Tamara says, "You are unlikely to meet many people between here and there, as everyone knows where the army is heading, and does not wish to be in front of it."

Charles says, "That's terribly sensible of them."
Tamara motions, and a servant that was just out of hearing range comes forward, and she dispatches him to get a map.
Sebastien says, "and if we meet any outriders from the army, no doubt our papers will convince them of our diplomatic intentions"

Charles asks, "Do we have horses?"

Tamara says, "Still, be careful. Most of the Ussuran army is to the west, but guerilla detachments are harrying him from various sides, and have no fixed position."

Raelynn aims carefully and severs one ear.

[ussura] GM says, "Phase 3! Everyone under the sun. Pyotr, Vasili, Wolves, Era, Sebastien."
[ussura] GM says, "Let's see."
Pyotr takes swing at the wolf Raelynn didn't just injure.

Pyotr's swing goes wide.
[ussura] GM says, "3 halfway down, and 3 fresh, I believe."
[ussura] GM says, "Though there are, uh, shadows in the woods. Maybe."

[ussura] Raelynn asks, "what would it take to grab the kids and ride out fast?"
[ussura] GM says, "V has 1 on him, P and S and R have 4 to deal with, E has 1."
[ussura] Raelynn says, "esp if there are more coming"
[ussura] GM says, "One action to pick up a kid, one action to ride away."
[ussura] Charles says (to Rae), "That's looking like the best strategy to me, yeah."
Vasili turns to the wolf that gave him the scratch and lashes out.

[ussura] GM says, "There are two kids unaccounted for right now, plus 2 on Seb's horse."

wolf gets a deep wound to the side, but manages to shake it off.

[ussura] Charles asks (of GM), "The unaccounted ones being by Pyotr and me, or being two other ones we haven't spotted yet?"
[ussura] GM says, "Not on a horse."
[ussura] GM says, "2 on Seb's horse, one in a tree, one in the snow."
Era's sword whistles through the air near the wolf's ear.
[ussura] GM says, "Sebastien tries to pick up the fallen kid."
[ussura] Raelynn says, "since seb already has two on his horse, if he rides off to safety with it, and then if pyotr can boost a child up on to my horse on round 8, i can ride away on 10, and ..."
[ussura] GM says, "Someone roll for him."
[ussura] Raelynn says, "i guess that works, too"
[ussura] Charles asks, "What do we roll?"
[ussura] Pyotr asks, "can a horse outrun a wolf pack?"
[ussura] GM asks, "Oh, unless you want him to ride off now?"
[ussura] Charles says (to Pyotr), "With enough drama dice, it can."
[ussura] GM says, "That actually makes sense, since Pyotr's guarding the fallen one."
[ussura] Charles says (to GM), "I think he should flee and let someone else grab the fallen one."
[ussura] Vasili says, "I'd like to get going soon, too."
Pyotr exclaims (at Sebastien), "Hang on, then you and rae cna escape together!"
(From GM) Sebastien cries out, "I'll take these two to safety--follow quickly!
(From GM) Sebastien rides off.
Pyotr exclaims, "Or that!"
[ussura] Charles says (to Vasili), "Yeah."
Pyotr exclaims (at Era), "Help Charles! We're okay here!"
[ussura] Vasili says, "no, I mean OOC."
Era exclaims (at Pyotr), "I'm on it! Ride safely!"
one_wolf, badly damaged, attacks Vasili
[ussura] Charles says (to Vasili), "So do I."

Era staggers in her saddle from another bite wound to her calf. Blood starts dripping slowly down her boot.
four_wolves circle Pyotr, trying to get past him to the crying girl!
[ussura] Pyotr asks, "are they attacking me, or something sneakier?"
[ussura] Pyotr asks, "also, why aren't these brute wolves, huh?"
[ussura] Charles says, "I hope they're not trying to outsmart him."
[ussura] four_wolves says, "Since you're doing a full-on defensive mode, roll parry+finesse, and we'll add 10 to that to make the TN they have to surpass to get to the girl."

Pyotr swings his axe menacingly at the wolves.

Pyotr waits for it, and then swats the lead wolf at the last second.

GM Throwing, riding, something like that.

[ussura] Charles asks, "Does anyone have an objection to fleeing?"

Era's sword slices through the air . . . and through the wolf's neck! The wolf topples.
Pyotr turns and tries to scoop up the girl and hand her to Raelynn.
[ussura] Raelynn says, "not i"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "I'm becoming more in favor"
[ussura] Era says, "nope. let's ride."
[ussura] GM exclaims (at Pyotr), "That doesn't quite work!"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "and I'm out of drama"
[ussura] Era says, "also, the wolves should probably fail their morale check since we've done them so much damage at this point . . . '"
[ussura] GM says, "(TN's have been 20 for these)"
[ussura] Raelynn says, "take mine"

