn't mean to overrule your rp."
[ussura] Pyotr says, "that's fine"
Raelynn uses pins to piece the cloak together
Charles waves a hand in front of the good eye. Any reaction from the gizmos within?
Raelynn says (to charles), "i will sew it in place after we set up camp tonight"
[ussura] GM asks, "So, it's after 7; any final questions?"
Charles says (to Rae), "Thank you. This is awfully kind of you."
GM says (to Charles), "As you wave your hand in front of it, a gear spins and falls out the neck."
Charles says, "Whoops."
GM says, "Then there's a sad sort of clicking sound."
Raelynn says, "it's crying!"
Charles says, "I fear I may need to stop using my cloak as a weapon at some point."
[ussura] Charles asks, "So the automaton spent a drama die to activate its special fabric-rending power?"
[ussura] GM says, "Right."

[ussura] Charles says, "I fear what this says about whoever designed it, if its most important feature is the ability to destroy clothing."

GM says, "A couple hours later, you come to a river, which it seems to have walked out of."
[Crows-Nest] GM says, "Wait, duh."

GM says, "Which it seems to have walked across the ice of."

GM says, "Pyotr casts about on the ice for a while, but can't seem to pick up its trail. It's a couple hours to sunset, and you're a couple hours from the village at this point."
Pyotr says, "I guess we should head back for the night."
(From GM) Era says, "If it had been alive, I would have been able to smell it, but I didn't smell anything while we were fighting it. If it had actually leaked oil, I probably could track that, but at this point, it was still uninjured.
GM says, "So, you head back, where the villagers fete you with a large dinner, and regale you with stories and song."
Pyotr says, "yay"