[ussura] Pyotr exclaims, "ow!"
[ussura] Raelynn says, "i don't have any more"
Charles swings the last child onto his shoulders, whispers a quick prayer, then jumps toward the nearest horse.
[ussura] Pyotr says, "okay, been saving this"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "I'm burning my story die from season 1"
[ussura] Charles says (to Pyotr), "Oho."
[ussura] GM says, "Yay"
Pyotr drops his axe, grabs the girl with both hands, and throws her at Raelynn. Running to Raelynn's horse, he smacks it on the rear and it runs, following Sebatien.
girl exclaims, "Thaaaannkk yoooouuuu!"
[Crows-Nest] Pyotr says, "(now Duchess is asking why I made her waste her last drama die)"
[ussura] GM says (to Charles), "You can do Riding or Leaping for that."
[Crows-Nest] Charles says, "Aw."
[Crows-Nest] Vasili says, "The child hits Raelynn! Roll damage."
[ussura] Charles says (to GM), "I don't have either, so straight Finesse again, looks like."
[Crows-Nest] Raelynn says, "i guess that means i don't go round 10 either"

[ussura] Pyotr exclaims, "woo!"
[ussura] GM exclaims, "Woo-hoo!"
Charles's own horse, fleeing the wolves, passes under the other tree just as Charles falls onto it. He gives a shout and follows after Sebastient and Raelynn.
[Crows-Nest] Vasili says, "sure you can, if there is a round 10."
[Crows-Nest] Vasili says, "oh wait, you're fleeing."
Pyotr exclaims (at Era,Vasili), "Leave me, follow them!"
Pyotr whistles for his horse, which is nervous about the four wolves.
Vasili says (to Pyotr), "Right. Get on your horse, silly."
[ussura] GM says, "Phase 5! Era! Pyotr's horse is nearby, most everyone else is fleeing, your own wolf has been dispatched."
Era nudges her horse closer to Pyotr's, grabs the reins, and hauls it along with her as she gallops away after the rest of the party.
[ussura] GM asks, "Getting Pyotr first?"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "I did tell her to go"
[ussura] Era exclaims, "um, Yes!! of course!"
[ussura] GM says, "Hee hee"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "not to take my horse, but hey"
[ussura] Era says, "thought he was on it, but strugling. sorry."
[ussura] Pyotr says (to Era), "I got off before the started rolling init"
[ussura] GM says (to Era), "OK, give me a Riding check, with Finesse."
[Crows-Nest] Pyotr asks, "how did I type "the" instead of "we"?"

[ussura] GM says, "And Pyotr, riding TN 20 to get on."
[ussura] GM says, "(also Finesse)"

[ussura] GM says, "OK, it'll take a whole action to get up."
[ussura] Pyotr says, "I don't have either, so"
[ussura] GM says, "Instead of gettingon on phase 5."
[ussura] GM says, "Let's see."
Pyotr lands flat on his face as the horse races past.
[ussura] GM says, "Phase 6 is Charles, who is fleeing, and phase 8 is Pyotr, wolves, Sebastien."
[ussura] GM says, "With his 13, Pyotr manages to get up on the horse, but not before the wolves get in one more attack."
Pyotr's hand reaches out and grabs his ax, conveiently nearby.
[ussura] Charles asks, "Can I assist Pyotr as I ride past?"
[ussura] GM asks, "Sure, what do you have in mind?"
[ussura] GM says, "You could even swing him up behind you."
Charles grabs Pyotr by the sleeve and collar as he rides by, yanking him up.
[ussura] Charles says, "That'll make this one full horse -- two and two half passengers."
[ussura] GM says, "Heh."
[ussura] Pyotr asks, "wait, you only have one kid, I thought?"
[ussura] Charles says, "Since I don't have Riding, I'm not sure what the penalty is on that."
[ussura] Charles says (to Pyotr), "Oh, right, your kid's with Rae. Forgot that."
[ussura] GM says, "Let's go with a straight Brawn check."
[7thsea] Charles rolls 3k3: 1 10+8 2 | 21
[ussura] Pyotr says, "I thought you were implying I'm a passenger and a half"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "not bad"
[ussura] GM laughs.
[ussura] Charles says (to Pyotr), "Hee."
[ussura] GM exclaims, "That works!"
[ussura] GM says, "Go ahead and rp."
[ussura] Charles exclaims (at Pyotr), "I hope not, or else the TN goes up!"
Charles exclaims (at Pyotr), "One good turn, my friend!"
Pyotr exclaims, "Thanks!"
[ussura] GM says, "Which means that the wolves do *not* get to attack on phase 8, but rather chase you all instead."
[ussura] Charles says, "Yay! I think."
[Crows-Nest] Pyotr exclaims, "aww, we had a chase laaaaaaast week!"
snarling_wolves charge after you!
Vasili says, "hey, wait for me!"
Govdela says, "That's about enough of that."
[ussura] Charles asks, "Whose horse was Govdela on, through all this?"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "I hope Era still has her"
GM exclaims, "A gust of wind blows, and just as Charles' horse rides under a pine tree, it shifts, dumping a huge load of snow behind them, buring the lead wolf!"
[ussura] Charles says, "Ah, that'd explain how she took all those injuries: protecting Govdela."
[ussura] Era says, "Yes, the grandmother was behind me the whole time. Too bad she didn't have a large walking stick with which to whap the wolvies."
GM says, "And as you all ride off, the sounds of yipping gradually receed into the distance."
[ussura] Era exclaims, "yay!"
Pyotr says, "See, I knew it was good to be nice to old ladies."
GM says, "After a bit, you finally relax enough to slow down again."
Vasili says (to Govdela), "Did you just ... uh."
Govdela says, "Thank you. I'm glad you decided to take a detour to help an old lady after all."
Govdela winks at Vasili.
Charles says, "That was certainly exciting."
Pyotr says, "A little more painful than I expected, but not bad."
Charles says, "But somehow, not entirely unexpected."
Era checks over the grandchildren briefly, but sees no obvious injuries. Despite their somewhat harrowing adventure, they seem none the worse for wear.
Govdela swings down off of Era's horse.
Govdela says (to children), "Come, young ones, it's time to go home. And after that, I think it's time I had a chat with Wolf."
Pyotr says (to Govdela), "We're happy to help, Grandmother"
Era hunts in her pack for some salve, and applies it liberally to her gashes.
Govdela says (to Era), "Here, let me see that."
Govdela examines Era's gashes, and ties some bandages to them.
GM rolls some dice behind the screen.
Vasili blinks more. "With Wolf? ... I don't suppose you'd know about what happened to a certain Drachen?"
Raelynn holds out her foot.
Govdela says, "That should do for now."
Govdela asks (of Vasili), "The Drachen that sleeps beneath Andresgorod Castle?"
Fang has disconnected.
Fang showered after leaving the lounge, thinking this would reduce his risk of being infected.
Govdela says, "He's still there, I imagine."
Govdela chats as she looks at Raelynn's and Pyotr's wounds.
Pyotr says, "Oh, I'm fine, Grandmother. Just whining, but I'll be fit as a fiddle tomorrow."
Govdela asks (of Vasili), "Or did you mean something else?"
Pyotr says, "Raelynn might need your help, though."
Vasili says, "Oh, that's right, most likely."
Charles says, "The Drachen who lent its skin to the Knias of Somojez -- whether or not they're one in the same, I have no idea."
Govdela says, "That's the one. His skin, now..."
Govdela says, "In the normal course of events, the skin will return when it is not being used."
Govdela says, "When they've been separated for a long time, it can develop a mind of its own."
[ussura] Charles says, "I'm going to need to go at ten, unfortunately."
[ussura] GM says, "Yeah, we're basically done."
[ussura] Charles says, "If we're not done, I'll leave the log going."
[ussura] Pyotr exclaims, "but we're just getting a new set of plot threads!"
Govdela says, "I believe this one might be following someone it finds interesting."
[ussura] Charles exclaims (at Pyotr), "We're still busy consolidating the last set!"
Govdela says, "Someone will have to convince it to return to a rightful Knias one day."
Vasili is tongue-tied.
Pyotr says, "We'll remember that if we find one."
Govdela says, "Now, be sure to tell Montegue I need him. For years, I've been watching, never dreaming he would appear at the head of an invading army. But there have been none to match his skills born in Ussura, so you take what you can get."
Govdela gathers the children near her.
Govdela says, "You've been doing a good job. Don't mess it up now, of all times."
GM says, "A sudden swirl of fog and snow envelops the five of them, and when it clears... they're gone."
Vasili says, "Thank you, Grandmother."
Pyotr falls off Charles' horse.
Pyotr says, "That was....."
Charles says, "Of course it was."
Pyotr says, "wow."
Era says, "Grandmother . . . .."
Era gets all warm and fuzzy inside, to accompany her feeling of being completely awestruck.
[Crows-Nest] Pyotr says, "and here I figured Era was usually warm and fuzzy outside"
[ussura] Era says, "hehehehehehehe"
[Crows-Nest] Charles says, "Hee."
GM says, "And that's a wrap! The next day, you find that all your wounds have healed."
[ussura] Pyotr says, "yay"
[ussura] Charles says, "Excellent sessions."
[ussura] Era exclaims, "sweet!"
GM says, "Oh, right."
[ussura] Charles says, "Session, I mean. Not that I have anything against the rest of them."
GM throws two drama dice to everyone!
Charles exclaims, "Woo!"
[ussura] GM says, "(including Sebastien)"
[ussura] Pyotr says, "depending on how much XP we got last session and this, I may decide to buff up, if I'm allowed to do that before next session"
[ussura] GM says, "Sure."
Charles passes one of his to Pyotr. "That's for not letting me fall out of that tree."
Pyotr says, "thanks"
[ussura] Charles asks (of GM), "Does that include the one I got earlier, or are they in addition?"
[ussura] Pyotr asks, "that becomes a story die, or is still a drama?"
[ussura] GM says, "These are new, yeah."
[ussura] GM says, "Yup! It's now a story die."
[ussura] Pyotr says, "yay"
